Went inside at a non busy time. Got our drinks right away. I enjoyed a Dirt Clod. It was the perfect level of sweet. It is a white mocha and the put a chunk of chocolate in the bottom. If my tongue was long enough, I would have licked my cup clean. Yum! Nice place. A local artists work is displayed. read more

Was advised by a chef at a local restaurant to come here for breakfast burritos and coffee. She did not steer me wrong! Matador had fun flavors for seasonal coffee items, the burrito was pretty good, and the breakfast sandwich was a little bit underwhelming but still good. The breakfast menu ends at 11 AM, so make sure to come in with plenty of time if breakfast is your vibe. We missed the cut off time for breakfast by a few minutes but the staff was so generous to make an exception for us. Super cute spot with a wide patio. The service was friendly, even as we squeezed in 7 minutes before closing that day. There were some interesting things on the menu but nothing to write home about. I got whatever espresso drink they had with the mint. It was good but sort of lukewarm, which wasn't great considering how cold we were when we came in. I don't think I'd seek this place out as there weren't vegan treats offered, which was surprising for a coffee shop of this category. Other than that, their coffee and ambiance are great! read more

We were returning from Page, AZ, and took a coffee break at Flagstaff. Wanted to try this place since it was en route and had pretty good reviews. When we dropped in, there was just one hiker and the place was clean and had a good ambiance. I loved the look of the shop, we ordered Latte, cappuccino, bagel, veggie sandwich, and a breakfast burrito. The coffee tasted good, it was roasted and had a good aroma, I would skip the veggie sandwich, it was too dry, hard, and felt not fresh. I would recommend the burrito, which was filling and really good for the price as well. Overall a cute shop, with good coffee, and decent pricing. read more

Mata-No-More! I've been here a couple times and enjoyed the coffee ok. Nothing that wowed me but decent. Today I went by as it was across from the hotel I was staying at. They were out of so many items, no gluten free options. Ordered some food and a couple lattes. The service was extremely slow. The food seemed pre-made and then microwaved and the lattes were so bland that they made the hotel coffee taste gourmet. There are much better options in Flag. read more

My supervisor/friend and I were driving through town and stopped to pee and get a snack! The bathroom was nice and clean, first off - so thanks! When we were looking at the drinks, the gal was restocking the freeze dried Moon taffy and sampled us a bag. We ate them on our way back to Phoenix. What a unique texture. Great coffee spot for all your caffeine needs. We visited multiple times during our stay in Flagstaff. There's a cute little drive-thru if you don't want to get out of the car and the main cafe is situated in a garage. I highly recommend the thin mint and the turkey breakfast burrito! Comes out piping hot with sour cream and salsa on the side. So good. Sign up for their rewards. You rack up points for every $4 and I ended up getting 2 free drinks which is always appreciated. Cool name, plus they have a drive thru! Unfortunately my experience wasn't as thrilling as a matador hopped up on coffee, but at least there were no angry bulls involved. I was hoping to just use the drive thru but we missed the turn to get to the drive thru kiosk and it would have been a pain to circle back so we just ended up parking in the back. I tried to enter through the official door entrance but for some reason it was locked? Another couple cut right in front of me to order at the roundabout way to the ordering counter after making a snide remark to me about the door being locked so I wasn't off to a good start here. When I finally got the the ordering counter I decided on the raspberry white truffle latte and a breakfast sandwich with soyrizo. It took quite a bit of time because there was only one person making the coffee and taking orders. Another person mysteriously emerged from the opposite corner of the shop to hand me the sandwich. When I left I noticed they finally had unlocked the real entrance to the shop, go figure. To be honest, I didn't like the raspberry truffle. The acidic tones in the raspberry added to the acidic nature of the coffee to make it too sour tasting for me and I think it would have been better using dark chocolate syrup instead of white chocolate. I liked the breakfast sandwich better, with the very tasty bagel, cheese, eggs, soyrizo and green chiles. Some other plusses about this shop are that they offer home compostable straws and have a good selection of non dairy options. read more

I went to order one of the avocado toasts (didn't realize it was a part of the breakfast menu) and was immediately cut off, barista said very curtly that was a breakfast item and breakfast was closed (it was 11:01 am, breakfast closed at 11). I would not have minded as much except she gave me such an attitude about it that I didn't even want to order any other food. I was a barista for 6 years, I know the struggle, but the bare minimum of customer service is not that hard. Do better. read more

Very disappointing coffee. I ordered a pour over and a matcha latte. I was told it will take 5mins for my order to be done, which I understand and agreed to. But then due to sudden rush maybe the barista forgot all about my order, I waited patiently for more than 15mins for my order and then finally reminded her, and she realized she forgot about my order. Then she poured some extra hot water over my coffee before serving, the coffee tasted very bitter and bad. Very disappointing. And no sense of apology. read more

We stayed at the hotel across the street, and the Matador was a super convenient walk across the street. They have a great selection of drinks and food - the usual coffee pastries, but also hot food like a breakfast sandwich or breakfast burrito. Comfy seating and relaxing atmosphere for a Monday morning. It snowed the night before and it was in the 40s, but the inside of the shop was so warm, and the staff rolled up one of the garage doors for fresh air. Stopped here on a brisk Sunday morning before heading back to the valley. The location is great to hit on the way out. The set up inside gets a little cramped when ordering and kind of confusing. The menu doesn't have very menu options but I don't think I have had a better breakfast sandwich! It really hit the spot with flavor. The coffee was good too and they had pumpkin pie flavoring which I am a sucker for. It does get really busy and the drive though was closed so it took a while for our order to come out. I was surprised by how many people rate this place well. Their coffee is mediocre at best. When you can say that Starbucks makes a better cup of cappuccino than a local shop, that's a problem... The drive-through is the only option due to the pandemic, but service was efficient and very friendly. This is probably the only reason why I gave this coffee shop an extra star, because besides that their coffee was pricey and not very good. I would pick another coffee shop next time. read more

I didn't get a chance to take a picture because I was in the car, but, the coffee was so good! We asked the girl at the front her recommendations and she was very helpful. The coffee is really good and it doesn't have a bitter after taste like I've noticed with other coffee. I wish I would've bought a bag to bring back home. The only thing I think is lacking is their choice in pastries, we went around 7:30 am and they had minimal choices but the muffin I ended up getting was decent. Overall the ambiance seems chill and low key and the coffee is good. read more
