One of our favorite tea spots to stop at whenever we're in Flagstaff. They sell their own teas in-house, which is a nice touch. My boyfriend ordered the hot London Fog and really enjoyed it. I can't remember the exact name of my drink - something like Orange Dream - but it was delicious as well. You can actually taste the tea, and it doesn't taste artificial at all. Super good. There's plenty of seating inside, which makes it a great place to hang out. The only downside is parking - finding a spot in Flagstaff can be tricky, and most of the parking in the area is paid. I knew I was in trouble at Steep Leaf Lounge the moment I asked for coffee and the room got quiet. Coffee? No (well they do have one option) Latte? Also no (they do have tea lattes) Hot chocolate? Technically yes... but even that comes with Earl Grey tea inside. These folks are deeply, passionately committed to one thing: dried leaves steeped in hot water. And honestly, they do it well. If you're a tea lover, this place is your Disneyland. The selection is impressive, the vibe is relaxed, and the people behind the counter clearly care about what they're doing. There's a real enthusiasm here for the craft of tea, and that kind of passion is always fun to see. That said, my one issue was a pretty important one on a cold Flagstaff day... My tea showed up lukewarm. Now normally I'm a pretty forgiving person... but when it's 40 degrees outside and tea is the entire business model, this feels like a pretty big detail. When tea is the whole menu, temperature isn't a detail... it's the headliner. I like the concept. I respect the passion. I was searching for a tea spot and saw that they had a few combinations that sounded really good. The shop is located at a corner and had some fun knickknacks including fun mugs, greeting cards, and tea canisters. There's also nice window-side sitting if you manage to snag a spot. I went with the lavender mint green tea with coconut milk and I don't think this combination was it for me - definitely tasted the lavender coconut and then the mint came in at the end. I drink matcha everyday of the year so I very familiar with all flavors and types of matcha. I was visiting Flagstaff, and saw Steep Leaf had great reviews for their matcha. I was really disappointed watching them make the matcha though. First, it wasn't freshly whisked. It was bottled up matcha, they poured in my drink. So when you drank it, the texture was as like drinking in-sifted matcha leaf powder, making it have a bad after taste. Second, it was overpriced for what you get (taste/flavor/texture). Third, their straws suck (no pun intended lol). Fourthly, the strawberry matcha... didnt even taste like it had strawberry flavor in it. I even went back to the counter and asked for more flavor... nope, it didn't help my overpriced drink. The ambience inside was cool and I can see why the college students gather there. Walked by this café after dinner and it was 8pm. We checked online and saw that they didn't close until 9pm so we decided to walk in as we had a whole hour. There were several occupied tables and one of the workers already had her broom out and was cleaning out the pillows / cushions. We walked in and the girl who took our order gave us the stankiest look ever. She didn't greet us and just glared at us as we looked over the menu, weirdo. We decided on a slice of carrot cake and a pumpkin cha with oat milk to share and we decided to eat it there. She was unfriendly the entire interaction. We sat down and by now they were both behind the counter making drinks / cleaning and it was probably around 8:15pm. I looked at the door and they now had a line out the door, lol. There was a group of girls that decided to sit where it had been cleaned already and I could hear the 2 workers talking about them. Both the pumpkin chai and carrot cake were delicious! The café itself is very cute and cozy. They had cute items for sale and some unique looking birthday cards. I love Steep and visit every time we are in Flagstaff. It is cozy, welcoming and the vibe is so relaxing. My new favorite is the Pine Chai which is caffeine free and delicious. Had to buy some to bring home along with a beautiful mug. They are also dog friendly and have nice spots to sit and chat. I begrudgingly attempted to find a tea latte to replace my Starbucks habit and stumbled here to Steep. Toni (an amazing morning worker here) helped me and has always been absolutely fantastic! Cute little tea shop with a wide selection of teas, tea paraphernalia, and pastries. Dine-in prices are reasonable, especially for a pot of tea (which is good for several steeps). Their loose teas are a bit pricey, but the quality is excellent. Chinese teas are more their specialty, but they have a few chais as well. The cups and pots available for sale are also a bit expensive, but the quality is superb. I particularly recommend the lavender Earl Grey latte and the carrot cake. The macarons are also delightful. They occasionally offer an apple spice cake that's to die for, but it's a rare offering. I've always found the staff friendly and accommodating. This review is for the matcha and the matcha only! I tried their strawberry matcha and was not impressed by it at all. I think that they may have used either too hot of water or low quality matcha because it tasted bitter and no natural sweetness. I also could not taste the strawberry flavor unfortunately! The drink came unsweetened, which I did not expect because there was added strawberry jam. Because of how bitter it was, I had to add two packets of sugar for it to be drinkable. I am a big fan of matcha and have tried many places so I just want to warn of that. I don't want to leave a bad review based off one drink alone, so I would recommend you not to try that. My boyfriend got some black tea that I don't remember, but he enjoyed that so there are still good things in the menu. I would just personally avoid the matcha. This is a good place to order both hot tea and brunch. My husband and I have visited for brunch about four times. In this occasion we ordered breakfast sandwiches on fresh croissants. We each also got a sprig of grapes. We ordered a whole pot of tea to share. The shop specializes in tea and has a good selection. This is a relaxing place to visit. I ordered a hot chai latte with oat milk and it's decent, I personally find the Marsala very overbearing on the flavors but that's not applicable to everyone I suppose. The decro is very charming with mixed options between sitting on a chair with a table, like a standard western person or you can become like Buddha, sitting on your butt by the window with lots of pillow. I love to get some hot Chai tea and sit on my butt with the pillow on my lap, right by the window to stare at people like a creep. Just kidding. I was definitely people walking though. 3. Cute tea shop with really cozy seating. Lots of blends for sale as well as some cute teaware. Service wasn't unfriendly but wasn't particularly welcoming either. I ordered a London Fog (earl grey tea latte) which was tasty however gave me a tummy ache. I asked for oat milk but idk if they used real dairy by accident? I didn't eat anything alongside the drink and the stomachache was immediate. I had breakfast that day but a few hours earlier. It seems like the drink is the most likely culprit which is very odd.
