We went here with friends on a Saturday afternoon while we were doing a Columbus food crawl. The place was surprisingly busy for an afternoon. I wasn't expecting that. There were only a few spots available to sit so my husband went and found us a table while we ordered. He also found a deck of Giant Uno cards that ended up being the source of many laughs while we enjoyed our coffee there. He had the Turkish coffee. I had the Jabani and a piece of caramel milk cake. I had a couple of bites of the cake and it was fantastic! Love that as you put your fork into the milk just oozed out. The rest I took home to enjoy later. The coffee was good. Very hot. I love that it stays hot the whole time you're there and not just for 5 minutes like most places. We bought a bag of beans to take home. Can't wait to use those. The place is absolutely beautiful and the restroom is something to see. Plenty of photo ops. Take some time and stop in to enjoy this place. I stopped by Matari in the evening to get some work done. I appreciate that it's a coffee shop with late hours (open until 10:00pm). The cafe was quite busy with a small crowd watching the World Cup. Still, there was a small section at the front of the cafe that was quiet and perfect to work. I tried the traditional Yemeni coffee since it was my first visit. The clerk recommended this as what they are known for. It did not disappoint! I like my coffee drinks a bit more on the bitter side so I will order it 1/2 sweet in the future. Located in a little plaza near campus, it's a good place to come study and get some good drinks. There's a decent amount of parking in the lot and around the area. Inside there's a decent amount of seats and tables but it's always very busy and sometimes hard to find a spot. The cafe is bright, pretty, lively, and pretty cool. We've come a few times and have tried a few different things. I think the drinks are usually made well and are flavorful. I like their matchas but feel like they could use a bit more matcha. Their other drinks are usually strong and can be bitter based on the roast. I think the pastries are pretty good as well. I feel like a few cafes around town have similar if not the same pastries and they're all pretty good. I like the creamcheese in the Honeycomb pastry, it's a good balance to the honey. The pistachio milk cake is pretty good but I wish it was more pistachio flavored. I think everything is pretty good, it's just a little expensive. I would love to buy and try more but it is a treat to come. Overall, it's a good place for drinks, a sweet treat, or to get some work done. There are limited outlets around the cafe and not many large tables. Good place for casual dates, studying alone, or a very small group. It gets a bit loud with conversations and music, but people playing headphones and earbuds. Staff is usually very nice and answer questions. What an incredible coffee bar. Stopped in with my husband for a late date night treat. We had the mango fruit mouse, biscoff tiramisu and an iced hibiscus lemonade tea. Everything was delicious! The space was immaculate and clean. It was nice to find a late night place open where we could have a non alcoholic drink and treat and also played a few rounds of jumbo Uno (I won). 10/10 we will be back. read more

I recently discovered this fairly new Yemeni coffee shop on Instagram and I'm so glad I did. I quickly made plans with a coworker to go check it out and get some work done on a Friday and it was absolutely lovely. For starters, the space itself is beautiful. Bright natural light, marble floors, sleek seating including a wall of booths, a large sign spelling out their name Matari coffee, and murals on the wall. As for drinks, they have an array of classic Yemeni coffee and matcha options, as well as creative and unique options like the pistachio latte or banana matcha. I opted for a seasonal tiramisu latte with oatmilk and it was fabulous and certainly easy on the eyes. It even came with a small cookie on top for dipping. As for food, their dessert case was filled with beautiful treats like the super popular fruit mousse cakes and macarons. I went with a pistachio croissant and it was great. Super moist and flakey with just the right amount of pistachio cream inside with a dollop of the same cream on top sprinkled with pistachio crumble. I'll end with a few extra details. The wifi was strong and I had no issues at all. There's a parking lot out front and while it was fairly packed when I arrived, there was plenty of space. The bathroom was very clean. The service was awesome. They accidentally made me an iced coffee inside of a hot one and quickly offered to fix it. I really didn't care so I went with the iced one but I appreciated their willingness to make it right. Their coffee prices were pretty on par with other spots, but their desserts were a bit pricey... understandably because my goodness, just look at them. I'll definitely be back. read more

There are ton of these types of coffee shops popping up around town. You definitely have your pick of them. They are becoming a dime a dozen. The parking lot is busy and it's narrow. I do appreciate that they had prices on their bakery items. That was super helpful. I got an iced matcha mango with cold foam. The cold foam was plain flavored and not mango like it showed in the picture. The mango didn't mix very well into the matcha. It was good as it was a real mango puree but as a combined drink it was meh. read more

De-li-cious! As a grad student, I'm always on the hunt for a coffee spot that is 1) open late and 2) has creamy,yummy, delicious coffee and Matari meets both those criteria! The staff working the counter are very nice and able to accommodate my request. Big plus that they have decaf! I've already been back since my first visit and have recommended it to my friends. I have yet to try their pastries but their case was full of delectable treats. The only downside is they are on the pricier side... maybe one day I'll give them a try as I will surely be back. Oh, my gosh I must say this is the most beautiful coffee shop i've seen in Columbus. It screams elegance. The chairs are beautiful. It is a Yemen coffee shop. The atmosphere of this coffee shop just makes you want to sit in there all day.. This coffee shop just recently opened. Their grand opening will be Friday. It's located in the little plaza on Olentangy next to the wing stop. The service was great and everyone was really nice. I tried the Pistachio Latte it was really good perfectly made. Heard about a new Yemeni coffee shop and had to try it out!! As a lover of Qamaria and the likes, I was so excited that there is one closer to home for me! I got the pistachio latte and one of the viral fruit custards (mango). I took it to go, but the inside is lovely - so clean and sharp. It seems like a great place to get some work done, or have a little coffee meet up! The service was top notch as well - efficient and so so friendly!!! I loved my pistachio latte- I didn't find it overly sweet and could still taste the coffee past the pistachio flavor. I look forward to trying it hot next time! At first glance, the price may seem a little steep (I think it was $8 or so for my latte, which I swapped regular milk for almond milk)- but the cup is actually quite large, so it felt appropriate. As far as the viral mousse pastry goes - I will say I felt this was overhyped. The outside shell is white chocolate, and filled with a mango jelly in the center (I didn't love the texture- it was quite gritty), and a whipped custard around the mango jelly. This had a mild mango flavor, and was the best part of the pastry. As of now, I'm leaving a 4 (really I'd do 4.5) given that the mango pastry fell short, but I definitely need to return to try a different pastry from the case (there were so many) to hopefully make it a 5 star review. read more

Visited Matari Coffee for the first time. I arrived shortly after the store opened. After glancing at the pastries and coffee menu, I chose the Pistachio Latte. The cafe worker was pleasant and he quickly crafted my beverage. After getting home I tasted the coffee. The drink was very sweet, even with ordering it half sweet. An extra shot of espresso would have made it perfect, so I will ensure I add that item on my next visit. For people looking to dine-in there is a large seating area. The cafe also has a large parking lot. read more

Beautiful business with fantastic customer service. They were incredibly kind to me. We got quite a few of the fruit pastries. Our favorites were definitely the pistachio and the blackberry ones. I also had a yemeni drink with honey served ice--it was delicious although I think I would recommend it alongside the traditional desserts as the balance is more delicate. Great, thoughtful service. I've been here twice. This most recent time, I ordered their signature chai latte iced which was amazing! It is a beautiful cafe with nice instrumental music at a good volume. The first time I came here, I ordered a hot drink which took 30 mins to cool down, and the milk created a film on top and the spices sank to the bottom. Next time I order a hot drink, I'll ask for it to be made closer to drinkable temperature. read more

Not very handicap accessible with there being only one register. Regardless of number of staff behind the drink bar the line moves too slow if you can't stand easily. Staff wear black latex gloves but touch the register, cash and equipment in between touching customers food orders and drinks; clean hands but dirty food. There are few signs that tell what the pastries are. I've left the cafe twice without purchasing anything because of a long line. I'm unlikely to ever return. read more

If you are going to try the viral fruit shaped "mousse" don't waste your time or money. There is no mousse. They are filled with whipped cream and what basically equates to smuckers jelly.
