The wait was great for as busy as they were. Decent seating inside and out but a lot were to go orders I ordered the #7 The Village Addiction $13.00 smoked turkey, havarti, cranberry mayonnaise served grilled on sour dough. The cranberry mayo was a great addition to the sandwich tangy and refreshing. They have plenty of salads as well but I opted for the Curry Cauliflower. To start what was a disappointing experience, on street parking is minimal and awkward. I wasn't greeted when I went up a couple of stairs to enter at the edge of a small to modest dining room of communal tables. One wall was covered with a complex sandwich creation formula. When I finally went up and disturbed the cashier she asked me if I'd looked at the wall behind me.... It was covered with descriptions of sandwich options. I selected #8 (I've forgotten the name, but it reportedly had several kinds of meats, some cheese and lots of other stuff). I was instructed to go back to the cashier and place my order for the sandwich and a can of pop I served myself to from a cooler adjacent to the cashier/register, and pay ( slightly over $20, before tip). No sides... From reviews and comments I'd expected an overstuffed sandwich with lots of meats and all. When my sandwich came to my table wrapped in paper cut in half in a plastic basket. It wasn't even large, let alone "overstuffed". It came with one small, limp, unappetizing pickle. The sandwich was alright. Nothing really wrong with it. Just not as much food as in a sub from the national chain. There were few customers coming and going, but lots of available seating in the room I was in , or a second dining room beyond. I've been coming here for years and absolutely love their sandwich selection- my favorite is the Village Addiction sandwich and every time I get it they are always helpful and happy to make adjustments to the sandwich for me. The staff is really kind and helpful anytime I have questions they always patiently wait and offer helpful recommendations. Lastly the ambiance is very hipster mom and pop, I think it provides a ton of great no frills just good food vibes to German Village. They're loaded with smoked ham, capicola, pastrami, salami, Swiss, hot pepper jack, provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onion, banana peppers, mayo, and Italian dressing. You can get it hot or cold on a hoagie roll. We went with the whole for $15.25 and it's a hefty, satisfying sandwich. They also have a soup and sandwich combo if you want something a little lighter. It comes with half a sandwich and an 8oz soup or deli side for $13. It's a charming little spot with friendly staff, but it's often busy, especially during the lunch rush. The Brown Bag Deli is superior! Randomly decided to pick my daughter up from school early and ventured here since I was craving a good quality deli sandwich. No exaggeration this may have been the best Club Sandwich I've had. I requested spicy deli mustard which they didn't have but someone from the kitchen overheard and offered to add a family secret spicy mustard, which really in my opinion elevated the experience. The shop is small but adorable and has a few tables for in house dining. The woman at the register was extremely helpful in explaining the sandwich options and daily specials. We stopped at Brown Bag Deli today for lunch. This deli is located in the trendy neighborhood known as German Village with its bricked laid streets and cute homes. The deli is super welcoming inside and had many sandwiches too choose from along with some yummy side dishes. I had the classic club with had smoked turkey, thick sliced pepper bacon, Swiss, lettuce, tomato and red onion with herb mayonnaise on my favorite sour dough bread. My side was broccoli salad that had broccoli, sunflowers, red Cabbage and sunflower seeds. Both the sandwich and side were very good. The sandwich was very thick and hearty and the side was a generous portion. The y also gave me a large kosher dill pickle. We sat outside and really enjoyed our food and the shaded sidewalk area. I thought the food was pricey but you received a huge portion. One sandwich and side could easily be split among 2 people. I would definitely go back and you should check them out. I think you would really like what they offer. Oh, they do also offer inside seating. Parking is on the street only. They had great looking desserts but I was too full to partake. I am still on the hunt for a really great deli in Columbus. I love a great sub, and I just haven't found an amazing place yet. The sandwiches were good, but not great. A little overpriced, but the price is in line with other delis that I have tried in the area. I got Molly's Favorite which had tomato pesto, turkey and spinach on ciabatta. All the ingredients on their own were solid, but the sandwich itself sounded better than it was. The bread was good, but not great and there was no kick to make the sandwich worth the price. The soup of the day, Hungarian mushroom, was amazing and definitely something I would order again. But I would not go back for the sandwich. And the side pickle was meh, the brine wasn't my favorite and tasted a little too bitter. My husband ordered a reuben and the corned beef was cold and it was also just okay. It also was a bit small for the price. His reuben was the size of my half sandwich I got with the pick 2 I ordered. Lastly, we ordered a brownie. It was chewy, but a little dry. The taste was okay, it was just average. Overall I had high expectations, based on what others have told me, and I just felt like this was an average place with relaxing vibes. The best deli that I've been to in C-bus yet! It's a small old deli with a lot of charm! The employees were great, friendly, courteous and helpful. There was a constant flow of customers the whole time that we were there. The food across the board was outstanding! Full of flavor and fresh! To start I chose a deviled egg, I should have picked up a half dozen. So tasty, I've never had one with a little sweetness added, but these were perfect. I followed it up with the Leroy's smoking' sandwich, smoked ham, pastrami, smoked cheddar, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing on swirled rye and a pickle on the side. The mix of flavors wants me to go back today and get another one. I also had a side of the asparagus, goat cheese pasta salad. Perfect pasta mixed with some greens, I think arugula, sun dried tomatoes and covered with a light Italian dressing. My wife chose the Bacon and bleu salad, it was huge! A mix of greens, bacon, huge chunks of chicken, Gorgonzola cheese, tomato's and a balsamic vinaigrette. She could only finish half, but dug in to the rest when we got home. My friend and I were taking a scroll through Schiller Park and stumbled along this gem! This place gives off old school vibes with a modern hip twist. My friend ordered the Jalapeño Popper Sandwich and I ordered the Cuban Sandwich. The jalapeño Popper Sandwich is so delicious and something totally different than I've ever had before. The Cuban Sandwich was also delicious! The only varying factor from the Brown Bag Deli's and a traditional Cuban Sandwich would be the pulled pork! Service was quick and fast to order. I'll try to make this short but cute area, nice spot right on the corner, but overall not worth your time. Sandwiches weren't impressive by any means and service was rude. Lady carrying out a girl's sandwich gave her attitude as she threw the bag at her cause the girl couldn't hear her call her name the first time, even though the girl was sitting on the opposite side of the busy room. I think I didn't order the right thing here. This deli has a lot of prepared salads with a great variety, a good selection of salads and a rotating soup. There is an open area to sit in that is t the most comfortable but there are a lot of people from the neighborhood that enjoy it and it's nice to see a place where people actually gather to talk to each other. I got a rotating soup which was not my favorite and I got a vegetarian sandwich on marbled rye which is t something I would normally get and also did t like it but I think it was my own preference rather than things being made poorly. read more

Stopped in for the first time today. I had heard it was on the pricey side but fantastic. I agree it was good, however my simple order of a ham, cheddar, lettuce, tomato and mayo sandwich with a bag of chips came out to a total of $21 somehow. Not sure if a tip is automatically added by the staff and I wouldn't have minded- just recommend that it's mentioned to customers first out of kindness. Zero complaints! I have been a customer of Brown Bag since I was about 8 years old.. I used to walk over for a deli pickle and a bag of salt and vinegar chips (when I was a kid and parents just let kids run wild), and it was a cool juxtaposition to be able to order from this newer iteration of the restaurant for a luncheon for our board of directors over 20 years later. Hats off to the Brown Bag Deli Team and to the owner I spoke with, Molly, specifically. They turned around a catering tray in less than 24 hours and it was exactly what I needed. read more
