YE Gurl's Sandwich Stroll: Brown Bag Deli Vibes with the Crew Brown Bag Deli - German Village 4/26/2025 It's YE Gurl! Out here living my best life in German Village with the YE girl crew on one of our low-key, good food, good convo excursions. Brown Bag Deli is that cute, casual sandwich shop tucked near the park, perfect for grabbing a bite and enjoying the charm of the neighborhood. Small, cozy inside with bench seating, but honestly, this is a grab-your-sandwich-and-hit-the-park kind of spot. Meal: Now y'all know I walk the pescatarian/vegetarian line, so the menu was a little limited for me, but I locked in on the Number 15 - Jalapeño Popper Sandwich ($14.00) and it did not disappoint. It's stacked with roasted jalapeño cream cheese, cheddar, hot pepper jack, tomato, red onion, and spinach all hugged by pumpernickel bread. Yes, the spinach was absolutely a strategic choice to move all that cheese along--balance, okay? The sandwich was hefty, packed with flavor, and honestly if I ate meat, it could've been a two-meal situation. But I had just finished my fitness challenge and this was my little indulgence moment before swinging back into my protein-tracking life. The other chicas in the YE girl crew had their sandwiches of choice and we just soaked up the good weather, good energy, and great laughs. Brown Bag Deli keeps it affordable, friendly, and family-ready. Whether you're rolling solo, with your squad, walking your pup, or bringing the kids, this is a solid stop.

Absolutely delicious chicken salad sandwich! Great service, and love to support a local business. Portions were big and worth the cost. :) The gorgeous german village is a perfect setting, sitting outside is lovely !

This place is FANTASTIC. The amount of sandwich choices to choose from, you really can't go wrong. They are a great size as well! The service is decently fast for how poppin' this place is! I would sooooo come back here. We grabbed some sandos to take with us on a picnic and it was lovely.

I love the brown bag deli! I've been coming here for years and absolutely love their sandwich selection- my favorite is the Village Addiction sandwich and every time I get it they are always helpful and happy to make adjustments to the sandwich for me. The staff is really kind and helpful anytime I have questions they always patiently wait and offer helpful recommendations. Lastly the ambiance is very hipster mom and pop, I think it provides a ton of great no frills just good food vibes to German Village. The location is superb for grabbing a quick bite before heading to the park to hang out with some friends! My only wish was that they try to keep their online menu prices up to date for more seamless experience for customers!

The Brown Bag Deli is superior! Randomly decided to pick my daughter up from school early and ventured here since I was craving a good quality deli sandwich. No exaggeration this may have been the best Club Sandwich I've had. I requested spicy deli mustard which they didn't have but someone from the kitchen overheard and offered to add a family secret spicy mustard, which really in my opinion elevated the experience. The shop is small but adorable and has a few tables for in house dining. The woman at the register was extremely helpful in explaining the sandwich options and daily specials. I paid $28 for what's pictured and wanted to go back in and try more things. Can't wait to visit again

My husband and I were craving cuban sandwiches and when I found out that this deli had them we had to go! The service we received was so nice and we felt welcomed. I really enjoyed the ambiance because it felt so relaxing. We will be back!

We stopped at Brown Bag Deli today for lunch. This deli is located in the trendy neighborhood known as German Village with its bricked laid streets and cute homes. The deli is super welcoming inside and had many sandwiches too choose from along with some yummy side dishes. I had the classic club with had smoked turkey, thick sliced pepper bacon, Swiss, lettuce, tomato and red onion with herb mayonnaise on my favorite sour dough bread. My side was broccoli salad that had broccoli, sunflowers, red Cabbage and sunflower seeds. Both the sandwich and side were very good. The sandwich was very thick and hearty and the side was a generous portion. The y also gave me a large kosher dill pickle. We sat outside and really enjoyed our food and the shaded sidewalk area. I thought the food was pricey but you received a huge portion. One sandwich and side could easily be split among 2 people. I would definitely go back and you should check them out. I think you would really like what they offer. Oh, they do also offer inside seating. Parking is on the street only. They had great looking desserts but I was too full to partake. Counter service was friendly and welcoming. They do offer soups but I did not purchase one today.

Good food, good portions for 14.50. I had got the Cuban. I give it a seven out of ten. It needed toasted slightly more.

This spot is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than Katzingers and Warios. Big hearty meaty tasty unctuous sandwiches that'll have you with hella leftovers that taste as good or better than the first bite. You'll pay a pretty penny but so what when you get your moneys worth and taste worth as well. House made slaws, smoked potato salads, in addition to chips and unique sodas. Furthermore they've got house made baked goods that are smooth, velvety, and delicious. There are only a very small handful of great delis in the city and this spot is #1. There's really nothing else I can say about this place that folks in that community don't already know because they get mad business and it's well deserved!

Great choice of deli sandwiches and sides. Really liked the Spice of Life sandwich. Staff is very helpful and friendly.

Additionally, having had a Goodman's Deli mile high corned beef sandwich when I lived in Cleveland, I had even higher expectations. Their most popular sandwich is the Reuben so I went with that. Katzingers did not meet them. When I arrived to pick up my sandwich I was shocked the line wasn't out the door to place orders before they closed and the dining room had maybe 6 people in it. There were about 6 to go bags on the shelf along with mine. When I mentioned to the cashier that I was surprised it wasn't busier, she said it'll be busier tomorrow. I said the day after St Pat's? No answer. Another not good sign in my mind. When I got home, the wrapped sandwich was bigger than my hand but not very tall. The paper had areas of grease which is a good sign for this sandwich. The corned beef itself was tender but there wasn't as much of it, maybe an inch high and 1/3 of the bread had no corned beef. I also could not taste the thousand island dressing. The rye bread was toasted but pretty soggy. The crust was mostly crunchy. The bread slices were paired upside down putting a narrower side a larger side against each other. There is not enough sauerkraut and it is not very sour. I was given the choice of a dill or garlic pickle but I cannot tell you how it was because they didn't put it in the bag. I expected this sandwich to have so much meat in it, I could eat for multiple days for $18. Again, disappointed. Maybe I should've gotten the deli sized version but paying that much for a sandwich... The inside of the deli is fun and it's obvious it's been around a long time and has been well loved. I wanted to like Katzinger's but since the price and the quality don't match, I cannot.

They came to take our drink order and by the time they returned we were ready to order. We chatted for a bit and our food came out in what seemed to be a good time. I ordered the Patty Melt with onion straws. My husband got the Thurman Burger. We were surprised by its size when they came carrying it out to our table. Believe it or not he ate every single bite. Said it was delicious. Mine was equally as delicious. Maybe not quite as big but that was fine by me. I actually quite enjoyed that they served the 1000 island on the side. It made it way easier to eat. The cheese was nice and gooey. Just perfect. The onion straws were good too. I shared those with my husband. They were actually just as good on their own as they were dipped in any kind of sauce. That's big coming from me bc I love dipping! We got a box for our leftovers and headed out happy with a great first time experience here.
