This review will primarily be based on the mango coconut drink on their new menu. I saw that there were new mango based products on the matcha cafe menu and I rushed to get it. The mango was sweet and delicious, but for some reason, I've never liked it in a drink. The coconut flavor was present but the drink itself was mild and odd. Next time, I'd probably get the mango soft serve. This drink was a 3/5. The service was a 5/5. I was glad to see that it was ready for pickup when I got there. I ordered it 20 minutes in advance and I liked how the servers/workers made the drink for me on the spot. The ambiance was super lively, even though it's in a small spot.
Counter service / quick service selection. They have a loyalty system if you input your phone number soft serve was pricy as expected but absolutely worth the money. We thought it was delicious and can't wait to return. The area it's located in is in a mall food court with plenty of seating choices.
Matcha Cafe Maiko delivered in every aspect!! I had heard good things about this establishment, and they most certainly did NOT let me down! We stopped by the mall they're located within specifically to visit them, and I found the experience to be wonderful! First off, ordering at the kiosks was extremely easy, and despite the large amount of people, they had our drinks that had been ordered ready in no time at all! My Matcha Latte with Sakura Foam was absolutely perfect in the sense that it was subtly sweet with nothing being too overpowering - I loved the slight fruity hints and the great quality to the matcha. My partner wanted the soft serve Matcha, which he found to be thoroughly enjoyable. It's in a mall, but the venue itself is very clean and easy to access. Regardless, I highly recommend this spot for giving a try!
I've been to the Matcha Cafe Maiko in Chinatown and was in awe that they got another location in the Tangram mall in Flushing. It is on the 2nd floor of the mall in the food court section. You can spot it really well when you get off the elevators. It is literally next to it with the huge logo on the wall. It has no doors and has an open to the public concept that you cannot miss. This afternoon I went there to check it out and grab floats and ice cream and was shocked at how many people were lining up to get matcha! There were 3 kiosks and in person cashier to place your order. I decided to go with the kiosk. I got a matcha latte float that came with ice cream on the top. I got to decide on 2 types of ice cream flavors and I went with matcha and Milo chocolate malt. I also got a matcha pudding with soft serve and chose matcha and ube flavors to go with it. Surprisingly with the number of people waiting for their orders, my order was ready in less than a minute. The staff were super fast with the orders. I didn't even have to wait. The matcha ice cream on the top of the latte float tasted amazing and authentic. I could taste the matcha flavor really well without adding any sugar. The Milo chocolate malt was not that salty as I imagined. They actually did not balance out the matcha and chocolate proportions well. I ended up getting more matcha ice cream than the chocolate on my latte. After I finished the drink, I realized how much ice was in the cup. It was half the cup left of unmelted ice. I didn't even know that it was going to be that much. I wish they gave less ice so I had more matcha latte in the cup. The matcha pudding with matcha and ube ice cream was really good too. My daughter had that and ate all the ice cream really fast since it was so delicious and creamy! Overall, the drinks and ice cream were really good but it was too pricey and wish they hadn't add that much ice in the latte.
Good quality desserts and dessert drinks. A bit on the pricier side, but still good Ordered the matcha lavender dessert milk drink with no ice and 0% sugar. If you mix it, the matcha overpowers the lavender and you won't taste it much anymore. But overall still a good drink Service was super fast and professional. It can depend on when you go, this time I didn't have much wait on a Thursday evening
I finally got around to trying the matcha latte here! I had tried their seasonal ice cream flavors before but never the matcha latte as I wasn't a fan yet. Apparently this spot has one of the best matcha lattes that you can find in NYC. Ordering was done via the tablets or register. They also had signboards out with deals that weren't available on the tablet menu. Right now they're introducing hojicha as a new flavor. On weekdays, they have a special for $8.88 where you can get one of 2 drinks and a custard or red bean taiyaki. I got the matcha latte with 75% sweetness and that was perfect for me. It really might be one of the best matcha lattes I've had in NYC (but the all time favorite is still Tokyo). 10/10 would get another matcha latte from here or maybe try one of their other flavors. Prices are a bit on the higher side at almost $8 for just one drink.
I went here twice today. Once for the sakura coconut drink, the flavor had to grow on me, though I did enjoy it. I went back and got the ube ice cream, which I did enjoy. Thank you to all the girls who are working hard to make everyone's orders and ensure that everything is running smoothly! It is usually busy, however the wait was not long at all for my ice cream, nor my drink.
Definitely a solid and reliable option for dessert. One thing that really draws me to Matcha Maiko is really the variety of desserts and toppings that they offer. They sell lattes, sundaes, soft serves, soft serve on top of lattes, it feels like you can really mix and match whatever cravings you are having. They offer toppings like as mochi, red bean, jelly, etc and all these different texture and variety make the desserts that much more filling. and in my opinion, makes the price more reasonable. My boyfriend and I will usually always go for the float. We love being able to have both a latte and soft serve in one. The latte itself is pretty decent and the soft serve has more of a thicker consistency which we enjoy. The soft serve is always creamy, smooth and had a strong matcha flavor. Overall, definitely a solid place for dessert.
A nice coincidence that we found out about Maiko Cafe Matcha in August of this year being fans of matcha. Of course, we tried the matcha and ube soft serve along with the amazing guava and lychee soft serve! Always up for matcha which goes well with various ingredients such as ube or adzuki red bean. We went to Maiko Cafe Matcha again in November to try the Maple Oat Hojicha Latte only to order the Sakura Foam Matcha Latte as well. Why not try these unique desserts and drinks?! Located in a conspicuous spot in the food court at the Tangram mall, you can't miss Maiko Cafe Matcha. Good customer service. Everything seems more streamlined with the menu displayed on the plasma screen and the promotional ads on the kiosk. Happy that there is a Maiko Cafe Matcha in Queens!
It's a great treat to have after your dinner. $10 per soft serve whether in a cone or cup. Creamy and delightful, I would definitely recommend this spot for ice cream. Great serving for one person or sharing between two people. It's inside the Tangram Mall. Accessible by the 7 train. Lots of seating all over the place if you wanna sit down to enjoy. Ambiance wise is very cute and instaworthy. Staff is always polite and pretty fast service too. Love their seasonal flavors from time to time like lychee + strawberry + mango. Tend to come here often by myself or sometimes with friends. Always taste fresh and not too sweet. Everything is 100/10 in my book.

White Peach Oolong + Mango ice cream + Sticky Rice - tastes like mango sticky rice in a cup Mango Jasmine Coconut Cream - strong jasmine tea flavor, very smooth. Mango Coconut Breeze (blue top) - refreshing, tastes like coconut water + mango slush. Strawberry Matcha Latte - looks fresh and tastes good (bitter matcha + sweet strawberry). All four are good. Not too sweet. Will come back.
This place is new and i got the lychee guava soft serve! Its a summer edition and kt was really good! It was also 9 dollars which is more on the pricy side. I slo got the mochi tayaki with custard but it came out soggy because they put it in the cup. It was three for 10 dollars. Other than that the service was quick for the soft serve but not the fish which was fine. Theres seating in the mall but no wifi. read more
My friend swears by the matcha at this place and the things that were coming out of the counter was so beautiful. I had to risk it all. Yes, I'm lactose intolerant. I popped 2 of the lactaid pills and went all out. The staff was really nice and this space is beautiful. There were so many choices at first I couldn't make up my mind, but I ended up deciding on a matcha latte with the swirl of ube and matcha ice cream on top. It was glorious, I made sure to get 30% sugar, so the actual latte wasn't sweet. As the ice cream melted, it blended to a lovely flavor with just the right amount of sweet and tart. The only issue.... I found it to be a bit pricey $11+, especially when I go to places that are very similar in the city with the same high quality ingredients. read more

I ordered maiko special and it was delicious, but very filling. You can pick up to 4 ice cream flavors. I chose lavender and matcha. There's mochi, corn flakes, and jelly too. You can add whatever powder toppings at the end. This is a treat to be eaten by 2-3 people. It cost $12. Can't wait to come back and try something else. read more
Came here for matcha day and got their swirl of 7% and 3.5% matcha and added hojicha and matcha powder as toppings. Toppings are free!! This is my third time coming here and it never disappoints. Love this place!!! read more
If you're looking for a fun and good quality matcha experience this is your place. The matcha was strong but not cheap tasting and the hojicha had the smoothest coffee but not coffee flavor. I enjoyed their options and liked that the staff knew their stuff when it came to flavor profiles. This mall location was the perfect afternoon boost to a boring day. read more

I heard about their limited flavors (available until the end of September!) - Lychee and Earl Grey - so I was beyond excited to try! We got the combo soft serve with Earl Grey and Matcha - the Earl Grey has a deep tea flavor with a milkiness that makes it the perfect "not too sweet" sweetness, which compliments the rich Matcha soft serve. We also got to try the Matcha Lemonade, which is lot less sparkling than others I've had but I actually enjoyed this. 50% sweetness level was good if you want a refreshing drink - for those who don't like strong matcha flavors, I'd recommend upping the sweetness level. read more

Matcha latte and matcha soft serve, two of my favorites, in the same place - I told my husband we needed to head to Flushing to check out Matcha Cafe Maiko. The "cafe" is a takeaway counter on the street-level of the new Tangram Mall. I say "new" even though the mall has been open for awhile because we haven't trekked out to Flushing since pre-Covid. Sometimes just getting out of the UWS neighborhood seems like a big adventure. Since we discovered the Express Bus QM2 from Manhattan to visit family in Queens, we've bypassed Flushing (ahem scary 7 train). Tangram Mall is a major draw however and now Flushing seems almost trendy. Stepping into the mall felt like living in Shanghai again. The restaurants and food court, the cutsy shops are uniquely Asian. There's tables and chairs and seating strewn all over the mall to sit and relax. At Matcha Cafe Maiko, it was hard to decide what to order - the seasonal Sakura or Peach Oolong soft serve? What about the special Banana pudding matcha latte? Or stick with the classic matcha or hojicha tea lattes? Or combine the best of both worlds - soft serve with latte for a latte float? The two girls behind the counter were so patient and genuinely kind answering our questions even though there was a little line forming behind us. Since it was already late in the afternoon, I decided on a hojicha latte float since hojicha (roasted green tea) supposedly has less caffeine) with the peach oolong and sakura swirl soft serve ice cream on top sprinkled with hojicha powder. My husband ordered the Dalgona Combo Coffee and Matcha latte (Dalgona being a type of brown sugar). We also shared a Mochi Taiyaki pastry with custard (seemed very tiny, should've ordered two!). Altogether the two drinks (one topped with soft serve ice cream) and pastry totaled $26. I asked the cashier about the special promotion "Spend $20 or more and get a free tote bag" - she gave me a pick between the large or small bag. Matcha Cafe Maiko has lots of locations, which makes sense because their treats are delicious (I actually think I've only had their soft serve, so I guess I am just talking about that but I'd check out other stuff). We went to the one in Tangram Mall in Flushing and got the Earl grey and matcha swirl soft serve. Delicious and delightful and a large portion - I personally liked splitting this with at least one other person / think this might be too much for me. My mom tried their lavender and matcha swirl when it was the season for it (I like that they have rotating seasonal flavors) and she also said it was delicious. It was technically at another location, but I think that the positive review stands. read more
Tucked away in a nice little mall, this matcha place has quick service, but lacks the correct texture for their ice cream. Rather than being creamy, the ice cream felt almost clumpy. The flavor was fine, but it could have used a stronger matcha flavoring. I'm a bit disappointed since I'm familiar with other locations of Matcha Cafe Maiko (it's a chain with locations across the country), and this chain overall struggles with a lack of consistency across locations. read more

As someone who thinks the matcha scene in NYC is a miss, Matcha Cafe Maiko meets the bar -- but just barely. I came here on a Wednesday evening at around 6 pm. When I've passed by on weekends, I've usually encountered long lines but this time around, there was virtually no line. I ordered a soft serve with a mix of the Lavender Earl Grey and Matcha flavors. For reference, I've had Matcha Cafe Maiko in the past but at its San Jose location, and I enjoyed it! I will note that I got a drink at the SJ location and not ice cream, but I did like the taste of the matcha there. At this Matcha Cafe Maiko, the matcha soft serve tasted a little too much like straight matcha powder. I feel like the integration of matcha into the ice cream could've been better. The Lavender Earl Grey on the other hand was really tasty! It was not too sweet and slightly floral. read more

Super creamy soft serve! The Matcha and Ube swirl is my go-to, perfectly smooth and rich. I tried their new Calpico line this visit, and the Japanese Melon and Calpico swirl tasted like a soft serve version of a Melona bar. They have newly crafted banana pudding that promises to delight your taste buds! Available in BANANA PUDDING MATCHA LATTE and PARFAIT CUP. I tried the latter. With layers of velvety cream, ripe bananas, combined with the ube soft serve and crunchy egg waffles, every spoonful is pure bliss. You can also add your own preferred choice of toppings. Don't forget to try on the new MILO CHOCOLATE ICED MATCHA LATTE. Let me tell you...It's the perfect blend of rich chocolate and vibrant matcha. Had ube soft serve and and shaved ice matcha dessert. Ube was beyond my imagination. I've been having a lot of ube and I've had soft serve. Not every ube comes out tasty and soft serve can be too frozen and sugar bits. It was packed an hour before closing on Sunday in the mall and staff were fast and worked hard. The soft serve was smooth, sweet and delicate with strong sweet ube flavor. The shaved ice had strong matcha taste and soft sweet but not too sweet red bean side. They had a new item on menu. It was milk shave ice strawberry flavor, it wasn't what milk shave ice would be, it should be very fine and fluffy shave milk ice. This was crush shave ice with strawberry flavor, lack of syrup no fruit very disappointed just eating chopped ice. read more

After dim sum, we wandered around Flushing. Tucked into a large shopping mall, Matcha Cafe Maiko was a nice surprise. I ordered a matcha and lavender combo, swirled prettily in a paper wrapped cone. I chose a sprinkling of matcha powder, but there are a few to choose from. Then a sprig of lavender was tucked into the side for added effect. I thoroughly enjoyed this uniquely flavored dessert. At $9 the price is on the high side, so it's not an everyday option, but it was a beautiful one time experience. Service wasn't the friendliest, or the shop would've gotten 5 stars. read more

Overall, I love cafe matcha maiko - I've been to a couple across the country. I think this location is good! The reason I'm giving it a 3 is that I don't think their matcha latte is that great. I got an iced with 0 sugar (It's made with lactaid by default, but they also have oat milk) and the matcha taste was not very strong at all. From what I remember, the ice cream and other treats are pretty strong in flavor. Located on the second floor right off the escalators and in front of the food court. You can order on the kiosk or at the cashier. Does get pretty busy on weekends. read more

Matcha Cafe Maiko has top tier matcha ice cream. I was so happy that they opened in Tangram! There's a line every time I come but the line moves fast and the staff is friendly. When I came, there was matcha, hojicha, ube, and yuzu. All their flavors are amazing with rich flavors that actually stand out. I got the matcha and hojicha on a cone. I asked if I can have it in a cup with a cone on the side but unfortunately, that would've been $1 extra. Since they only do matcha + ube swirl or hojicha + yuzu swirl, they were only able to combine matcha and hojicha by putting one on top of the other, which I didn't mind at all. You can also add any of their powders on top at the end too. The cone was a delicious waffle cone, perfectly crunchy. The matcha was intense but not too bitter or sweet. The hojicha had a nice roasted flavor. Both were the perfect creamy texture too. In addition to their soft serve, they also have drinks, parfaits, floats, and more. Although prices are higher than most ice cream spots, it's not surprising for high quality matcha in NYC. read more

This location is inside the Tangram mall and is way more chill than the Manhattan one (at least on the weekday evening that I visited). Black sesame and vanilla swirl in a cone was perfect! Matcha was also great. read more
Absolutely fabulous matcha and soft serve. Tastes just like the ones in Japan. The cafe itself is really cute, you have to find seating in the food court but it wasn't too busy when I went. Some of the best matcha you can get in the US. read more

Quite disappointed at the amount of ice cream they put in the cup. The cup was not even filled up, there was plenty of empty space, I didnt get no perfect swirl as advertised and not as high as it should have been. I felt like they are lacking effort and their facial expressions looked tired and pissed off. read more
