I was in here some weeks ago looking for a portable herb vaporizer. I came in without a budget, but interested in the PAX 3. Despite what the appearance of the shop might indicate though, they didn't have it in stock. Instead the clerk claimed this competing product from a company called FlyLabs was what he would pick over the PAX, and it looked sleek enough, so I went for it. Powering up that FlyLabs vaporizer at home, I discovered that at the default power on temp the vapor was wispy at best, objectively and clearly worse than a PAX, which would strongly indicate the clerk lied about which he would choose given the option. Also, any time I tried to boost its temperature, the device immediately commenced its shut off routine, so it was dysfunctional out of the box. Then add to this that this vaporizer, like every other product in the store (a store that doesn't take returns), was marked well over retail and you're kind of begging the question of whether that was why there was no PAX, as PAX Labs is pretty strict about the PAX being the same price wherever you buy it. There were no other portable vape options unless you consider the G-Pen an option (it's not). The plug in vapes also were extremely limited having no 7th floor device, or Arizer, on display. Which leaves the glass collection, but that was similarly unimpressive. It wouldn't be tough to compete with this store on price, but just in terms of scope, there are several other shops on South Street with a better selection. There is no reason to go to this shop, and no benefit for the extra money you would pay on whatever it is you might buy. read more

As usual with these one star reviews I would give zero stars if possible. I went in last night to return an unopened pen I had just bought the same day. The guy (I believe he is a manager (although you wouldn't know it based on his customer service skills)) sold me 2 pens. One of the pens he sold me was already open and used. The manager proceeds to tell me that they do not take returns at all. I said, "Even on unopened items?" I understand this policy typically speaking but there is an exception to every rule; and when you sell people defective, opened, and/or used merchandise I would say this is a valid reason for a return. However, even though this was the fault of the business, I had a receipt from the same day, and the package was unopened, I was still refused. I will not be shopping here ever again. Arrogant and rude staff, not helpful at all, and not even very knowledgeable about what they are talking about. You might as well just blindly order something offline because if you're looking for information, you won't find it here. Matchbox is only out for your money and a sale, not your actual satisfaction. There are a ton of other head shops on South St. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else, like Nebu Philly down the street. read more
