I actually haven't even been to this office for an appointment yet( I have one scheduled at the end of January) but this review is solely for the front desk staff at the Reston location. My obgyn gave me a referral for this office towards end of December. I called today to make an appointment and the woman who answered the phone gave me a really hard time. She stated " well I don't know why but you chose to wait almost a month to make an appointment.". What she didn't know was that I tested positive for Covid the day after I received this referral and was home sick the last two weeks of December and then we had new years. This was the soonest I was able to schedule an appointment. She then told me I would be lucky to get an appointment anytime soon. After placing me on a brief hold, she told me there was availability at their fair oaks office at the end of January. I told her I would take that appointment and then I asked her what would be taking place at this appointment and she responded by telling me we were doing a genetic screening. At this point I realized I was speaking to someone who had no idea what they were talking about lol. My referral was for an ultrasound because my regular obgyn doesn't have as high of a tech ultrasound machine as this office. I asked her if this visit would include an ultrasound and she said no it's not an ultrasound it's a sonogram LOL. She also told me she's not a medical professional and cannot tell me what this visit will entail. Please if you work for this office, educate this woman. She has no idea what she's talking about. I hope the staff at the fair oaks office are much more professional. read more

I had the displeasure of visiting their Dulles office, which does not have a Yelp page, and it seems others use this page. Believe the reviews when they complain about wait times. We checked in, sat down, and after waiting about 15 minutes, another very pregnant patient, approached the desk and noted that she had been waiting over two hours and arrived with a full bladder, per their instructions. Ugh. Our appointment wasn't for another 30 minutes because we had to come early to complete paperwork (which I offered to complete and email in advance, but their rude receptionist/phlebotomist told me they might not be able to print... even though it was about a month before the appointment). The receptionist/phlebotomist is the worst part. Completely dismissive. Refuses to provide test results. And TWISTED my wrist when needing to collect blood from my fingertips. OH. And then she tried to embarrass me by telling me my health insurance card was declined. I explained the type of insurance and that I do not pay at the time of service, I am billed and it is then processed via my insurance for any balance. She tried to have me sign all kinds of papers until she finally got someone to correct her and let us leave--about 3.5 hours after we arrived. The US was incredibly awkward. While I understand that it may be more quiet or solemn due to some of the extremely complex cases they face, the tech said nothing to us during. There are signs in the room and under the monitor that say "NO PICTURES! NO VIDEOS!" which is awkward. Then, you wait with your belly hanging out for 20-30 minutes and the doctor comes in, scrolls through the photos, and re-does half of them. I was surprised that "we are delayed because a machine is down" but that they left me in that room and re-did everything. Seems like a canned excuse. Dr. Hassan is fine and straightforward with his bedside manner. No complaints other than time. Overall, unhappy with this practice and told my OBGYN I would not return. Highly recommend avoiding this practice and searching for other Maternal Fetal Specialists in the area. read more

The only reason I am giving this office/practice one star is because we are post COVID in more ways than one. Hospitals and majority of doctor offices no longer require face mask. But his office since 2019 requires that whomever is to come to your appointment be fully vaccinated. And the funny crazy thing is that for me as a patient I was never asked or to confirm that I was fully vaccinated. This is already a high stress time for an expectant mother and to but these types of limitations I feel is ridiculous. This is the ONLY office I have been too in the last almost 3 years with this requirement, not even my primary OB/GYN requires vaccination. Mask okay, I get it, to each his own. The doctor is very nice and polite. The front desk staff is very rude and non cooperative... They won't agree to call my insurance for a authorization and don't even know proper CPT codes for tests. If I had an option I would surely switch to another doctor. The best point is their location as they are close to the hospital and the Ob-Gyn. read more

Everything about this place is terrible. Front desk staff is rude. Billing is awful & a nightmare to deal with. Worst of all, the docs have the worst bedside manner & are incredibly incompetent. They're not on your side & in my experience have no qualms about causing you grief & not being thorough. The BEST equipment! The best nurses who do the sonograms! I have never had a bad experience; the ladies up front are super sweet and the docs are great. I know it all Sounds so generic (and I sound a bit like Trump... Bleh) but I honestly don't have anything bad to say. I am just so happy every time I go because I get to see my baby on the big screen in a really plush room and I almost always get a good pic (if baby cooperates). We haven't had problems with our pregnancy so we are lucky and it has been smooth. I love going to maternal fetal associates. Thank you guys!!! read more

Have to come here due to some pregnancy issues. I've been here several times now and am getting unhappier with every time I come here again. Looking into finding a new Specialist now, as I don't feel good coming here. Here's my reasons why: * Doctors are not communicative and do not make an effort to educate the patients about what's going on! If you do not know which questions to ask (and actually ask them), you will not be given any updates except for "Everything looks fine" or "I want to start you on these meds". They never truly explain to me anything unless I particularly ask them. Also, the reason why they want to see me twice a week, is kind of vague... they just said "Because we see patients who are on medication twice a week". No further explanation to it. I also never know how safe my pregnancy is at which point, as they don't tell you. Every time I worry about my pregnancy or the baby, they don't say much to educate me about my concerns. They just nod it off. * Dr. Basil Maghak is probably one of the worst Doctors I ever had to deal with! He's a very grumpy and irritated man, and I don't feel that he is on the patient's side, but only there to do "business". He does not communicate well, has bad manners, is quite rude and easily irritated. If he doesn't like something about a result, he doesn't try to investigate further by talking to his patients, but he will absolutely talk to down to you. He accused me of not telling the truth about a health issue (again, he didn't even take the time to ask me about anything but went straight ahead to accuse me). When I tried to discuss the issue with him, he again stated that it can't be true the way I explained it. I have maybe once or twice encountered a Doctor this rude. And I mean, they get paid because of me, then at least try to do your best as MY Doctor. I don't need someone to hold my hand and I'm not made of sugar, but while going through a rough pregnancy with many things on my plate to deal with, I can at least expect some kindness, some understanding and a Doctor who is attentive and believes what his patients say. If you don't have the nerve to talk to people and find out what's truly going on, you should work with machines! I will absolutely not consult this Doctor again. * Wait time is long! The wait time can be "only" 20 minutes to over an hour. Regardless if you're on time. This office is totally over booked (all about making money money money). * You never see they same Doctor and you cannot establish a proper patient-doctor relationship as it should be. This place feels like a factory that you are being passed through. It's cold, impersonal and purely about the business of money. I don't think that the Doctors ever know who I am, even that I've been coming here for over two months for twice a week. * Parking is far away! If you have a special condition and can't walk far, then you'll have a problem as this office also doesn't offer valet parking. The next parking lot is far across the street behind the other medical building (and even there parking space can be hard to find). Have someone who can drive and drop you off or find a different place. * The one star - well, I'd give that to Dr. Jessie Marquis who seems to be more humane and caring than the other Doctors. He at least knows how to be respectful towards patients and seems to have a heart. Also most of the Ultrasound Techs are very nice and that made the visits more endurable. read more

I normally don't take time from my busy life to review a business, but my experience at MFAMA was so horrible I had to share my experience, and hopefully save someone the headache they cause me and my husband. So where should I start......... 1.BILLING LADY: The lady that handled my billing issue name (Laura) was so rude and unprofessional! She didn't care about any of my concerns regarding my bill. She has no customer service skill, and the way she spoke to the young lady at the front desk was VERY rude and unprofessional. 2.WAIT TIME: I waited over an hour EVERY-TIME I came for an appointment. ********************WARNING*******************SAVE YOUR BABY!!! This practice is AMATEUR HOUR AT ITS BEST!!!! I went to the Reston location for a 20 week sonogram to find out my baby's sex. The poor execuse of a Dr. They are pushing and only interested in the cash that your visit will bring. I brought in my mom and teenage daughters to witness the miraculous imaging of their baby sister/granddaughter and he walks in the room with a DEATH face. I was absolutely petrified. So I sent my children out and kept my mother there for moral support. He then proceeds to tell me that my baby is not growing at a normal pace and that the only options I had to look forward to was termination of my pregnancy or a still born child. I was absolutely mortified. There was absolutely zero compassion or empathy. Needless to say I walked out of there hysterically crying and determined to get a second opinion. After visiting another practice and being admitted into the hospital guess what I gave birth @ 25 weeks to a beautiful baby girl that weighed a mere 13 ounces and was 10 inches long. Well let me tell you my baby is a fighter and beat all of the odds and is here living, breathing with not one DAMN thing wrong with her. Shout out to the greatest Neonatal Practice in the DMV - FAIRFAX NICU - If you have any concerns or high risk pregnancy the drive is more than worth it! My daughter spent 120 days in their NICU and I owe her life to them!!!! read more

I came here for my second pregnancy... at first it was a normal pregnancy,but became high risk when my water broke at 30 weeks !!! All the doctors came to the hospital to see me and answer all my questions. I love this practice! I have been able to rely on the Doctors and staff with my first and now my second pregnancy. I have read some of the other reviews and I think the negative ones are missing some important information. *Wait Time: This office is not only utilized for 20 week appointments, they are a high risk practice. They are typically busy from open to close because Moms and moms-to-be need reassurance that their tiny human is healthy. So, sometimes you will wait to be seen because they are more than willing to take emergency situations, it is what they are their for. While I can respect that everyone has their schedules... If you are a parent or a first time parent you have to learn at some point that your time is no longer your own. Be smart, be accountable, get to the appointment early and be prepared to wait. This is about your tiny human. Waiting is out of the offices control. ** They Take Time and Care: When you are seen by the ultrasound techs or doctors, they take the time to get every cute picture and take every measurement. This is another peeve I have with the negative reviews. It is our responsibility as parents to ask about our children to the point of being annoying. Every visit I have (Once a Month) I ask all the same questions, I have the whole process reexplained to me every time like it is my first time. I am always met with positivity and support. *** Due Diligence: The office makes sure to go over every form, and confirm your appointment in multiple ways. They are knowledgable about that they are asking you to sign, and are happy answer any questions about scheduling or procedures. ****Easy ultrasound pictures: The practice recently switched to text alert ultrasound pictures. So much easier than collecting reams of paper. Bottom Line - If you are going to MFAMA keep in mind what type of practice it is. Keep in mind that if your going for more than one appointment you probably have some parental anxiety. I wish there was an option for NO STARS!! VERY POOR!! The staff is very good with the New Patients, but as the patients become regular they become very rude, they make them wait like hell!! they are not sympathetic.!! everyone sitting in the lobby are Pregnant and the wait time just makes them so stressed out and frustrated!! (my personal experience) and when asked how long will it take., everytime they have only one answer--- "THERE IS AN EMERGENCY AT THE BACK" i have heard this reply everytime I asked them for the wait time!! (5 visits and all the 5 Visits were horrible) At this one visit after my ultrasound my husband and I were left unattended in the ultrasound room for 1 hour, when my husband went to enquire what took so long, the staff in the front desk and the nurses shouted and talked rudely to my husband! The last visit of mine to MFAMA the wait time was 2hours!! after 2hrs I was called in!! I would never recommend this to any Pregnant ladies!! read more

I was referred due to high-risk and have had 2 appointments so far. Wait times were 5-10 minutes at most and everyone I have encountered is very pleasant. While they did stress the desire and importance of testing, I was given the opportunity to voice my opinion and they were not bothered when I turned them down. Abosolutly the worst office! Before my appointment I had asked for what my cost would be for my appointment. I was told by one of their front desk that she would text me and inform me. I never got the text! So I show up and fill out the paperwork and I asked about my copayment would be for today she said none, but worse case it would be my deductible and a a bit more. I guess because I said "copayment" and not what my cost would be she said none. After being at the office for 3 hours I go to check out and I'm charged over $400 for my visit when I said I was told that I wouldn't have to pay she said sorry but we have to collect. Which fine I work in the medical field and I understand copayments are due at the time of service. I paid the cost. Couple weeks go by and I get my EOB from my insurance and this office over charged me. I called the office and spoke to someone in their billing who then told me that they have not received payment as of yet from my insurance and that she would flag my account. My appt was in Jan and I called in mid feb. Now March I call back and speak to their billing department who confirms I have a credit. She then tells me I have to call their Reston office to request my refund. I call The office and the person on the phone informs me that she has to take payments before she can issue my refund since they just opened. I'm like okay not really understanding why, then she calls me back later and ask for my card information to refund me. I provide this information not thinking twice at the moment to check my account as soon as she told me it can take up to 3 to 5 days. I was busy at work didn't think much of it until I got off and check my bank account and instead of crediting my money back she charged me what my credit should be. Now I had to leave message to request double my refund and for a manager to call me. This is completely ridiculous! I completely understand paying for the service but if I'm due my credit then I shouldn't have to consistently call to get it and when I'm expected I shouldn't be charged again. read more

I have never encountered such incompetent office staff in a medical office. One receptionist that read me the wrong results to my prenatal genetic tests and caused a lot of unnecessary anxiety for a whole week before I got the report in the mail!!! I requested to speak to the doctor about it and she said the doctor doesn't take calls, even though they charged almost $1k for their services. And yet another receptionist was really irked that I was calling for test results, only to find out that she had not faxed my test results to my ob doctor. And another receptionist has such a heavy foreign accent, it's impossible to understand what she's saying esp over the phone. This receptionist also had no manners and called my partner to the counter assuming that he would would pay all the med bills. read more

***Warning*** DO NOT GO HERE!! This practice should be avoided. I have had the poorest experience at the Gainesville location. My doctor (OBGYN) ordered second level ultrasound (second pregnancy). They were pleasant enough at the front desk. We discussed my second level ultrasound would be approximately 500 copay.The technician came in and did my second level ultrasound and a vaginal ultrasound and confirmed that the doctor would be in to review my results. I expected to leave shortly after his review of the scan. He proceeded to do another abdominal ultrasound and vaginal ultrasound without reviewing the previous ultrasound results. He did not discuss with me the reason for the extra ultrasounds. We mostly talked about the election and politics. I asked if what he saw was concerning and he said no, however he mentioned that I had polyps and fibroids, which my OBGYN is aware of. When he was done he recommended that I retuned every 2 weeks for additional ultrasounds to, in his words, "catch something before it happens". In my mind I am thinking - Oh okay, you'd like to charge my insurance company on a bi-weekly basis for your unwarranted services. Yay for you! Prior to releasing me from the examination room, the doctor recommended that I have my blood drawn to test for down syndrome. I initially accepted but when we were finished I changed my mind. The lab technician asked me 3 times if she could draw my blood, assuring me that she is really great at drawing blood and I should allow her to try. I thought this was a little aggressive for my taste. I didn't intend to have blood work done that day as my OB offered the same test at their office. The first "no" should have been recognized and we should have moved on from there. Anyways, my copay ended up being twice as much at the end of the visit than what was quoted (1,000). When checking out I asked if I could work out a payment plan for the remainder of the balance and my request was declined. They ended up billing me for the remainder and added a $50 billing fee to the statement. It cost them 47 cents to mail out the statement. I feel that I understand the motives of this practice and it is not about patient care... If it were I'd be included in the decision making process in terms of treatment. They would listen when the patient refuses treatment... I would not recommend this practice. read more

I have been to MFAMA several times. The doctors are knowledgable, but if you are looking for good bedside manor, probably not the best place to go. They aren't very personable. The ultrasound techs are fairly nice, but I seem to get a different one every time I go. Here is why I am giving MFAMA one star - The front desk staff is awful. God awful. The lady who does scheduling and billing (her name is Helen), is completely incompetent at her job. I called her multiple times, yet each time I call, she acts like she has never spoken with me before. Even if I had spoken with her earlier that week. I have to explain my entire situation every time I call. She claims she "takes notes", but that is a load of crap. I called her to reschedule my appointment, because my new insurance card had not arrived yet and I cannot afford to self-pay (which she claimed I would have to do if I did not have my new insurance card). I knew I would have the card by the end of the week, so I told her to go ahead and schedule me the following week. So she did. (Or so I thought). A few days later I got my insurance card, so I called Helen to give her my insurance information (rather then making them process it the morning of my appointment). She took down the insurance info, but then informed me that I do not have an appointment scheduled at all. I informed her I called and scheduled an appointment 2 days ago, and that she was the one that I spoke with. She claimed I never told her to schedule an appointment. She basically called me a liar and kept saying "You're not on the schedule, so you don't have an appointment." I assured her that I DID have an appointment, because she had told me specifically 9:30AM on Monday was available and I told her that works for me. Her response to that was, "When I schedule a patient, I do it right away. You never scheduled an appointment". UNBELIEVABLE! This lady was calling me a liar, when I know for a FACT that I scheduled an appointment through her. Why would I make up 9:30 AM on Monday? That's pretty specific. I know I scheduled the appointment because I immediately put it on my work calendar, and told my employer the same day to inform them. Helen was extremely rude and did not even apologize or try to understand. She just kept telling me that I never did scheduled. Has this woman never heard of "the customer is always right"? Clearly not. Now the appointment slot is taken, and none of the other times she gave me worked with my schedule. I am so frustrated with this office because of her, and I am going to start looking for another high-risk OB, because this is just causing me extra stress. EDIT: I canceled my appointment all-together after speaking with my OB. My OB explained that I did not need to keep going to MFAMA, that everything that they were doing at this point were things they could do at my OB's office. So basically, this office is just trying to take my money. Oh, and to top it off, 2 days after I canceled my appointment, Helen called my cell phone while I was at work and left me a nasty voicemail claiming that I had told her my insurance info "too late" and now I owe over $375 dollars. So ridiculous. I have done everything I can to communicate with MFAMA and my insurance company, and have given them all of the proper information as soon as it was given to me. I have never dealt with such rude, incompetent staff in my life. They take no responsibility for their own laziness, mistakes, and lack of communication. NEVER going back there. This practice is PHENOMENAL. The Doctors and staff are amazing!!!! They work very hard to ensure a healthy baby and a healthy mama. I was surprised to see some of the negative posts about the Dr.'s in this practice. These Physicians are working for the health of my unborn child and I appreciate their candor. After being diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, Dr. Basil Maghak took the time to sit with me and explain what it was, how it affects pregnancy, and what we needed to do about it. I genuinely felt his concern for not only my health but that of my child. He's a highly competent physician and definitely gets 5 stars from this patient!!!!! The Leesburg office staff is AMAZING too, I absolutely love the front desk staff and ultrasound techs! They are kind, knowledgeable and create a very welcoming atmosphere! As for wait times, I have never had to wait at Leesburg. I haven't been to any other location but I imagine if there is a delay it is because they have to see someone urgently and if that's the case, I'm not going to complain. This office has moved to Pavilion II suite 258. They will make you wait foreverrrr so make sure if you are the pregnant one to eat before hand!!!!! Even if you schedule the first appointment, you will be waiting an eternity! They only seem to have one doctor available at a time and two technicians. I have been coming to their appointments throughout my 7 months of pregnancy so be prepared to take 2-3 hours for your appointment. Also they did not inform us they had moved location (they claimed to stamp a receipt but we have federal insurance and don't have copays so we didn't get a receipt) and two days ago when they called to confirm the appointment, they didn't think to let me know they had moved. Mind you, appointments can be made one month ahead of time so whenever they decided to start letting people know of the location move, I guess we didn't make the cut off and ended up walking all over creation to the new office location. The woman who mans the front desk is the most patient, most helpful, most competent person at any medical office front desk that I've ever dealt with. Somehow I accidentally made an appointment with the Leesburg office, but arrived at Reston at my appointment time. She figured out the problem very quickly and called the Leesburg office to say that they were going to squeeze me in to Reston, and not to charge me as a no-show. I could not have been more relieved! That extraordinary accommodation and calmness is what got me to log on and review. The ultrasound technicians have all been expedient and professional, like you would expect from a high-risk pregnancy examiner. But they're also sure to give you those cute baby photos that you're secretly hoping for... :) The other reviewer is right. I have always had QUITE a wait! 1.5 hours the first time, 1 hour the second. Bring a book! And if you have other children, get a babysitter. That is a must. read more

This is our third high risk pregnancy going through Maternal Fetal. There have been times where some of the doctor's bluntness and bedside manner left a lot to be desired, but their overall knowledge and prudent judgment have left us satisfied that we are in good hands. There are two receptionists we normally deal with in the Reston office. I don't know their names, but one is very nice and the other is rude and condescending. It is very easy to tell the difference between the two. The rude one constantly argues with us over what our insurance covers, even when we try to explain we have had the same insurance for three pregnancies, and we always have issues just trying to schedule an appointment with her. She gets very annoyed with us when we ask for different dates and times because she's busy texting right in front of us on her cell phone. The wait times have always been out of control. Now on our third time through we always book the 8:30 first appointment of the day. However, we still have to wait at least 10 minutes each appointment to be seen. This morning we waited 15 minutes. There is a sign at the receptionists desk that says if a patient is 15 minutes late they will give away the appointment and have to try and work you in. I don't understand how they can keep that up when they are 15 minutes late for the first appointment. If I was late to my job each day, I would be fired. I'm not sure why this is allowed to continue. I respect the doctors greatly, but better organization, punctuality, and the removal of the one receptionist would really improve the practice. read more

This review is for the Fair Oaks Office. Our baby girl was born without complication this past month. We received outstanding care from Dr. Hassan at MFAMA. He collaborated with my OB to help ensure a safe delivery. Since I had a high-risk pregnancy, the doctors made sure that I had extensive testing throughout the pregnancy to verify that our little girl was healthy. Office staff: My husband and I exclusively went to the Fair Oaks Office. We never had an issue with the office staff. We only wanted to see Dr. Hassan toward the end of my pregnancy, and they were accommodating of that request when scheduling my appointments. They even called me at one point to let me know his availability when I had to schedule in advance. I did not have to deal with anyone in billing. Sonographers: Outstanding. I believe Gina and Mary Ann were the names of my sonographers. The sonogram was always our favorite part of these (otherwise stressful) appointments. The sonographers were very thorough and explained what they were doing at each point of the exam, so we never felt in the dark about what we were looking at. There are flat screen TVs in each room so you get a nice view of your little one during the exam. The exam tables are pretty comfortable too, with a big fluffy pillow. Wait Time: If you don't want to wait, go first thing in the morning. Because of my husband's work schedule, we consistently had 2:30 or 3:30 appointments. We would wait 45 minutes to an hour to be seen. We prepared for it and brought work or an iPad with us. We didn't complain though, because Dr. Hassan and the sonographers never rushed us. I believe the reason they run behind is that they take a lot of time with each patient and answer all your questions. Facility: The Fair Oaks office is newly built, clean and beautiful! Parking is pretty easy, too--there is a surface lot and a parking garage near the office. Doctors: At the beginning of my pregnancy, we saw Dr. Maghak and Dr. Elkhousy. Dr. Maghak needs A LOT of work on his bedside manner, and in my opinion belongs in a lab rather than working with women in high-risk situations. At our 20 week appointment, he speculated incorrectly that I had a very serious pregnancy complication. He unceremoniously delivered this (inaccurate) news in a way that traumatized both me and my husband. While I can appreciate that he wanted to rule out a potentially serious complication, he did not explain anything about the condition, and on top of that, he was firing pointed questions at me that made me feel as though it was my fault. He was even googling images on the computer in front of us to determine if he was right about his diagnosis! We also asked if we should reschedule our long planned summer trip because of the potential complication, and he advised us "to definitely cancel, because if you're not near a hospital, you could hemorrhage and die." His exact words. I was horrified. It took us 3.5 years at the fertility clinic to get pregnant with our baby. Dr. Maghak needs to look at his patients as people. Consider our feelings. This was a long and stressful road for us, made exponentially worse by his uncaring demeanor. We found him cold, brusque and unprofessional. My understanding after researching and reading reviews is that many women feel this way about him. I spent a week in full-on meltdown mode because of what he told us, only to find out that he was wrong. We saw Dr. Elkhousy once. He correctly identified a pregnancy complication that remained with me until delivery. We thought he did a great job of explaining this to us in detail while not being alarmist. His more laid-back energy put us at ease, despite getting some stressful news. We finally ended up seeing Dr. Hassan for the last five months of my pregnancy. He is the most experienced doctor in the practice. He is a gem! He has a warm and caring energy that, in my opinion, is imperative to working in perinatal medicine. He took his time with us, answered our questions, advised us of restrictions, and was positive yet realistic and straightforward about my pregnancy complication. In the end, I had an emergency c-section, but it was uncomplicated. I knew what to expect, as he and my OB had prepared me in a kind way for the best and worst possible scenarios. We now have a beautiful and healthy baby girl. Overall, I would recommend MFMA and especially Dr. Hassan. I felt that (apart from our experience with Dr. Maghak), I received caring and comprehensive care at this practice. Do your research, and don't be afraid to request a specific doctor! This is too important of a time in your life to accept less than exceptional care. read more

I am writing this because I'm astonished at the bad reviews. I understand most people don't write reviews if they are happy however I was. I saw MFAMA for my pregnancy last year and I loved them. I had many health issues and needed to see them weekly. I was seen in both the Reston and Leesburg offices and the staff was always very polite. The doctors took the time to answer all of my questions. I did have to wait in the waiting room for some visits but I also knew they are high risk doctors dealing with issues I wouldn't want to happen to me. I definitely wouldn't have wanted them to rush me while I was in the room asking questions. I am so thankful that our daughter is here and healthy. Thank you MFAMA! read more

Unfortunately I've had to start going to maternal fetal for issues with my current pregnancy and have been treated exceptionally well with this practice as a whole. Patricia and Melissa were very helpful, and were able to get me in, in a timely fashion. They were able to answer my billing questions and were very professional (I'm sure they saw the fear in my eyes) haha! The radiology tech was extremely kind and reassuring and I got some great images of my little guy which helped ease some of my anxiety, I would definitely recommend them to any of my girlfriends needing to see a specialist. read more

My husband and I were very happy with our service at Maternal Fetal Associates. I was referred by my OB for 2 appointments with them and both times the wait time was very reasonable. The doctor provided us with all information necessary and was honest but reassuring. The front desk staff was friendly and very efficient and the sonographer was pleasant as well. I just wanted to share my experience with Dr. Marquis Latrell Jessie and hopefully prevent other moms-to-be from what I had to go through in their Gainsville location. It is a long review, but please read it and hopefully it will help you to make a decision and go see another doctor. I went to his office to do my 1st trimester scan, after reviewing my folder he noticed that I am a carrier for one of the genetic diseases. I was aware of this condition and spoke with certified genetic counselor who informed me that with this condition my baby will have 50% chance to be a carrier and be normal, just like I am. There is 0% chance that the baby will have the disease. Dr Jessie, however, assured me that I was provided the incorrect information and that there is 50% chance my baby will be affected by the disease. He also told me that I should do the testing to find out the sex of the baby and if it is a boy I may need to terminate the baby! I did the necessary blood work as he suggested (he draw my blood himself and did not put any gloves on - it was my first time in medical facility this happened to me). I went to see a different genetic counselor as well to get a different opinion and sure enough they confirmed that there is no risk for the baby to get the disease. Dr. Jessie was completely unknowledgeable about this subject but he made me believe otherwise. I went through such a stress, tears and fear of losing my baby while waiting for genetic counselor appointment. Great news for me - it is in the past and my baby will be ok, doesn't matter what sex it is! Couple of weeks later I have received a bill for $2,700 from testing facility Dr. Jessie sent my results to. As turned out they do not except my insurance policy and I would have to pay out of pocket. When I called Dr. Jessie`s office, I was told that whatever charge I got is between me and the lab facility. Also, I was told that they do not verify insurance information before sending the blood out and that the test that was done to me was my own decision and I had a right to refuse. I explained to Brenda, the person I spoke to, that I based my decision upon the information that Dr. Jessie provided me with, which was completely incorrect. On which she responded that she cannot really discuss with me the professionalism and skills of the doctor.... So I had to let it all go. I had the worst experience in that office. Dr. Jessie is the most unprofessional and unknowledgeable doctor I have ever dealt with. I still cannot believe that he told a pregnant woman that she may need to terminate the baby WITHOUT HAVING ANY CLUE WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT, just so he can charge more money to the insurance company. I hope that this review will help to make other patients decision to STAY AWAY FROM DR. MARQUIS JESSIE AND HIS OFFICE. I just wish I have read other reviews online before going there. read more

I was referred by my OB because I'm pregnant with twins. I have had a few complications throughout my pregnancy. But have been very assured by working with MFA throughout, because of the time and energy they devote to me and my babies' care. My daughter has a heart defect that was diagnosed by Dr. Jesse. Their equipment is so detailed they were able to see everything. When the fetal cardiologist told me they couldn't see me for two weeks, Dr. Jesse called their office immediately and got us an earlier appointment. He took the time and extra care to ensure my baby was getting the attention she needed. I can't thank him enough for that extra effort. Their front office staff greets me by name and is so kind and patient with all my questions. Since my daughter has a heart defect we've had to coordinate with multiple providers. And their office staff has been extremely responsive and gotten all of our records sent to the other physician offices, relieving a lot of my stress. I know people complain about having to wait sometimes. I think I can explain why that is. They don't rush through your appointments here. The day we found out about my girl's heart issue, my appointment ran over an hour because so many additional scans were required. I know other people had to wait because of this. But what I try to remember when that happens is that I'm waiting because the staff are taking the time needed for their patient, and I know they will always do the same for me. They aren't in the back twiddling their thumbs. They are treating high risk pregnancies. I would take their care and devotion over a short wait any day of the week. read more

Worse office staff I have ever encountered. Went for a sonogram. My appointment was scheduled for 1:45, I arrived at 1:31. Was asked if I brought in my appointment paper work. I had not, was quickly told that I was suppose to arrive 15 minutes early if I had not brought my paper work. I ignored the tone the staff gave me, took my paper work and had it completed turned in along with my referral within 10 minutes. I then waited in the office for 55 minutes before being called back for my appointment. Although I find that enough of an issue to give this business 1. It is not what was truly the most upsetting part of my visit. While waiting in the waiting room another lady came in. She did not have her paper work with her. The office snapped at her, raised their voice at her and then slammed the office glass in her face. The worse part is they laughed and talked about her. I am guessing they are not aware that you can hear every thing they are saying behind that cheap glass. After watching the humiliate that lady I confronted them and told them their actions were unacceptable. I have never seen such poor behavior from adult office staff. I would never recommend this place for anyone. It was the most disheartening thing to see adult woman treating a pregnant woman in such an awful manner. The staff should be ashamed of themselves as should an employer that allows such actions from their staff. read more

0 stars for Reston. They will make you wait at least an hour or two. One of the Dr try to scare you for additional testing that's not needed. The nurses are so useless they cant even draw blood correctly. Save your time go somewhere else. But their ultrasound machine is good. read more

My wife and I have seen the Doctors and staff at Maternal Fetal for both of our children and they have always been great. From the friendliness/promptness of the front desk staff to the professional attitude and high competence of the Doctors we would definitely recommend them to any of our friends who need to see high risk OBGYNs for one reason or another. Although I rarely review places other than hotels and restaurants, I felt compelled to because of the service we received. read more
