This rating is for an employee at Mathis Bros. I have had a problem with an order and have had difficulty getting it addressed. Val Serrano is a salesperson there although not the person I placed my order with. She has gone way out of her way to check on the status of my order, to keep me updated, always responds to texts and phone calls. If you're shopping at this store, ask for her! She is the epitome of someone you want to work with!!! I'd give her more stars if I could. read more

Purchased a bed along with other items on 12/23/18. It's been 48 days (7 weeks) and our bed has yet to arrive. Here's the kicker...I was told my bed would be at our home on 1/6, then 1/20, then 1/27, then 2/6. Now mind you, I never received a call from Mathis brothers regarding updates. I had to call in every time. The final straw, I called in on 2/7. Since again I wasn't called. Was told the bed was finally in as of Monday 2/4. Set up delivery for Saturday 2/9. They also offered a $50 discount on the bed. I'd receive a call from accounting to credit my card back. Never received a call from delivery department confirming Saturday delivery time. Never received a call from accounting for refund. I called in Saturday morning trying to secure a time of delivery, to my surprise, my bed is not set for delivery after all. 2 months! No calls. 2 months no bed! Now this? If I could take back my entire sale I would. Almost $9k in items. Zero assistance after the sale from my sales rep (I won't mention a name so Mathis brothers can't request removal of this review), zero assistance from anyone after 7 weeks of waiting. If at all possible, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE to buy your furniture! Do not buy from here! Spend your money somewhere else. Tax refunds coming for most, the time for these guys to make some money. We purchased a new home and had to completely furnish it with all new furniture. We went to Mathis Brothers and have been working with our designer Sally Elatrozy! She has done a wonderful job designing almost every room in our home! Sally listened to all of our needs and was able to hit a home run with our designs!! There were some set backs due to the climate of our world with delays but Sally kept us constantly informed and the lines of communication are always open any time of day and evening!!! Went today to buy some sofas. Ank Lam assisted me and he was perfect he wasnt pushy or anything and was very pleasant to work with. He gave us our space while we walked around brousing going back and forth up and down and he was so patient funny and very helpful. He even moved a table for us so we can see what it looked like near our sofa. He was perfect and was even trying to grab pillow ideas and colors for us. I really enjoyed the experience i had today and he even congratulated us on our purchase. read more

I wrote a positive 5 star review a few months ago about this establishment however our situation has changed drastically. We purchased 2 La-Z-Boy recliners (over $1000) and we picked them up and brought them home. We discovered that the return mechanisms make a horrendous noise when closing the foot support and it doesn't extend high enough to be in a relaxed position (plus a few other problems). We're told that because they ordered them from La-Z-Boy it's considered a "Special Order" and that we're stuck with them poor quality and all. They state it's our fault for not noticing the problems at the showroom and they REFUSED to exchange them. We didn't alter anything about the chairs to be considered a special order they simply don't store them in their warehouse. But this is the way the safeguard themselves from having to deal with their suppliers. So SCREW the customers and make their fortune on 1 time deals. I'm sure we're not the ONLY ONES whom been had by these shysters. We have been long time loyal customers long before "Rit" became their spokesman and I certainly don't intend to be robbed out of my hard earned money and be silent about it. La-Z-Boy is not a cheap brand and why 2 big giants in the industry can't find a way to make things right for their customers is beyond me. The so called customer service rep only repeats what's on her script about them being special order items and never offered to speak with her superior. They sent a contractor out who admitted that this is a major complaint about the brand but it's considered a "Safety issue". Good grief, aren't there any quality control protocols at any of these establishments or concern enough about their brand??? I will be communicating with La-Z-Boy directly and I will keep everyone posted. Let me know if you've been had by this so called policy at Mathis Bros. I'm curious on how many of us are out there. I did ask to speak with Rit about this situation because I find it hard to believe he would be in agreement with this attitude/policy. I didn't have any intentions of going public with this but the customer rep told me boldly "that will not happen; he doesn't get involved with such matters". FINAL REVISION 11/14/18 It's been a few months since my last review of this establishment so here goes. Mathis Bros. did make a final offer after many attempts to settle this dispute. They generously offered to "replace" the defective chairs but only after us agreeing to pay a 30% "restocking charge which was absurd on their part. Their "Customer Retention Mgr" (Jennifer) got quite huffy and gave us her ultimate offer. They would accept the defective chairs with no restocking fees but we had to agree on NEVER RETURNING to their store again, true story. We happily accepted the offer and took the bloody chairs back and received our check in the mail a couple of weeks later. Exchange went smooth. Replacement piece came in early. Delivery again was quick and efficient. It was delayed past delivery window but we were given a $50 credit as compensation. I'll be back to the showroom for next purchase. UPDATE 5 days and one piece broke. Promise of replacement- none in stock, next shipment end of October. Let's see how this plays out... Wonderful experience start to finish. Our salesman, Issac, helped me on my first visit then again when I returned with my husband and son. After showing us numerous pieces we decided on Couch, love seat and recliner. He offered us options as applied without any pressure to add them. We got the whit glove delivery and were very pleased. The guys were quick and knowledgeable. Had every thing placed and operating in no time. There was also a call to customer service while they were still there to confirm everything was good. May of 2018 we Purchased $2400.00 in furniture from Mathis Brothers Furniture store in Ontario California which included two recliner chairs...In these 8 months the Recliner chairs pillows started breaking down also we are sitting on the chair frames. We called several times to get someone to come look at these chairs. Finally after two weeks of constantly calling we got a guy to come out..He stated that the quality of these Chairs are not good that he could recommend Putting in a better quality pillow in the chairs..Never heard from anyone at Mathis Brothers so today we call and they will not put in the higher quality pillow filling. Mathis brothers will not replace or refund our money..We are stuck with junk..Customer service here is awful..It saddens me they could take my hard-earned money and not back up there products they're selling..I recommend staying away from this company or any company that doesn't care about their Furniture or customers.. read more

Wishing we had looked at reviews first. Our in store experience was pleasant but after being sold on a bedroom set we were told the bed frame would not come until a month later (April 1st). March 31st rolls around and we have not heard about any delivery times. We call and find out that the delivery was pushed to May 1st (we hope). Extremely frustrated but already in too deep. We knew we were having our families over for a housewarming early April and we're excited to show off our furniture. Guess not. Update: May 18th and still no bed. They gave us 10% off the first time it was late but now there's nothing else we can do. Our seller recommended buying a different one even though we have the entire matching set already. read more

I will NEVER shop with Mathis Brothers again! I have never dealt with a company with such horrible communication. Two weeks after we purchased our order in store, I went online to check the status of our account. I couldn't believe what I saw. We had a balance of almost $3,000 because some how someone else's order was placed on our account and no one ever caught it. If I never checked my account online, I honestly don't know if anyone would have caught it. When I called in and told the rep what happened, I was told multiple times, by many reps, that sometimes when people call in and inquire about an item, it is inadvertently added to their account. Funny thing, I had never called in about anything. It was a bogus excuse. It took multiple calls and hours of my time to resolve this issue. Additionally, my order was scheduled for six weeks out. Through the entire six weeks, I never received one communication to advise if it was as scheduled, delayed or anything. I kept checking on my account and saw nothing. After my delivery date passed, I called to follow up to find out that all of my furniture but one piece was available. I asked if I could get what they had and they said yes. Again, why hadn't anyone contact me to tell me this? I'm high risk pregnancy and we were waiting for our dining furniture and even one chair would have been appreciated. I scheduled with the rep a delivery date based on Mathis Brother's schedule (she even sent me the calendar) and our schedule. Today, the day before the delivery, I contact Mathis Brothers because we had not received any communication about a delivery window. When I contacted a rep, I found out the delivery, without any confirmation from me, was moved. The date now does not work for us. I contacted corporate and they said they can see in their system it was rescheduled but no explanation. The fact that they assume people are just going to be available is absurd. Now because of their schedule and ours, I need to wait another 15 days to receive the first part of my order. I understand that part of the current delay is due to my schedule and Mathis Brothers, but the fact that I had scheduled it two weeks prior to be delivered tomorrow and no one ever contacted me to say they moved the date, or the fact that no one over the last almost eight weeks every reached out to us with any status is extremely frustrating. read more

Customer service is awful! We purchased over $3,000 of furniture. The wrong footboard was delivered. Rather than accommodating us with prompt delivery of the correct piece so we could use the bed, we are forced to wait 3 days - and delivery will be made at their convenience so I will need to take time off work to wait for the delivery. I talked to Dan, the manager, and all he would do is pay for PART of the delivery charge. Guess we won't be shopping here any more! read more

I was attempting to return home - at the end of a long dead end street - and shortly after turning on to the street I encountered a Mathis Brothers delivery truck blocking the entire street. this was because a car was parked in front of the house to which they were delivering and they could not be bothered to walk an extra 20-30 feet. I honked and the delivery persons just looked at me and continued their delivery. After a substantial wait, they moved the truck allowing a car trying to leave and my car to proceed. This was not only inconsiderate in the extreme, but also (according to the Police Department) illegal. While the in-store staff may be courteous, this lack of consideration and disregard of legality indicates that you would be better served patronizing a different furniture store. read more

My parents recently purchased a new house and it has been difficult finding a good furniture store where we could get good quality staple pieces. We decided to come to Mathis Brothers as a recommendation from our real estate agent. When we walked into the store it was really overwhelming since we've never really been to such a large furniture store. We ended up meeting with sales rep Carol Lam and she was great! She was polite, courteous, and most importantly very patient with us. Another plus is that she was able to speak Cantonese and Mandarin to further help my parents. Carol was very informative on all the different types of furniture. She would constantly go back and forth to make sure everything we needed was in stock. We spent about three hours with her looking for complete living, dinning, and bedroom sets. We ended up purchasing a lot of new furniture and the only downside is that the delivery cost is 5% of your total purchase, which can start to add up very quickly. Our first delivery was scheduled two days after we purchased. The two men worked quickly and it took them about 2 hours to unload and set everything up. Turns out my parents got the wrong bedroom set, but after talking to Carol, everything got cleared up and we got the correct set with our next delivery. We ended up noticing a big crack on one of the sofas and quickly contacted customer service about it and they let us keep the couch till they sent us the replacement. Overall, Carol's customer service was great and the delivery service went really smooth. Great shopping experience and I would definitely recommend meeting with Carol for any of your furniture needs! read more

We decided to look on online, we then decided to go look. This place is huge. As soon as we walked in Rosemary Ramirez took us under her wing. She was attentive to our needs. I can't even give this furniture store one star, it is the worst furniture store I have by far EVER bought from, I bought a table and chairs from them and the sales man tried to include all the extras for at least 1,000 more I said no I don't want any extras insured and delivery, he took of after he automatically tried to charge it. Second nightmare was my table is the worst peace of furniture I have ever owned my chairs fell apart literally and a year later I am still waiting on parts and a technician to fix , my table itself is horrible chipped within a month and someone came out to touch up and it happened again within a week we'll they took my table kept it for a month and tried to deliver the same damaged table with nothing done!!! The customer service are a joke they all don't no anything say the same thing and the supervisors are just as useless and Brainless as the reps. So needless to say I had to say I want my damaged table back to sit on for thanksgiving and they are now saying it's the customer fault for my table chipping, after a year of this crap I would rather fix the table myself since I get the run around and nothing done with them, stay the hell away from this shitty ass store... you will definitely regret it read more

I bought two barstools here totaling $357. When they brought them out one was in a box and the other was in bubble wrap looking partially assembled. The delivery guy guaranteed that it was new just taken out of the box because they are shipped in packages of two and sometimes they are taken out to be sold singularly and thus wrapped. The other one, was a single unit in a box though. He told me that was all they had so I took them home. The one in bubble wrap turned out to have leather scratches so I called customer support and after 30 minutes was told that I could return the damaged chair to the store I bought it from. The second chair (in the box) could not be put together as parts did not fit well, even if I tried to use the parts from the bubble wrapped chair. (I've put together many chairs before, it wasn't me). I then returned the chairs and was given a "Credit Memo" but told to check to make sure the credit card was credited in five days. I thought that was odd but I checked and found no credit. I called and was told they have to manually send it out as only the last few numbers of the credit card are kept on file. They said it would be another 3-5 days before it showed up on my account. Summary: I bought two chairs, one damaged, the other poorly built, it is going to take up to ten days to credit my account and I had to call them to make sure they did it. read more

On December 28, 2010, I purchased a sofa, love seat and recliner from Mathis Brothers. Today is June 2, 2017, almost 6 1/2 years later. About 3 weeks ago I stopped by the store to inquire on purchasing the cable which allows the right side of the sofa to recline. I met this wonderful person in customer care named Deborah Ortiz I showed her a copy of my invoice, which she took a copy of. Deborah provided me with an email that I should forward both a picture of the cable and the invoice. Guess what, I got busy and forgot to do that. This afternoon, a package from Mathis Brother's arrived. Inside the package was the replacement cable for my sofa. It took me 15 minutes to replace and now it works perfectly. All I can say is Deborah provided awesome service and went above and beyond what I have experienced at a furniture store or any other retail store. Thank you for going the extra mile. read more

Having someone as kind , attentive and willing to go an extra mile (literally) showing me choices , located at various areas of the store ,made my time there productive and left me feeling good about shopping at this location . I felt I scoured every piece there with Rosemary's keen eye and knowledge of the pieces they carry . I left there buying several pieces that will look beautiful in my beach home . Don't Buy From here Especially the warranty!!! I purchased a couch and their extended warranty a little over a year ago for Mathis brothers in Ontario. The couch is falling apart, the material is balling up and there solution when I called about this is to roll a lint roller over the surface of the couch. I also called about the cushions not supporting and that you sink to the bottom when you sit. they were helpful in the beginning on this saying they can pick up the cushions and have them redone. I thought great they will pick up the first half so we still have some where to sit and then the second half. I received the first half of cushions back and now they are different size and they are lumpy and they still are not supportive. I have emailed and spoke with there customer service department many times and it takes them many weeks to get back to you and only when I email asking what is going on. Maria Valdez of the customer service department now informs me that I will have to pay a 70 dollar charge to have them pick up their poor workmanship product, or bring into the store. The funny thing about this is I have cheap furniture from Court in my vacation rentals that has help up better then the product from Mathis brothers. I am big on customer service and Companies doing what is right, the fact that they will not stand behind their warranties that you pay money for is a complete scam. read more

Delivery service is a joke! The driver did not get off the truck once!! We got the text "be there in 10mins" so my husband went outside to wait for him. My husband left his phone inside and missed a call from the delivery guy... we call back and get sent to voicemail, 25 mins later he called us back to say "couldn't find parking so I went to the next job." So your telling me you couldn't find parking or ring the door bell to let us know.... customer service didn't do a damn thing but try to waive a $80 fee for an order that was over $2000. By the end of the day they gave us the runaround and we asked for a refund.. so sad that the sales man lost money because of a lazy employee who couldn't even get off the truck read more

Don't go here. My parents were sold a dining set. We didn't have a chance to pick it up until yesterday but before we could, a salesman called to say if we didn't pick up our table it would get sold to someone else. In worries, we rushed to pick up our purchase. When we received it a couple of chairs were missing and when we tried to set up the table itself, we couldn't because the the screw-holes didn't line up with the each other. When you enter the store and purchase a piece of furniture from them, the Sales Associates act so nice and really do everything they can for you to have a pleasant experience at Mathis Bros..... Yeah, just wait till you call the next few weeks asking why your furniture is still not delivered. They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They lie to you, just to get their sales. One manager says one things, the next manager says another thing. It is just a complete mess. This is our experience. I went to this place because I found them online and the gf and I were looking for a couch. So we went and a Sales Associate was helping us out. We found this nice couch that we loved. The Sales guy didn't tell us they didn't have them in stock, at that moment, but is ok maybe he didn't know? So when we were basically paying for this couch he says they don't have them in stock, only that couch which is on display. We were bummed. But we were already excited for getting that couch so we asked him if we could buy the display. He asked his manager and told us they could not sell us the display. The couches were coming a month later so we decided to purchase it and just wait a month. I mean, we have been looking around for a couch for weeks. We went to many stores. We were so happy to finally find one that we loved. So we thought waiting a month would be worth it. So, we started decorating the living room with colors that would match the couch we just purchased. We even bought a chair that matches it. The date of delivery arrives and we called Mathis to follow up and they tell us that the couches were not coming till another month later!! Wow I'm glad I wasn't the one on the phone with them. My gf starts getting transfered around until we get to talk to a manager who said that 5 couches were arriving later that week. He said there was a big waiting list, which our Sales Associate forgot to mention. He also said he wasn't sure why our Sales Associate told us the wrong date of when the couches would arrive (well I know why he didn't tell us!! he wants his commission!) So after a while of being on the phone with the manager, he promised us that we will be bumped up to be in that list of people getting the couch later on the week. We were still mad but ok, we accepted it. Nothing we could do. Delivery day comes again and we called. Nobody in the store knew about the "5 couches" arriving that day. The manager we talked to the other day was not available and the manager on duty said there was no 5 couches. He advised us that we could get a refund or pick a different couch. Right...after spending all the money in painting and other furniture to make it match that specific couch we purchased from them! There was nothing he could do. He told us at the end of the month the couches were arriving and they apologize because the shipment from "china" got delayed. So here we are. We moved in to our new apartment and its been 2 months with no couch. We purchased the couch on February 28, it is April 26th and we are supposed to get the couch this Wednesday. Ridiculous. We are actually afraid of calling tomorrow about the delivery. I seriously don't know what I will do if they tell us they are not here yet. Hahaha, probably just laugh. read more
