2 Stars for Mathis bros BUT 5 STARS FOR SALESWOMAN AMNA!!! I have been to Mathis Bros many times and agree with almost all the reviews here in regards to pushy, annoying, salespeople. AMNA said hello as my fiance and I came in and asked how she could help us. She did not Pounce..she was not Salivating..she was kind and courteous with a nice smile and an introduction. WOW...were we at Mathis Bros? Last time we went there a saleswoman was so agressive and annoying we left just to get rid of the parasite. We then went to Living Spaces and spent $13k on furnishings! This time we were treated like we want to be treated. We made a purchase and will do so again with Amna and no one else. My compliments to her on her geat service. If you are going to Mathis Bros look for her. She will give you excellent service. If she's not available, leave! Come back when she's on the schedule!! read more

We went in again like 2 months ago under similar circumstances (My wife is pregnant again, and stressed out). The first thing we did was ask for Chris, they said he was busy. I said cool and we went on about our business. As we are going around the store again for about 20 minutes (Its not that we couldn't get another salesperson, but I'm a firm believer in loyalty, and since Chris was good to us I'm not going to go with anyone else), out of thin air Chris appears (I'm pretty sure they had a fog machine and laser lights show that corresponded with his arrival) and says "I heard you were looking for me", the crazy part was he remembered my name. I swear to god Chris is like our Mathis Brother's guardian angel, and just made my wife and I's life easier. First off he grabs us coffee, he could tell we were tired, second he gets water for my daughter. He waited until we were ready to go and then begun showing us all sorts of great couches which were in our price range. Additionally, he remember I'm frugal and made his calls to the warehouse to see if there were any killer deals (there were, just not for what I was looking for). This guy is absolutely amazing. All of our furniture we bought still looks great and everything is functioning properly. I have no complaints about this store or who they hire. Chris you are the man and we are coming back soon to get that couch. read more

We got our living room furniture from Mathis Brothers. Tony Cortez was our sales associate. He was with us the whole time we were choosing our furniture. He is patient and accommodating. We were there for a long time trying to decide which one to get and he provided us with adequate information regarding the furniture we were looking for. We were very satisfied with the customer service he gave us. He did not pressure us to buy the furniture but allow us to shop and give us the time we need to pick and decide what to get. Great experience all around. Bought a sleeper sofa set, for a great deal. The sales associate Jeni was very knowledgable, not at all pushy. Got it delivered this last Sat. The delivery people called us 30 mins prior to their arrival. It was a nice gesture, so we had a real idea when they would arrive. All my furniture will come from this place, from here on out. We had a great shopping experience here and would like to come back and see what else we can find. First all... this place is massive! We didn't even get to the second floor. We were also approached by several friendly and easy going sales staff who were not pushy. We had 2 $100 promotion gift cards from the Santa Anita race track.. excellent promotion and are looking forward to more of them! I liked the furniture designs and layouts. We ended up buying a TV stand and end table. This was easily picked up in the pick up dock and loading staff was helpful. We did have to assemble it ourselves but was easy and made with quality parts. read more

***Five stars for the vast selection and 5++ stars for DERRICK JOHNSON, Seniors Sales Associate *** We stopped by Matthis Brothers on a fluke while on our way to a special event. We had been thinking about getting a new sofa for awhile but hadn't found one that we liked. We thought we'd walk around just to look and take a driving break because the store is too far for us to purchase anything (over 50 miles away). We explained our situation to Derrick and we were happily surprised that he still walked around with us to show us the immense selection of sofas they have. The store carried every style of sofas you can imagine (contemporary, camelback, sectional, antique, mid-century modern, etc) at different price points. With such a vast selection, it was not surprising that we finally found a sofa we liked. Seeing that we live so far away, the delivery fee was significantly higher than what we were willing to pay. On top of that, they only had 2 sofas in stock. We told Derrick we were going to think about it and may consider picking one up on our way home. Lo' and behold, they sold out by the time we drove back but Derrick told us when the next shipment was expected. When the shipment was delayed, Derrick gave us a courtesy call, at our request, so we don't make an unnecessary trip. When the shipment arrived, Derrick confirmed we were still interested and put a sofa on hold for the day to give us time to drive to the store to pick it up. We called him on our way because we were running late and was afraid of missing the the pick up closing time of 6pm on Sundays. Derrick made sure that all the paperwork was waiting for us when we arrived so we were able to go in and out of the cashier line in less than 5 minutes. The sofa was also already waiting for us to at the loading dock, where Derrick met us to make sure we were satisfied with our purchase. Thank you Derrick for the amazing, no-pressure customer service! We love our new sofa and have received many compliments. We're going to send anyone who is willing to make the drive your way. Overall they have a good selection of nice furniture. Their sales staff is somewhat knowledgeable. We spoke to several sales people and they were just so-so except for Noa. Noa was exceptional - very professional and extremely knowledgeable. Once we finally decided what we wanted we requested Noa and he guided us through the sales process til the end. Their delivery policy (5% of the value of your purchase) is ridiculous. Especially if you spend $10K or more and live just a few minutes/miles away. They should have a fixed charge or at least a cap on delivery charge like Jerome's or Living Spaces. They are making plenty on the furniture so they don't need to gouge the customer on the delivery side. Their return policy is also ridiculous - 7 days AND 10% restocking fee regardless if it's unopened, unused or you just changed your mind. They could at least offer a store credit for that 10% restocking fee in the event you ever return something. These policies put a bad taste in my mouth and I am not comfortable purchasing things from Mathis Brothers as a result. This is the main reason for my mediocre 3-Star rating. Other furniture stores have much friendly policies - especially Costco, Jerome's and Living Spaces. Upon pick up of our sofa sectional, which took over an hour and a half on a Thursday at 2 PM, one of the pieces was scratched up and torn somewhat at the bottom - basically cosmetic where you can't see it when in use. They offered me 10% off and I took it. Once we put the furniture in our house we realized the back foot of that same damaged piece was also broken and it wobbled back and forth. It was not reparable so Mathis Brothers had to deliver a replacement 2 days later at their expense. Issue resolved, but a bit of a hassle. In the future I will only purchase something there IF I find an item that I must have and it's not offered anywhere else in the area. read more

GET IT IN WRITING! First off, the way it's structured for salespeople being restricted to one area of the store seems odd. Since we were buying living room furniture, bedroom furniture and a mattress/box springs, we got to deal with 3 different salespeople! Lovely. The low review is to bring attention to the mattress staff. It took quite a bit of convincing that we didn't need an adjustable bed nor want an adjustable bed and if didn't have a 'regular' mattress and box springs then we'd buy somewhere else. Well, we actually like the mattress and it's like $1200 for that and box springs. The salesman informs us we have to buy the mattress cover from them in case we need to return the mattress for another one since it's over $1000. Okay. We bite. After sleeping on the bed for a couple of weeks, my wife thinks she'd like to swap it out for another mattress(which we were told was possible if we pay the 5% pickup/delivery charge AND use their mattress cover). No problem...WRONG! Called the mattress dept only to be told that our mattress cost was $960 which was $40 less than the $1000 minimum for a replacement. Explained that's not what we were told. Reply was basically tough. Asked the manager why we would have bought the mattress cover from them if we couldn't return it. He didn't have an answer. So, we called customer service and spoke to another manager. Nope - S.O.L. WTF? No mention whatsoever about talking to their employee, coming to the store and discussing, just too bad for the customer....NEXT IN LINE PLEASE! I guess when you have the marker cornered then you call the shots no matter how bad they might be. We ended up spending $9K on that trip and the ONLY saving grace is that we have the furniture we need and won't have to go back...hopefully ever....willing to drive to Dallas. read more

My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Mathis Brothers store last week and it was an amazing experience mostly because of our salesperson Beny.....she's an absolute sweetheart. We actually had already picked out an entire living room set and dining set at Living spaces but before purchasing wanted to check Mathis out and we are definitely glad we did. The selection they have is massive but separated well enough that you don't feel overwhelmed. If you go here please ask for Beny, she is so sweet and super knowledgeable. I showed her a photo of my dream living space and she helped us put together the entire look and now our home looks like it came out of a magazine spread thanks to Beny! She wasn't aggressive at all and gave us space to make the decision and informed us on all the options. Once we are ready to redo our upstairs I will definitely be back to Mathis Brothers and be requesting Beny!!! If you're like me, customer service goes a very long way and Ms Beny is the epitome of what great service looks like and Mathis will forever have our business as long as Beny is there! Great selection on just about anything...from furniture for short term use to higher end lavish choices. We looked at about 5 different popular furniture stores for a home office and nothing seemed to compare to what Mathis Brothers had to offer. They were reasonably priced for the quality. We're picking up our furniture on Wednesday and assuming everything goes smoothly this is our new spot for out home's needs. The only reason this is a 4 star and not 5 is because there are so many sales people asking you if you need any help, and it feels like they're following you around. It's very convenient if you need help but the fact that you get asked if you need anything around every aisle is a bit much. read more

And was advised it's a good idea to purchase the Furniture Protection Plan. I live in the Inland Empire area. Now Mathis Bros advised me that they don't cover my issue. She gives straight up advice and even told me if she thought a price wouldn't match or didn't go with the other furniture! Aside from fabulous interior design ideas she also provided outstanding customer service. Our sale person was really good to us and knowledgeable about the product; however, the cash register young lady who was assisting is misplaced our paper work in a a matter of seconds and when we question her about it, she seemed very annoyed and blew us off saying "oh it is somewhere over there" knowing the fact I was rushing for work. Then the other cash registered guy who attempted to help us completely messed up the order and had us waiting there. At the end we left. Mathis bros needs better trained and profession staff handling the cashier. I hope this is addressed immediately. 8/4/2015 2:15pm is when this happened. read more
