I apologize for this 5-star review being long overdue. TLDR: I give Kaiyo my absolute highest recommendation as a reliable and convenient source for amazing antique/vintage furniture at tremendous discount prices--their selection of items all the way from the most affordable low-end to the very highest of the designer high-end is unparalleled, and the online shopping and in-person pickup experiences are flawless. If you want to get something unusual for your home, particularly something mid-century, this is the place! Being able to browse thousands of items online at home saves you tons of time trying to comb through in-person estate sales or antique markets where you'll never know if there is something suitable or not! DETAILS: I love antique furniture--almost everything in my home is vintage or antique. I like feeling that each item has a story to tell, and that it took me time and effort to accumulate what I have, versus getting generic, essentially disposable/self-assembled furniture at a big-box retailer all at once--but that said, I don't have the budget for $$$$ items, either, so I have to rely on getting a deal, which also makes it fun. So, I browse estate sales and flea markets in person whenever I can. When I first moved to Long Beach during the pandemic, however, Kaiyo actually sent me a postcard with a welcome 10% coupon in the mail--I had never heard of it before, and when I went online to browse their items, I couldn't believe how wide their selection was. They had *really* used sofas of the 80s Lazyboy type all the way to Herman Miller-type items in perfect condition, so there is something for everyone! The warehouse is located in Chino, so delivery charges were also very reasonable considering the size and weight of some of the items. I regularly browsed the website for fun. Finally, we were redoing our living room, and I needed a lounge chair that matched the height of my current Plycraft (vintage Eames copy) chair, plus a coffee table to go between them. This was literally a tall order as these chairs are nearly 40" in height at the back. Thankfully, Kaiyo has an amazing search engine where you can sort by any dimension and price! Thus, I found and purchased what I hoped would be THE perfect vintage chair and coffee table from Kaiyo on May 19, 2023 and since I am local, I went ahead and scheduled the furniture for pickup at the warehouse in Chino (when it was convenient for us, a couple weeks later on June 2--but they could have accommodated a sooner date) in order to save money on the delivery. I could not have possibly been more pleased with the purchase or pickup processes. I promptly received my purchase order receipt, then my warehouse pickup appointment receipt, and as the date approached, I received two additional helpful reminder emails so that I would not miss my appointment. When I arrived at the Chino warehouse, it was spotlessly clean in the parking lot and the warehouse itself. I was immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman, who directed me to back up my vehicle to the loading dock ramp. I asked if I could view the furniture first before it was loaded, and they gladly allowed me to do so. While I was waiting the few minutes to have my order looked up, I asked if we could stand inside the doorway as I had my dogs with me and it was so blazingly hot in June 2023, and he absolutely let us stand inside the shade. They quickly pulled up my order, and the two pieces of furniture were already ready in the front of the warehouse, so the appointment system works flawlessly. I had purchased a midcentury chair and table, and he even let us sit in the chair to make sure it was comfortable and appropriate for our needs. The quality and condition of the chair and table were even beyond my expectations--they looked stunning. The online dimensions matched the in-person dimensions perfectly, so the descriptions are accurate. I had gotten these rare and unusual items at a huge discount and I was ecstatic! A second gentleman came out of the back to help us load the two items into our two vehicles, and we even complimented them on the wonderful service and selection they provide. From the ensuing discussion, it seemed that the gentlemen truly believed in the mission of Kaiyo, which is to help rehome used furniture to help reduce landfill waste, which I am totally on board with. In fact, they even gifted us with two tiny little succulents (one for each purchase, see photo), which I think is just adorable. I've attached photos of the two items we bought (the coffee table and the black chair in the photo, not the tan Plycraft chair on the left, which we already had) so you can see the quality. Just FYI, I paid less than $800 for the two items together (not including tax and using a 10% coupon), and not only that, I am delighted that I am giving these one-of-a-kind items a new forever home where they will always be treasured. I needed a new dining table, chairs, and a recliner, so I looked at all the usual furniture stores online and in person. Nothing I saw worked for me either because of style or price or both. I stumbled onto the kaiyo website from a targeted ad on my social media and after scrolling a bit, I started comparing their prices for pre-owned pieces to new ones from the same companies. The three items I purchased came in at about 50-90% off new retail prices! And they plant a tree for every purchase Delivery was set for 3 weeks from my purchase date and I chose white glove service to have them deliver to my desired room, assemble and remove all packaging. I was notified by email the week of delivery with contact information in case I needed to reschedule or add a designated person for the delivery inspection and signature. I also got a text the morning of delivery and the delivery men called me from the front door. All the pieces were wrapped very well and only one piece had some damage not shown in the photos. The gentlemen making the delivery were fabulous and the pieces meticulously cleaned. Highly recommend kaiyo and I'm eagerly awaiting buying my next piece of furniture from them! read more

I purchased a beautiful, Italian lacquered coffee table: a prized possession which served admirably through moves to three homes. Sadly, it didn't fit in my new home after redecorating. I contacted Kaiyo who seemed interested in offering it for sale. The thought of it landing in someone's home vs. landfill gave me genuine joy. The evaluation process was both crisp and painless; Kaiyo's follow-up was smoothly professional and swift. The pickup was scheduled and, with their prompt arrival, Lawrence and Joaquin carefully wrapped the table and moved it to their truck. Notably, there was an issue when it came to disassembling the table for transport. They improvised a solution and got it safely packaged. I have yet to see if Kaiyo actually sells the piece...but just knowing that somebody is going to try to repurpose it is cause for celebration. I would give 5 stars but it's too early since it hasn't sold yet. But so far so good: I'm reviewing for selling/consigning furniture: So far my experience with Kaiyo has been great. Submission process was super easy -- filled it all out on my phone and took photos. Kaiyo team was very quick to respond to my submission and it was accepted within 24 hours. I selected a pick up day and Kaiyo confirmed their 4-hour pick up window 2 days in advance -- all of their communication was very clear. My pick up window was from 8am-12pm. They texted when they were 15 minutes away. They arrived at 9:30am. Eliseo and Stanton were super friendly and professional. They did a great job inspecting the furniture, moving, wrapping, and protecting the furniture. They were working with a heavy two-piece leather sofa and they were very careful and diligent but also super efficient. They were in and out within 30 minutes. (One tip: Make sure to clear an area for the movers to take your furniture. We did that in advance and believe it helped make this process go well.) Thank you very much to Eliseo and Stanton for making this go so smooth! This is the first time I've used Kaiyo for selling furniture. So far so good, although within an hour of pick up Kaiyo confirmed my furniture did not qualify for an instant offer. I was a little surprised as this is a really nice leather sofa, hand built in North Carolina in excellent condition -- similar to Restoration Hardware's Maxwell sofa. But hopefully, it will sell okay. I've seen plenty of reviews on buying furniture and getting furniture picked up -- but I haven't seen many reviews for the final sale part. SELLERS BEWARE! This is a total scam. I found out that I will be getting only 15% of the $ amount that my furniture was sold for on their website! Their explanation is service - aka pick up, "processing", taking pics, and posting online. If I knew I was going to get $25 back for pieces that were well over a 1K , I could have sold it on my own through Craigslist and at least got few hundred bucks! Mind you, you have no say in what the price or percentage will be! The don't communicate either, waited for 3 months to find out what's happening! We've recently purchased a house, so when our old couch broke in the move--a brand new one wasn't in the budget. We'd had a great Room and Board couch in the past, so I went looking for a used one.  I hadn't heard of Kaiyo before, but the only even mildly negative reviews I found in research said buying standards are a bit high; certainly not a deterrent to me as a buyer. The reasonable time frame and cost for cross country delivery also put me at ease. Lastly, the note that I could call off the deal if I was unhappy with the couch once I saw it in person made the buy feel safe. Communication from the time I hit "purchase" was great. And when the couch showed up today, it was in great condition. Not quite new looking, but very close--and at a great price. The experience of coordinating which items to sell with Kaiyo was pretty straightforward. Customer service was great when I needed them on the phone to work through some scheduling issues on my end. They were super helpful. Selling my furniture was especially easy compared to the burden of moving it all out. Raymond & Kareem are total pros. They did an amazing job keeping everything safe and doing their job professionally. This was a huge job with heavy furniture that had to go down 7 flights of stairs and they did it without complaining and even smiling through the whole process. I had this giant extremely heavy Crate & Barrel bed that I had major anxiety about getting rid of. It cost me some money so I didn't want to just toss it but it was so unwieldy that no one would take it as a donation. Enter kaiyo.com - you take pictures, upload them, and if approved, they send their field operators to disassemble and remove your item. They then keep the item to sell on consignment on your behalf, of which they keep their cut, of course. Easy peasy, and no random Craigslist weirdos showing up at your house or flaking out last minute, AND you make some $$! Raymond and Frank were super prompt, professional, fast, and had the best attitude! They navigated the challenging parking situation here no problem, figured out how to disassemble this behemoth of a bed, and just had the absolute best attitude! We had a lot of mid-century furniture in good condition that had to be removed from my grandparents' estate after their passing. After some searching for a way to sell it on consignment, I found Kaiyo. We really liked their business model and website, but were nervous about working with a company so new to California. After speaking with their excellent customer service representatives via phone, we decided to go for it and scheduled a pick-up. There was a delay on our pick-up date, but otherwise things went very smoothly and every Kaiyo employee I've dealt with has been super helpful and friendly. The pickup went exceptionally well. Raymond, Eliseo and Frank were super friendly, polite, respectful of the building, and extremely careful with the furniture and our property. They were excellent representatives for the company and gave us confidence in the whole process. We were very appreciative of their positive attitudes, professionalism, and attention to detail. Our furniture hasn't been listed on the site yet, so I can't speak to the listing, selling and cashing out part of the process yet... but so far everything has been great, so hopefully the rest of the process will be too! (Re-posting my review from their other business listing in NYC, since it's the same company.) If you're buying used furniture, I strongly recommend **avoiding** Kaiyo. I recently purchased a high-end office chair from them and discovered in the first days of owning it that it had multiple broken parts - the back was only half-attached to the seat, the lumbar support was broken in two places, and there was sticky brown residue on the left side of the chair. I contacted support, but they refused to give my anything more than a 25% discount. Ultimately, I ended up paying over $600 for a very broken chair. It's clear that Kaiyo completely failed to inspect the chair in spite of listing it on their website as "gently used." Avoid this business and its negligent and/or fraudulent practices. read more

We've been using Kaiyo for both buying and selling over the past year as we've been settling into our new home. On the buying side, they have a great selection of items at fair prices and in the two cases where we didn't like the quality of the delivered item, it was no issue to reject the delivery. On the selling side, the submission and pickup process is easy and a lot more convenient than selling ourselves via FB Marketplace or Craigslist. Finally, the delivery/pickup teams are always friendly and courteous (shout out to Eliseo and Rajas, the team on our most recent pickup).
