I placed my order with Mathis Salon and Spa on 07/23/25. On 08/01/25, I contacted them to report that my package was lost in the mail and even provided a screenshot from FedEx confirming this. Despite that, I still had to wait for them to contact FedEx, and the claim wasn't filed until 08/04/25. I was told my replacement would ship earlier this week, and while it did ship on 08/11/25, I was never sent tracking information and there was no follow-up from the company. I had to reach out multiple times just to get updates, which made an already long wait even more frustrating. While they did ultimately send a replacement as a "courtesy," the entire process took over two weeks from the time I reported the issue, and the lack of proactive communication left me feeling like my concerns weren't a priority. I hope Mathis Salon and Spa improves their customer service follow-up and communication, because customers shouldn't have to chase down updates for orders they've already paid for. read more

I couldn't be more happy with my experience here! I got a full syringe of lip filler & Dysport in my forehead. I was really nervous but everyone was so sweet and really put me at ease. Amanda did my consultation and she was so nice and answered all my questions. My injector's name was Erin and she took the time to talk to me before the service and gave me exactly what I wanted! WARNING MONEY HUNGRY SALON! The reason I started coming to the salon, was because my lash tech transferred here and I'm a very loyal client to her and she does great work. My first visit in I got sucked into a year contract. I was very apprehensive about that because not to may companies put people in contacts still. They do monthly. Its $170 a month and that includes Two visits per month. Ive even coming for about 7 months now and come twice a month. So I would say I'm a familiar face in their Salon. Ive never missed or late to an appointment since ive been coming. They like to book the appointments two weeks ahead of time. Wednesday 7/13 I had an appointment at 9am. The night before I got into a bad hit and run accident. It totally slipped my mind I had a lash app. The lady at the front desk called and told me I missed my app. I went on and told her I'm so sorry and about the wreck, she just rescheduled me and told me its okay. Remind you I haven't used any of my credits for this month of July and they already auto drafted the first of the month my monthly $170. So pretty much they didn't lose any money from it or the tech because it was ALREADY paid for. I look at my account later to see a charge of $165 payment, I called and was shocked by the price. They went on to tell me that's there company cancel polices. BS, you mean to tell me you charge someone two full appointments for just one mistaken no show? Totally shady and just gross business running. The lady was so rude and just gave ZERO about fixing or making it right. Btw on the hair side all you hear are them talking trash on people walking in and out of their salon. BTW the salon is so outdated. Looks like early 2000 sweet and sassy threw up. Nobody is rocking the Zebra and hot pink decor anymore. WAY OVERPRICED and quality of lashes are cheap and irritated my eyes always. Ive done lash exertions for over 10 years. This salon is a real gem. I have been going here for hair color and keritin smoothing treatments for about 8 years, and recently also for botox/injectables. Their hair service prices are on the expensive side, but they use the best quality hair care products, which I appreciate. The salon is stylish, spacious, clean, peaceful, and friendly. Since I have ADHD I cannot tolerate hectic or over crowded salons, and the vibe here puts me at ease right away. Amanda, the owner, has fun with it, and they do seasonal decorations and themes in their shop, which shows they really take pride in it. This is a place where they treat you like family. You are greeted warmly by the receptionist as you come in, and normally your stylist will greet you quickly as well, even if she is not ready for you yet. There are strict policies on missed appointments here, and as long as you know that going in, you won't get nasty surprises. They stand by their work, and if I ever have a question or issue with my service, Amanda is the most knowledgeable and gracious owner you could hope to deal with. As long as you treat the salon and staff with respect, it will be returned to you 10 fold. If you are short, rude, or caustic, then I would expect you won't get very far here. I already made a review on Google Maps but decided to make one here too so people know what they're getting themselves into. I went in asking for face framing and partial highlights. I wanted very visible blonde, I simply wanted them to be caramel. My stylist convinced me into bayalage instead (which is more expensive) but I decided to trust her. The results are very underwhelming. I don't look even partially like a blonde and this does not match my reference photo or the verbal description given. I have one visible strand in front and the rest blend in the back making me still look brunette. I took this photo 2 days after my appointment. I also called to cancel my follow up appointment and told the person I spoke to how disappointed I was and she told me a manager would reach out, I waited a couple weeks hoping to give the benefit of the doubt but I was never reached out to. I answered every unknown number, checked my voicemail, etc. and it's strange they don't have a problem sending texts about sales and promotions but can't find the manager to give me a call? I don't even care anymore but as a college student spending $360 (not including the tip I gave) I want to warn other people, do NOT take their advice. They will push you to take more expensive services that you don't need. Aside from convincing me into bayalage she spend the whole time talking about products they have, pressuring me into buying, and trying to convince me to also cut my hair which I definitely did not want to do. I don't mind paying more if it's quality stuff. These people just seem money hungry. The hair service and customer service does not even remotely match what they are charging people. I expected way better for the money I agreed to pay. I will not return, there are much better places for less that I can get better services. read more

I made my Appt on Friday for Monday, and on Saturday spoke with my stylist on the phone and even sent pictures before and was so excited for my Appt. As soon as I stepped in the salon it felt very unwelcoming and my stylists just asked if I was her client and that was it. We stood there in silence for 5 min before she said we could go to her chair. From there it just got worse and worse. She never made me feel comfortable or welcome. There was nobody at the salon besides the stylist and another girl. I went over again what I wanted and then she kept proceeding to tell me that any "unnatural" colors would fade, I knew what I wanted and told her over the phone I was committed to the process and I understand if she could not achieve what I wanted at the first Appt but again was committed to the process. I hadn't had my hair colored or touched since April so I was ready to get back into maintaining my hair. She was very condescending and just wasn't understanding and kept saying "unnatural colors will fade" so after her $344.00 quote I was in shock. Then she said she needed to redo the math and came back with $423 for balayage, any toner and highlights, haircut and shadow root. So I said that was way out of my budget and what would a haircut and just freshen up my blonde be and she still said the $344.00. I left. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. She said they had to raise prices from inflation but wow. Just a heads up it's $75 for a woman's haircut. Very disappointed as I was hoping to treat myself for my birthday. read more

Had my hair colored balayage here a few months ago. Where brown meets blonde in the front, my hair broke off, very hard to hide. I now have thin "bangs" that I still fight with every day. This salon is absolutely worth the trip and the pricing. That old phrase "you get what you pay for" absolutely applies to this salon and the staff. The pricing is more than a box from Walmart but the quality of products used and the quality of the highly trained staff really shows in your hair cut and the overall health of hair. I have been in customer service for many many years and have recently seen some experiences that I want to make sure to clarify for anyone on here looking at reviews. One of these reviews is from a woman who is complaining for her grown adult child who was whining about having to pay to correct a bad "home color job". Majority of us have learned in life that it is better to do things right the first time. And that having to correct something takes twice as long and costs twice as much. When it comes to correction of color and your hair there are people out there that will take you from one extreme to another in one step. But you walk away with highly damaged and straw like hair. It is best to admit your mistake and go to a master/expert to correct it at that point. This same mother also came into a place of business and was unrealistic in her expectations that just because her grown daughter did not understand or did not ask questions that she should be refunded for lack of understanding. When she did not get her way she then made it a personal mission stating that she, being a school teacher, would have all of her friends and her husband being a police office write bad reviews and tell everyone. I am not sure what the police officer can do...my husband is in law enforcement as well and that has nothing to do with the price of beans. The prices have always been clearly stated on their website. From my first visit I sat in the parking lot to see if I could afford to go here before ever walking into the salon. I know that there are choices out there and ranges in services and experience of stylist. You pay for experience and quality. Salon Mathis is always looking for quality products with less harsh chemicals to provide their clients with the best and healthiest hair possible. As any business from fast food all the way up to luxury businesses there is never anything that is given away for free. If you needed an extra cheeseburger you would anticipate to pay for that. If you needed a larger size or more material you would anticipate to pay for that as well. To expect that you would receive something for free or at a discounted rate because you can find another product out there for less is absurd to me. The cost of business supplies needs to be taken into account and unfortunately has to be passed onto the consumer. I have had nothing but great experiences with this salon, even when I had an issue I was able to bring it to the owners attention and in a realistic time frame the color correction was taken care of. The consideration of the overall health of my hair was a first concern and then the accommodation of my schedule was also of top priority. I have referred MANY people here and everyone of them to my knowledge are still customers today. read more

So I must write a review to share my awesome experience! A few months ago I had my gorgeous locks hacked off by a student at Aveda. Not only did she take a ponytail to my hair and just cut it off but she also turned by hair into a similar version of Cruela Devil. To say the least the last too months have been constant self-conscious feelings because lets face it WE CARE ABOUT OUR HAIR. I was hesitant to get it fixed but finally after a lot of research I settled on Amanda. Boy did she go beyond what I ever expected! She fixed my hack job of a hair-do in 45 minutes, just a cut, as opposed to the 8 hours it took for Aveda. She literally gave me a 180 in confidence by fixing my hair so well! At first I thought this place was the real deal. It looks nice and it's pretty clean. I got my hair highlighted and I got some layers done. I liked the way it looked at first glance when Shelby finished it. The color was decent even though it wasn't exactly what I had showed her. After going home I realized there are multiple spots on my head/hair where she cut wayyyy too short almost as if she accidentally knicked them while she was cutting it. These pieces are much shorter than the regular pieces of my hair so it wasn't a part of the layering. The pieces of hair were about 8-9 Inches long from my roots before I went in for a cut and when I left these pieces are now about 3 inches long!!! They totally stand out and look odd, especially when I'm wearing my hair up. In multiple different spots. I don't see how these mistakes werent noticed by her immediately, it definitely stands out. I wasn't able to see at first because my hair was straightened. I never said anything because I've heard that the owner can be a bit... drama invested. It's been about 7 months since I had my hair done there and those spots are growing out in such odd ways and make them look even more obvious. ): I just wanted to give everyone a warning, DOUBLE CHECK your hair in pieces while you're still at the salon so you can point out these mistakes and not still spending over $200 like I did. read more

I am so impressed! I called this salon yesterday at 3:30 because I got a wild hair that I HAD to get my hair colored TODAY and this salon is 5 minutes from my house. Talked to the owner and didn't expect to be able to get in same day but she got me in just 30 minutes later and was so sweet and answered all my questions. I got in and was greeted by Karla who started my consultation, I showed her a few pics and explained how my hair tends to pull red. She immediately recommended babylights and a shadowroot and listened carefully when I told her I wanted "icey" "cool" tones. She quoted me ~$250 for the whole thing and sure enough it wound up being around $240 plus tip so she was spot on and I felt their pricing was very up front and while it's nothing to sneeze at I think it is pretty standard pricing. I was also happy to find out they include the wash and full blowdry with their color services as some salons I've been to charge extra for that and I've gone home with wet/damp hair to save money lol. Karla did AMAZING on my hair with Litzy helping her and they were both so easy and fun to chat with. I was there for about 4 hours and was SO impressed both girls stayed until 8 p.m. and never made me feel like they were rushing to get done and get me out of there even though it was well past closing time and I was the only one there. All in all, great salon and experience. I'm so happy with my hair color and the tips the girls gave me for maintaining the color and health of my hair. Karla and Litzy may be young, but they've worked crazy hard to be where they are, you can tell! I absolutely loved my experience with this salon and Carley. The salon is very cute and homey and played great music. I loved the fact that "I can only imagine" came on while i was there! Carley did very good with my perm and made sure to walk me through every single step she was making. What I loved the most was if she didn't know the exact answer to a question she was very honest about it and let me know she'd have to ask the owner, as someone who works in customer service this goes a long way for me. It let me know that she truly just cared about me and my hair and not just answering to make me happy. Everyone was very friendly and the owner, Amanda, was great! Will not be back. Stylist was sweet but inexperienced, no consult prior to shampoo then she dried my hair before cutting which left me uncomfortable. (When I left I had to change plans and head home to shower because I was so itchy.) When she took the drape off I was surprised she was through. My voice must've sounded unhappy because the senior stylist quickly stepped out and says "what's the problem?". I said "nothing" because I didn't want a confrontation. Similar experience years ago and when I voiced my issue, I was put back in the chair and felt like the attitude was 'you want a cut, then I will give you a cut', and trimmed waaaay more than I wanted and it looked horrible. I scheduled an appointment for highlights and a haircut and the hairdresser was overcharging me- $165 + $15 for toner on blonde highlights only. A full set of highlights is listed as $120 on your website. She then said it would be an extra $95 to get my haircut done as well. When I asked why I was being charged to shampoo my hair twice- because the dry haircut is $50 less- she said those are just her prices. I said okay, that I will just do highlights and come back for a dry cut on another day. She then refused to serve me as a client. I have extremely thin hair- it takes less time and product to color and cut. I am very disappointed with the customer service and dishonest prices at salon mathis. Update: In the owner's post responding to this review and describing me as being "rude and hateful" is completely untrue. It proves how unprofessional the salon actually is. They called me the day of my appointment and asked if I could come to an earlier appointment, which I agree to for her convenience. Then, after simply inquiring about the price - which is the consumers right - I adjusted my service to only getting highlights and she then refused to service me. I simply said "wow" and walked out. I did not storm out, I did not slam the door, I did not say any other words at all. Answer this Salon Mathis- Is it true that when you receive highlights you always have to do a shampoo after? Then why would you charge another $50 to shampoo for a haircut on the same appointment? Why are you offended by customers asking questions? I was new to the area and needed a stylist here so I could stop driving 3 hours when I needed my hair cut (when I find a good stylist I stick with them for years). I called Amanda, told her about my hair & being new & scheduled an appointment. I needed one quickly because I had a wedding the coming weekend. Before we hung up she ask if I had directions and I told her I would map it from Google. Mapping it gave me the estimated travel time and I left early for my appointment. What she didn't tell me was that the address on Google wasn't correct and it only mapped to I45, giving me an inaccurate travel time. I got stopped by a train and because I had the wrong travel time I arrived 4 minutes late (I had text her along the way so she was aware - no response). I walked into her "salon" & she was mixing color for another client & told me she doesn't take late appointments so she wasn't cutting my hair. She gave me a new appointment time for the next day. The next day I made sure to arrive early! I got there 15 minutes before my appointment and her salon was closed. I assumed she would be there soon (I was on my lunch break and figured maybe she was too). I waited 20 minutes and she never arrived so I text her. I ask the lady in the salon next to hers and she told me Amanda had just left shortly before I arrived. Amanda finally responded to my text saying she didn't think I was coming (??). She then proceeded to tell me (in a very rude manner) she wouldn't be cutting my hair. I was in TEARS! I had very little time to find someone to cut my hair before the weekend and had already wasted my lunch break and 2 trips to this salon which take an hour each (30min each way). Luckily, a nice lady named Jessica who works at another salon in the building saw me in tears and offered to help. If you are looking for a new stylist, go somewhere else. Being 4 minutes late the first day can be called my fault, but the second day was her mistake and she was so extremely rude. I've never been treated so badly by someone running a business. Ever. The sad part for her is that I wear very trendy hairstyles and I get asked every time I am in public "who does your hair?". Now I get to tell people who NOT to use. read more

At first I thought they were great they can fit me in no problem. But when I tried to get there I got there 2 and 1/2 minutes late they told me they couldn't see me and now I have to find somewhere else. The Professional 8 1/2 done would have been called me and let me know so I didn't waste my drive time because I'm running shop it's hard to get away. Visit them at your own risk cuz I've never been so. On the plus side I found a better salon and I'm going to stick with them because they were wonderful they were full and they fit me in immediately and you know I was 3 minutes late cuz it couldn't find it they help me get here with no problem. Hector and Priscilla we're absolutely wonderful and made me feel like I was home there great and I would recommend them to everybody. Amanda is great, I have been trying to find a great beauty hair expert for an affordable price and I FOUND HER! I went to JE TEM near El bosque in May and they did not cut my hair like i wanted and she missed out on most of my bangs.. How is that possible when they state they have decades of experience? I enjoyed the girls company. They were very nice. I can't remember her name, but she spent lots of time in my hair after it dried. I've read that is how curly hair is supposed to be cut. But when I put up my hair in a ponytail, it looks like my curls are longer on one side than in the other. So I'm not sure how I feel about returning. read more

I have to come back and commend Salon Mathis for their high ethical standards. I filled out a Yelp review months ago as a promotion for a free haircut, I went back to the salon today because I needed a trim, not only was my cut perfect, but the salon noted in my file that I filled out a review and they owed me a free cut. I had completely forgotten that I did it, so it was such a wonderful surprise. I think this speaks volumes about the integrity of this salon. They went out of their way to provide exemplary customer service, when if they hadn't brought it up, they could have made more money off me, since I had forgotten all about it.
