Well I am about to give birth and I wanted my hair short and since she did such a good job on my hair the first time I thought I would buy a groupon to see her again. First time making a appointment every day I gave her was fully booked, so I had a appointment for today but I had to cancel because my 1 year old and 6 year old has a 101 fever and I haven't slept. My baby shower is Saturday and I asked if I could come in Wednesday since that's the day my husband is off of work. Well she didnt even know if she had openings and she usually texts her appointments she told me to call in the office to see if she had openings, but wouldn't you know that if you're the one booking it through your phone. But I just had to leave a review because of the amazing service we received at de Grance by Sachi Tanaka. I never expected to leave a review for a hair salon. I'm a guy, and I normally don't really care how my hair turns out, to be honest. But I wanted to treat my wife to a relaxing spa day. So I booked her a massage and a haircut. Booking a haircut with Sachi was very easy and the prices were fair and reasonable. I didn't get my haircut, but I was overjoyed at how happy it made my wife. She repeatedly said that it was the best haircut she has ever received. She was all smiles and giggles the entire time. Sachi was very knowledgeable and personable. They talked as best friends the entire time. And Sachi would frequently pause to explain what she was doing, which products she was using, and why. And the finish product, WOW!!! My wife always looks amazing, but she looked even more radiant than normal. And she was soooo happy. I was blown away at what a huge difference a good haircut could make. It looked as though her hair had been dyed, even though she only got it cut. I would normally never consider going to a salon, but after seeing what a difference it made, and how happy my wife was, I will be going to Sachi for my next haircut. Cherie worked wonders on my hair today. My hair was long passed by waist, and damaged due to me wanting to go grey and the previous hairdresser left me a strange yellow blonde. Initially I wanted balayage but I just explained I wanted my hair as healthy as possible and did want a major hair cut. My haircut and color came out amazing, even though we decided not to do balayage to get my hair to get healthy again and went with a dark chocolate brown. In case you don't want to whole experience here it is in a nutshell: Staff sucked. Stylist, Kat sucked and was completely unprofessional. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!! I only gave one star because I couldn't give -1 I just moved here and bought a Groupon to check out this salon. (Thank God!) My stylist, Kat, was 25 mins late. The staff didn't bother to check on me, didn't ask if I needed anything while I waited..and waited...and waited. I finally went downstairs to ask what the deal was. The receptionist said she would call her again and about that time another gal came over and asked if I was there to see Kat. I said yes, and the gal said 'Kat asked if I could go ahead and get you started with a wash.' The chair I sat in for the shampoo didn't have anyhting for your feet so your forced to sit in a really uncomfortable position but other than that the shampoo went ok. When she was done she sat me up, squeezed my hair (and I have A LOT of hair) towel dried it some and then took the towel so my hair just laid on my back! Needless to say my shirt was soaked! By this time Kat had arrived at work. I sat in the chair and Kat dove right into "What are we doing today?" There was no apology, no explanation, nothing. Then I said well I'm new to the area, I just moved form Corpus and I have always had my friend of many years (she owns a salon) cut my hair so I usually let her do whatever. I thought I might get an apology if Kat knew I was searching for a regular stylist. NOTHING. Hmmmm, OK. I, then said, well I am trying to grow it out some. My grandma just passed away and her funeral is Tuesday so I just want it cleaned up and looking nice. Ok folks maybe I have too many expectations but I was kind of expecting the standard "oh I'm sorry to hear that" or something along those lines. NOPE straight back to the hair. Kat said ok not shabby hair got it. As she was cutting my hair another girl handed her a phone message. Kat read it and then told me about it. She said "This stupid lady got her hair colored a month ago and now wants it redone becuase she doesn't like it. I mean hello it's just time to get it redone. I don't know what she's complaining about she used a Groupon, how cheap can you be" Ok, all this talk made me so uncomfotable, it was so unprofessional AND I HAD A GROUPON! I didn't say anything about any of it. In case you have lost track we are up to strike 7. As Kat was cutting my hair she dropped the comb 3 times and all 3 times she picked it up off the floor and continued to use it. GROSS! She also put her comb and the clips she was using on my hair in her mouth! The only person I wouldn't mind having them put the comb and clips they were using on my hair in their mouth is my mother and even then it's just not cool or sanitary. Kat should have a work shirt that says UNPROFESSIONAL. When the cut was done and my hair was styled she walked me downstairs. This is when I let the receptionist know I had a Groupon. The temperature at the front desk dropped about 10 degrees. It felt like Groupon was a dirty word. Whatever. I paid. I left and I will never go back! read more

She had saved me from a hair catastrophe a year prior and I was new to the area and she was the first hair lady I liked. When it came time to get my hair re-done I wanted something new and I texted her like always and I found this salon because she told me she moved salons again. STAY AWAY!! This place was awful! So unprofessional and the stylist, Dores, do NOT listen to the client. She is constantly on her cell phone texting and taking calls from her family (non emergencies- just socializing). She does whatever she wants to your hair. Dores says she has 17+ years experience but you would never know it by how unprofessional she was and how her hair cuts are SO uneven. She takes over 3 hrs to do a partial highlight and trim on shoulder length hair. While I was their the other stylists were on the cell phones when their clients were waiting in the lobby. The lobby was completely full waiting on stylists. Some stylists were yelling across the room to each other. If you want a good hair cut or color PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Whatever you do, DO NOT go to Doris. I can't speak for all of the stylists there since I've only been once, but Doris messed up my hair so. So. Bad. She cut it way shorter than I wanted and put a ton of layers in it, even though I said face framing long layers. My hair is a long bob now, when I definitely don't have the face structure for a bob, and I DIDNT WANT ONE. It's not even long enough to put in a ponytail until it grows out a little. It's not cheap either! I paid $80 without tip for a cut, style, and a moisturizing treatment. I could've paid my 6-year-old niece $5 to do the same job that she did. I purchased a Groupon 3 weeks ago & it had to be done with Jessica P. It took her 3 days to call me back to schedule my appointment. The day before my appointment she called and cancelled on me and then rescheduled it on a Sunday at 8am. She never even showed up at the Salon. She never called me back, never responded to my messages or anything. I was so disappointed that I wasted my time even waiting for her. I have only had my haircut by 2 or 3 people in my entire life because I am EXTREMELY particular about it. I have never colored it, only have done cuts and I have very long dark brown hair and if anyone knows my hair and how I like it cut better than myself, is Bridget! She does an extraordinary job and makes sure that every little detail is taken care of. I usually send her pictures of something I'm wanting my hair to look like a few days before and she without a doubt delivers 100%. Not to mention how AMAZING her shampoo/conditioning sessions are (I almost fall asleep every single time). Not only is she extremely talented but she is also extremely knowledgable about any products she uses and walks you through what each of them does and even gives you tips on how to recreate what she does to your hair in the chair, at home.
