They have individualized our kids' curriculum/instruction in multiple subjects and have provided individual tutoring for them both. ALC is well organized, welcoming, and the sessions have helped my kids in reading and math. It is the best tutoring experience we have had in Austin. For my daughter, we set up weekly sessions in math since that is the subject she strugles the most with. For my son, we have done drop-in sessions for math and Spanish on an as-needed basis. We have used them about 10 times and will continue to as it has helped both my kids tremendously.

Heck...even i was confused and challenged by the TAKS weird questions and other assignments. So i reluctantly surrendered and found Lacie Taylor of Taylor-Made Tutoring. And what a great find. Five minutes after meeting Lacie you will feel comfortable with her and her methods. Her warm, calm and encouraging approach to teaching various learning methodologies is something i could never do. And so my daughter took to her lessons immediately, i am happy to say. She has responded very well and the improvements she has made are a great reflection upon Lacie's skills as a teacher. Another benefit to Taylor-Made Tutoring's math program is that they offer an in-home tutoring option where instead of having to drive in and out of Lacie's place of business, she has other tutors on her staff who will come to your home for the lessons. This is a valuable alternative at times. Taylor-Made Tutoring offers tutoring from elementary levels to very high math courses and we will likely be using her summer math camp to really get ahead this year.

He has 6 other children in his class with two teachers. His lead teacher has a masters degree in education and many teachers have advanced degrees. Kiddos experience enrichment activities during the day like music, cooking, spanish, and sensory. The hours allow me to be a working parent and have full-time care. His classroom is outfitted with things that are important to us- natural materials instead of plastic, lots of books, and open-ended play spaces. Yes, there is a year-long commitment required to attend but honestly, that was a selling point for us. It means his classroom community will stay the same the entire year and we will not experience the constant reshuffling that happens at "typical preschools". I work in finance and appreciate that, unlike franchise preschools that struggle with revenue fluctuation (i.e. 30-day cancellation policies), this preschool is operating with predictable and sound financial backing. Best decision we could have ever made for our child. He is loved. He is happy. I couldn't recommend this preschool enough.

Even though they seemed very much in a transition phase due to the change in ownership to Trinity, we wanted to try this preschool. About halfway though the online enrollment paperwork, they sprung a year-long commitment on us (and an optional insurance policy that costs hundreds of dollars to get 60% of your money back). Most of the staff members seemed nice, except one who assumed I was a first time parent who didn't know how this is supposed to work. (Note: We are not first-time parents. With our older child, we had to move a couple times and attend multiple preschools in multiple states, and none of them required more than a 30-day cancellation notice.) I understand you are trying to conform to Trinity, but this is not yet a Trinity experience, and a year-long commitment for a 2-year-old who hasn't even met the teacher yet is not normal or reasonable. Another note if you are considering this school: Currently a child has to reapply to Trinity for Kindergarten. No guarantees that you'd get in. If they would bring their cancellation policy in line with every other preschool we have toured, we would consider them, but for now, we are exploring other options.

I am a father of two children who both have attended St. John Neumann (SJN) pre-school. I've had…read morean overwhelmingly positive experience with Kelly Montgomery and all of the teachers at SJN. If you are fortunate enough to find a spot for your children, I wouldn't hesitate even for even a minute. We've tried several different pre-schools in multiple cities and SJN is our hands-down favorite (and our top pick for any children joining our family in the future). I receive multiple updates per week via email from my child's Pre-K teacher, Ms. Chrysta. She includes specific aims and goals in her emails and lesson plans, and she produces great results, too! Of note, my child's social and writing skills have improved, and she takes direction far better than before attending SJN. Most importantly, my child feels loved by her teachers, and she loves them back. At this critical Pre-K age, both a trust and a bond with teachers and the administrator set the tone for everything else. Most days, my child feels moved to enter the office of "Chi Chi" (Kelly) and give her a goodbye hug. I also see this trust and love between my child and teachers not directly involved with my child's education. The small size of the school allows for this. All of the teachers and staff say "hi" and "bye" to my child by name, and ask my child questions about the day or the weekend. This makes SJN as much a community as it is a school. The classroom sizes are kept small so that each child has a chance for individual attention and instruction. SJN has early drop-off and late stay options, too. The other parents I've met tend to be highly involved in their children's lives. There are both fathers and mothers dropping off and picking up kids. I've made friends with many of the families, and hope to continue meeting even more! There is one extremely negative review of SJN pre-school here on Yelp from August 2017. I would ask other Yelp users to do their homework: inspect this reviewer's other reviews and draw their own conclusions about the fairness, accuracy, and focus of this 1-star SJN review.

If you feel you must go there then please check carefully with the other Mom's who are enrolled, if you go to the church as fellow members why they don't go, and make sure you get everything you need in writing from the director so that she has to follow up with what she promised. I've had one child in this school for the past few years but am now finally able to move to another higher quality Westlake Hills preschool. The wait lists are long so you take what you can get. The school itself is not too bad, definitely on the lowest end of the scale. The teachers are sweet but left to self direct. There is little to no direction that I've been able to tell from the director. Depending on your age and class you may have an extremely organized teacher who works really well with the kids or someone who's just a glorified babysitter. The turnover is pretty high but does seem to be balancing out a little recently. They were a "drop in" program at first and have just gotten licensed by the state this past year. That has helped a lot by forcing the school to get better organized. I'm also a member of the church - which is wonderful by the way, no complaints there! I only mention this because many of my fellow Mom's with pre-school age kids refuse to send their children to our own MDO program which I think is a shame. I'm now joining the ranks and moving. Kelly, the director is wonderful with the kids - she knows them all by name, gets down to their level to speak with them and is a sweet person. On the down side she's horrible at paper work and seldom returns phone calls or emails. If you are looking to join your best bet is to make an appointment or just show up to speak with her. Make sure you get ALL the paperwork and fill it out. She's often told mother's not to worry about it and then they never get in. Follow up with her yourself - frequently. The classrooms are temporary since they are used often for other meetings and events. Mrs. Vaughn's is stationary as is the baby room but the others are subject to change. Not a huge deal but know that any toys or activities the kids do will have to be brought out daily. There isn't any real indoor space to play in inclement weather so they are mostly left in the classroom. The outdoor playground is very nice though with plenty of shade and areas for smaller and older children to play. To sum it up for me, if you have another option take it. If this is your only choice it's not the worst place to be. Make sure you really understand if you are in or not and what days you get - the director won't always tell you and if you really want in you are going to have to stay on top of it. Good luck!

As a physician couple time is limited for us and just spending 15-30 mins a day going over Kumon homework has really made a remarkable difference for our child. I enrolled our younger child and also encouraged my brother to enroll his kids as well, we couldn't be more satisfied with that decision. It works, with just a little bit of followup from parents.
