Jesse from Student-Tutor walked me through the process of selecting a tutor for my high school aged son in the subjects of Algebra 2 and Physics. (We just moved here from out of state so I totally relied on Yelp reviews to find Student-Tutor.) I received a detailed bio on the selected tutor. He is a local college student and is flexible with his schedule and works very hard with my son twice per week. When we arrived in Phoenix one year ago Louca didn't know one word in English!. It was at this moment we had the chance to meet Miss Patty. Miss Patty is not only an experienced teacher but a great person. Her positivity and good energy made Louca connect with her from the beginning. As a result, Louca was more than happy to go to study at her home. Louca reached a point academically, where he was so advanced that we decided to start kindergarten one year before the official date for him. He has a December birthday, which is too late for the kindergarten deadline, and as a result it was necessary for him to test into kindergarten early. This decision was made, not just for Louca to continue learning, but additionally from a financial point of view Louca's starting school a year early, omitted the necessity of another year of preschool cost. We went in and had the assessment tests but I didn't get to see them so I'm not really sure what was tested. The young lady who works the desk is nice enough but she kept referring me to some magical email I would get with all the answers. I called and I get a voicemail so I leave a message and don't get called back...it just seems very blasé for a business that wants you to pay them for services. I'm not confident in them so I won't be using them or recommending them which is a shame because my kids and I were really looking forward to seeing how they could better their education through tutoring. They do attend Mathnasium across the street and the service received there has been amazing and so on point, the kids love going there and they have jumped up three grade levels in less than a year. So, if you're looking for math tutoring I would recommend calling them first.
