We have been working with Matilde for almost ten years. She and her sons and the rest of her crew are THE BEST. I have recommended them numerous times (only to nice people because I love Matilde and would never want her to deal with jerks) and everyone is blown away by the quality of the service. Recently, she did a massive amount of work for a friend's rental that I help out with sometimes. The previous tenants had not held up their end of the deal by caring for the yard and it was a jungle of prickly, overgrown cactus, aloes, and so many other things. On top of that, the ficus tree was damaging the front wall and sidewalk, and the palm tree in back was just a home for rats. I had to find someone to do some tree trimming in Silver Lake at my mom's house. Based on the reviews, I decided to refer her to Matilde's. Overall, it was a great experience for my mom. They trimmed the limbs off some really tall trees (and did it properly with the necessary ropes and such), took out a dead lemon tree, and lots of other odds and ends. I cannot give five stars because while she left to access more work, her team dug up my live tomato plant and a cucumber plant with obvious fruits and vegetables. They were explicitly instructed not to touch that area at all. Her team was left alone and they should not have been. We have a Pin Cushion plant native to South Africa that was full of flowers. Common sense would be to trim at the joints, not hack the trunk so that nothing could grow. They tend to hack down flowers instead of cleaning and trimming. This is the second time we called Matilde's Tree Services. The first time was 5 years ago when they came to remove a dead tree and a tree stump, which they successfully did. 5 years later, we have the neighbor's trees and our own trees touching our roof, palm trees that needed trimming, a dead tree that had to be taken out and a bougainvillea that we needed removed. They were not the lowest estimate but they were not the highest, either, and we decided to go with Matilde because they had done such a great job before. They came on time and got to work right away. Their work was so impressive to the neighborhood that I saw 3 neighbors come over to ask about their own tree problems and Matilde told me that when she was done with our house, she had a second job at the house across from us on trimming their tree. I guess our trees were pretty badly overgrown before because a neighbor came by to tell us how much neater it looks. I got to see them work on the house across the street and the crewmen are very careful and neat. They even blew out the neighbor's leaves in his rain gutters while they were on the roof, cleaning away the leaves. I would definitely call them again. My yard was really overgrown and messy, after a few years of neglect, and I needed it cleaned up. I also needed a couple trees to be cut down. Something had to be done. I called Matilde on a Wednesday and got a quote Thursday, and by Saturday 7am they were already at work.
