A few days ago, I was outside BBQ'ing when I heard a loud snap. Not the good kind. Turns out a massive branch (basically the size of a small tree) had broken off and landed squarely in the alley behind my house. Thankfully, no power or communication lines were affected, but the alley was completely blocked. Cars use it frequently, and emergency access would've been impossible. Not ideal. My homeowner's insurance sent me a notice of non-renewal due to trees too close to the house (Wawanesa). This is happening a lot in Los Angeles because of the recent fires. I was very reluctant to have tree trimmers on the property again because some years ago I was sued when a worker was injured and his company refused to take care of him, so as the homeowner, I was on the hook. In crazy California, that's how it goes. Glad I had good insurance and didn't want to lose it. I did my research and found Pineda's tree care. Ernesto called and texted, came by and gave a very good estimate and even said he'd include removing a roof-high weed tree that had grown up along the rear of the house that the insurance hadn't even mentioned. Ernesto and a team of about 5 guys showed up the next day and I was very happy they were all outfitted with the proper safety equipment, including headgear. Very professional. They worked quickly, and well coordinated - obviously these guys had been working together for a while. In just a few hours they had a 40-foot overgrown pepper tree and an overgrown Juniper and the weed tree done and pulverized and the area cleaned! He walked me through what he and his company planned to do and explained everything clearly in advance, which I really appreciated. He also worked with us to stay within our budget, which meant a lot. They arrived right on time and tackled a pretty massive tree trimming project for us -- one 70-ft tall eucalyptus tree and two very overgrown 40-ft ficus trees. They trimmed a significant amount off all three trees, and the results look great. Ernesto brought a crew of four, and I could tell right away they knew exactly what they were doing. They showed up with two large, new-looking industrial trucks that hauled away full loads, which made the whole process very efficient. What impressed me most was how thorough they were.
