The original vendor I had used before but their price had gone up a lot, Oscar came through with a quote that was in the middle but more than fair. I ended up choosing him based on his experience and a good first impression when we met and he gave me the quote. The job was to trim 2 tall trees and 2 hedges and it completed within 24 hours from the quote and I am extremely satisfied with the job done. The work was completed by Oscar, his dad and his brother; they all showed up early and finished on time and cleaned up after themselves meticulously. I am glad I picked him even though he was slightly more than the cheapest option because the quality of their work and professionalism made it worthwhile. (I have had work done by cheaper contractors before and ended up having to spend money to fix their problems.) It was a great experience hiring these guys and they worked their asses off even in the 90+ degree heat. Oscar was extremely responsive and communication was a breeze. Luis wants guaranteed business by charging a monthly fee to show up 2x/month year round. However, for simple lawn/hedge trimming and leaf clean-up, the amount he charges does not make sense. We struck a deal with him for ad hoc service, because nothing grows in the dry months of summer. However, we had a "no-call, no-show" during the rainy season when he had told us multiple weeks in a row that he would come by. When he finally showed up weeks later, he decided to charge us TWICE for overgrowth. Had he shown up the first time he said he would, that would not have happened. It seems he decided our business was no longer worth his time, so he decided to extract the most cash he could from us before we moved on. Needless to say, I cannot recommend Lona's to anyone after this experience.

On the first day of prep work, the crew cleared the soil but left a large pile of sand blocking my driveway before leaving and asking for a $500 deposit. The next morning, they returned with a larger crew and mixed the concrete right in front of my house. Unfortunately, concrete splashed around, leaving a significant mess in my front yard that was not cleaned up after the job was finished. Additionally, the leveling is uneven in several areas. Instead of sloping toward the drain, water pools and sits on the surface. While I appreciate their work ethic and friendly attitude, concrete does not seem to be their specialty.
