Having read the previous reviews, I chuckled to myself, somewhat understanding where these previous patients 'might' be coming from. That said, for 20+ years I've NEVER had any issues. Dr. Jones is a perfectionist, who has his own chair manuerisms and style. He expects those that work within his practice, or assist during any dental procedure, to be well versed on his style and expectations. Yes, I've seen him make a curt remark to an individual not familiar with his work style, but I've never been offended. What's most important, for 20 years I've found his work to be top shelf, unparalleled even, you should see my 'piece of art' back crown. Never have I considered another alternative where my dental needs are concerned, although his love for UCLA football leaves something to be desired. I regularly get my teeth cleaned by Diana who is equally adept as a hygienist. Dr. Jones takes an active interest in my teeth, and their condition, he makes recommendations about how to prolong the life of my teeth. As an example, he will call me out if he suspects I've ignored my bite guard. Tough love? Maybe, I've always seen it as smart advice from someone who cares. They boast state-of-the-art equipment, and most important, the priceless experience of a perfectionist.

At first, I was not sure what to expect since I was referred to two other root canal specialists for my tooth and had a terrible experience to begin with. The first one was rude and mean and looked like he did not know what he was talking about. The second one could not convince me why I needed the treatment he wanted me to approve. My new dentist highly recommended Dr. Mike Pirbazari and said he is his professor at USC and he is an expert in his work. I called Dr. Pirbazari's office to make an appointment and told them I was in a lot of pain. I talked to someone named Ida who was really helpful and asked me to come in right away. I was very scared to see another endodontist but she assured me that I was in good and capable hands. The office appeared modern and high tech and Dr. Pirbazari was so nice and knowledgeable. He took time listening to me telling him about what I had to go through for the past few months and how bad my experience was with other specialists I had to see for my tooth. He gave me his assurance that he would do his best to help me save my tooth. He examined my tooth and checked the X-ray, and explained the reasons for my pain. He told me I had a broken tool in my tooth and I needed surgery to repair my tooth. He was very nice and thorough and gave me a lot of confidence about accepting his recommendation. I went back to the office the next day and had my surgery done. I did not feel a thing. He was so gentle and light handed. He was very caring and even called me the day after the surgery to see how I was doing. It is now a few months and I have never had any pain. I am so grateful and appreciative. I have told all my friends and family about the excellent work he has done for me. I have heard that he is highly respected for his skills and professionalism. This review has nothing to do with the front desk staff they are all very nice. April 2025 I had three root canals done at the same time (top right, left bottom and right bottom molar). I was having pain, but I didn't say anything right away because I thought that because I had three done at the same time I needed more time to heal. I mentioned to the dentist that I was having pain. He said to wait a little longer it should get better. Well, pain did not get better it got really bad. I was having severe headaches, bumps on my gums, and my jaw was hurting, when I finally had an appointment either May or June I went in and they said that I had an infection and that they needed to remove my tooth immediately (not sure if that was even necessary). A few weeks later I went in because my other root canal was very sensitive (bot bottom right) and I wasn't believed right away. I was sent home and said that it was OK. I went back in. they took x-rays and actually it was not OK. Dr. Lim had to redo my root canal, this is second failed root canal. At the same time I also mentioned that the third root canal top right was also hurting and it felt like I had an infection since I already knew what an infection felt like I felt it and I knew that I had an infection. Dr. Lim guaranteed that I did not have an infection. He said we'll just watch your gums because they may be sensitive. I knew that was not the case. I felt that my eye was getting stabbed with an ice pick. My head hurting all the time my jaw, my ear. Everything was just in so much pain and the feeling of being stabbed with an ice ouch was so intense, he kept saying that I did not have an infection finally October 9, I saw a different dentist at Dr. Lim's office and he took x-rays and he said "it looks like you have an infection and your gums do have bumps around it ,but I'm not the specialist so I cannot verify, you will have to see Dr. Lim again". The following week I went in and I saw Dr. Lim and he guaranteed that everything was fine. He said that I do not have an infection. Meanwhile, I still felt the ice pick pain poking through my eye , my head, cheek and severe ear ache. Eventually, the lady dentist did a different kind of x-ray and guess what I did have an infection. It was confirmed that I had an infection. I asked if they can give me antibiotics and they said I didn't need antibiotics and they sent me away telling me that I had to see a specialist. I went to see the specialist had to pay a lot of money (which I had to do right away because I was in severe pain). The specialist confirmed that I had a really bad infection. He gave me antibiotics and also confirmed that the previous dentist where I had my root canal done missed a canal (third failed tooth canal by Dr. Lim). I am very disappointed because he did three root canals and all of them failed and when I brought up my concerns, I was ignored, not believed. Part of me thinks that he wanted me to lose another tooth because that's more money for him since I already have to get an implant because of their negligence. I have decided that I am no longer going to this dentist as well as my family and may seek legal advice. I don't know what Dr. Lim did to me, but all his work cost nothing but pain and suffering for me, his work cost me to lose a tooth, which is very depressing because that is part of my anatomy that is now missing. Now I have to spend thousands of dollars on an implant. This whole experience has left me traumatized and afraid to go to a dental office.

Dr. Gibson's office is a little tricky to find. It's located in the brick building above Tengu and Italian Express in Westwood. It's very homey inside. I get really nervous at the dentist, but I liked the soothing blue color on the walls, and there were lots of family pictures and cards up. I had the first appointment of the day, so they saw me right away. Dr. Gibson was very reassuring, and explained to me what she was doing the entire time. The dental hygenist Mary Jo is great. I don't floss, and in the past I've been berated by dental hygenists, leaving me feeling especially crappy. Mary Jo sympathized, and suggested some ways to incorporate it, without trying to sell me a $300 floss machine or telling me that my teeth are going to fall out. Overall, I still loathe going to the dentist, but I'll definitely come here again. Only four stars instead of five because there's no parking, and hell, it's still the dentist.

I went to my wisdom tooth removal appointment. The nurse took an X-ray. Dr said that my wisdom tooth is impacted (it wasn't, it was under the gum and tilted in a way it was starting to nudge into my second molar). Dr removed my second molar instead of my wisdom tooth. He placed my second molar back in its socket and removed the actual wisdom tooth. I was sent home with a prescription for painkillers and no apology. I was in immense pain for the following week. A couple of days after the incident, I fainted in the middle of Grand Central Market (I lost sight and fell on the ground, couldn't breathe, and my fingers were petrified). As a result of this malpractice, my second molar became infected and I had to get a root canal done, which the Dr paid for. Unfortunately, I must continue to monitor the health of this tooth as its condition will never be the same.
