Aged Tofu
Jose S.

We chose Matsuri for our anniversary dinner, and it could not have been a better choice. From the first bite to the last, the experience felt thoughtful, elevated, and genuinely special. We started with what might be one of the best comfort dishes we've had in a long time: crispy tofu in a deeply flavorful broth, topped with bonito flakes and scallions, alongside rich, tender pieces of beef. The balance between texture and umami was spot on, and it immediately set the tone for the evening. One of the highlights was the grilled fish, beautifully charred on the outside and incredibly moist on the inside, served simply with lemon and greens. It was a perfect example of how Matsuri lets high-quality ingredients speak for themselves. Clean, elegant, and full of flavor. We also shared a warm octopus dish with sautéed onions and peppers in a savory sauce that had just the right amount of depth and sweetness. The octopus was tender, not chewy, and paired wonderfully with a cold beer. Beyond the food, the atmosphere felt intimate and relaxed without losing that special-occasion feel. It was the kind of place where you can take your time, enjoy conversation, and feel present with the person you're there with. Matsuri made our anniversary dinner memorable, not just because the food was excellent, but because everything felt intentional. We'll absolutely be back, and it's now high on our list for future celebrations.

Every positive experience you have heard about this place is undeniably correct. The prices are indisputably unheard of in Miami for such high quality bites. I truly crave coming here way more often than I should and if you want a solid delicious sushi experience on a reasonable budget, this is about the best you'll be able to find in the city. I really recommend you go for one of their specials, whether it'd be the Masa, Go-to-go, or Go-to-ren; they are so filling and the best way to try everything this place has to offer. I also believe depending on how hungry you are, they are well more than enough of a serving for a fully satisfied meal. My only drawback about the Matsuri experience is that as a very "americanized" consumer of Sushi, I always love to have spicy mayo with my sushi, and their spicy mayo is not very good (the only thing I can say that about on the menu truly).

This place was packed and rightfully so!! We got the REN Special for 2. We also ordered handrolls and we did not need those. We devoured every piece, the quality of fish was so good. I wish I lived here or I would be coming back often.

I went on a Saturday around 7:00 PM and had to wait about 45 mins. There were people waiting outside since the the place is not big inside. However, it is very cozy and the ambient is great. We sat in a booth in the back and it was the perfect spot. The sushi we ordered was a combination of raw and cooked stuff. Everything came out pretty quickly and the presentation was beautiful. Everyone was very pleased with what they ordered. I ate the cooked stuff and it was delicious. The portion sizes are fair as well. The service was great, Maria was our server and she answered questions and was very nice. I would come back here again.

Shrimp Tempura was cooked to perfection. It was so crispy.

This is some of the best seafood I have ever had. Everything was delicious. The service was exceptional. The ambiance was like a packed restaurant. I would definitely recommend.

Masa for 2

A nice place! The service was pretty quick, we got the Masa for 2 which priced at $60 was decent for the amount of food we got and the quality of the fish. The interior was pretty cozy. Couldn't recommend this place more.

Had to stop here because I saw social media videos and the tuna looked so juicy so finally made it happen and so happy finally did! We did the large platter 100 bucks but so worth it you get generous portions and plenty of sashimi and nigiri it was to die for. I really am so impressed by the silogismo and if you're hungry hungry and can just take down endless Tuna this is your spot! Service was quick sweet and attentive. The location itself is small but spacious at the time I went which was middle of the week at the very opening. Highly recommend overall!

Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior! Matsuri may be some of the best sushi I've had in Miami, and I was so impressed by the stunning quality and freshness of the fish. Even the non-sushi dishes surprised me - I would highly recommend the Age Tofu and Udon noodles! For sushi, you can't go wrong with the Tomo Tomo Special - especially if you're in a group. I will definitely be thinking of this place when I'm craving a sushi experience that combines the quality of a high end restaurant with the ease and comfort of a local go-to.

We came here decades ago with someone from Japan so we were introduced to an authentic gem back in the day when sushi was not as common. We used to come frequently over the years as it was a family favorite; however, recently rediscovered it in Dec and went back twice in the past 3 months. We did not realize line up culture was a thing but we get why. In Dec, we ordered the Matsuri combo (pictured) 12 sashimi, 6 sushi pieces with miso soup & tuna roll along with a few other items, salmon aburi nigiris, ohitashi. We got yaki nasu grilled jap eggplant w/ bonito flakes and yasai Itamae sauteed veggies as take away. The server was a bit confused and not as attentive but they do get busy once they open. Then during our recent visit last week, we ordered Masa for 2 combo fish only (pictured) 16 sashimi, couple of sliced shellfish, 9 sushi pieces and 2 rolls: spicy tuna and california roll w/ unagi topped, and miso soup and house salad. The fish was so fresh, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Then we got ohitashi and kimchi-ae to go. If you're looking for authentic Japanese restaurant, this is it. Our server this time was great, attentive and explained the difference between Matsuri vs Masa boats. Hope to keep frequenting this gem.

This place was overwhelming, to say the least. We had two waitresses taking care of us it seems. My friend & I had a small corner table right by the side waiter station. When we sat down there wasn't much space at the table, we kept getting pushed to place an order right as we just sat down. We were given no time to ask any questions. As soon as we got our appetizer we were immediately asked to place our order for entree within minutes. We were then asked not to use the menu as a place mat and she physically moved it when the plate was barely on the menu and there was no food being eaten on it. We then watched the server dump a cup of water from someone's table into the pitcher then refill the cup with water and give it to someone else. Very fast paced restaurant but rushing your customers to hurry up and get out feels very uninviting and uncomfortable. Feeling very uneasy after seeing that and makes me question what else was mishandled behind what we could see. Don't see us returning.

I have been wanting to come here for years. It is a local gem. Make a reservation via phone. It is busy. Filled with dates, family, and friend groups. . The service was good. Very efficient. We went for the Masa for two. It was a great amount of sushi for two people for $30 each. My friend ordered the dessert. I did not try it. In terms of the sushi I highly recommend it. It is fresh with a great variety and amount. I am definitely coming back here again. They have excellent lunch specials. Easy parking. I am so happy I went to this local gem !

I want to start by saying that the food here is always a five out of five--consistently fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. However, this time, the service was slightly below expectations at a four out of five. Despite having a reservation, we were seated 15 minutes late, which was unexpected, especially on a Thursday night when the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. That said, once we were seated, the service was efficient, and our food arrived promptly. My boyfriend and I always opt for the Tomo Tomo for its superior quality fish, even though it is on the pricier side. I personally don't mind splurging for quality, and in my opinion, it's well worth it. The portion is generous, and the Tomo Tomo for two is always filling, especially with the included soup and/or salad. We were extra hungry this day so got the chicken skewers. The ambiance is upscale casual--elegant yet not overly formal. Overall, this place consistently delivers an excellent dining experience, and I highly recommend it for those looking for high-quality sushi and a refined but relaxed atmosphere.

I think I may have ordered a little too much! Lol Go to Ren special

Food here is always phenomenal and it continues to offer top quality sushi at reasonable prices. Truly the best sushi option in South Florida!

Ask the Community - Matsuri

Does anyone have a phone number for them that isn't always busy? Their 1615 number always has a busy tone and we can never make a reservation?

Their number is almost always busy, they are insanely popular. I love Matsuri, but reservations are usually either not taken, or not honored. I even tried just call ahead seating with no luck. Doesn't prevent me from going up to 3 times a month.…

Does Matsuri deliver? Does anyone else have trouble with their phone lines / getting through to order?

They don’t deliver. Did you call on a Monday? Because they are closed. If not, they were probably just very busy.

Anyone know why they are closed? Drove by last Friday after they didn't answer the phone and it was closed. No answer tonight either.

Employee Vacation! They'll be open soon. I think this week.

Definitely a hidden gem, you would never expect this spot when parking. When you head inside, it feels like an "I Spy" book, with little trinkets and new things to find with every second glance. The staff was super friendly and helped us navigate the menu, giving us recommendations. I ended up getting the La Toxica which appealed to me because it had melon soda. This one was a bit more on the sweet side and I enjoyed my partner's drink more- Agua de Violeta. This one was a fav of the night! Right next door, aka connected via an open door, was their dive bar- Yokocho. We headed into this spot after hanging a bit so we could hang out in there (a bit more spacious) and even play some pool. We got to meet one of the owners, Haidar, and he was super nice. We got some beer and hung out here for the rest of the night. We did get a little hungry so decided to get Cup of Noodle ramen (which was $1) and they had a cooler with hot water we used to make it. Such a cool spot and definitely recommend!

Recently, we moved to this area and have made this our go-to Thai restaurant and we also love their sashimi when you just want some great fresh slices of hamachi. Recently, I tried their pad thai. I am not normally a pad thai lover however, this pad thai is made with angel hair type noodles that really soak up the delicious sauce. Included in the chicken pad Thai is also perfectly cooked tofu and delicious pork rinds. Honestly, its so good that it can satisfy a pasta craving also. Their tom kha soup is also in my opinion the best in Miami. It's not overly watery or just coconut milk like most offerings. Pla tu makes it with fresh herbs and has a little bit of heat mixed in. It's so good. The pieces of chicken and mushrooms are also tender and not overly boiled like most tom kha soups. We also go for the sushi. Their sashimi is extremely fresh and we can never turn down some fresh sliced hamachi here. Lastly, yesterday we tried the Thai Donuts. I am not normally a fan but the waitress insisted we try and boy are we glad we did. They were warm pillows that melted in our mouths and we scarfed them down. I don't think I will ever visit again without ordering them. I love this place. Service is great. Food is consistently delicious and I will always be back.
