It was helpful to decide what to order. We got the sushi pizza which tasted SO fresh and amazing! It consisted of tempura rice bun, cream cheese, sweet plantain, avocado, smoked salmon, melted raclette cheese on top which was the BEST part, topped with passion fruit sauce and eel sauce on top. For the entrees, I ordered the Miami lover which was a tempura roll with tuna, kakiage, avocado, cream cheese, topped with tuna tartar, tamarindo glaze and ponzu sauce. It was FANTASTIC!!!!! Loved this roll. My friend got the Rocka N'Rolla which was a tempura roll with shrimp, crispy corvina, avocado, and kakiage, topped with a krab and masago mix, drizzled with spicy mayo. In addition, we got the blue bird which, we were told, was a best seller. This roll had krab, avocado, cream cheese, papitas fritas, green onions topped w/ sweet plantain, shrimp tempura, and tartara especial de la casa. For dessert, we ordered the cheeseCRACK! That said, we only came for dessert and coffee and both were scrumptious- huge and decadent and enough for 4 people. We had the kamikaze because we were craving something sweet and it hit the spot. Came here for the first time with some coworkers. Upon entering we were greeted and sat down quickly. Our server explained the menu to us, as it is not a typical sushi place but rather has a Latin fusion to it. After some time of looking through I chose the Eel Nigiri, Eel Handroll, Suntory, and Georgina Roll. I got the Eel Nigiri and Handroll as an appetizer and it came fairly quick. The nigiri was a bit bigger than other places I've been to and it was very flavorful, unfortunately the same couldn't be said for the Handroll. The eel wasn't as flavorful in the handroll, and I expected there to be cream cheese throughout the roll but it was only used to seal the handroll. The Suntory Roll is a basic roll, but despite that it was very flavorful, however the avocado was a bit overripe. The Georgina Roll is a good choice for those that are looking for low carb high protein options, however if you're not a fan of raw fish you'd might not enjoy it. I enjoyed the different textures of this roll, the crispiness of the shrimp tempura and the freshness of the salmon, however the avocado on this roll was underripe. Some of the dishes were big enough to share with the table. However it's important to note that they serve their dishes on big plates and the tables are a bit small. I just moved to Coral Gables and didn't have my kitchen setup yet so a friend ordered me sushi from Kong Sushi , it was rated a 4.8 I ordered sushi pizza , a mango tango roll , and miso soup as these where all top rated . Mango Tango Roll: In the to-go container there was some sort of mixed ceviche salad that tasted a bit rancid and had an unappealing texture . The roll itself had this nice crunchy spring mix style greens that reminded me of krouv or vinnegared cabbage salad that my aunt would make , when she used to prepare good food before she started following insta chefs like bruhama? Ruhama?. The fish in this roll is some sort of cooked fish , it tastes like mackerel or smoked fish dip. The tropical flavors on this roll barely come through and remind me of kids fruit snack cups. The Sushi Pizza came lukewarm , I wasn't sure if I was supposed to heat it or if the cheese was just supposed to be melted . The texture of the whole thing was melty and gross , it reminded me of some sort of gastronomic experiment that a kid would make high in a home ec class or Munchiez sandwich shop near f.a.u though their food is better. . It could go somewhere and the melted mozzarella? was nice though it felt like a failed experiment . The rice that held it together like a sandwich was too soggy in sauce and tasted like a rock , unlike the perfect crispy rice at Miso Japanese Tapas in Fort Lauderdale . The sushi was again some sort of cooked fish salad . I tried to convince myself to enjoy it, I guess its a grade above publix sushi. I didn't bother adding soy sauce as it didn't enhance the flavor as the sushi was cooked . The miso soup was oddly terrific. It came in a very large container and felt completely authentic and nourishing, I felt like a nee person after drinking it . The broth was thick and creamy and must have been cooking for days . It had little shiitake mushrooms floating in it which was cute . Not my favorite mushroom , its a little too dried and wood chipy for me though I enjoyed the extra protein and noodles. We shared a Florida crunch, beef yakisoba and their signature cheesecake and everything was delicious! Our server was very friendly and happy to help. I am always a little bit of a purist when it comes to fusion restaurants but Sushi Kongs roll was creative, fun, while still honoring the flavors of the cuisines without clashing. Found 1 other spot in boca but after reading reviews seemed this would b may more legit. When we got here so many other good thing on the menu so we decided to order a bunch of stuff and share. AMAZING We ordered a miso soup and four different rolls - Akita, Mexico lindo, a veggie and I forgot the fourth. They were all absolutely delicious and the soup was fantastic. I think it's one of the best miso soups I've ever had. It had a delicious piece of I think shiitake mushroom that was scrumptious. To avoid getting in detail about all the rules. I'm going to tell you a little bit about my favorite one, the Akita Linda. It's a different roll all around, instead of rice it has plantain and it's topped with melted cheese. We have been to Sushi Kong multiple times before 2020, and raved about it to friends as one of the best sushi places in Miami. Unfortunately, that is NO LONGER THE CASE. We went there tonight for dinner as we were in the area, and were looking forward to having some great sushi. My how things have changed! We went at 7:30 pm on a Friday and were shocked the restaurant was empty - only two tables with customers. The staff was friendly, but upon seating we noticed they handed us an iPad to view the menu (okay, odd - but we thought they must have never updated things from the pandemic). Then we ordered water and the waiter came with a bottle of Dasani water for both me and my date (no notice that we would be charged for this 16oz bottle). After ordering, we noticed the staff was distant and busy with the constant Uber pick-ups. *Note: there was a bunch of small flies that were hovering over the tables, including ours. We ordered the Bacon Boom (Dates & Chorizo) appetizer, and when the plate arrived and my BF took a bite it was FROZEN at the center. It appeared that it was microwaved and obvs never thrown in the fryer to cook properly. We immediately let the nearby waitress know, who apologized and offered another appetizer - we declined. At this point we were tempted to leave but wanted to give the place another chance. Regarding the Condiments: Eel sauce, ginger, etc. are presented in the takeout plastic cups with covers. *Classy* The wasabi was literally a 1/2 teaspoon. Sushi: When our sushi came to the table - we noticed our Hello Sushi Roll (one of the rolls with melted cheese) - we remembered the waiters in the past would melt the cheese at the table, now the cheese was already melted - and basically room temperature. Our 2nd roll, the Crunch - was warm, so it seems like our plates were just seating at the window. We honestly didn't finish our rolls. Between the flies, the rolls being mediocre, and our experience with the appetizer - we were turned off by the food. When we were done, the waitress came over to apologize, but also explain why the appetizer was frozen at the center, which sounded like she was making excuses. She then handed us the bill telling us that 18% gratuity was already included (!!) and had the nerve to say "you can leave additional tip" This use to be an awesome place to go and seat to have sushi, but it has gone downhill. From the looks of the amount of to-go orders the staff was preparing - this has become a takeout place. There doesn't seem to be any care for seating customers or the quality of food being served. End of story: Two sushi rolls + bottle of Dasani water + tip = $60 hard-earned money down the drain. My recommendation: Don't waste your time. Go somewhere else! read more

We were excited to try this place out after the pretty decent reviews Unfortunately we were not impressed and down right disappointed. The indoor seating had a cool vibe from the wall art and music videos on tv. We were sat in a cubicle which felt a bit closed off and tight. If you're claustrophobic it's not the best seating area for you. We eventually moved tables. Upon ordering we asked for tap water but was given bottled water which assuming we would have to pay for and we specifically did not ask for bottled water. However it was a honest mistake and it was returned. Taking barrels of trash out through the dining area and during operation hours while guests are eating isn't the best practice. As for the food experience, the power miso soup was average yet pricey for soup for $9. We ordered Yakimeshi (fry rice) with Chicken that wasn't anything to rave about but was good. The Romeo & Juliet Roll was probably the only bright spot which was really good. I felt this location was more of a quick lunch spot. First time here and definately not the last one! We decided to stop by, as we always drive by this spot on the way to work. It has a cool ambiance and the food was great!! We ordered the Romeo and Juliet roll, Alaska roll, pataKong and had to give in to try the cheeseCrack. Everything was absolutely delicious. Since it's a mix of sushi and Latin food, it can be a little heavy but nonetheless extremely tasty! My favorite was the Alaska Roll (I like raw sushi more than tempura/ cooked) but my second favorite was the Romeo and Juliet, sooo much flavor in that roll!! We ordered the pataKong thinking it would be two small bites but it was HUGE so keep that in mind. The cheeseCrack was amazing but also a huge portion for two people. I would have given this place 5 stars if I was reviewing this 3 years ago. It's true that people are more likely to review when they are not satisfied. If you're banking to go to this place because of the reviews, just take them with a grain of salt. I have came to this establishment many many times. I have even celebrated two birthdays here. This place used to be upbeat, with a DJ, and a cool atmosphere. Now it's boring, bland, and there are always crying children/toddlers. Fried rice is really good from what I remember 3 years ago. Cheesecrack is a staple and will always be the best dessert. Service is okay. The gentleman who seems to be the general manager (since I have seen him there for years) took our order and straight up tried to tell me what to eat. I understand you wanna make a recommendation but save it for someone who asks. Annoyed me and made me choose something else. Eventually I ordered what I originally wanted. This is slowly going to become a takeout spot if their service and staff remains the same. Needs to go back to its roots. Have the servers pour the cheese. We had to wait for over 30 minutes to get our food, and it was empty. They were too busy getting their take out ready. I have to say, the sushi and desserts were so DELICIOUS. Life changing. My experience at Sushi KONG was exceptional to say the least. I called in same day to make a reservation for a group of 5. We were seated as soon as their staff diligently took all precautionary COVID measures. We dined in a private seated area, throughout the evening the staff checked on us regularly. Special shout out to Nicolas for the outstanding service. Our table started off with Sake bombs. Cold sake paired with Sapporo. Sushi KONG offers a versatile selection of specialty drinks. Their twist on mojito has sake....game changer. For sushi- the trophy goes to the Miami lover roll. Best roll I've ever had it in my life, no joke. The tuna tartare on top sealed the deal. The Romeo Juliet roll was fantastic but the Miami lover was a crowd favorite hands down. For vegetarian rolls, the veggie San was a delight. Topped with seaweed salad this roll can be enjoyed by all. To finish an already memorable dinner we did what any Yelper would do and ordered the CHEESECRACK. In caps cause WOW JUST WOW. A perfect name for a perfect dessert. Fried cheesecake topped with ice cream and a specialty Nutella sauce made in house. In addition to this, Sushi Kong gifted us with their chocolate kamikaze.
