    Passion fruit sangria

This is a small restaurant with a nice ambiance. Very good and attentive service. I started with the sangria and then moved on to the half Miami heat roll, half crunch roll and ended with the short ribs udon. The udon was really good when you mixed the gravy together with the noodle.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! One of the BEST experiences I've had at a restaurant in a while. I was beyond impressed. My boyfriend & I wanted to check out a new spot for dinner recently & after reading their amazing reviews, we decided to stop in. We were seated immediately & our waitress Ani(?) was so sweet and everyone there was super attentive & helpful. The place itself is SO cute! Super authentic vibes: sorta like a teeny, tiny Asian castle, replete with stone walls, Chinese lanterns, kimono's draped casually over the bar seats & Studio Ghibli classics playing on a loop. Definitely does NOT feel like a Miami spot. We started with cocktails and then just decided to order a lil bit of everything: - LAVENDER MATCHA SAKE for me and the PLUM MOJITO for my guy. Both incredibly beautiful and soooo delicious & original! -TORI KARAAGE was great! Super crispy and well seasoned. -PASSIONATE SCALLOP was unbelievable! Absolutely gorgeous plating and amazingly complex combination of flavour. -SOY BUTTER GARLIC SNOW CRAB NIGIRI was so simple yet incredibly fresh & delicious -OASIS DUMPLIN' again, gorgeous AND delicious -MIAMI HEAT ROLL (surprise, surprise) was yummm & perfectly spicy! -THAI CUCUMBER cocktail & SPICY MANGO SAKE cocktail were again, phenomenal. SO interesting & perfectly balanced. -CREME BRULEE & BLACK SESAME one of the best desserts ever! loved! If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. My only complaint would be that they have SO MANY amazing sounding dishes on the menu, it's gonna take me forever to try them all!!!

This has been open for almost a year, and it quickly became one of my favorites because of the people the quality and the creativity. We visited during happy hour which meant 2 for 1 skewers, discounted apps, and discounted specialty drinks. While this spot has extremely fresh fish, what makes them stand out is how they are not afraid to experiment with food. The chef brought out this chicken seaweed pesto cauliflower purée thousand layer potato situation and I have never had anything like it before. They make everything in house like the Vietnamese iced coffee ice cream where they put 20 shots.

This is my favorite sushi place in Coral Gables. As a starter, I had the chicken Kushikatsu, it was 10/10. I then ordered the Coral Gables sushi, and it was incredibly fresh. I finished with an ice cream sampler for dessert, which was also 10/10. The space is small but cozy.

Appetizer were amazing, the Mai special Sushi was ok, I expected more sushi items, bit mostly we got cooked in our special, service was wonderful, staff were attentive and helpful. Love the intimate and cozy ambience that would be great for a date night or happy hour with the crew.

Loved having dinner here. Everything that we ordered tasted great. Loved that there was a happy hour menu, which made it more fun. Customer service was also really nice.

Love this place! I came here for all day happy hour on Tuesday, starting at 4:30pm and it did not disappoint! All appetizers are 50% off and select sushi rolls are offered at a great price! There are traditional Japanese dishes as well as interesting and cool mash ups, like the pintxos, which I will need to come back to try. We ordered the Ika mentaiko butter, which was my absolute favorite dish. The ebi croquette was unique and delicious, and the karaage is always a classic tasty dish. Alongside the amazing food deals, the sake is $5 and the beers are $2. This is very hard to beat! The staff were all very nice and attentive. This is a great spot to catch up with friends or come for a cute date night. I will be back soon!

Had seen a fellow yelper rave about this place, and figured a rainy Saturday like today would be perfect to come by. Loved it, really enjoyed everything I had! Here's the chowdown: - Passionfruit Lychee Shisho - Seattle Amigo roll - Samurai Breakfast roll - Jalapeño Pineapple - Black Sesame Mochi Both of the rolls were highly recommended by the staff and I'm glad I took their word for it. Perfect sweet and salty contrast between them, devoured them as served. I had the Passionfruit lychee first and then the Jalapeño Pineapple, and if I had to do it again I would do it in reverse, as I think the Passionfruit Lychee would have been amazingly paired with the Black Sesame Mochi, which was an excellent closer :) They were out of the Matcha Mochi but hooked it up with matcha froth as a base. Oishii! Arigato Gozaimashita to everyone for their friendly service, definitely looking to come back ASAP!

Tucked into the corner of Miracle Mile and Galiano Street is an assuming restaurant you may stroll right by. I suggest you stop and take another look. This hidden gem serves what I'd be willing to argue is the best Japanese food in Coral Gables. If you're free for lunch, treat yourself to their premium lunch which contains samples of all their best dishes like the tori karaoke (fried chicken), crispy brussel sprouts, salmon sashimi, shishito peppers, and more! Come hungry and leave satisfied! They have a full bar with fun cocktails. If you want a non-alcholic option, try the lychee strawberry tea. It was delicious. The restaurant and small cozy. It is perfect a solo meal at the bar or an intimate meal. The service is great and you are made to feel welcome.

"Delicious, affordable sushi in Coral Gables" is a combination of words that's hard to believe, but Mai Sushi Tapas makes it true! This small spot just off Miracle Mile has the BEST sushi lunch deal I've ever had - the $24 box comes with a mix of cooked foods, sashimi, sushi, and their sushi pintxos, a unique Japanese/Spanish fusion snack. The food is excellent and modestly priced, the space is comfortable and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Having to pay for parking in the Gables is annoying, but I'll happily do it to enjoy another fantastic lunch here!

**Mai Sushi Tapas: A Culinary Experience Beyond Basic Sushi** Mai Sushi Tapas is not your typical JB Roll joint. Every dish here is a work of art, showcasing the Chef's mastery and commitment to innovation. This is sushi elevated--featuring a diverse selection of fresh fish and unique ingredients you won't find at your average sushi spot (if you're looking for basic, there's always Sushi Sake). This place has quickly become one of our favorite and most frequently visited spots in the Gables. **The highlights?** Pretty much everything. I highly recommend the premium boxes and pintxos--both are Chef's choice and always an exciting surprise. The Toro is outstanding, and the menu often features specialties like amberjack and fried oysters. Beyond the food, the ambiance is something special. The intimate space is infused with a nostalgic 90s anime/Naruto vibe, making it a cozy and unique setting--perfect for date nights but not ideal for large groups due to its size. **A couple of things to note:** They don't have a full liquor license, but they make up for it with delicious and inventive sake-based cocktails. **Final verdict?** Do not skip out on Mai Sushi Tapas. It's an unforgettable culinary experience that keeps us coming back for more.

Nestled right on the iconic Miracle Mile, Mai Sushi Tapas Bar is one of Coral Gables' newest spots. I decided to come eat here after a while feeling under the weather. My fiancé didn't join me this time (gasp), but she still vicariously ate through pictures I sent her. Upon entering I was immediately taken care of and was sat at the bar per my request. The restaurant itself is just what you expect from a Coral Gables spot. It has a cool flair to it. It is much smaller than other places so expect to wait if you're a bigger party on a busy night. To start things off I order a Manju Junmai Ginjo which was so sweet and easy on the palate. Then I ordered my food and really just went for it. I ordered two orders of sashimi featuring the hamachi and unagi. I ordered an uni sushi. And I ordered the 8 piece assorted sushi box. Once my order was taken care of I was sat waiting for a while. This allowed me to watch some anime (the OG Gundam was being projected onto a wall so that was dope to enjoy) while I waited for my food. Once it came out I was able to dig in and wow, let me just say this was amazing. Each cut was perfect and delicious and perfectly paired. The hamachi and unagi went so well together with the hamachi being cold and unagi hot. The assorted box could be eaten any way you'd like but I opted to do it in order from top left to bottom right and wow. Each sushi had such a fun unique flavor profile and was such a delight. The uni was a flavor bomb. One bite of it and I knew it was easily my top bite of the night. Once I finished my food I had to inquire about dessert. It is NOT featured on the menu but rather is word of mouth. I opted for the Chicha Morada Ice Cream which was such a nice refreshing palate cleanser to end the night. Overall though, this was such a nice surprise. We had been wanting to come here for a while and to see it actually lives up to the hype was so great to see. I will say the total cost was a tad high, but it's Coral Gables so ya gotta roll with it. Regardless, I will definitely be coming here again (with my fiancé) to enjoy some bangin sushi! But until next time, folks!! Enjoy the meal!!!!

Sushi-liscious‼‼‼ Enter Mai Sushi Tapas & Bar and be welcomed with "Irasshaimase!" Or "Welcome!" by co-owner Kevin. New to the Coral Gables restaurant scene, MST&B is indeed a welcomed experience, more chill--no attitude. The decor reminds me of Kyoto with all of the natural elements, textures and design details. The ambience and lighting enhances the playful artistry of Sushi Chef and co-owner Shinmi. The staff are delightfully helpful with suggestions, service, and enthusiasm. Good vibes and harmony. And the sushi.......YUM!!!! Cannot wait to try more items on the menu which offers a variety and assortment of sushi and tapas including specials depending upon the daily seafood arrivals from Japan. Absolutely I will return again and again. Sushi fun!!!

Server was pleasant and friendly but accidentally put in an order for an onigiri that we never ordered and forgot to put in the order for a black garlic ramen my friend ordered. When we asked about the missing ramen order he quickly went to the back to put in the order but ordered the wrong ramen which was a regular tonkatsu ramen. Another thing that was a little irritating was that the bathroom's paper towel dispenser was empty so you couldn't dry your hands after washing. Given that there was only one other table with two customers during the entire duration of our meal, it seems kind of inexcusable that the employees could not check and replace the dispenser while they were also using during the time of service. Regarding the meal, The black Garlic ramen was decent albeit slightly salty and the texture of the noodles was nice. My friends tonkatsu ramen was a little too creamy for the soup and came with thinner b noodles which was a little disappointing and unexpected as it was not mentioned in the menu that there were any differences in the type of noodles in each ramen choices. The sushi rolls were good. They were well made and flavorful. Overall I would recommend this place and think it's worth a try.

We were so happy that we did, the ambience is so nice in there they had a skylight in the roof in the dining room that gives you a lot of beautiful natural light and the decor is modern and chic. Not to mention the awesome selfie mirror in one of their bathrooms (photo below, hehe) I can't remember our server's name, he was a younger guy with shoulder length hair, he was so great, giving us all the time we needed to make a decision and then extra time at the end to chat and schmooze and finish our drinks, even when all of the food was gone without pressuring us to pay and leave and free up the table. The happy hour menu is from 4 to 7 and has a number of good options, we tried the spicy margarita and it was so good. Passionfruit flavor, not as spicy as I would have hoped. I think they mostly dropped a jalapeño slice in there in there and called it a day, but still really refreshing and nice. I also got the garden salad since I love the ginger dressing, and it was true to its form I got the Alex #2 roll and the South Miami roll off the happy hour menu, I believe these were the only two sushi rolls there, they each came with six or seven pieces and everything in total was a great size for me. Not to mention the prices were great, less than $10 for each of these rolls. We tried the gyoza for the table and it was also fresh perfectly crispy, but not too much so as well as the taras tuna and tuna tartare. The only dishes I don't think we'd order again where the chicken teriyaki and the chicken Katsu - the chicken itself was good, but the chicken teriyaki came as a kind of Mish mashed plate slapoed together, not enough for a variety and texture for my taste. The chicken Katsu was also missing the signature Japanese curry sauce that usually comes with it. They did give a sauce that we thought was the curry but when we actually tried it, it was more like a watery barbecue sauce and a little disappointing. But The fish was all very fresh and delicious. I thought for the happy hour price It was a great deal and a great time. I don't come to Coco walk that often but I would definitely come back when I do

I've dined for both lunch and dinner. I was impressed on both occasions. I tried the salmon, hamachi and tuna sashimi. I could see the chef literally slicing my sashimi pieces from the fish! It was a sight to see. I love love love sashimi, but the salmon was notable. It was buttery and seemed like it was melting in my mouth. Loved the texture. I've also tried their Osumi Steak (filet mignon with mushrooms and mashed potatoes). Five stars. I ordered my steak medium well. It was cooked perfectly. The gravy was poured tableside and was a nice complement to the potatoes. I cleaned my plate. For lunch, I've tried their sushi. My favorite was the Kanicado Roll, which had blue crab, avacado, cucumber, masago and aioli. Being from the DMV, I definitely critiqued the "taste" of the blue crab and it was all good! Well done. I actually caught pieces of the blue crab shell in the sushi. Although some may gripe about that, I welcomed it. It made me feel confident that I was actually eating MD blue crab. This roll was really good and I would get it again. I also tried the Ryu Roll. This was also tasty. It was a bit heavier than the Kanicado because of the avocado and the shrimp tempura, and it was on the spicier side. The Ceviche Yellowtail was a star too. The plating was nice. The tuna and tangy cream sauce brought balance to the sweet potatoes. I will admit I was a bit apprehensive to try, but it worked well and I would get it again! Lastly, as for the service, Gregory was awesome. He recommended all of the dishes that we tried. He was attentive and checked on us frequently. If you can't tell yet, I recommend Osumi. 10/10 (or by Yelp's standards-- 5/5!). Cheers!
