I saw Dr. Finerman over 2 years ago for vertigo and the in-office experience was okay -- he cares about your health, which is always the most important thing. But the insurance and billing issues I've had since that appointment have given me many headaches. Their billing department said my insurance had lapsed, which it did not, and I also didn't have that issue when I was at urgent care the day prior and my gyno the next week, plus it was only an issue for 1 of my 3 visits with Dr. Finerman. So I don't think they put much of an effort to work with insurance companies. When I called their office to dispute, they told me to call their billing department, which is a voicemail-only service where you leave a message describing the issue and then THEY will call YOU back. I called multiple times and did not receive a call back, and I thought perhaps they resolved the issue with the insurance company since my calls weren't being returned. Nope, it was sent to bill collection, which was a scary first for me. The bill collector representative was helpful and worked with their billing department, and they understood the problem. I thought they resolved the issue (I had called to confirm but again never received any calls back). Nope! Fast forward to over 2 years later, and I received a bill collection notice from the same bill collector. In the 2 years since I last saw Dr. Finerman, I got a new job and thus new insurance and can no longer dispute their claim, so I had to eat the cost. A very disappointing billing experience that I hope they take seriously and that I hope new patients will stay vigilant about. read more

Dr. Finerman is a true American hero! It's very hard to find a specialist like him. He takes the time to listen to his patient's concerns and does everything in his power to address them. He's an honest, intelligent, and modern otolaryngologist with decades of experience behind him. He will take his time to ensure that every option is exhausted before taking you to the operating room. This man is also constantly doing his research so he can stay up-to-date on modern techniques and findings in his field. I'm a non-insurance cash patient and saw Dr. Finnerman in Sept 2020 based on his Yelp reviews for helping patient's with vertigo, which I suddenly started suffering. Really appreciated how helpful and friendly the front desk and staff were (in the phone and in person). One of the more pleasant doctor office experiences I've had in awhile. They even offered me a discount on the normally cash patient $300 office visit. Dr Finnerman is a funny ole doc, and if you enjoy lively conversations, witty banter and a friendly medical experience, he's your guy. But I still felt like he was an expert in his field, so the funny and friendly demeanor definitely didn't detract from feeling confident I was in the hands of an expert. He took his time with me and was very helpful in explaining things and answering all my questions. He quickly arranged an appointment with an audiologist who was able to significantly help my vertigo and a few weeks later I would say I'm 97% better. Dr. Finerman is an extraordinary doctor whom I've seen for many years. He's so kind and warm, and his expertise has proven phenomenal over the range of issues he's treated for me. Like many physicians these days, Dr. Finerman doesn't accept every insurance plan (and he is no longer on my plan either.) But his cash/credit card prices are quite reasonable - at least speaking as someone who doesn't care to economize too hard when it comes to my health. Just received a bill via certified mail from over two years ago because their billing department obviously let something slip through the cracks. This bill obviously doesn't sit well with me, not only because of the very strange and desperate timing, but because I went to Dr. Finerman for a sinus infection in 2020. I was really suffering for over two months and with different antibiotics, it would go away and then comeback strong. I thought he was a good doctor, so when he told me I didn't have a sinus infection, I took his word for it. In fact, he told me to see a neurologist for migraines instead. Something made me question his suggestions, but I took his word for it. My sinuses were still so terrible and I was in so much discomfort I decided to have sinus surgery a couple of months later to finally have relief. However, it turns out I did have a sinus infection all along and he misdiagnosed me. It resulted in massive complications after my surgery. The infection spread to the skin on my face and my entire nose. I had a huge abscess, I needed to have a drain put into my face and see an infectious disease doctor (during the height of covid might I remind you). Turns out, it was specific type of bacteria that is resistant to most antibiotics and that it why it kept coming back. Needless to say, I DONT recommend Dr. Finerman and getting this random surprise bill, reminded me I needed to write this review to warn others. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Finerman for decades. As a schoolteacher, I had every imaginable flu, cough, cold, virus, bronchitis, laryngitis, and ailment out there. Every time I went to Dr. Finerman feeling lousy and miserable, I left feeling very relieved and human again. He is the most caring, kind, knowledgeable, and patient doctor imaginable. First of all, I do believe he's knowledgeable and I appreciate his holistic approach first. He likes to ease the atmosphere with jokes but jokes don't make all patients feel comfortable. I don't have a good track record with "understanding, kind" doctors. And he was no exception. With that being said... my issue with him is his bedside manner. My first visit was for a consultation to remove my tonsils. I've had throat infections my whole life. Multiple times a year. I had enough and it felt like my tonsils were gagging me. He said my tonsils weren't that swollen. Ok. If that's the case I need to get to the root of the problem as I can't live this way anymore. Whatever it is makes me gag multiple times a day. He put me on a routine of an expensive, specific throat gargle cocktail. He told me to take mucinex to help with my ear congestion. Told me natural methods to try to manage the issues. I already exhausted the natural methods which is what brought me into him. I don't go to doctors for every little issue, I only go when I have to. Then he put me on heartburn medication even though I don't have actual "heartburn". He said sometimes stomach acid makes it's way into the esophagus without all the symptoms of indigestion. And then he prescribed me a steroid for my ears, which helped, a yeast pill because he put me on a second round of stronger antibiotics. I had two rounds of antibiotics within two months. My problem didn't get any better. I was completely comfortable following his instructions until he yelled at me. He yelled at me twice. The first time was my first visit which I disregarded as him joking. He yelled at me because I grabbed his arm when he swabbed my throat because I have a super sensitive gag reflex. I didn't mean to do it, it was my reflex. I imagine he's used to it. The second time was my next visit. I was trying to describe my symptoms and asking questions, but because the words I used to describe how I felt weren't medically accurate, he got frustrated with me and legitimately yelled at me. I teared up and shut down. I was ready to rip my tonsils out myself and never see another doctor again. I got the impression he has a superiority complex. I could be wrong but his reactions twice were enough for me. I can't say he's a bad doctor, I can only say he's not for me. read more

Smart, precise, organized (very good office staff, which is NOT a given in the medical field), caring (arranged my visit to UCLA Oncology for a communal assessment of me by all doctors in their department), and I'm glad to see him every few months. When he told me I had cancer (SNUC - look it up) there was no fake empathy/drama on his part, and that led me to be calm and alert to whole situation. He had arranged with my insurance (Motion Picture) and UCLA to get me into their program quickly, as SNUC is rare and apparently virulent. Anyway, that was 6 years ago, and all is good. Dr Finerman is AMAZING. He is BRILLIANT - I suffered for months from an ear/throat infection so bad I couldn't talk or sleep, going from doctor to doctor until I had the good fortune to meet him. Not only did he fix it, he dealt swiftly and deftly with threatened recurrences. He was the first doctor who cared that I was in pain, and went out of his way to make me feel better. He is also KIND. Both he and his assistant Stacey are two of the kindest people I have ever met. Because my infection lasted so long and was so painful, I now have memory pain - pain that feels like an infection, but actually nothing is there. I have gone back to him so many times worried I was sick, only to find out once again it's phantom pain. Some doctors would get annoyed; Stacey and Dr. Finerman have been only supportive and kind. Dr. Finerman was a God send for me this week. After taking a flight while congested, my ears never popped back and I felt like I was living life under water. On the third day, I scored an appointment with Dr. Finerman and I can't even describe how thankful I am. He had all kinds of tricks up his sleeve to fix the problem and I left feeling almost 100% better that quickly. I had this same problem about a year ago and my doctor then told me there is no fix and I just had to give it time--it took 10 days to unpop and as someone who is on the phone for a living, it was impossible to do my job. Dr. Finerman has fantastic bedside manner--tells you everything he is going to do, tells jokes, makes you feel comfortable and at one point when I got woozy (I'm such a wuss) he was so nice and patient and just talked with me until the spell passed. Unfortunately I will tell you that I'm 50yrs of age and have seen a boat load of doctors in my life. Dr Finerman was suggested to me by my Cardiologist (Dr. Shervin Eshaghian)who practices in the same building and is also an incredibly talented doctor. Dr. Finerman hands down has been and is my favorite doctor I've ever seen. He is the most professional, thorough and nothing short of THE most hilarious doctor in the country! Dr. F told me most of his clients don't need to be operated on despite his wife needing new living room furniture! Hahaha. And he was right...he took care of my issues without surgery. I've been a patient of Dr. Finnerman close to 10yrs. I have all the trust in the world with him as a doctor, I trust his methods of work which I perfer, then other younger doctors that just giving you something to take, just to take. From taking my calls when sick to returning my calls ASAP, to calling in my meds if needed, his staff are on top of it. I was hospitalize at Cedars Sinai about a year ago and Dr Finnerman came to see me even though my hospitalization had nothing to do with E.N.T. basically just cared for my wellbeing. I recently started getting allergy shot from the office of Dr. Finnerman at about a month ago, the staff is very friendly and speak multiple languages. I have they worse allergies possible, since getting tested about a month and a half ago. I recently started getting allergy shots twice a week, it's been the best thing that the doctor has ever prescribed for me, I feel 60% better in under two months! My initial comprehensive visit with Dr. Finerman was exactly five minutes and to my amazement he took a personal phone call during my brief office visit! He seemed to be in a rush, did not explain much about my condition, gave me a Piece of paper with some jaw exercises and that was my comprehensive visit!!when I asked to get a prescription for MRI, he told me it does not help my situation!The next morning I felt a lot of pain in my left ear and I called his office and insisted in getting the MRI order.As it turned out I had dislocated my left TMJ And my condition was much more serious than he Thought. Beware of the five star ratings. Dr. Finerman does not have an important tool known as a nasal endoscope to perform a proper evaluation. I endured a prolonged, expensive and unnecessary trial and error program of nasal washes, cultures, prescription sprays and drugs which failed to have any impact on my chronic sinus condition. I flew to CA for Thanksgiving and had a great deal of pain in my ear and some blood. I frantically tried to find an ENT doctor to see me the day after Thanksgiving and it was my good fortune to get an appointment with Dr. Finerman. He was kind, caring and incredibly effective in providing some relief to my swollen and clogged ears. Since I was quite concerned about flying back East with this ear condition he also made time in his busy schedule to see me a few days later to determine if I was ok to fly. He once again performed some low tech, but highly effective techniques to open up my ears. We then saw that my ear drum had indeed punctured. He advised me to make an appointment for my ENT when I arrived back East and he wants me to send him a copy. I feel so lucky to have met him and his wonderful assistant Stacey.
