I hesitate to write Yelp reviews for medical professionals because it isn't like a restaurant. It is an art and a science to diagnose and treat. I had high hopes for Dr Nasseri who was referred for me by a trusted doctor. Please note: 1. The doctor has a massive ego. He tells you about his famous clientele whether it is relevant or not. 2. HIPAA violations left and right. He told his staff about my personal health history while I stood there. Why? Because I lost weight. No one's business. Also see item 1. 3. He went to Harvard and told me at every visit. Not relevant. 4. You pay cash up front (which is why I could get in right away) but they won't bill your insurance for two months. I fronted several thousand dollars out of pocket. And had to nag and nag his office to submit. 5. Inappropriate and overly personal questions. Example: He was frustrated when he couldn't get a scope down my nose and asked me if I was an assault victim? Hello, what? He also commented on my clothing at each visit. 6. Can't diagnose as well as I can. I kept telling him to review my medication as possible contributor to my sinus infection. I ended up researching the side effects of it and guess what - causes sinus infections was number 1 and suppresses immune system so antibiotics don't work. There was more but ultimately I left his practice and waited until my regular Cedars Sinai ENT could see me and now after surgery and treatment I am much better. read more

So this is comical - I just called in with the intent of booking an appointment. I spent maybe 10 seconds describing my symptoms and asked when the first available appointment would be. For starters, the receptionist was super mousey and couldn't articulate. Second, I never learned when the first available appointment was, as she spent the entire time telling me its a $300 consultation, no insurance is accepted, and the $300 does not include any tests. Dr. Nasseri has once again shown that he is hands down, the best ENT out there. I felt vocal issues coming on and was scared to go to a doctor in the Covid world. His staff was fantastic. Air filters in the waiting room, but they moved me in within a minute. Everything was so incredibly clean, you could actually smell the disinfectant (made me feel at ease) and the staff was so kind and professional. Dr Nasseri did a video scope of my vocal chords and found a massive sinus infection dripping on them. He doesn't just figure it out, he explains and answers every single question. The video is so clear and you can see exactly where each part of your vocal chords are and how they close and open and where the damage is. The best part is that he listens. Brilliant and he listens? What? He asks about my life (3 kids) and is realistic. How can I achieve vocal rest? What are my options? He always has a plan. I came back 2 weeks later to a major improvement. 1 polyp had healed and the bruising was much much better. He remembers not only who you are but what you do and what your life is. You aren't a "chart" to him. Dr. Nasseri still jokes and calls me my maiden name (we chuckle about that) and he remembers about my kids and he literally CARES. No, he doesn't take insurance, but they will bill yours for you. He is expensive, but let me tell you-I've spent my life finding the very best doctors and they are 100% worth every penny. When a singer goes to an ENT for vocal problems and then the doctor MISDIAGNOSES the treatment for the patient and then puts the singer on a MASSIVE HIATUS that does nothing to improve her situation, then I simply cannot trust the doctor to see me to a road of recovery. I never felt that Dr Nasseri gave me the proper time and attention and would limit my questions in my office visit. I'm paying out of pocket to see him and he's like "well I have a lot of other patients to see today so you get 5 questions". Excuse me??!!! Well your patients can wait just the way that I did. I paid to see you and have many questions so that I can make the best decision moving forward; do not put a limit on any questions that make me feel unsure about the next steps. That's what the visit is for. I have never felt so uncared for and so insignificant to a health practitioner. My voice is my livelihood, and for this rude doctor not to realize that and truly offer me the BEST option to recovery is absolutely shocking and completely Unacceptable. I would advise anyone seeking a good ENT to go anywhere but here. I'm planning a visit to one just outside Los Angeles who took the time to do a preliminary phone meeting to address ALL of my concerns and questions. That kind of care and attention is invaluable. The receptionist hung up on me mid sentence... Dr. Nasseri is GREAT. Super thorough, genuinely cares about each one of his patients recovery. However the receptionist who answers the phone is EXTREMELY rude. I followed up after an appointment about a prescription being called in, after giving me attitude for asking simple questions that she didnt know that answer to she said she would leave word and they would call me back. They never called back. I followed up a week later, got the same person on the phone who told me it was already called in, as if i should magically know that even though they never told me. I asked which pharmacy, she said they would call me back. I asked if i could call later in the day because they never returned my call last time, to which she HUNG UP on me mid sentence. She is not fit for a position with that little patience and attitude. These are your customers who pay a lot of money for treatment. No reason to treat them like they are lesser than you. read more

When Dr. Nasseri first told me he wanted me to do a few weeks of vocal rest I thought he was crazy and there was no way it would work. Sure enough, two weeks later I come in for my follow up and my vocal cords are 90% healed. I've been seeing Dr. Shawn Nasseri since 2006 and he has become a father to me. Literally, he calls me his "Indian son". He is THE ABSOLUTE BEST. If I could give him more than 5 stars, I would. He is an incredible doctor, top-notch surgeon, and most of all, a GEM of a person. Many multi-platinum and Grammy award winning artist trust HIM with their throats, ears and noses. He has more platinum plaques gifted to him than most recording studios. So if they trust him with their money-makers, he can damn sure take care of my average self! But he treats every one of his clients like family, like a star, whether you're a recording artist or not. He goes above and beyond - fits me in his schedule even if his day is crazy, calls in prescriptions over the weekend. I don't know another doctor that cares like he does. And his warm, friendly staff follow his lead; they're empathetic and make the office feel like a home away from home. Some surgeons are trigger happy to slice you open. Not with Dr. Nasseri. He explores all options before surgery. Case in point: me! I've been a complicated case. I had about a dozen throat infections in 18 months. Ridiculous! With no other options, Dr. Nasseri took out my tonsils. The surgery was flawless. (But recovering from a tonsillectomy, especially as an adult, is anything but a walk in the park - you've been warned.) I continued to get sick. Thinking allergy issues could be the root problem, he referred me to The Allergy Clinic in West LA, where I discovered how allergic to this planet I am. I started allergy shots and a customized allergy regimen, which has helped a lot. I was getting sick less often, but was still getting sinus infections every 2-3 months. So last year, we did a sinus surgery. That was a complicated procedure, but he also handled it flawlessly. (FYI, tonsillectomy recovery was exponentially worse.) My husband and I have been patients of Dr Nasseri for over 13 years. When nobody could figure out why I had a sinus infection for over six months after seeing three other ENT's Shawn methodically figured out my issue and implemented a plan. I am happy to say I no longer get recurrent sinus infections, but I do miss seeing Dr Nasseri every week. But that story doesn't compare to the past 2 weeks. Our daughter is a recording artist and was set to open for Sam Smith on his first West Coast tour - she ended up with Laryngitis caused from profuse, chronic bloody nose that began three days before the opening show. I went to this doctor on the recommendation of a friend who raved about him. After 45 minutes of waiting with no apology from the staff for the delay, I left without seeing the famed Dr. Nasseri. During my time there, he came out and joked with his staff in the front office which is right off the waiting room in this small office. They were so unprofessional and loud about personal issues that don't belong in a doctor's office. If you don't mind an office that has no respect for your time then maybe he'll be right for you. Dr Nasseri was recommended to me for my vocal cords issues so i coughed up the non network first visit high price, hoping. After many visits, scans and money sucking tests and about 6 months later, nothing has changed. The Dr is always late- wait time is normally over 40 min. He is chatty and lets his patients wait while he chats- which i find very disrespectful and arrogant. If you are not a music celeb most likely you'll wait longer. He surrounds himself with walls of cds of his music patients as if he was the one who won these awards. He made me do scans, shoved a cam in my throat, put me on 3 doses of antibiotics and anti acids and even stereoids which litterally lead to nothing. My last visit i again had to wait while he chatted and even though i was the first patient after lunch, he chose to start with another patient - prob a celeb. I was upset and left- never going back. I think he may have forgotten how to be a good doctor and take care of people- rather its all about him and greed. read more
