I have seen all of his videos I live in San Diego I have a thyroid disease and unfortunately he does not take Medicare! Even though I have a supplemental Blue shield... That's so sad because it does not give us older people the flexibility to find the best doctor, and for me I felt he would have been the best even though I had to travel to Los Angeles it would have been well worth it! From our first video consult, Dr. Larian invited confidence and trust. Now that my surgery is over, I can't recommend him highly enough. I went to Dr. Larian initially for Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA), thinking that would be my best treatment option. I had two large thyroid nodules that were (a) causing symptoms and (b) growing. Decision time. Dr. Larian gave me two options: RFA and nodulectomy, a minimally invasive procedure that offered a more definitive solution, while allowing us to preserve nearly all of the thryroid lobe. Bingo! Just to be safe, I sought out a second opinion with a surgeon closer to home. That surgeon told me why RFA and nodulectomy wouldn't work, and said my only option was to remove half the thyroid. But my thyroid was healthy. I thanked him and left. As soon as I got home, I set up a second consult with Dr. Larian, and that sealed the deal. The same warmth, caring and competence I had experienced on our first video call came through from the start on our second call. Throughout this process, I felt well cared for. Dr. Larian takes time to explain and educate. And just as he said, my recovery time was quick. After general anesthesia, a rather delicate surgery and a good long stretch in recovery, I stayed locally one night and drove home the next morning. I couldn't believe how good I felt. Dr. Larian is truly the most incredible and honest Doctor I have ever met. My son had an accident at the gym and was told by two different doctors that he needs a closed reduction surgery for his nose. It would have been a surgery with hard recovery and financially very expensive. It was a very time sensitive surgery and had to be done within 10 days of the accident. A few months ago I was diagnosed with a parotid tumor. After meeting several experts who perform parotidectomies, I met with Dr. Larian. He was different than every one else I met. I think about Dr. Larian a lot, actually, I had surgery more than 10 years ago and he changed my life. I suffered for 20 years and no doctor anywhere could help me. I went to one of the most well known medical centers in the world and they couldn't help me. I had swelling of both parotid glands off and on every day, especially when I would eat.. It was painful at times and very disfiguring. It affected my social life so terribly. I would NEVER eat in front of anyone. Nobody could figure out why it was happening. Dr. Larian's offices are as impressive as he is. Everything is state of the art from start to finish. Front Desk - Excellent and Highly efficient. I went to see Dr. Larian today as I have been experiencing dizziness. I was so impressed with the entire process. The front office staff was lovely and able to squeeze me in on short notice. This is a thank you to a physician who deserves to be recognized. My 90+ year old grandmother had come to me for a check up, cleaning and a new lower denture. A dentist myself, I examined her and noticed a suspicious area in her lower left. It was enough to concern me so after finishing her dental work that day I sent her for a biopsy of the area to see what's going on. A week later a lab report and the phone call I was dreading came through. The diagnosis was squamous cell carcinoma in the mouth. I know this is an aggressive form of cancer and I was concerned. The oral and Maxillofacial surgeon referred me to Dr. Larian. From the minute our family met him we were just overwhelmed with his care and attention. He explained the process to the entire family and most importantly to us, he moved promptly. Right on time I received a call from Megan; she was very helpful in answering all my questions. Obviously Dr. Larian's staff is very well organized and enjoy what they do. After being turned down by numerous ENT docs to review my CT scans to determine why I could not catch my breath, Dr. Larian not only reviewed them but came up with a game plan. He told me that my airway has scar tissue that keeps growing causing my airway to get blocked. This is a side-effect from the numerous intubations I have had. It was such a relief to finally have an answer on why just walking up a few steps or talking too long, I would lose my breath and my voice. He also was able to determine after an examination that my vocal cords were damaged. Totally sucks but totally exciting that I had answer to all these issues. Dr. Larian was upfront that it would not be a quick cure and laid out his plan of action. He was honest and took into account my other medical issues: heart transplant and an aortic dissector/EDS patient. He willing works with my other doctors to make sure everyone is on the same page. His office team is efficient, friendly and willing to go the distance to assist me. I live in Hawaii and need to plan ahead to fly to LA for my surgeries in removing scar tissue. Dr. Babak Larian and his team are the most professional and competent diagnosticians and surgeons, they are phenomena. As a health care provider myself I was very picky and chose to go and meet with several ENT and plastic sergeants, and now I can tell that I had made the best decision in my life by choosing Dr. Babak and Dr. Azizzadeh. I had parotid gland tumor for over a year, after doing the MRI Dr. Babak recommended needle aspiration biopsy which was performed painless after spending 30 minutes with Him. This can tell a lot about the 30 minutes we spent together, explaining my situation, giving me all the needed time, making me feel very comfortable and confident that I want him to do the surgery. After 48 hours from the biopsy he called me personally to tell its benign one, so afterwords we started to be prepared for the procedure. We met one week prior to the procedure and he explained the incision type, recovery period, what to expect and how long the procedure will take. He had such a positive influence on me by taking away all the fear and doubts regarding injuring the facial nerve and how he and his team will monitor the nerve and the branches during the 5 hour procedure. I had my surgery on Sept 10 th, before the procedure he came just to say everything will be ok, by that time I was kind of nervous so I looked into his eyes and told that I trust him and that's why I chose him, he just promised with confident that everything will be just fine! And he had his words by all mean. Surgery was performed at La Peer Health Systems, very nice, clean, organized and beyond any expectations out patient surgical center. The minute I woke up from the general anesthesia I was able to smile normally, shake my shoulders, move my neck, and blinking my eyes just like before the procedure. I went home the same day, with minimum pain, and never had the feeling that I just went out of a surgery. He called me that night to check on me, which gave me a feeling of how much he care about patients. What amaze me that Dr. Babak was very accurate and right with every single word he said about the procedure and the recovery period. So it was a package of successful patient , Dr. Relationship and care starting from his awesome office financial coordinators specially Shelly ! Only 4 days after my surgery I looked and felt fully functional. Exactly 7 days after surgery I'm back at the office as if nothing had happened at all. I traveled from DC to LA for my surgery. So... I have had multiple nose surgeries b/c I broke my nose in basketball games. I went to 3 different doctors, performed 3 different surgeries and NONE of them corrected my breathing nor the deviation of my septum.... well UNTIL Dr. Larian. His office is very nice and clean. They even offer water, coffee, and treats while you wait. I walked into his office and his receptionists were so friendly and helpful. They really try to accomodate you - appointments, medicine, surgery, etc. You know how most doctors try to rush through patients? Dr. Larian doesn't, he takes the time to tell you what's wrong (in detail), suggests options, and then asks if you have any questions. He is great, not to mention down to earth, not like most grumpy doctors. He even called and texted after my surgery to make sure I was recovering properly. After going to five other renown surgeons in the field, who insisted that an "S type", old fashioned face lift cut (very long), was the only way to remove a mass from my parotid gland, sitting on my facial nerve, I am relieved to say that I went with the wonderful Dr. Larian. Not only was the entire experience with his staff and nurses, outstanding- every doctor should have a Ms Shelley, but the level of care and expertise the doctor exhibited was exemplary. I will be posting before and after pictures shortly to demonstrate just how skillful this surgeon is. He is a specialist. The cut that he made was tiny and discreet around my ear. I have absolutely no scar visible. None. I am talking perfection. I have artificial tissue filling in the hole that was left after excising the mass that was expertly placed-also seamless. He was so gentle, I didn't even take an Advil. Amazingly, Two months after the surgery, feeling returned to my ear and below my jaw, which I fully expected would not happen for a year, if ever. I had been so worried that movement might be affected in my face. It has not been. The doctor was patient, compassionate and tactful delivering the not such great news about the mass being a rare kind of carcinoma. Dr. Larian and his staff are the epitome of professional. Obviously his education and professional positions are impressive, but his personal style and "bedside manner" are what makes him special. Dr Larian is an amazing practitioner and I highly recommend him. I saw him the same day I called for an appointment, as the office staff was understanding, kind and helpful, and they fit me in right away. Dr Larian took the time to really listen to my health history and come up with my diagnosis, after I have been suffering in pain for months. I have seen several doctors who brushed it off or were too busy to follow up, but he really paid attention to the small details and focused on my symptoms. In the end, he used helpful animated videos to visually explain what was happening in my throat. The staff has fantastic follow up and I finally feel like I have a proper diagnosis.
