The nurses are super quick and nice when I get my allergy shots. The front staff are super nice and they assist you with making appointments. They always ask you how your last shots were. For allergy shots, you can switch arms with your shots.. ive had on my left arm vials 1 and 3, but I've asked to swap because I wanted to have less reactions with my shots. They said no problem. All I have to do is ask. The only hard part is trying to call and get assistance over the phone. read more

Had some health issues and wanted to eliminate any ideas of allergies affecting me. Got my allergy test for foods on my back, which 77 pokes. Very helpful to see which foods I am allergic to, whether it is light, moderate or strong. Doctor suggested me to take an allergy medicine and it helped me so much with my skin issues! Going to do the environmental 77 test next. Dr. Farman is very enthusiastic and great with kids I imagine. Place is clean and nurses are very sweet. read more

Took my nephew to this office and they refused to check him for asthma and allergies because the 4 year old was not vaccinated for COVID. Forcing people to choose between their child's health and a controversial and unsubstantiated prophylactic medication to reduce symptoms (COVID Vaccine) is in my opinion malpractice. Especially from a so called vaccine that you can still get the virus, transmit the virus and possibly die from the virus. I am sure that if my nephew got the vaccine and had adverse reactions to or died from it this doctor would hold no responsibility or even care. Very sad when medical professionals choose to put fear over treatment. read more

My daughter was seen today at 3:15, when we left before 4pm, I was told a prescription was going to be sent to my pharmacy. I called the pharmacy at 4:45 they hadn't yet received the prescription. The pharmacy called the office, spoke to the receptionist, pharmacy was told they would be receiving the prescription although they were closing at soon.. I also sent a text to the office asking when it was going to be sent. They stated the Dr stayed late and would send it in. Here it is, 10:20 pm and it hasn't been sent. I guess questioning the receptionist wasn't what they wanted. Well looks like i may be looking to the state for guidance due to the delay or neglect of treatment since everyone must have been in a hurry to go home rather than send my daughters prescription to the pharmacy. But you can be sure the bill will be sent out extremely quick! Me nor my daughter deserve this type of treatment. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied! My daughter is already suffering and uncomfortable. But now since it's Friday, she will have to suffer longer!! Extremely unprofessional!!! read more

I was denied because I had Medi-Medi (Medi-Cal and Medicare Part A & B). The receptionist said because I had Medi-Cal, it was illegal for them to take me even if they only charged the Medicare portion. When I asked if I could still be seen if I had a Medicare Plan like a PPO instead of the original Medicare only and be billed for the Medicare PPO plan, I was told I wouldn't be accepted because of my Medi-Cal. Frustrating because the receptionist kept correcting me by saying my insurance was Medi-Cal and not Medicare. Blatant disability discrimination because Medicare is not just for elderly disabled but also other disabilities where the disabled person doesn't look disabled just for being "young." The receptionist made it clear she didn't believe I had Medicare at all even though all she had to do to verify legitimacy is call Medicare and giving my Medicare number for Medicare to look up. I was promised also that my card wouldn't be charged because I didn't have one for the appointment yet the receptionist clearly didn't bring up the online intake form requiring a credit card be given. The online intake form also did not give a message saying my insurance was not covered and I booked the appointment more than a month ahead. I actually got both phone calls and systems automated messages reminding me of it yet the office staff clearly did not review my intake form prior to letting me come in. read more

My 2.5 yr old son has been struggling with eczema flair ups for months, and both his primary and dermatologist were somewhat dismissive and just prescribed steroids. I decided to visit Dr Farman's office, and I'm so glad that I did. His staff is friendly and caring, and Dr Farnam took the time to actually ask questions to help get to the source of the flair ups. He was very positive, encouraging and knowledgeable. We did food and environmental skin tests a week apart, and after eliminating the ones that came back positive, we've seen a huge improvement. Very caring doctor. Spotless office, efficient processes. Finally my new insurance covers my visits here and I'm probably going to start allergy shots. I've had so many sinus and allergy issues and this is the first time that I've been treated with thoroughness, effectiveness, and continuity of care. Dr. Farnam really makes sure that problems are addressed even when the solution isn't so simple. Not necessary, but I also feel his compassion and attention to patients. I took my daughter in to see Dr. Farnam for an allergy test yesterday. Her pediatrician had been wanting her to get this done for a few years and Dr. Farnam came highly recommended. We parked in the lot since our appointment would be somewhat long due to the allergy testing and it was only $10, which isn't terrible. There is no parking attendant there, only a kiosk to pay before you leave that takes cash and cards. Upon arriving, the front desk staff is kind and courteous, the practice is on the second floor and we took the stairs, which was easy. They ask to put a card on file, ask for your insurance card and ID. We arrived early and we were taken in before our appointment time, which was great. I thought the nurse was awesome, she asked lots of questions and got pharmacy info. Before they do any testing they come in with a cost estimate depending on your insurance, which I really appreciated. Dr. Farnam is incredibly thorough. He asks all the questions before he does anything and he checked vitals and inside the nose. He agreed that a skin test would be best to try to find out what was going on. The tech that administered the allergens for the skin test was fantastic and kind. She tested my daughter for 77 different allergens and the test revealed that she is moderately allergic to pollen and California oak trees. Once the test was over she applied some hydrocortisone cream to the affected area and wiped down the numbers on her back. Dr. Farnam returned to give us a course of action to help alleviate her allergy symptoms and we scheduled a follow up appointment for a few months from now to see how she's doing. Overall, the appointment in its entirety lasted about an hour and a half, and on the website it says their new patient appointments typically last about two hours so it was nice to feel like we were in and out of there. Everyone inside this office is super nice and happy to accommodate. I'm very glad her pediatrician recommended Dr. Farnam and his office. Just some info from their website regarding parking: there is paid parking in the lot next to the building and there's also street parking with time limits. read more

People, check the expiration dates on the allergy shots! I went to dr Farnam to get help with my numerous and aggressive allergies, and he recommended immunotherapy with allergy shots. I had a great experience with the clinic until I moved out of state and got my vials from this clinic so I could continue at my new clinic in AZ. That's when I found out that: -One of the 4 yellow vials had an expiration date that had been covered and replaced with another one, at a later date, but I didn't take pictures of that. -At least two of the expiration dates on the red vials had been covered as well, and again to make it look like the expiration date was farther away than it really was. Even the expiration year was changed to 2020 when in fact they expired in 2019. If I had stayed in California I would have never seen the actual vials myself. Dr Farnam sent me a new set of vials after I complained but that doesn't fix things. Was I going to get shots taken from expired vial mixes? And was ever I given expired shots before? I was shocked and concerned. So ambiguous. On top of it, every time I would get shots I was always in big pain for days after, didn't feel any better. When I went back to my country (Italy) I had my allergy doctor see me there and he was beyond shocked that I was being given SO MANY shots with so many allergens. My body simply couldn't catch up. He recommended that I stopped and just did medical therapy (antihistamine, inhalers, nose spray) and I've been so much better off since I stopped getting shots. I will eventually resume the immunotherapy but it won't be with dr Farnam and it won't be with so many vials at the time. read more

Today was my first visit to this practice and I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised. Dr. Farnam was very professional, pleasant and really listened to all of my concerns. I ended up having a skin test done today which was fantastic as I was able to know what I'm allergic to without having to wait weeks for results. I'm about to enter my third year of shots, partly because I'm too far in to quit right now. I probably would've given the practice 5 stars during my first six months. My allergies got better, and even by the end of the first year, despite several instances of severe allergies still, I felt like things had improved overall. When renewing my shots for the 2nd year, though, I asked why I was still having severe cases, and the PA didn't really have a good answer. Worse, the skin test showed I was even more allergic than when I first started. Still, things had improved to the point where I felt it made sense to continue. Year 2 wasn't as good as the first year. I had about twice as many instances of severe allergies. After the first several, I tried to get an appointment with Dr. Farnam and was told I had to see the PA. Fine - I saw her and she recommended increasing the frequency of shots. I pretty much followed that new treatment plan until near the end of my 2nd year's shots regimen, but things hadn't improved at all. I called again to see if I could see Dr. Farnam, since I had to decide whether or not to renew my shots and I wanted to his HIS opinion, not his PA's, since he was the doctor. I was told that I'd have to wait 3-4 months to get on his schedule. My jaw dropped, and I half-jokingly/half-seriously asked if he doesn't see patients anymore. It turns out that Dr. Farnam is way more available for new patients (as evident later on when I was in the office and overheard a phone conversation between one of the receptionists and a new patient trying to make a consultation appointment). I told the receptionist about the timeline I was working with, and if he wasn't available to see me, then I would just stop doing the shots. Lo and behold, he was able to find the time once he thought a patient might not pay to continue. It took a couple of days for the consent agreement to come, and I signed it quickly. I was told it would take a couple of weeks to mix the new vials, and after then, I could schedule appointments again. The two weeks passed and there was no update. I emailed the practice and was told "soon." Another two weeks passed, and despite two emails and one voicemail requesting an update, no one got back to me. I finally got a hold of the office again and asked what the delay was. It turned out Dr. Farnam still hadn't ordered the new vials. It was now more than a month from when I signed the agreement to continue. And yet, despite his patient saying he was still suffering from severe allergies and agreeing to follow his proposed follow-up plan, he didn't feel it necessary to move the process along to actually mix the vials for treatment. I had had it by then. I told the office manager that if the vials weren't ordered that day, I would cancel the treatment altogether. Again, once his income was threatened, Dr. Farnam finally took action. I got a call back an hour later saying that the vials were ready for immediate injection. [If you're keeping track, they went from "we still need to order" to "it's here!" in a span of an hour.] I am going to follow through on the treatment plan because I've expended too much effort now to just drop it. Also, getting the shots going forward will not require anything from Dr. Farnam himself, so it's less likely things will be held up for no good reason. That said, I definitely do not recommend this practice to anyone. The doctor dedicates the majority of his time selling people on treatment, but once you're a patient, forget about getting time with him. The practice makes heavy use of technology, and normally I'm fine with it (after all, I'd rather make my appointments online vs. calling in) but I've now realized that the reliance on tech reflects the lack of human touch with this practice. read more

Just wanted to follow up here and provide an update. After feeling like we needed a second opinion, we had my son retested with another allergist. Much to our surprise, he tested negative on all three of the allergens that Dr. Farnams test indicated were positive. Our current allergist said this is not the first time they have seen false positive results from Dr. Farnam. We did an in office food challenge with our new allergist and thankfully our son passed with flying colors and is not allergic to eggs. The office is very easy to get ahold of when needed and also fairly quick to schedule follow up appointments, unlike some places that you could be waiting weeks to months. All the staff are very kind and seem eager to help and the doctor himself is exceptionally knowledgeable when it comes to allergies. The office is clean and organized and parking is pretty easy. We took my son here years ago because of his sever sesame allergy. They subscribed an epipen and once that expired, we called to get a refill. Due to their policy, they required that we pay and get a check up so they can request a prescription. My son still needs his epipen and nothing has changed. It is an unfair policy put in place to ensure they get paid in every opportunity. read more

I came in with no heath insurance and I believe I was given poor care because of it. I was rushed back, given no paperwork to sign or fill out regarding my medical history, and not even a consent to treat paper or anything. No one did my vitals or ask what medications I'm on or even if I smoke. The doctor came in, lectured me about not having insurance said "I'll be right back" and the nurse came in with a prescription. I let her know I didnt even have my vitals and no one asked about my medications or medical history. She seemed mortified and said she'd be right back. The doctor then comes in with two nurses and asked me "why are you lying about you care". This was a few months ago and the fact that a doctor called me a liar like is still upsetting me. I am also not paraphrasing he word for word called me a liar. I had to ask the doctor to let me speak (he wouldn't) and I had to talk over him to ask the nurse if no vitals and no medical history is normal and if other patients are treated this way, she said no. If anything I actually want to say thank you, that doctor is awful and I still felt like they stood up for me, I couldn't say more positive things about the nurses. They end up giving me half off and redoing my appointment. The doctor kept repeating that he doesn't have to know my medical history to provide anything after the nurses left and after I gave a little push back he was like "what are you still not happy" he prescribed me two inhalers and actually offered me a free 15 min over the phone appointment. The phone call went much better, I'm not sure if that day he was having a bad day or what but after spending $400 (then refunded $200) to go to a doctors office and spoken to that way I left in tears just absolutely defeated. I am so lucky and thankful his nursing team is so great. The inhalers he prescribed worked okay, but I was still struggling. I went to another doctor and he immediately clocked my symptoms as mold exposure, the mold was removed from my apartment and now I'm symptom free. I actually have been debating on posting this for months because he has phone number and I really don't ever want to be contacted again but I also don't want someone to waste a couple hundred dollars and be treated like this. read more

I relied on Dr. Farnam's great reviews here but my experience was terrible. Prior to my appointment, I called for and received an estimate for allergy testing and a breathing study. During my first appointment for trouble breathing and coughing (confirmed later by allergy tests as due to dander and mold allergies), Dr. Farnam also noted that I had acid reflux partially caused by my stressful life. However, we did not talk about my stress levels so it felt like this was a standard diagnosis and he was going through the motions. A breathing test was performed by some techs, and at the end of the appointment, I was told that my credit card was going to be charged for the amount estimated over the phone. I tried to make my next appointment and was told that Dr. Farnam would not be available until two months later. Basically, it's easy to get an initial appointment but once in, a patient will be seeing physician assistants. I later received a notice that my credit card was going to be charged for over $100 for the breathing study, which was supposedly included in the estimate. After some discussions with the office, I told them to go ahead and charge it since it appeared to be a quoting mistake by reception. At my next appointment, my prescription for a daily 3-in-1 asthma inhaler was not changed. I also underwent a second breathing test. Afterwards, I saw a pulmonologist who said that both breathing tests performed at Dr. Farnam's office were incorrectly done and he could not rely on them. Based on new testing, he also recommended that I take two types of over the counter nasal sprays instead of a daily asthma inhaler, which he thought was overkill. I went to another allergist to start allergy shots and he independently said that the breathing tests were incorrectly done. And although I paid the total outstanding balance for my services with Dr. Farnam months before, I received another notice today that I owe money from an appointment in August (four months prior). At this point, I have wasted hundreds of dollars on unreliable testing and a prescription that, yes, treated my symptoms, but without any effort to figure out whether less or alternative medication would also work. Based on my experience, this is a practice that focuses on getting patients in the door and less on actual patient treatment and well-being. read more

If I can give this place 6 stars, I totally would. There was some miscommunication in the past in regards to the billing and my insurance coverage, but that end up totally being my fault after looking at the policy more carefully. The doctor was willing to work with me on figuring it out - which was really nice of them. The office is very transparent in regards to the total amount billed and what they are billing you for. They also emailed you to inform you that there is a balance on the account before they charged your card on file now - gives u the opportunity to clear any misunderstandings if any with ur insurance company. I have been recommending this place to all my friends that have been asking about allergist and allergy shots. read more

The patient is a 6-year old child. On our first visit, we came to get tested for food allergies and got environmental test instead. Care quality was average. They asked us to schedule a new appointment to get the food test done, and so we did. Driving from Northridge to Pasadena through a heavy traffic due to an accident our navigation showed we were late by17 minutes. I called the office multiple times from the road and no one picked up the phone. I sent a text message and finally Jennifer at the front desk called me back. She said if we are more than 15 minutes late, they won't accept us. I asked to make an exception and give us an extra 2 minutes. She said no and didn't allow me to speak to Dr Farnam. She was uncooperative and unaccommodating. Understand that per policy the patient can be late 15 minutes but we called in advance and I can't understand how an extra 2 minutes could be a deal breaker? I gave her the heads up about this 1-star review and she didn't care about the Dr's rating. read more

I feel so bad that it took me this long to write a review for Dr. Farnham and his staff. Truth is I completely forgot. I first came to see him because I had a horrible cough that wouldn't stop. It lasted about 6 months. I was miserable. My asthma was horrible as well. Has an allergy test done. Nothing major. Mainly my asthma and cough were the worst. Dr. Farnam was very understanding and worked with changing my prescriptions until I was able to get better. My asthma for most part has been controlled but since last Friedan it's been very bad. I called the office today and was scheduled for a virtual appointment for Thursday. Since it's so bad he was nice enough to call in a prescription into my pharmacy. The receptionist who helped me was very understanding and very sweet. Something you don't always get in medical offices these days. I truly am happy I found this office. read more

We had been there for over a year for my son's allergies and he is doing a great service, providing and explaining to my son his condition and we have move forward with his action plan that has improved. This review is about my first time visit and about his staff. The staff does not follow through when they say they will. The Dr had prescribed me a medicine for my allergies. I went to the pharmacy and they said the order had not came through yet. They told me to wait a day or so. I had a back and forth with the pharmacy for a couple of days thinking it was them who fell back on my prescription. So I called the Dr's office and they said they would follow through. They did not. More wasted time with the back and forth with the pharmacy. I called the office a second time and again the same story "they will follow through" and again they did not. More wasted time. I had to go into the office to get it done or so I thought. When I went to the pharmacy it was the wrong prescription! This staff wasted a lot of my time that I can not get back and what angers me the most is that had they followed through during that time my allergies could have been controlled and I would not have suffered with the horrible headaches, dry eyes, congestion that come with my allergies. The Dr is a sweetheart and he is good however he is running back and forth between patients trying to fit everyone in. He did not get some of my details correct because I believe he is extemely busy and overbooked to the max. And please, spare me the "reaching out" after a bad review "We apologize how can we make it up" speech. I am not interested. You can not give me back the time you caused me to waste. read more

Great compassionate doctor. His office has the state of the art asthma evaluation machines. His allergy tests are more thorough than my other doctor that I had previously before finding Dr. Farnam. He gives his patient a summary of each visit to take home so you always have something available to review regarding your visit and go to re what the doctor ordered or said. His office also offers allergy shots and they will check in advance for you if your insurance will cover. I haven't tried the shots yet. But will consider. I highly recommend this doctor. read more

Wish I'd read the more recent reviews prior to going. I took my son in for allergy testing - he's had mild to moderate issues most of his young life (rhinitis, some eczema). It was super easy to get an appointment as a new patient, and the office is spotless. Two stars for that! Sadly, the positives end there. The patch test was the most aggressive we've experienced and the doctor wasn't even present for it; he also didn't come in to review results. Instead I was simply emailed a docusign to start allergy shots ... which ... we never consented to? Didn't even really want? We returned to our old allergist who was appalled and I'm pleased to report my son is doing GREAT with some minimal interventions. It really feels like the office is hellbent on immunotherapy (which is fine, if that's what's truly needed) and I wish they'd actually presented us with some options before jumping to the most intense option. Kevin Farnam has provided excellent medical care for my child since he was 3 years old. He struggled with severe asthma which was immediately managed once on Dr Farnam's recommended action plan. My son is now able to plays sports, go to school without me worrying and on call for asthma attack, and go camping and traveling. I appreciate Dr Farnam'genuine caring and willingness to take the time to discuss my son's care at every single visit we have had. I've honestly had a much better experience and results managing my son's asthma with Dr Farnam than at CHLA, no disrespect intended. We get one on one time to talk, the right action plan and quite frankly a much smaller bill at the end of the month. Have been coming here for more than two years for allergy shots.Staff are very professional and nice. The new office is lovely. If you haven't been here before, it's still on the first floor of the Madison building, just around the corner. I have a general irritation with medical office buildings always charging for parking (especially in suburbs!), but this isn't Dr. Farnam or his staff's fault. They do validate for thirty minutes, and most of the time I'm able to find street parking. read more

Dr.Farnam is knowledgeable about allergies and asthma. He is well informed about allergens that affects me and suggested preventive care. I've noticed significant improvement after the first visit. First visit with Dr. Farnam he listened to all the symptoms I have and came to a conclusion that the air quality is bad that's why why I feel tired because I'm probably not getting enough oxygen when I sleep. Next did the allergy skin prick test on the back to see what I'm allergic to. He suggested minor changes in my home. Also suggested allergy shots to build immunity to allergens. I am on my second set of shots and I think there are minor improvements. I will update more about this when I'm progressing with treatments read more

The staff at his "new" office is excellent. They are quick and always so personable and friendly. If you take regular allergy shots, you'll usually interact more with the staff, so I think it's really important to have people who are competent and do a great job in making sure you're well taken care of. I also recently had my yearly check-in with Dr. Farnman and as always, he was very personable and explained everything in detail and I never felt rushed when he was speaking with me, which can be sometimes the case with other doctors. I highly recommend Dr. Farnam and I don't think you'll be disappointed going to this practice. read more
