A root canal is not necessarily the first experience one wants with a new dentist. But, that is what happened when I went to Dr. Healey for a toothache. First, his office is very professional and clean. His staff is helpful and kind - this is truly a"no judgment" zone! Dr. Healey took the time to examine my issue and give me the options. I had went to dr Healey to look at a wisdom tooth that needed to come out. Long story short they didn't want to help me because I didn't have dental insurance. Then they proceeded to bill me like they had taken X-rays which they never had. Then my son needed a cavity filled he is 5. So he was afraid of needles and drills which I explained to them. He made the dr stop a few times because he was crying scared. Which dr. Healey seemed annoyed. The last strike is the front desk lady, we called her to ask about the charges she talks over you. In my 15 years in customer service she is terrible at her job. She was rude, condescending and unapologetic. My family will never step foot in there again. read more

I saw Dr. Matthew Healey about 1.5 years ago. At that time i had a small black dot on a tooth and hurt when i took a bite. He said it was necessary for me to get a crown. Given it would cost me over $1000 I did not have it done because i have not been able to afford it. Today I went to visit Dr. Miller at super smiles in Burlington ready to pay up. Come to find out that i never needed a crown and a filling was a good solution for my situation. Which my insurance would pay for! then speaking to my mom about my issue, she too had gone to see Dr. Healey. He too told her she needed the same thing for the same issue. She decided to get a second opinion. New dentist explained she did not need a crown either!!!!! Dr. Healey in my opinion wants to take advantage of people and claim that money. Would never recommend anyone to go there. I wonder how many other people have been taken advantage of. His practice is shady. read more

My experience at the dentist's office itself was never bad - staff was friendly, the dentist was like any other dentist and my teeth cleanings were typical. They have TVs in the cleaning rooms which was pretty cool. My only complaint at that time, was that the dentist didn't remember that I got my wisdom teeth out. It's not that hard to check my records beforehand, but whatever. It was only when I needed to switch practices that I got really annoyed with the service, and this is what caused the 2-star review. I had to call 3 times to get them to mail me a release form for my records to be sent to my dentist. The first time, they said no problem they could mail it, said the same thing the second time, and I never received it in the mail. The third time I called, they said they could not mail the form, because I need to come in and pay a fee for my records. Overall, receptionists were rude and didn't understand what was going on. They're friendly to patients, but don't care about you anymore once you're not a client. And they make you pay a fee for any copies of your records at any time. read more

I had an absess and was sent away with an infection by Pioneer dental at treble cove because i didnt have the 3000 up front that it wouldve cost to do the work and was in too much pain to make a decision. Because i wouldn't make the decision they REFUSED TO GIVE ME AMOXICILLIN FOR THE INFECTION. Scared and crying I called dr. Healeyand he not only took me in the same day ,but 10 min after i called i was in the chair. He gave me the anti biotic i needed and his assistant called the specialist with me to help make an appointment for the tooth i needed fixed. I wish that I could give him lower. He was recommended by a work friend and so I called and made an appointment. He told me that I needed a root canal and recommended a place to do it. After they drilled out my nerve they told me that I probably didn't need one but now that it was started they had to finish. I should go back to Dr. Healey to have the crown done. Alright, honest mistake, it happens. I called to schedule an appointment for the crown and asked how much it would be. I was quoted about $2200 and I only had $300 left for insurance for the year, which I thought was pretty low, so I asked them to call the insurance company to be sure. They wouldn't call and assured me that I only had $300 left that insurance would cover. This raised the red flags so I called my insurance company. Seems that he didn't have any sort of insurance agreement. They said that they've seen this before where the office doesn't accept your insurance but they will overcharge you and take off an "insurance payment". I called around and a crown will only cost $1000 and insurance will cover most of this. WATCH OUT THESE PEOPLE WILL SCAM YOU read more

A few months back I came in for a cleaning as a new patient and I am extremely happy with this practice. Last year I had received 2 root canals with my prior dentist, and they told me I had a "ton of more work" done on several cavities. I moved to Billerica about 6 months ago, and figured I should try a closer place to my home, considering all the work that needed to be done. Low and behold, they told me that I've been taking good care of my teeth, and gave me some pointers on flossing. Not only this, but when I asked if I needed more work, they said absolutely not. I am shocked at the reviews. I moved here and previously had a wonderful dentist. The first place I went to in Billerica had a dentist that was very condescending. I asked around and it was suggested I try Dr. Healey. My kids and I had no issues. We have had cleanings, x rays and even veneers. The office staff charged me far less than other locations and Dr Healy worked very hard on the teeth until they looked perfect. You could never tell that they are veneers. The front desk staff is always nice to us. By the sound of the other reviews it sounds like you get what you give off in attitude. Really, complaining about what someone actually care about what your kids watch? Calling the staff moronic. Not knowing if someone got their wisdom teeth out. Petty Petty Petty I have never seen pettiness on reviews and it distorts the reviews for everyone else. Be leary of reviewers who have all negative one star reviews. This dentist is not worthy of the one star I have to give him. I have a permanent nerve injury as a result from a Lidocaine injection for a simple filling in 2011."Dr." Healey insisted that he may have used too much Lidocaine saying that is why I was feeling numb 24 hours after the procedure and ignored my symptoms of an obvious injury. Needless to say, I was able to get a diagnosis of a lingual nerve injury and myofascial neuralgia from specialists at Tufts. After this dentist was notified of my report of an injury, he had the nerve for a lack of a better word to ask when my fiance would be back in for another appointment!!!!!! After 7 years of living with horrible pain and having to wear scarves anywhere I am because the slightest gust of wind may start an attack, I still suffer daily. I plan on notifying the A.D.A about this dentist and his neglect. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST TO ANYONE!!!! ALL ABOUT MAKING MONEY AND BOOKING UNNECESSARY APPOINTMENTS!!!!!!!! My 7 year old son had an unusual amount of anxiety when we arrived at Dr. Healy's office. I was able to coax him into the office but I could tell he was just afraid. I couldn't understand it because he has been going to the dentist for the last 6 years. I tried everything a mother could do. Struggling with "do I just say forget it and come back another time" or "take something away from him until he goes through with getting his teeth cleaned". To make a long story short, once he sat in the room my daughter was in and saw the way the dental hygienist was talking to her and how gentle she was he said "mommy, I'll have my teeth cleaned if I she does it". And of course I felt terrible going to the front desk to request a switch with the hygienist, but they were wonderful!! The hygienist he wanted didn't have him scheduled but she stayed and did his teeth for him. He even let her do the pictures! When we were finished they gave me some tips on the best time to come in (not the witching hour of 3pm!) and how to approach the anxiety. The hygienist even said that she will make sure she is there when he comes back for his next cleaning! They are wonderful, and I would recommend them every time. We are very, very happy we changed dentists!!!! read more

Longtime patient of Dr. Healey, brought my 12 year old in for 2 teeth extractions. Staff was great, answering several questions in phone calls before the appointment and prompt and compassionate on the day of the visit. Quick visit, easy procedure and left with all appropriate instructions and extra gauze for bleeding. I really think the staff and Dr. Healey do a great job with both adults and children. read more

I can't say enough positive things about this place! They are in the same plaza as Walgrees & O'Connor Hardware, so there is plenty of parking. Very clean, professional, friendly, and personable. I have had a fear of making/ going to dental appointments due to a bad experience I had as a child in the same town. This place practices sedation dentistry and are great about making you comfortable and getting you in for emergency appointments when needed (I broke a tooth on a Friday night after closing and they were able to fix it the next morning when I was in the area, even offering to reopen the office that same night for me!). I recommend this place to everyone. I'm not ashamed of my teeth like I have been in the past after leaving different offices that scold and are less than friendly/ understanding. They all assist you with financing options and third parties if needed. My oral health and smile have improved along with my confidence when I smile and I owe that to this place.
