The forlorn pot roast Sammy on a too big plate with just a hint of coleslaw to make it seem even more fororn.

Graduation vibes were in the air and what better way to recognize that than some mussels? They swam in a delicious broth and had a nice loaf of bread. My dining companion's Beaumont was nicely layered and a good next step. The pot roast sandwich was equally as tasty but a bit forlorn when placed on a large plate along with the tres petite coleslaw side that was a substitute for fries. The waitress was delightful and the perfect complement to a lazy day afternoon nosh. And did I mention the elderberry drink of the day? Fantastic!!!

Enjoyed myself so much I had to run it back twice lol I love this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not only is it beautiful inside and on the outside, the service is great and the food is delicious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I needed up visiting twice in one weekend on two different occasions, and I'm not ashamed about it lol I haven't had anything that I didn't like so far . I love their salmon , mash and asparagus. The " Beaumont" is my fav dish. They are very well accommodating if you need adjustments to your food and the veggies are always fresh! The wings were a fan favorite amongst the table. The turkey club and the Greek salad which had shrimp and crab in it were superb. I can't wait to go back definitely a top tier recommendation to anyone who enjoys quality food and service with a beautiful ambiance.

I want to start this off by saying that as many times as we have dined at Matthews1600, I was ever so happy that I selected them as a place to have my 45th high school reunion! I went with a buffet as I knew people would be straggling in from many places. Everything was top notch. Todd Thomas and his staff were absolutely fantastic! I only had a few requests and they were all met with no issues whatsoever! [[HIGHLIGHT]]My classmates were so impressed with the venue, everything was so nice, I got many comments on how well everything was put together and fresh.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will definitely remember Matthews in the future for any parties that I plan. The meals were very reasonable and the area of our reunion was just fantastic! Thanks again for making the reunion a success!

We've been coming to Matthew's for many years, sometimes weekly for trivia night. Food and service has been good and consistent. The Pasta Annapolis is a delicious seafood dish that I get frequently. My wife got the meatloaf this time and she said it was very good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Matthew's has a nice U-shaped bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's a decent cocktail and beer list. All things considered, this is one of the better restaurants in Catonsville.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Matthew's 1600 is a convenient and cozy restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came previously months ago for cocktails and was able to meet one of the owners. I told him I would come back with friends for lunch sometime. I was looking forward to returning however it was disappointing. The food was barely warm and just average. We ordered a Crab Cake sandwich and Cod Fish Filet with fries. The crab cake was broiled but it didn't seem cooked. It was cold and mushy. My friends said the Cod was okay but not warm and needed seasoning. The manager stopped at some tables to talk to customers but he didn't come to our table to ask how our meals were. I would have told him the food was cold and disappointing.

    Good food. Good service.

Good food. Good service. We had the mozzarella sticks and spicey string beans we delish. The pot roast was also good.

My crush flight: Orange, creamsicle, pineapple and strawberry lemon.

I looked at the menu and quickly chose a monte cristo to eat. I was intrigued by the "crush bar" on the cocktails menu. My first time to Maryland (that I remember in any case) do I decided I needed to try a flight of crushes. Orange, Creamsicle, Pineapple, and Strawberry Lemon. And you will have a hard time convincing me they even have alcohol..just yummy juice! Needless to say, my lunch was fantastic. And I read about the history of the location on the menu, and this place wins on all counts!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was great, and with a building from the 180's, how could we get better atmosphere?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A great stop in our road trip!

My family and I dined at Matthew's 1600 randomly on a Friday night. My son visited the restaurant previously with a group of friends, so we allowed him to select the restaurant for the night. He did a pretty good job. I had two an order of mussels and two margaritas. The mussels were pretty tasty and the margaritas were nice and strong. My son and husband really enjoyed their dishes as well. The decor inside the restaurant left a lot to be desired. We were seated in a booth and the booth oddly moved when I sat down. It wasn't secured to the floor. The restaurant also has carpet, which looked old and dingy. Not sure how they keep up with cleaning the carpet in a restaurant. The ambience of a restaurant is just as important as the food, so that really took alway from the experience. A rehab is definitely suggested! Otherwise, my experience was decent.

I hadn't been here in years but I did remember they had great service, and they didn't disappoint me this time as well. We were able to sit in a private dining room and the decor was very classy and comfortable. The waitress made some recommendations that we followed and I'm glad we did. The food was good and very much Baltimore staples. I will definitely be back again soon.

In search of a good location to take my team, from work, to say thank you for all of their hard work, we settled on Matthew's 1600. I had no knowledge of this restaurant, in fact it was a suggestion from a co-worker of mine. I am so glad he did because the experience was really good. The staff was attentive, we got our parties food at a very efficient pace and everything was delicious. I think we've found a new local spot to frequent.

Shrimp were good no wow factor, wings were good just plain but would have been better if they had a sauce and the burnt ends had more of a smoked bbq flavor which was different than usual but very tender and tasty. It was served with mixed vegetables and coleslaw. Veggies were ok and seasoned and coleslaw was to be desired. Not burnt ends is an entree on the menu. For entrees: crispy chicken sandwich with fries and chicken Mishkaki. Can I say, wow the portion required stretch pants! The sandwich; meat to bun is 20% more chicken than bread. It was seasoned and fried to perfection. The fries are in house cut and seasoned well too. The chicken Mishkaki is dish never tried before but reminds you of Nazan Halal's chicken with more of a rich tomato stew flavor with peppers, onions. It was about 8 to 10 skinless thin thighs seasoned and fork tenderness served in its own plate, then another plate with rice and the fixings. Think of a fajita sizzling plate and side plate of the fixings, same as this dish. I would definitely visit again! My pictures didn't save but here are few from other viewers which is identical to what was served.

I almost didn't though, once you dig past social media, you'll see a mix of good and bad reviews, and for a split second that gave me pause. Glad I ignored that feeling. We came on a Saturday around noon for lunch with the family. Addy's sits on the edge of a larger shopping center, nothing flashy, but easy enough to find. When you walk in, the counter is right there and the dining area is pretty small, maybe 8-10 tables total. We were greeted right away by the woman at the register, let her know we were dining in, and she handed us menus to take to our table. I had seen reviews mentioning clutter or stacked plates inside, but that wasn't the case at all during our visit. Everything was clean and in order. They had some jazz playing over the speakers, which gave the place a chill, quiet-to-moderate vibe. Lighting was average, not dim, not bright. Seating is a mix of booths and tables with chairs. I started in a chair, then slid over to the booth side of the table for more leg room. I was never uncomfortable either way. There was one person waiting on food when we arrived. We ordered at the counter and had our food in about 8 minutes, which felt quick. The same woman who took our order also brought the food out, smiled, and checked on us after. No complaints at all on service. It wasn't busy while we were there, but on our way out there was a line of about six people, so it clearly picked up. What we ordered: * Brisket Quesadilla - Shredded brisket with melted cheese in a tortilla, served with sour cream and salsa. The brisket was tender, well-seasoned, and had a light smokiness that came through nicely. * Beef Ribs - Fall-off-the-bone, smoky, saucy beef ribs with fries and cornbread. The cornbread came drizzled with honey, which honestly threw me off at first. I was like, this is either about to be really bad or really good, and it was definitely the latter. Almost cake-like, moist, and flavorful. I usually skip cornbread at BBQ spots, but this one hit. I can see how someone might feel the rib portion is a little light for the price, but not enough to stop me from ordering it again. * Mixed Mishkaki (Beef & Shrimp) - This might've been the standout. East African-style kebabs in a sweet and spicy marinade, served with rice and salad. The beef was insanely tender, I could've cut it with a cheap plastic fork. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, mixed with peppers and onions. It came out sizzling on a hot plate, fajita-style, which surprised us in the best way. Best bang for your buck for sure. This plate could feed two regular people... or one big back. I'm big back...lol * Cajun Chicken Tenders - I usually expect cajun to be dry-rubbed, but these were saucy, and still really good. Definitely coming back to try other flavors. Price-wise, meals range roughly from $9.99 to $24.99, and overall I thought the value was solid for what you get. Maybe some room for debate on the beef ribs, but everything else made up for it easily. Honestly, there wasn't anything on the menu I didn't want to try, and I don't even feel like I've found my go-to item yet, which is a good problem to have. As for the negative reviews I saw beforehand? I don't know. Maybe wrong day, wrong time, or they caught the place during a rough moment. Our experience was smooth, the food was fire, and the restaurant was well kept. Out of a few spots I've tried because of social media hype, this one was probably the most accurate to the hype. It made a big impression on both my wife and me. I live about 40 minutes away, and I'll definitely be back to dine-in or takeout, though I'd probably dine in so the food's hot. Great spot for a lunch date or grabbing takeout. If you've been on the fence like I was, go check it out.

Let me start with the wings because... wow. I've been on a mission to find a honey lemon pepper wing that actually has flavor, and these finally hit the mark. Sweet, tangy, peppery, and bold -- not that faint "maybe there's lemon in here" situation most places give. These had real personality. The smash burger was another surprise. I don't eat cheese, so I was a little intimidated ordering a smash burger without it, but no cheese, no problem. The meat itself tasted different -- richer, cleaner, and higher quality than your typical burger spot. The edges had that perfect crispy smash, and the inside stayed juicy. When the meat is that good, you don't need anything extra. Service was quick, ambiance was fitting and the food came out hot, and everything looked good enough that I had to grab pics before diving in. This spot is definitely going into my rotation.

We started with Potato Cakes with crème fraiche, they had a nice crunch, a tender interior with subtle flavor. I'd never had them with crème fraiche, it was a nice change and the mild tanginess with the creamy texture complimented the Cakes well. I ordered the Main Street with Weisswurst, a Pretzel and plain Spätzle. It was my first, the veal's flavor is understated in comparison to Bratwurst or Knackwurst (not on the menu) and was a pleasant changeup. The Pretzel was little disappointing while it was a decent pretzel, it lacked the crisp crust and distinctive flavor I expected. As evident by the rating while worthy of note, it's not a game changer. I'd ordered a large plain Spätzle, which was two regular portions, but was served Spätzle with cheese I tasted it and it wasn't my thing, which is not to say it was bad, I just don't care for cheese in dishes like that. Our server swapped one cheese for plain (my wife had happily stolen the other) and enjoyed the replacement. I found that the grilled onions gave it a nice homey flavor. Mistakes happen and it turned out to be a win in the end. We shared a couple of desserts and by far, my favorite was the Black Forest Cupcake. It's on the large side, they might be able to cut on the weighty crème icing, the chocolate cake and soaked cherries were a delight. The cherries are a significant improvement over the Marchinos I had before, if only there were more. Rathskeller can get a little loud, as it is a relatively small space with hard surfaces so voices reflect, it wasn't packed this afternoon, so it wasn't an issue.
