They always closed the door when coming in and out since I had the AC going which is something small but a lot of drivers don't care about that AND they cleaned up after themselves which again not everyone does.) Delivery team 10/10 What I bought: -Full extra firm mattress: from the Matthews Line or "in house" line. I saw someone complain about how firm it was but DUH. I LOVE IT! - Full matte black metal headboard with the knobs (see pics). I choose this bc I wanted something flexible in terms of style. I know I can change up my room (which I'm trying to do currently) and I wanted something that wouldnt hold me down to a "particular look." - 2 pillows: my neck feels perfectly supported and I won't do back to the lame ones I got at Target (boo!!) - Mattress cover: I recommend you look into buying the mattress cover or protector. Support your local small business especially in these pandemic times! Wife needed a new mattress; I'm not that picky. She said previous one had been close to 9 years old. Where did the time go? She needed coiled spring type & especially to the edge of the mattress. Chris G, the sales manager suggested their house Matthews brand. Wife said it was too soft even though price was cheaper & it was their firmest mattress in the house. He then recommended the Stearns & Foster, Rockwell ultra firm mattress. This company started back in 1846. Wow we just heard of them this year. We had shopped at Matthew's Mattress on Sunday & Chris explained that they don't deliver on Sundays. No extra fee for delivery. Yes! We received our mattress the next day. The delivery guy called in the morning saying they will be late as they were in Vallejo. Huh? Their window was 12-4 PM. He called back at 230 & said they are on their way from Vacaville. They were in & out in ten minutes with their masks on. They took our old mattress quickly & delivered the new. They were done by 335 pm. They weren't late at all. Awesome! Wife had been sleeping well for the last two weeks. Happy wife, happy life! Right? Yay for my sanity. My husband and I had been discussing getting a larger mattress for over a year. A queen-size just wasn't cutting it for us anymore. However, he hates shopping and a trip to check out mattresses was not on his list of "favorite things to do on a weekend". This was our biggest challenge and luckily, it was our only challenge in this whole process. I did some research and decided I wanted to go to Matthews Mattress in Elk Grove, figuring that if I had a place already in mind that was close by, the chances of him saying "ok" were greater. Then, one Saturday morning he said, "If you can find a nearby store, let's go look for a mattress today." He was surprised as I quickly grabbed my keys and my purse and said, "Great! I know a place! Let's go!" (By the way, planning ahead like this is really helpful if your significant other tends to drag their feet. Lol!) There were four reasons I wanted to go to Matthews Mattress. 1. I really liked that they were a family-owned business rather than a big chain store. 2. They were local. It was much more convenient than driving to the big furniture store in Natomas. 3. I saw on their website that they carried the exact Sterns & Foster model I wanted to try, as well as several other options. 4. I read reviews that said they weren't pushy, something that would go a long way to make this a more tolerable experience for my husband. All of those things were true, and we discovered even more reasons to like Matthews Mattress during our purchasing experience. We were greeted very kindly by Dana. She asked us a few questions about our wants and needs, and pointed us in the right direction. She showed us the S&F that interested me. It was wonderful. Then she suggested we try out a few of their store brand mattresses for comparison. Wow! I'm glad we did! My husband and I both fell in love with the "Michelle" model. It was beautiful and supportive without being too firm. It was also in our desired price range. Since we still needed to purchase the bedframe and bedding we wanted, we asked if we could return in a few days to buy the mattress. Dana said, "Of course! Here's my card. If I'm not in when you come back, this will make sure you still get it at the sale price." She really was fabulous and exceeded our expectations! Over the next few days, I bought everything we'd need in preparation for our new bundle of joy. Bedframe - check! Comforter - check! King-sized pillows - check! Sheets - check! I returned to Matthews Mattress mid-week for the final piece to the puzzle. Dana wasn't there so I was helped by Kendall. She was wonderful, too! It turns out that she's the owner's daughter and in our conversation, she gave me some more insight into the store's history. I really enjoyed getting such a personal perspective. I handed her the card I was given and she said, "Oh! Dana helped you! I'll make sure to write that on the order so she gets the commission!" That checked another box on my list of "likes". It always makes me happy to see appreciation and respect among employees at any establishment. We finished up the paperwork and Kendall arranged for our mattress to be delivered on my desired date - the day after our bedframe would arrive. Just as she said, the delivery personnel called 30 minutes before arrival and within the 2-hour window that was promised. I felt awful for them because it was an incredibly stormy day to be driving around delivering mattresses. Still, they were upbeat, friendly professional and they finished the job quickly - including the removal of our old mattress and box spring. So in addition to the four reasons for choosing Matthews Mattress that I listed above, here are a few more as to why they will continue to earn my business. 5. They are super friendly, accommodating and respectful! 6. They don't just try to sell you the most expensive mattress. They really want you to have the best mattress for your needs. 7. I would give Mathews Mattress five stars but the delivery guys get a two so hence my four rating. The in-store salesperson was very helpful and informative. I ended up buying a high end mattress. The delivery men were a different story. They were in a huge hurry. There was no dialogue. One of them tossed the pillows to me outside my house and the plastic covering on one was open so it fell out and landed in the mud. I tried but I couldn't get the mud out so I had to send it back with them. They rushed in and threw the mattress onto the frame, slamming the corner into the headboard in the process which cause the bed to gyrate wildly. Overall the delivery was a disquieting experience but the salesperson in the store was excellent. read more

There are not enough stars in the rating system to give this establishment proper credit. We went in to purchase a mattress is late 2017. The mattress set was in preparation for a very special bed frame that was being delivered in May 2018. We bought the bed because of the amazing deal that they were having for Thanksgiving. During this transaction the customer service was excellent. The mattress was stored in the spare bedroom until the classic bed frame arrived. When we went to place the bed in the frame, we realized we had ordered the the wrong size of king bed. We were well out of the 90 day period and knew we were on the hook to buy another bed. We had accepted that fact and then set our sights on a new bed, trying to figure out how to get rid of the other bed. Then enters Tony, the store manager. I called him to set an appointment to look at more beds. He asked why, as he had sold us out last one. I told him our plight and he simply said, let me see what I can do. I had no expectations as to what hat he could do but I could only hope. He called me a few days later and said come pick a bed. Without giving away all on Tony's secrets, I will say I was pleasantly surprised at how he handled the whole thing. We paid extra as expected but this establishment and Tony went well above and beyond any expectations that I had set. As long as I live in the area, I will but my beds from Matthews Mattress. WOW.. we visited this mattress store just on the ratings on yelp after visiting sleep number and not being very sure about their mattresses. I am so very happy we did. It is a local business with several stores, but not a big box situation. The customer services is outstanding. Chris helped us with every question we had, he was helpful and by no means did he ever push us to buy or select any particular mattress in the store. He didn't mind that we took quite a while to finally decide after laying on them over and over. We've made some mattress mistakes in the past, but because of the satisfaction guarantee of the mattress we selected, there is no risk. Wow! Where does that happen.
