When I initially contacted this location via phone, I was advised that I needed to make an appointment to come to the store; which I did. When I entered the location at my appointment time, I was greeted by a friendly employee. Once I explained the type of mattress I was looking for, the employee helped me narrow down the my options. On the same appointment, I made a down payment on the mattress and had a structured payment plan (interest free) thereafter. Don't Use "Mattress by Appointment" in RR I am new in Round Rock and went to the above establishment at 1728 North Mays Street Mays because of a business card stating that the owner, Guthrie Shavor, sells mattresses at a 50 - 80% discount. I went there, laid on the mattresses and picked out one that I thought was good. He charged me 600 (one of the cheapest) and delivered it to my duplex the same day. It was extremely uncomfortable and I asked to return it, as many good mattresses are guaranteed and returnable. He asked for pictures proving it was sinking in the middle. I submitted them to the specs he gave me and he asked for more. I said it was sitting on the floor and he said the warrantee won't cover the mattress unless it's on a piece of furniture. A platform bed does not cause the mattress to act differently. He said that he'd get the warranty to me and did not, nor did he stand up for the warrantee. There is no guarantee When I went to see if the warrantee actually stated this, I found that my mattress was a "Golden Mattress", a company from Houston, and the Golden Essence, which I bought from Guthrie for 600, costs $295 new from the factory. He marked up the mattress 200%, or double!!! I see at the bottom of the receipt: "All Sales Final, No Refunds". Guthrie should add "No guarantees, no warranties". This man is unethical, he lied and mislead me and wouldn't back up his product. My back hurts from sleeping on this mattress and I can't afford a new one after I blew $689.50 on this one on 11.12.22. Just Mattresses. Real New Mattresses. And beautiful attitudes. I am very excited tonight. So excited as I have not been in years. I feel lucky and blessed for, after four months of leaving the city that saw me grow professionally, Houston, and moving to this amazing City of Austin, will have my first good night of AWESOME sleep in Austin. I am a technical writer and, as such, spend way too many hours in a sitting position. Genetically, I suffer from lower-back pain and a good bed to sleep is a must from me. But when I realized the cost of living in this --I repeat, awesome city was so much higher than that of Houston I realized I would not be able to settle comfortably for a good six months. I resigned myself to sleeping on a tiny and uncomfortable bed someone sold me for very little money. I say "resigned to..." because browsing on the internet I realized that the prices of mattresses here are so elevated that made me think I would never be able to afford one. I considered buying a used bed with a used mattress (and was about to do so) despite my fears of disease and deceit, when all of a suddenly I came across an add on Facebook about mattresses being sold for a fraction of retail price. Very hard to believe? Yes. Honesty is a hard commodity to find nowadays. I thought I had nothing to lose and might obtain a good night's sleep for once. I felt entitled to it after having worked so hard for months. I was about to start feeling as Jack in Kubrick's The Shining. I contacted the advertiser, Guthrier, and he diligently -early in the morning replied to my message in a professional manner that you don't find these days. He explained to me the kind of mattresses he sold: never-used, new high-quality mattresses. He was very transparent about explaining how he managed to sell them for such affordable prices. He also explained he had mattresses for all kinds of budgets, which made me feel at ease. Assuming Guthrier was a very hard-working entrepreneur (after all I wrote at 2 o'clock in the morning because of lack of sleep and he replied at 7:00 AM), I told him what I was looking for and I would be happy to have a rendez-vous with him to go and do business with him. Guthrier's business is located at a modest strip mall. I arrived there and he wasn't there. Our appointment was scheduled for 16hrs30, but I finished work early and he was gracious enough to squeeze me in his agenda (he works by appointment, an idea I communicate with for I believe in working smarter not harder). I come to realize he was not in the location because he was kindly helping someone load up their mattress (I did see him and witnessed his customer service approach --apparently a thing of the past). As soon as he spotted me, he approached me with a very-well mannered approach and asked me if I was Cesar and was waiting to buy a mattress. I said yes and he replied it would be a minute. I went to fill up my tank at the gas station next-door. He started by showing me what he had in stock. Being a man of few words I explained my sleeping needs and likes, and directly asked him what my best option was. He directly identified the mattress I needed. It was not the most expensive he had --customer service twice?! He then asked me if I wished to finance or pay at the spot. I chose to finance. He explained my options and the implications/conditions of each creditor. Having a myriad of things to sell, he did not try to push any sell on me. Instead, he tailored my shopping experience. I asked about the products I was interested in. He was totally honest about what would go with the mattress I had chosen and what would not. He diligently and expeditedly processed the credit application. I was approved, not because I had good credit, but because luckily I have a very stable job and the financing company was only interested in knowing if I truly had a job. To Guthrier's financing companies of choice you are not just a number! He proceeded to advise on the fees for delivery and gave me a time frame for same-day delivery than only encompassed 30 minutes. He arrived 5 minutes in the delivery time frame period and went the extra mile explaining what to do to be able to sleep on my new mattress tonight. I cannot emphasize enough, there are still read people and honest companies out there in these days still. Thank you, Guthrier, for an out-of-this-world shopping experience. Tonight, in my dreams --which I anticipate will be sweet, I might even go from a technical writer to a fiction writer. All the work Guthrier left for me to do is to choose a genre.
