My experience began with a call to the Mattress Firm location in Emeryville, and unfortunately, it was anything but welcoming. The representative I spoke with was extremely dismissive and seemed completely uninterested in helping me, which almost caused me to take my business elsewhere. Thankfully, I decided to call the Alameda location, where I had the pleasure of speaking with Leila. From the moment she answered the phone, the difference in customer service was night and day. She was warm, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping me find the right mattress. We spent nearly an hour on the phone discussing my options, and she answered every question thoroughly without ever making me feel rushed or pressured. Because of Leila's professionalism, expertise, and exceptional customer care, I confidently purchased a California King mattress. She completely turned what began as a disappointing experience into one that exceeded my expectations. 11/29/24 What a failure. Came in to buy my daughter a new bed set... Left frustrated and drove straight to their competitor, Mancini's Sleepworld; see other Yelp reviews. See our Reno 5 star review for Mattress Firm... This would have been our 3rd purchase from the brand. Quality/Quantity - Came in for the black friday sale. Maybe I should not have started the conversation with the "show me the affordable value" section?!?! Well he showed us a few mattresses but could NOT explain the difference to my daughter. He hesitantly showed us a few others after having to ask. He would not tell us the price, he said "just look at the tag." He would not tell us the current warranties, he just handed me a piece of paper. We normally would have asked the other salesperson to help, but I could tell she was not in the mood to work either... Every time we had a question, he would walk away and we would have to call him back. Atmosphere - Decent size location. Plenty of street and mall parking. Service - I get it, retail, black friday, early (earlier than usual) sales, etc. I get it, but all that does not justify the lack of service. Well no service. Actually, if anything, offensive service. For management this was on 11/29 at approximately 1pm with the man. Not busy at all, I think only one other customer. Two employees are just sitting at the desk, one female, one male. Guess he got the short end of the straw??? He also gave us a lot of wrong information on deliveries, warranties, exchanges, etc. Anyways, he kept walking away back to his desk to gossip with his co-worker. After the second time he did that, we just left. This is next level rude and lazy. I know it is hard to find good people, but this guy should NOT work with the public. Price - $800, but we did NOT buy. At least we will NOT buy through him. Management really needs to visit this location. After nearly 9 years, I decided to figure out a way to get rid of the night sweats - that's both hormones and a new mattress. The mattress I bought in the fall of 2015 was more firm than I wanted to buy originally, so this time I wanted to return to a softer, plusher pillow top like I have had in the past. I first went to Ashley in Emeryville, and they were super nice. I checked out a Stearns & Foster Estate pillow top which was nice but way out of my budget. Mattress Firm in Alameda was my next stop the following day -- Patrick helped me out and was super friendly, respectful, professional, informed and an all around positive experience. I went for a comparison check to Mancini Sleep World (a terrible experience) and then returned to Mattress Firm. Young Patrick was surprised to see me - greeted me by name and helped me finalize the details on a purchase. The delivery went smoothly -- and I didn't use their service to dispose of my mattress (gave it to a neighbor who wanted a firmer mattress). After about 6 weeks, I decided: this mattress is still a bit too firm, despite being a big improvement over the last one. I called and spoke with Patrick on Sunday, and after discussion he discovered there was a "clearance" version of the Stearns & Foster mattress I had checked out originally at Ashley. Even better -- it was at a discount that made it a lower cost than the one I had purchased. The mattress was delivered the next day - and once again, the Mattress Firm delivery workers (Juan and Alan) were very professional, helpful and friendly. The new mattress is fantastic and I highly recommend asking about "clearance" models when you talk to anyone at Mattress Firm. Unlike new mattresses, you won't have the warranty or return -- but it might be worth it if you find a mattress otherwise out of your budget. When you don't wake up refreshed from a night's sleep, you know it's time for a new mattress. Luckily it's November and Black Friday sales were coming up. Researched on Consumer Reports for a firm mattress and I had two models in mind. I went on Mattress Firm's website and saw that they carried the models and also signed up for email promotions. During the week of Thanksgiving, they advertised their Black Friday Week Sale. So we went to the Alameda store to test out the mattresses. We were greeted by Carlos and he directed us to one of my mattress choices, as the other one is an online item only. We were given a pillow and a pillow cover to test out the mattress. The mattress was so comfortable. He wanted us to try out the hybrid model and also a Tempur Pedic so that we would have a gauge of what each type of mattress felt like. I talked to him about Sleep Number and he said we should check it out to get a feel for the air mattress. We said we would think it over and evaluate before making a decision and he said the sale was for the week. I appreciate that Carlos did not pressure us to buy. Very professional. Two days later, I received an email offering 20% off online purchases made within the 36 hours. I tried making the purchase, but it would not process. Then I received an email from a sales rep, Leandra Stays, to contact her to complete the order. Called and she explained that the system might have been overwhelmed causing problems. She completed the order and set up delivery date and sent me the email confirmation. The prior evening, I received a phone and email confirmation of the delivery time window. The next day, I was able to track the location of the delivery truck on their interactive website. That was pretty cool! Julio and Alejandro arrived at the beginning of the two hour window. They took out our old mattress set and brought in the wrapped mattress set and set-up. They were efficient and the entire process took about 15 minutes. Went into Mattress Firm with the intent to purchase a mattress and Jeff made it so easy. He followed my lead, showed me what I was looking for, and explained the differences between mattresses. He also showed me the adjustable base which I originally wasn't really considering, but the best part was he did all of this with absolutely no pressure. He didn't try to upsell me - he got me exactly what I wanted (and more!) but in the best way possible. 2 months ago we purchased two mattresses that did not work out. we returned to the store and purchased upgraded mattresses and made arrangements to exchange them, as mattress firm has a 100 night trial. Our delivery arrived and the somewhat rude driver examined one of the old mattresses and then went out front to "make a call". He then called from the truck and said they "couldn't deliver" and "call our sales person" as they were driving off. calls to the store and corporate customer service were met with "there is nothing we can do until the drivers return tonight". I'm a reasonable person. If our mattresses didn't meet their standards for return that is fine. We would have been happy to pay the difference and have our new ones delivered but we weren't given the chance. The delivery crew left without even saying why. Nobody I spoke with seemed to have any customer service authority of any kind. The silliest part is, if I'm not getting a refund for the mattresses I'm returning, and their customer service is so abysmal, why on earth would I purchase my replacement mattresses here? read more

When I got there Mike showed me a few of them in the store. He had good tips on what to try and gave me a pillow to try it out. Ended up getting an amazing deal during black Friday week. Yesterday, I checked their website and saw a piece of furnishing I was very much interested in purchasing. Furnishing that caught my interest: A Riva Nevis aka a night stand, which has a charge station in the top drawer and a nice size storage space underneath. Price: $249.99 before tax. I came prepared with my retractable measuring tape for the size dimension, giving about 1-1/2 inches extra for the WxDxH. It measured 24-1/2"x22"x27". Ambiance: Well lit and spacious. Store is on a corner lot and there's natural light coming in from the outside. Business hours: M through F, 10 AM to 9 PM; Sat, 10 AM to 8 PM; and Sun, 10 AM to 7 PM. Cleanliness: Top notch, pristine. Customer Service: Excellent. Robert DaSilva was personable, friendly and very helpful. He checked to see if this item was available for immediate delivery. Unfortunately, it was not, but I will return at the end of the week to order the night stand, which is to be delivered o/a February 7, 2015. A shipment of six night stands will be available inventory next week. I am very satisfied that Sleep Train has opened here in Alameda, as it is not that far from my home. Very disappointing experience: we went to this location to shop for a mattress around Nov 14. Joanne ( Annie), the sales lady informed us that there would not be any difference during thanksgiving sales since she was offering us the best price. We believed her and made the purchase on Nov 14. Later on, we found out that there is a sleepgiving event going on from Nov 14- 27. We should have been granted a Sonos one speaker and a free adjustable base. We went back to Annie. She said we did not qualified and she did not know about the promotion, not even a word of apology. We eventually went to the Mattress firm in Pataluma. I worked with Khalid and a one of their trainees. Sorry I don't know the young woman's name but she was very pleasant and helpful. My first trip into mattress firm I told him that I wanted a soft mattress and I wanted it to feel like I was sleeping on a cloud. So I picked the softest plushest mattress I could find. He warned me that I wasn't going to like it and it was going to be too soft based on my sleeping habits. But I INSISTED that I had to have this plush mattress he said OK fine but I guarantee you're not going to like it. But you have four months to return it. So I said OK great I will give this a try. The first night I got the mattress I was thoroughly disappointed and he was right I HATED it. I gave it about a month and it got worse and worse by the night. So I went back in there and he was extremely helpful with the exchange and gave me great suggestions. I listened to Him this time and picked one of the ones he suggested. But the best part is that the mattress came the VERY NEXT DAY. So now I am happy with my firm hybrid mattress that I thought I didn't want. He also gave me a great deal. read more

I simply can't say enough about the very positive experience that I've had with Mattress Firm in Alameda. Buying a new box spring and mattress was so easy. We selected the date for delivery and they were delivered on time. The only issue that we had was that WE chose the higher box spring. When it was delivered we found that we really had to climb up to get into bed. Not ideal for seniors. No problem though. I went back to the store and explained that we should have gotten the lower box spring and they quickly arranged to pick up the high box spring and delivered the lower one in 2 days (it would have been 1 day but we were out of town that day). I was at this store around 4.45 this afternoon planning to purchase a queen mattress. I walked around for a few minutes, there were no other customers or staff at the store. A staff member/ manager comes in a few minutes later with a coffee. I let him know I needed a mattress for a queen bed. He noticed that I had an Irish accent he then put on a really bad Irish accent mocking me. I told him I didn't appreciate it to which he replied he was only joking. I was with him for less than a minute and I walked out. This guy is in his late 40's/Early 50's with some facial hair and a pony tail. I purchased a mattress but they would not schedule a delivery, having me need to deal with phone calls during the work week. Ultimately they could not schedule the delivery because of the system was down and the order was canceled. A huge inconvenience and waste of time. My husband and I just bought a king size tempur pedicu from this location. It wasn't before shopping around other companies but I have to say we got superior customer service for Khalil and Mike. They were friendly patient and extremely accommodating. We were allowed to try all the different mattresses and ask as many questions as we needed. Which was completely not the case at sleep number. I am so excited to receive our new mattress as I am 7 months pregnant and have been having really bad sciatica. It wasn't until I sat on the tempur pedic medium mattress that I felt some kind of relief. I would totally recommend this location! Great customer service and great product!
