I am speechless at the service today. A taller, blonde girl working today on 10/23/22 at 330pm as my boyfriend and I walk into the store just browsing. She came up to us asking what brings us in, which we told her, she proceed to ask if we have reservations at a restaurant. We said no, we just ate and decided to come in here and browse, told her I had gotten a bed recently. She said something to the lines of, "You are in a mattress store, soooo?? Why are you here?" - we were so taken back by her response, and the attitude from her that I forgot word-for-word, but it was so close that I even asked her , "so are we not allowed to be in here?" So finally as my boyfriend kept on speaking with her for a second more, I walk away and start looking. Immediately I knew she wasn't getting any of my money. She also need to realize and not assume that my bf and I don't live together and he could have been more interested than me, instead of brushing us both off at the same time. While we were leaving less than 5 minutes later, because I no longer wanted to waste my time after that first impression - I asked if my boyfriend remembered her name, which he didn't. He politely walked over to her, while she was chatting with another blonde sitting at the desk - and he asked if she had a card so if he decided to come back. She said she didn't have one. And he said "oh, do you guys work off commision? Because I'd rather give your name". She said "i'm here everyday". And that was the end of that. Couldn't even give her name to us. I am so thrown back, it was a terrible first impression. If she didn't have such an attitude with us and ask why we're there, she would have probably got a commision from us because I WAS looking for a king mattress for the near-ish future. Sorry girl, this job isn't for you. You just lost the company some money. BTW, we traveled to another store in the same day, and beside it ironically there was another mattress firm in Port Jeff - we were curious to see if we'd receive the same service. We didn't. We met Charlie and his customer service skills were phenomenal. We even told him we were browsing, exactly as we did in Smithtown, he was way more positive, knew how to play the sales game, and knew how to treat people. We walked out without a sale but he never once gave us an issue. And we tested it, asked if he had a business card which he GLADLY gave it to us. So not only did the girl previously give us attitude, but she lied and said she didn't have business cards. Came in and met with Ronald and spoke about a mattress with adjustable base. I told him I wanted to stay within a budget and wanted an adjustable base with it as well. Ronald was able to get me into a full size mattress at the exact price point I wanted to be in. When it came to the adjustable base he tried to charge me $899 when it only costs $500. I smelled dirty sleazy fat used car salesman smell and decided to think about it. I come back in the next day and spoke with another representative who was able to pull up an even better mattress than what Ronald showed me and she also sold me the adjustable base for $500 ( the correct price ). If you walk into This location do not work with Ronald! He will pretend to talk to you nicely and be your friend but screw you on the bill. Shady business practices and dishonesty with customers. It's employees like him that give Mattress Firm a bad reputation. read more

About a month ago, my husband and I went into the Smithtown Sleepy's because we needed a mattress. The salesperson, Steve, was courteous and helpful though he only showed us the more expensive mattresses in the store. The whole thing felt very used-car salesman-ish, but we needed a place to sleep. We eventually half-setlled on a Tempurpedic mattress and adjustable base (around $4,000 total). We weren't sure if we loved it but Steve assured us that we "wouldn't really know until we slept on it." Besides, we could easily get our money back or exchange the mattress if we didn't like it. No problem, right? Well we did not love the mattress, but when we called Sleepy's they informed us that we had to wait 30 days before they would even speak to us about a return. Okay, kind of annoying since we knew we hated the bed after about a week, but not the end of the world. However, they also let us know that the adjustable base was final sale. Neither of these things were mentioned when we purchased the mattress. We are now in the process of trying to return the mattress since we went to Raymour and Flanigan and purchased something else. Side note: our experience there was great, as there was no pressure from the salespeople and we were actually able to comfortably go around and try everything. Highly recommended. Anyway, we have now been trying to get Sleepy's to pick up the mattress for the better part of a week to no avail. Every time I speak with someone they tell me another manager has to call me back. Ps-no one ever calls me back. It has been an incredibly frustrating and time consuming experience and I would not recommend Sleepy's to anyone. read more

My boyfriend and I work down the road from this location. We're actually moving to a new home and we were desperate for a new bed. What we had is way past it's comfort expiration and just too small for us. We decided to go in with just the intention to look at first. We were greeted promptly and friendlily by Jim. He was very knowledgeable about everything in the showroom. Before we came in I took an online test to see what mattress would best suit my boyfriend and myself. We both wake up with sore necks and backs; I'm also an awful tosser. The website suggested a hybrid Serta so we walked in with somewhat of an idea. We tried a few, including the Purple which was interesting, in a good way, but we kept coming back to the Serta Icomfort, which is the same as the Iseries on the Serta site, 500 Hybrid Cushion Firm. It's perfect. We're actually so excited to go to sleep again and not wake up cranky( more myself) and in pain. Jim was so helpful, patient and really let us know the ins and outs of different makes and models. I have just had perhaps one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had in my life, and it was at the Sleepy's in Smithtown, NY. I have just gotten home and wanted to yelp right away, specifically because of Mr. Paul Licari, the salesman who helped me this evening. He was so attentive, helpful, knowledgeable, and concerned about my needs that I was floored. I have a bad back, and yet he patiently helped me test out probably about 20 mattresses, explaining everything about the various support levels, giving me information about sleep science in general, and telling me after observing my posture on the mattress whether my sleeping position was appropriate and healthy on this mattress--even if it was comfortable now, lying on it for 15 minutes, he didn't want it to hurt after sleeping on it, and he really seemed to know what he was talking about (he obviously researches this stuff on his downtime to really know his subject). He refused to sell me something that was going to hurt me, and really listened to everything I had to say. He even stayed late to keep letting me try out beds. He really seems to care about the customer--which is frankly rare in the sales business--and I really trusted him and his judgment. If he had not been so helpful, we probably wouldn't have bought a mattress there. I even ended up buying a pillow (and he did the same thing he did with the mattresses, having me try 3 different ones to see which worked best with my neck). Recently, we went into the Smithtown store to purchase a replacement for defected mattress and we worked with Marilyn and Sue. They both were really great, not only were they very understanding to our previous bad experience but they also took the time to understand what we were looking for in our new bed and what would suit our needs the best. Before the sale, Steve my salesman and Sue the Sales manager were very helpful and accommodating. I was told by Steve that I would receive a promotional comforter and duvet set. I did not find out until after that Steve did not add it to my invoice and that I was not "eligible" because it was a warranty exchange. Immediately after Sue became rude and condescending and did not return my phone calls. Once they had my money I was trapped. I feel very deceived and overall this was a poor experience. read more

Stay away from sleepys. After the hard sell and all the add ons my King Koil mattress should have had a Bentley emblem on it. Sleepys will tell you all about their great warranty just don't have any problems with a mattress. Our $3k king koil was shaped like a hill making it impossible to sleep in as you would end up practically on the floor every night. A mattress technician came examined the bed agreed it was shaped like a dome, laid a stick across the bed and took some pictures. Two weeks later sleepys informed me I had normal impressions in the mattress after 3 weeks of use. My option was to pay $300 and pick a bed of equal or greater value.
