Just don't. Does not stand behind work. I hate leaving bad reviews...but Matt's cost us a lot of $. I should not have listened to him.

I should have read their reviews before hiring them. I had a very disappointing experience with Matt's Appliance Service. I spent $550 on icemaker repairs, and the problem was never fixed. They initially diagnosed the issue and replaced a part, but the icemaker stopped working again within two months. When I called them back, they said another part was needed. Each visit came with an additional service fee. After the second repair, that part also failed within a month. Right after their second visit, the entire refrigerator stopped cooling, not just the icemaker. I had another guy take a look and they confirmed it that the refrigerator was damaged. At that point, I already paid them about $550 and was being charged repeatedly without a solution and left my working refrigerator good for nothing. They messed up other running functions too. So I had to replace the refrigerator entirely. I am not doing business with Matt's Appliance Service ever and would not recommend them to anyone. The repairs were ineffective, costly, and they damaged a working entire refrigerator when I asked them to fix my ice maker. read more

Horrible. Had to give star in order to post, so really they should get no stars. Scheduled first appointment to have them no show, no call. Husband lost a day's pay. Apologized when we called them. Scheduled an appt for Saturday morning...right now...saw the guy pull into our driveway. Never knocked, only left a card saying sorry he missed us! I saw him pull away. Lights were on. Two cars in the driveway. Look, if you don't want to do the job then just say so and point me to the right people who can. Horrible service or lack thereof. I had two technicians come out to my house to check on my fridge on two different days. The first technician said it was just a compression issue and the second technician, on top of being short and rude with me, gave me a vogue explanation which I didn't fully understand. Because I didn't understand, I called the company back and asked them to call my husband to better explain and they haven't. I was told that the technician would call my husband back with an explanation and report. He hasn't called and our claim was closed without an actual explanation and we weren't given a report. So on top of being rude, the technician is also unprofessional. It's ridiculous and I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone. read more

These guys will only come to my area on Wednesdays. They don't care if my ice cream is melting on the other six days of the week. Matt is rude and has no respect for his customers. His skills are weak too which makes for a bad combination. He has been to my home four times. The first time just to look and order parts. Then to install some parts, which fixed some of our issues but not others. The third time to look again, not fix anything, and order more parts. Meanwhile, I still have frost in my freezer, my ice cream has melted, and some of my controls don't work. Yesterday he showed up for the 4th time. He fixed one problem, failed to fix the frost issue, and injected two new problems that we didn't have before he touched it. Now my freezer is beeping an alarm every 2 minutes and the lights inside the fridge no longer come on when the door is opened. Matt refuses to come back to fix the problems he caused until next Wednesday. I guess he thinks it is OK for my fridge to continue beeping all day and all night for the next 7 days. Today I called Whirlpool to demand that nobody from his company is ever sent to my house again. read more

Please do not do business with Matt's Appliances. They had to come to my home multiple times to fix my ice maker. Multiple parts were needlessly replaced which did not fix the issue. Finally, after contacting Whirlpool the correct part was replaced at over $500. The part last 4 months and failed again. They came to replace the failed part and then sent me a bill for $110 for a diagnostic fee. There was no diagnosis, they had already ordered and brought the replacement part. The part swap took 3 minutes. When I called to question the fee, I was repeatedly told to "hold on". I was then told the fee is the service fee and they only have a 30 day warranty on their labor. I asked where this policy is written and the owner, Matt, told me that it is an "unwritten policy". I asked if they would have given me the part so that I could have avoided the service call and they refused that as well. So I bought a part, that failed under warranty and the only way I can get the replacement that I am entitled to is by paying these crooks another $110 for literally three minutes of work. Please avoid this company at all costs and take your business elsewhere. read more

I Called to make an appointment. They cancelled and rescheduled. Didn't show up on the rescheduled day so I called them to reschedule and Matt came out to service our ice maker. Routine, annual service (Cleaning). $131 dollars. After Matt left, the back door was left wide open, and the icemaker door was open as well with the same blinking yellow light denoting (need servicing). I called to inquire, and the receptionist informed me that "all I had to do was push several buttons to finish the servicing and do the rinsing of the cleaning material". My first thought was, "who was ever going to tell me this?" No note, not instructions. The receptionist agreed, after a confusing conversation, that someone would come back out to finish the job. They did???? Maybe...we were already making ice at that point, clean or dirty. To my surprise, I got another 40 dollar service bill. When I called again to inquire, about the additional amount, they said it was for the second service call. I asked if it was customary to leave the door open, not finish the servicing and to charge again for finishing the job, the receptionist seemed confused and said she wasn't sure as she had only been there a couple of months. I simply stated that I would be sending them the money and writing a review describing the event. The receptionist seemed fine with the outcome and so am I. A repair was scheduled with Matt, Appliances through Lowes for a 11-3 time frame. Matts called me the next day to verify and told me that it would be a 1-5 time frame. I stated that a 8 hour time frame wasn't going to be good, I needed a little smaller window. Matt's agreed they would call 30 minutes prior. They showed up and within 10 minutes knew what the problem was and will get the parts. The parts came in and we scheduled a service window between 1 and 5. Everything went good until now. I get a call at 2:01 from a random number, which ends up being a service tech from Matt's Appliance, stating "he would be going to our location, if your not available give us a call". I tried calling back at 2:03 until 2:12 and got no response. I called the office number at 2:14 and spoke with someone at that point. Matt's called me back at 3:00 stating no one will make it today and nothing is available until next Wednesday. Now I have to wait a week for a repair because of one minute. This is a little ridiculous and that's why I'm leaving a 1 star review. Unfortunately, I haven't even had a chance to see the work that they can do. read more

This place left a bad taste in my mouth. Had them out for a simple cook top replacement. Sent a guy out to repair when I specifically said I was looking for all options, replacement, etc. Decided we just need a full induction cooktop replacement. I believe the owner Matt came out. He was less than friendly and tried to say it would not be an easy replacement unless they had the exact model number. It was a ge profile and I planned on replacing with the same. They then called back and said they were too busy to help me??!! Called Biedlers in Woodstock. Super friendly, said it was easy $100 install. Great price and customer service. We have many high end appliances here we would like to upgrade in the near future but this place earned a "do not call ever again" on my list. Highly recommend you find other alternatives. read more

Our Maytag washer was making a horrible noise during the spin cycle. I called and Matt's was out the next day to look at it. The tech was on time, friendly, respectful, and was in and out in only a few mins. A part needed to be ordered but he made sure we were able to use the washer until it came in. They worked around my busy schedule and were quick to reach out to schedule the part replacement appointment. My washer is now working perfectly. Thank you Matt's Appliance for get to us quickly and making the process painless. While I hope I don't need them again, I will definitely be using Matt's for any future appliance service. read more

The icemaker in our Whirlpool freezer/refrigerator didn't cut off during a refill cycle and flooded the kitchen floor. Matt came out and did a repair that lasted for a while but then the problem reoccurred. We called twice and emailed four times over a two month period but they refused to reply to our question about what we should do now. We would have even accepted the recommendation to buy a new freezer/refrigerator (if that was the only realistic option) but for a repair service to refuse to communicate with a customer when a repair doesn't permanently solve a problem is unacceptable. So, if you are okay with a repair service that won't email or speak with you if their repair fails, then Matt's Appliance Service Inc. of Timberville, VA is your kind of service provider. If you are interested in a repair shop that stands behind their work and will communicate with you if a repair fails, look elsewhere. read more

First of all, I think Matt's Appliance is the BEST! I think their customer service is great too. You have to separate the repair technician from the availability of parts. Yes, it may take a while to get some parts in, but that is NOT the fault of Matt's Appliance. We have every appliance in our house under warranty serviced by Matt's Appliance. Every time they have come to our home, they have been expert, professional, polite and very respectful of our home and family. I should add that when we bought our new refrigerator, one of the requirements before purchasing was that Matt's Appliance would be the warranty repair company for the fridge. I overwhelmingly recommend Matt's Appliance!!! read more

I requested of the technician (the owner of Matt's Appliance Service) who had come to repair our oven that he, please, wear a mask while in our house. He replied, "Call the manufacturer and get another repair service," and got into his truck and drove off. Terrible customer service. 1 star for the 2 week delay their incorrect diagnostic and repairing of the wrong part prevented the use of my dishwasher. The plastic "burning" smell was NOT the water inlet solenoid, but was the metal filter that was supposed be protecting the washing pump that crumpled and got into the pump. Hence why all the beeping the second tech ignored and "completed" the ticket. They refused to come back and fix it without a new ticket. Oh, I opened another ticket as instructed, but told Assurant I wanted another company. Luckily, that happened and THAT tech took the time to run the dishwasher and hear the humming from the jammed pump. He also took a look at the door to see a deteriorated gasket that likely caused the initial leak. So a week later THAT company actually got my dishwasher up and running. Meanwhile Matt's left the mounting screws untightened, thus even if they did fix the problem, my dishwasher would likely have another leak. Thanks Matt's for the wonderful job. I am most pleased with Matt's appliance service of Timberville, VA. Matt and his office staff are very polite and professional. Matt himself is an unbelievable competent, friendly service man. He, knowing that we needed our refrigerator repaired actually came out on Sunday afternoon as his service schedule was full through the end of the year. We received a card in the mail saying that our new KitchenAid dishwasher is in need of a replacement part. I called the corporate phone number, and they set us up with an appointment for Matt's Appliance to come out and fix it. I took off a day from work to be here. The night prior to our appointment, someone from their office left a message on our machine (which I didn't get until the next morning) saying they "just needed some additional information." When I called their office the morning of my appointment, I was told that they had JUST received the work order from Whirlpool, and that they needed to order the part. They said it would take about a week and they would call me to set up another time. I told them I had taken the day off from work, etc., but no apology was offered. So my husband and I waited and waited for a call that the part had come in. Nothing. One month later, I called them again and asked what the status was on our part replacement. The woman on the phone hemmed and hawed around and said, "We just need a little more information from you." I said, you already got all our info last month, and we haven't heard from you since. She acted all confused and kept me on the phone for 10 minutes. She asked "What's wrong with your dishwasher again?" I had to explain (for the 3rd time) that it was a manufacturer-ordered part replacement, and they supposedly had ordered the part over a month ago. She was so totally incompetent, it was unbelievable. When I asked her if the part had come in... complete silence. She set a new date that's now two weeks away, and I asked again if the part was there. She then said, "Yeah, looks like it JUST came in." Imagine that! I was so uncomfortable after this experience, I looked online at their reviews... Needless to say, I'll be calling back Whirlpool to get a different technician assigned to our job. No way will I trust those people with my new dishwasher after this ridiculous experience AND after reading all the negative comments about their business practices and incompetence! P.S. I Received an APN & RNN# from LG for our refrigerator repair assigned to them. They refused it saying we are "out of their service area". We are in Elkton area, only 30 miles away! From the reviews, their service, if you can get it, is horrible. Add another BLACK mark against them!!! read more

I have a Samsung dishwasher. Matts appliance came out on three separate occasions within a 2 1/2 month period to fix it. It's a leak they say. Well it's still leaking. They take forever to get parts in. Forever to get them to your house with said part and still can't fix it! I don't even want to give them even 1 star. read more

My fridge broke and I called kitchen aid to get it fixed. They called Matt's Appliances as an approved repair shop. Matt's appliances only did part of the warranty work but decided to commit fraud and not complete the work they were paid to do. When we tried to contact them they would not pick up the phone. When we tried to contact kitchen aid for the broken fridge because of the incomplete work they said the warranty work request was closed because Matt's said they completed the work. Also Matt's appliances refused to send us a copy of the work they completed and did not give anything for us to sign. read more

I'm very upset right now. My parents had to have an appliance fixed and called Matt's. When the repair person showed up they ask him if he could wear mask in their home while working. They where told They can't wear masks because the company doesn't provide them and if offer them a mask it might be contaminated. My parents are part of the high risk group for COVID19 and need to be safe at all times. They have had other service people come into their home that wore mask without a problem. The President and Governor and the CDC have said people should wear mask in public, when your repair person is in a home that is considered public. Even if it's a bandana, the repair person doesn't even know if someone in the home might not be sick. read more

Our 5-year-old refrigerator quit working on Sept. 29. We called Matt's Appliance Service. Matt came on Oct. 4 and diagnosed a failed compressor. For this we paid $100 and were given an estimate of $700 for the compressor and $400 for labor. We were told that there was a 90-day warranty on the replacement compressor. Matt returned to replace the compressor on Oct. 21 for which we paid $1,271. The refrigerator still did not work. Matt installed a second compressor in late Oct. or early Nov. to no effect. A third compressor was installed by Matt on Nov.15, which also didn't work. On Nov.18, a different technician from Matt's came to check on the compressor and said that there was nothing he could do, but that he would talk with Matt and we would be called the next day. We heard nothing from Matt's for the next two weeks in spite of our almost daily phone calls to voicemail. We sent Matt's an email on Nov. 30, asking for a response and noting that according to our owner's manual, the original compressor was covered by a 10-year manufacturer's warranty. We eventually got a call from Mary in his office on Dec. 3, to say that Matt had decided to "step away" from our problem and that we would be given a $500 refund for the original compressor since it was under warranty. As we had not been provided with any written bill or invoice at any time, we don't know what portion of the $871 we had paid for parts was for the compressor, but $500 seemed low to us. We called back later that day and left a message requesting an invoice listing all parts and their costs so we could see if $500 was reasonable. We have gotten no reply since then, despite numerous phone calls and emails. We eventually called Sears to see if our refrigerator could be repaired. When the Sears technician checked our refrigerator, he noted that there was no freon in the system, and he could not find a leak. Apparently it had not been refilled when Matt last worked on it. In addition, the system had not been flushed out to clear the debris from the failure of the original compressor. There was an obstruction in one of the tubes carrying coolant to the freezer. The technician repaired our refrigerator and it is working fine now. The cost of this repair was $905. We understand that Matt went to considerable trouble and expense in his unsuccessful attempts to repair our refrigerator, but we paid him $1,371, and our refrigerator still didn't work. Even more exasperating and disappointing is the continual lack of response from a legitimate local business! Added to our frustration is the fact that when working on the refrigerator, he damaged with his tools our floor and cabinet around the appliance. All we want from Matt's at this time is an itemized invoice showing what we were charged for all parts and labor and a refund of what we were actually charged for the replacement compressor. It is now March, and we still have not heard anything from him. We have complained to the Better Business Bureau and to the Virginia Attorney General's office who have tried to contact the business, but Matt's has not responded to them either. We definitely would not recommend Matt's Appliance Service to anyone! read more

I took my washer to them to be fixed in Oct. 2020 due to a drain pump. He said it needed a water valve also. when I finally got it back in Nov. 2021 the door was broke. We made them fix it, They fixed that and we finally got it home Jan. 2022 it still does not work!!! Worst place ever will not ever go back. A year and a half and nothing not to mention every time we would call no one would answer. you would think all the people in that office someone would answer the phone. read more

Our 2nd warranty call. First time they were professional. We had an appointment the second time also. They only come to our area once a week. They did not even show up! No call, nothing! We called and they said they never came because they called and no one answered. We were home all day, no one called us. Now they want us to wait another week! So we have waited a total of THREE weeks (one week for diagnosis, one week waiting for part and now another week because they never showed up)! Try to find a better appliance service. read more

I called To get someone to look at my washer, the lady who answered the phone isn't nice at all, and I live 3 minutes up the road and these crooks still want to charge $75 to come out and look at my washer?! When I left an email. Matt called me back right away, asking me to send pics of the problem. I sent them, and then he got right back to me and said that he would need to buy the part, and that he would do his best to find the best price for the part. Very unsatisfied with the service received from Matt's appliances. I had 2 appliances in need of repair, a washer making a grinding noise and a freezer with ice build up. Both appliances are under warranty. Matt came out and leveled both appliances and reset the temperature in my refrigerator and left. The same day, I noticed that there was still ice build up in the freezer and the washer was still making the grinding noise. I called back for a return visit to fix the original issues and requested for service hours to accommodate my work hours which were not obliged. I had to use my Memorial Day Holiday for his arrival (not a big deal). However, a second trip still failed to resolve my issues. I had to point out that the freezer door seal didn't look flush, so he investigated and realized that the hinge may have caused the issue. He then told me that my washer "tested fine in the test cycle." I tried to explain to him that this grinding noise happens during each cycle that I use my washer, his response "I'm not staying here for an hour and a half for it to run through the cycle." He said that it was not his job to do that. His solution after batting back and forth was for me to call GE and "ask for another service tech." Well, thanks Matt, because that is what I did and my washer is now fixed and it took less than 1/2 hour to diagnose and repair. Please do your research and call your manufacturers if you want quality service for your repairs and ask for another company because Matt does not want to accommodate schedules, take the time to diagnose and fix problems and his attitude is not the best. I will give credit to the office staff, who were friendly and prompt with return phone calls and setting up my service schedules. read more
