I would not recommend them!! The movers were fantastic, however, the office staff were not in communication with me about the movers running late and eventually they stopped answering the phone. They close at 5:30pm (per office staff) and stopped answering my calls at 5pm. I would give customer service zero stars if I could, and the movers five stars. Find some other company to go with. When I initialed called for a quote, what was told to me over the phone seemed reasonable and fair. I was sent an email quote saying it would be $255 per hour for the specific day I requested which was a Saturday. When I emailed to set up the move and confirm an arrival time, I received a response email saying it would be $275 an hour "because they were so busy that day." When I called to talk to an actual person about why my quote changed when my move date did not, I was then told it would be $295 an hour because they are busy that day and it's a weekend!?! And the guy who answered was super rude. My original quote went from $255 to 295 I guess because they can pick the rates based on what they feel like charging and written quotes don't mean anything. I didn't end up booking and would caution anyone to check this before booking with them and get a written guarantee they won't change their hourly rate on you. read more

We hired Matt's Moving to move some heavy furniture out of the way for some remodeling work and then had them come back the following week to move the furniture back into place. We paid $300 each time (the movers only spent about 30 minutes doing the work, but they've got a 1 hour minimum charge). Because this was such a small job, they scheduled it both days to happen after the crew had finished a bigger job in the morning, so we ended up getting a ~4 hour window for when they would show up, which worked out fine for our needs. I believe if you hire them to do a full house move or something similar, they would give you a more definitive time for when they'd show up. We had two movers come, and they were able to move everything we needed them to without issue. They were careful with our furniture, including our glass cabinets and tables, and nothing was broken. It was the same two people who came both times, so the second time they already knew where all the furniture went and required very little guidance. read more

Matt's Moving called a few hours before the move, demanding an extra $700 in travel fees. I had even called the day before to confirm the price and details and was assured everything was all set. I held firm, stating, "I am sorry a mistake was made, but we have a signed agreement which includes a fixed travel fee." After several tense phone calls, I agreed to pay an additional $75 in travel fees. The actual movers subcontracted by Matt's were excellent! They worked fast and took great care of my items. Not a scratch on anything. They spent about 60 minutes loading and 45 minutes unloading. They were very patient while waiting for the "Ok" to start. 5/5 for the subcontracted movers who did the labor. 2/5 for Matt's. The guys were great! We had the Bartel Crew. My Mom is 96 and they were very kind to her and moved things several times to accomidate some changes. They were able to get things done very quickley and efficiently. We got a refund because they bill in 15 minutes incriments and called 1 hour before they arrived. We hired Matt's Moving to unload a U-Pack trailer. It took 3 movers 2.5 hours to unload 14 linear ft of a pup trailer, from the street to a 2-story house. We paid $235/hr, plus a $235 "trip charge." There was a $250 deposit. We tipped $10/hr per mover. We didn't know the price upfront, only the deposit. In my moving madness, I assumed it would be no pricier than movers in San Francisco. That's on me for not asking, but also their website doesn't show pricing, which is unusual. Ultimately, it was very expensive for what they did, especially the "trip fee" that was the same cost as an hour of 3 movers' time despite them driving 20 minutes and not having to use their truck for moving anything. It cost more than the most expensive local movers in San Francisco ($250/h for 4 movers, $60 trip fee). I asked them to waive the trip fee after I paid, and they took $50 off. On the day of the move, they were on time. I introduced myself and each of them said their name was "Dennis", which was odd. It struck me as something they all agreed to in order to make it harder to report any one person. They put down runners to protect the floor and carpet, but often walked off of these even after I asked them to not wear shoes on the newly-cleaned carpet. They were kind enough to lend me their razor and tools when I needed to take something apart so that it would fit up some stairs. Generally, their communication made it seem like they'd rather be anywhere else (which is fair, this job sucks, it was just noticeable). The company used SuperMove for inventory, and the system was a mess. I had to talk to several people at the moving office about inventory, and fill out the inventory 3 times, because SuperMove didn't record it and employees didn't talk to each other. In the end, they moved the stuff just fine, if much slower than expected. The work they did wasn't that different from TaskRabbit and I probably won't use them again just because it was so expensive. read more

I scheduled Matt's Moving just 4 days prior to our desired move date at the suggestion of a friend who had a great experience with them. I never do these reviews but here it goes! I had Matt's move a safe from West Saint Paul to Burnsville and yea it was a task. It was heavy and a beast. But to have the movers not tell my wife they damaged not only my safe and my wall was very unexpected! Then after calling and emailing someone from the company for two months and nothing got done I was very suspicious. Someone responded finally after a few weeks and said he was fired and no longer with the company. Funny then after responding to that person I was ghosted and nobody has reached out since.... three months later. They damaged my wall and cherry safe while setting it up right. They advertise 10,000 moves a year why so few reviews? My experience was horrifying. There response to my 16 calls during my move absolutely begging them to do what they were contracted to do was met with a "it's a he said she said". There website at the time stated they would pack all items, wrap items and protect floors. They did very little of this yet charged twice the quote. They simply carried one item out at a time and placed it in a big box this seemsvery inefficient. Many items are damaged as result yet they take very little responsibility. They loaded an antique table with boxes in the moving truck and shattered. They don't care. This table has been moved multiple times across the country with professional long distance movers without so much as a scratch. They absolutely do not work with with you to resolve issues. My movers also called the company multiple times to complain about me. Yes cause I was asking them to do things pack certain items together- label things etc. It's truly incomprehensible! read more

Having moved a few times, we have worked with several movers over the past few years. Matt's moving company was good. They arrived promptly on time and started getting to work right away. They were very kind and polite. The follow up calls were great and the communication was on time. Their quote was higher than the others but I still went with them due to the good reviews hoping everything would be done within a certain time frame. However it took another extra hour. I would avoid using Matts Moving. We used them Late January 2022 and the mover admitted breaking our TV stand and so we filed a claim and that was denied because it wasn't made from solid wood. They didn't have enough runners for the steps/floors and left a complete disaster of a mess. When I asked again for money to replace the TV stand they refused to pay. I used Matt's Moving to have my belongings from a one bedroom apartment put in storage 4 years ago. I recently moved back to St Paul and requested delivery. I was quoted $60 hour/person with 3 movers, no trip charge because I was local (6 minute drive) so @ $750. The movers failed to provide me the invoice to sign, since they "locked themselves out of the garage" and instead just drove off. I was charged $250 deposit and then an additional $1575. And despite verifying I was here and the time worked 12:30 - 4:30 they refuse to adjust the bill. What's even more insulting is that I tipped each mover $50 Upon delivery bed frame was broke and 2 antique shelves. Movers assembled both only for me to later find the missing & broken parts. Upon unpacking I realized that at least 5 large boxes of my items were missing, ranging from wardrobe boxes to what they call dish packs. Am estimate of replacement value $5000+. They say they have done a "sweep" but it's not their problem since they bought the company after my belongings were in storage and I can file a claim for $1.40/pound. This won't cover 10% of the cost of what was lost not to mention the sentimental value of items I collected for over 30 years. I also cannot understand how that many boxes of that size can simply go missing! I would warn anyone not to use Matt's Moving because the most disturbing part of this is their complete indifference and lack of responsibility. read more

Came late and first thing they told us upon touring the house was "we're not going to be able to fit all this in our truck. It's not your fault it's our office's fault". However, they did nothing to remedy this and the office basically told us we're SOL and it was our fault. We just wanted to move as much as possible without wasting time and you could see how careless these movers were nicking the walls, denting our furniture, all while we were present. It was highly unprofessional how they would rest our expensive table table-side down on concrete as well as in the truck. They didn't even have the tools to move heavier pieces like our dresser and son's dresser. They struggled to try and brute force their way through our door ways and hallways. Our basement couch was taken apart, legs removed, screws lost. Had we not asked what was left down there we would have never known that multiple legs and screws were removed. By the time the couch went up the stairs, fabric was missing from where they had scraped against the walls. They broke our son's mirror from his nursery and said nothing of it. It wasn't until they left and we started putting things away that we noticed it was gone. Just like the reviews below, they offered a discount which accounted for nothing, we still had to rent a uhaul and move the rest ourselves a day later. Do yourselves a favor and get a good, reputable company to move for you. Hiring a moving company was supposed to reduce stress. I got quotes from 3 local moving companies including one we had used twice before. That company's quote was more than $300 higher than they'd previously charged us so they were a no. Matt's detailed rates were similar, but the minimum they quoted was a better deal than the other two quotes we'd gotten so we chose Matt's. They were also super helpful and professional on the phone, and their website was easy to navigate. On the day of our move our crew was extremely late - expected between 11am - 4pm. When they hadn't showed by 5:30pm, we called Matt's Moving's main number. They reached out to the crew and let us know the prior move had gone much longer than anticipated and they still had 2 hours of work left. They siad they would reach out to other crews to see if they could come instead. We got a call a after 6 from the crew leader letting us know they had run into issues with their truck but were on their way. We were grateful for the update. At that point we just wanted to be moved that day! Our crew showed up about 7:30pm tired from their already long day but in friendly moods and ready to work. They were polite, were careful, were prepared, and were fast! We were moved quickly with no hassle nor damage. My only critique would be that we would have appreciated a call from the main office once it was known that our crew had run into issues so instead of waiting around we could have done other things. That was a minor inconvenience however, because the actual crew doing the work was super friendly, polite, and were very apologetic about the timing. We were promised a discount due to their lateness and later found our card was charged the full amount. I hired Matt's Moving Company more than once. The first time they were fine. However, the I hired them 9/2020, to pack and move me, and it was the worst moving experience of my life. In fact it was the worst moving story I have ever heard of. Note: this is the first time I've ever written this type of review. Its going to be honest. Brutally honest! I moved from a small house in Saint Paul. It should have been an easy move, like my previous one. We had already purchased and packed 50 boxes ourselves (tip: don't buy boxes from UHAUL as Matt's will charge you for those, as well as any boxes they supply, because that's where they buy boxes!). Everything else, except what we packed in the car, was going to storage. Yet, a crew of 8 movers took 11 hours + to complete this move! I say "complete" because this is how long they worked that day. We went back the next day to clean and found MANY, MANY things were missed (full drawers in the kitchen, large paintings on walls, pots and pans!!). We knew early on, that we were dealing with an inexperienced crew. It was obvious listening to their leader (who spent most of his day sitting in the truck), scold the crew! Even with our help packing and taking boxes to the trucks (we packed 30 boxes that day ourselves!) the move took double the expected time. They were sloppy and unprofessional. We would have done a thorough walk through before leaving the house, even though we monitored them ALL DAY LONG, but our window on the other end was closing. The worse thing would have been to have full trucks with nowhere to unload them. I have never experienced such a stressful, sloppy, move. Here is the kicker: 5+ hours longer than it should have taken, broken items, some damage to the house, MANY items left at the house, AND they charged us $750 dollars over the top end of the estimate!!! Matt's Moving moved me into the St. Paul house so they had a record of how much stuff I had (same exact stuff), yet, their response was that I had not given them correct information for the estimate. I told them over and over to go back and check records of the last move (same stuff)! We tried to work with their office to come to some sort of compromise. Their offer was to refund $300 - if I agreed to not review them online. I offered to pay the top end of the estimate ($600 more than the previous move 2 years earlier (SAME EXACT STUFF)!!! We supplemented their movers just to get the job done. Their job was to pack and move our things....not leave expensive things in every room! I'll go back to get my things out of storage in the spring. I wonder what I'll find when I unpack? If you don't want to add extra stress to this already stressful time, don't use Matt's Moving! Apparently it's like playing roulette, because they have at least one crew, with no training (and bad attitudes). This company have clearly chosen to stop upholding any kind work ethic or quality standards. They are allowing their employees to do damage to people's property and lives. They loaded all my items in the morning and drove eight hours to our new house in St.Paul. The following day, in the morning they unloaded all our belongs in their rightful location in our new house. Would try them again in the future. We just used Matt's Moving a few days ago to move my parents. The service by the guys was great. But I just got the final invoice, and they charged and pulled out of my parent's bank account an extra $300 more than they signed for at the end of the move on Friday. The amount of labor time on the invoice did not match the time spent, and they charged $50 for a carpet protector that they used for the first two feet of the house - it protected two feet of vinyl (not carpet) and they did not disclose it was a fee, nor did they give us a chance to say no thanks. read more

If I could give this company zero stars, I would. Last month, I hired this company based at its yelp rating. First, they were an half hour late. When I showed them the dining room table that I had referenced in my quote for the move, they told me they had forgot tools. My tools were packed away so I had to borrow tools from a neighbor. When they arrived at the new apartment, they did not set up the bed or the dining room table. They dropped a bookcase which is now useable and told me that they would send a claims adjuster to deal with the matter in a week. The next day, I was ready to assemble the table, but there were no bolts. I have spent the entire dealing with this company. They state that their contract states that they are only require to reimburse a dime for every pound of damage. This is neglect not damage. Do not use this company. read more
