Let's start with Matt (the owner) who is a first class mechanic. Now to his front of the house support team... that is holding him back from being a premier repair shop in Paso Robles. My experience over the past 2 days was a nightmare. Being in the auto industry previously I know the expectations and it was a total fail. Mostly by the front end team. Disorganization doesn't quite fully explain what to expect if this is where you are having your repairs completed. With that said, if you are seeking a stress free auto repair experience go elsewhere until they figure it out by either having the family members work in an industry they are familiar with and/or hiring a profession to run the front end. I was actually told by a family member that I was rude for calling her out when I waited 10 minutes for my completion status while she discussed the breed of another customers dog. WTF!! read more

I don't know where to even begin with these guys. My dad brought in his car to get an oil change and asked about a weird noise the car was making. They came back and said he needed a new water pump and timing belt kit replacement which was about $1200. What they didn't realize was that we got a new water pump and timing belt kit replaced less than a year ago. So luckily my dad left and took it back to the original mechanic who did the work. They can back and said the water pump and timing belt were fine and it was just the tensioner that was causing the noise which was an easy fix. Matt's Smog & Car Care tried to take advantage of an elderly person and they should be ashamed of themselves. I would give them a negative 5 stars if I could. Please look at some of the other reviews of them trying to rip off people. Do not bring your car here!!!! These guys are crooks and will take advantage of people. read more

Made a 8:30 am appt for a simple tune up. Took the kid at the register over 25 to find the correct ques to click for what i wanted checked. Arrived at 4 to pick it up and it was STILL not completed. Matt came in and out and never once made eye contact or spoke to me at either drop off or pick up. I ended up waiting til almost 5 before it was done. Once again Matt came through for me. I took my jeep to another smog place in town, because Matts didn't have any appts available today, and I needed to get it done today. The other place failed me due to my air filter. This is the same K&N air filter that has been on the jeep for nearly 20 years, and matt has smogged it for me, for the last 10 or so. I decided to stop my matts on my way home, and see what he had to say. He said it was 100% legal, and gave me a solid thumbs up. I asked if I could leave it there, and if they got a cancellation, slip it in. A couple hours later it was done! They didn't have to do that, since I didn't have an appt, and it was 100% my fault I'd let it get pushed to the last minute, but once again Matts came through for me. So, I am oblivious sometimes but I got into my car yesterday and noticed my floors had been vacuumed. I was kind of shocked because I had asked our grandson to come and wash my car and vacuum it. Brought it in due to a battery that was randomly not working. Diagnosed it as a head gasket issue. Allegedly tried three different head gaskets on it but none worked. Charged my son $200 for nothing! They didn't even clean the battery or replace it to see if it just needed a new battery. read more

I brought my car here for a smog and had a wonderful experience! My car was taken in right at my schedule appointment time and the staff was super friendly! The smog didn't take too long and they ensure to keep the inside of your car clean when they enter and exit the vehicle which I found to be very awesome. The office waiting area also has a vending machine and they provide coffee so you can snack while waiting .
