Meh!. Given, that I arrived 35 minutes before closing. Ordered Brisket Sandwich and Mac & Cheese. Sandwich could have been warmer. Flavor not very "southern". Taste was a Yankees version of Alabama BBQ. Perhaps try other food suppliers? Unimpressed. I may give them another chance. read more

Another great restaurant in Lapeer, which I'm thankful to see. Maude's has another location on Davison Road in Flint so I was happy to see another location pop up. There's no indoor dining, but there are tables and patio chairs outside. I ordered the dinner for one platter with pulled pork, smoked wings, fries, Mac and cheese and a cornbread muffin. Everything was fantastic! You can choose the sauce your meat comes in, and I went with the Carolina gold and the Kansas City sauces. The staff is new so be courteous! The food didn't take too long to get prepared and I enjoyed the patio outside. Overall great restaurant and a great addition to the growing Lapeer foodie community! read more

Ribs were good coleslaw and mashed potatoes tasted like KFC. Mac and cheese was the blandest I've had. It was not dry, but ZERO flavor.

Ribs and sides amazing. This is take out or eat on outdoor seating. The real thing: I recommend dry rub with sauce on the side. Fried okra is not greasy or slimey. The corn bread is unimpressive. Easy access from main road. Quick and attentive service. read more

Been here a few times now since it's close to home and I love bbq. Seems to be hit and miss, one day is good and the next bad. The brisket I had yesterday was so dry it was like a camel walked across my tongue. They didn't have any ribs as that was my first choice. Saturday night and no ribs??? Huh???? There is a sign driving through Lapeer that reads "Home of Miss Universe..." Well, Maude is the Miss Universe of Ribs. I've had down home beef ribs in Bexar County, TX and bougie David Chang beef ribs in Vegas, the beef ribs I got from Maude beat them by a country mile or two. They are that good. I would say if you are within a 50 mile radius, they are worth a stop. read more

I'll be honest. I've only had the bone in wings here since they were on special for $0.75 per wing! Wow are these good! I'm also on a keto diet so I got the wings ordered naked. Sauce on the side. Alabama white sauce is usually pretty low in carbs so I asked for that sauce. It wasn't bad, but definitely not my favorite like I remember it tasting at other places. But I wasn't here for the sauce. I was there for the wings. And they made me happy. Nice Smokey flavor and lots of meat. They were beautiful to look at too. Lapeer isn't a foodie destination, at least not for me with the usual mix of fast food, Coney and casual dining setting the tone. BBQ has been represented by Woodchips and that's about it. Enter Maude's going north out of town about where farms start to replace exurbia. This spot has been a revolving door of eateries last I remember Italian I think. Maude's is a bright modern space focusing mainly on take out it seems which is probably smart. An extensive menu, I opted for pulled pork, fries and a drink to go. The nice young girl behind the counter was spot on although she spoke in nearly a whisper, but we got the order in and it was ready in a flash. Pulled pork was very good, although not particularly smokey. No selection of BBQ sauces at least I wasn't asked or saw it offered. The one that comes on it was quite sweet even for me and a bit heavy handed, I guess that's 'Bama style. The fries were ok but could have been cooked a bit more for crispy-ness. Thankfully they weren't coated with anything. Keep it simple!! A pleasant surprise was the retro soda offering from RC! I had Tahitian Treat a childhood favorite, think carbonated fruit punch, fantastic! Ahead of me was a Mac and cheese order that was so big but looked like a covered aluminum rowboat. Is there a famine coming that I'm not privy to?? No napkins or set up in the bag caused a messy mess but I was a rental so I'll cut them some slack. Asking for salt and ketchup set off a search but were found. I know you have to play to your market but I'd push the envelope a bit with more smoke and spice. Maude's in Lapeer give it a try! I loved the food I got from Maude's. I think some of the people that don't like it here just aren't used to flavor! So much food around here is the same and bland, with the exception of woodchips, Krave, Detroit burger bar, and now Maude's is here. This is a differ t type of BBQ than woodchips or things people make at home with Busch's BBQ sauce. This is legit Alabama BBQ, and it's delicious! read more

Awesome food. I love the 3 little pigs sandwich with some of their breaded onion petals. When they first opened in Lapeer, they clearly had some issues to work out and it apears they have done so. For the most part, they have pretty good service and REALLY tasty BBQ food. Also, the location just north of town makes it very convenient for my family and I. read more

Ordered food on a Sunday and when I arrived to pick it up, I was greeted by a staff that seemed to be upset I had bothered them. I think I interrupted a game of euchre and by the quality of food I got, I'd say they paid more attention to what was called trump than actual food quality. The food was very good but not great. The rib tips had a lot of bark which was rather thick and dry. I liked the KC barbecue sauce. The mac & cheese tasted good but was cold. I would think that in Louisiana they would serve it hot. The hush puppies were probably the best part of the meal. I would try them again but would order something different. read more

Do not get the wings. By far the worst thing i have eaten. Dryer than the Sahara. Basically hockey pucks. Sauce doesn't even make up for it.

Man oh man. I drive by this place all the time. The people were nice, and have to say the best burger I have had in years. Got burger with pork on it, and asked for hottest sauce they had to fulfill my southern background taste. Amazing. Maude's leaves a lot to be desired after a first visit, ordered several items to try and none were good enough for me to make a return visit. They were out of all chicken options at the beginning of the dinner rush. The pulled pork, ribs, and cole slaw were decent. The bad was the ribs it appears they didn't remove all of the peritoneum membrane, the brisket asked for flat and was given maybe the fattiest pieces of point I have ever had, half the product was inedible non-rendered fat with no meat. Either the fat wasn't trimmed to fully render in the target time span they do their cook or the time of the cook was not long enough. While the brisket appeared to have a light bark there was minimal smoke penetration leaving virtually no smoke ring or flavor. The corn muffin was dense, dry, and had poor flavor. I have tried most notable BBQ joints in SE Michigan and myself smoke BBQ regularly, Maude's was by far the bottom of the list for BBQ joints in the region. read more
