I've always been a big fan of the food here but I feel like with the menu changes, there's also been a drop in quality. I came here recently and the server wasn't all that attentive and forgetful even though we were some of the only people in there, but I think he was just new. He was still very nice! However, im not a big fan of the ambiance. It's a tight space, and all the wall decor makes you feel more squished in. I think it's time for an update to the seating. read more

Worst time ever going. We walked in and waited to be sat and could see they were busy due to being short staffed, no worries that's understandable. After waiting 5-10mins I asked the bar tender (Ashley I think) if me and my family (4of us) should just pick a table cause I could tell it was busy and no one seemed like they were going to come get us anytime soon. She rudely replied back saying "yea but I'm not gonna be able to get to yall for a while..." with a very snarky attitude. Hey I get it, yall are busy and we can be patient no problem. But I'm not gonna tolerate a rude response especially while holding my 3yo daughter and with the rest of my family too. We walked out, my daughter begins to cry cause she's hungry and now my wife doesn't ever want to go back. I mean just a little common courtesy and politeness goes a long way. Ashley, you weren't that busy cause I saw what looked like a couple of your regulars sitting at the bar (which there was only 2 people at the time, rest of the people were sitting at tables), the lady called you out by name and said come here to cash them out and you dropped everything to do so. Stopped in for lunch and I always love a good burger. It's such a versatile food and there are so many ways to experiment with it. There is no lack of that at the Old Detroit Burger Bar! Ordered the Ambassador which is 1/2 lb patty, corned beef, Swiss cheese, and 1000 island dressing. Kind of like a mashup between a Reuben and a burger. Two of my favorite sandwiches! I'm not a tomato or onion fan on my burger so I just had lettuce and pickle. This was a decent burger. I was honestly hoping for more though. The corned beef portion was VERY small. And the patty didn't seem to have much seasoning. I order mine medium to grab a lot of that juicy flavor and it was kind of bland. Put all together it was still a good burger, but my expectations were higher than reality delivered. The waffle fries are amazing! The beer, whiskey, and bourbon choices are phenomenal as well. The place was slammed busy and the servers were working hard and very friendly. I'll be back to try more of the menu. read more

A Wonderful place to stop for lunch and more. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The Restaurant has high top and regular seating so you have your pick. Everyone seems to know everyone. Food has always been delicious and fast and friendly service but they've gotten our orders wrong or forgot to put someone's order in on a few occasions but they have always fixed it quickly so we can't really complain because everyone makes mistakes. We don't expect perfect service every time everywhere we go but as long as they make it right that's all that matters and they always do. read more

Pleasantly surprised! My kid and I walked in for a quick lunch. The atmosphere was awesome. It was just like walking into an "old school " bar. The staff was very welcoming and super nice. THE REALLY BAD: Came in at 6:45 on 1/30. It was moderately busy. Two servers were consistently going back and forth past us. At 7:05 after not being acknowledged at any point we finally got up and left. Terrible experience when we walked in the door. After standing and watching for a minute we walked right back out. This is a small establishment and was jam packed with tables and chairs. No distancing whatsoever. The bartender who we observed bringing food to tables did not have on a mask and wouldn't wear one. No sanitizing going on. We called ahead for a carry out. When we got home the burgers, hot dog and fries were great. The chicken Greek salad on the other hand was horrible. I'm not just leaving a bad review on the salad it's more about the lack of customer service. I called to talk to the manager and got sarcastic reply's. I left my number and never received a call back from the owner. My mother-in-law physically went in and received the same disrespect. It's really a shame because we weren't looking for anything free, just acknowledgment that the salad was less than acceptable. We won't return due to the no give a shit attitude. I thoroughly enjoyed the Old Classic Detroit burger. Everything from the presentation to taste was spot on. A nice toasty bun, fresh veggies, and a well seasoned burger topped with swiss cheese was well worth the wait. I must say these were the best fries I've had all year. Great flavor, super hot, and super crispy but not greasy. I do have one tiny complaint. Those tiny little straws they use... My husband and I stopped into your bar at the suggestion of a friend today for some lunch. Let me begin by saying that our server Lucy was an absolute delight - and that is the ONLY positive thing I have to say. We were greeted by whom I believe was the bartender and he couldn't have been more rude. We only stayed because Lucy was so pleasant and thought we'd give your restaurant a chance. We both started with soups - him chilli and me the chicken n dumpling. The chilli was not edible it tasted so bad and while the chicken n dumpling was good, it was cold to the touch. We then ordered boneless wings, which tasted and looked liked they were made yesterday and I'm quite certain would've broken the window had we thrown them. Our bill came to $48 dollars and I am so disgusted because I could've gotten better food at McDonald's. I had the Lapeer Wrap, which had LOTS of bacon pieces, the right amount of cheese & moist chicken. Definitely get the BBQ sauce (it comes w/ it), because I tried Ranch & the BBQ was more fitting. Their Ranch is good tho! My brother got the mushroom burger which was HUGE w/ the plain fries, which were "ok. Their waffle fries are much better. My Mom & husband got the 3 sliders & they chose the burger sliders, cooked just right, perfect amount of onions & cheese.
