We came here for lunch with our family while visiting from out of town, excited to try this location after having a great experience at Woodchips before. We were dining with our whole family and looking forward to enjoying the meal together. During our visit, my husband--who serves in the military--asked about a military discount. While the restaurant does offer one, it was only applied to the two items he personally ordered, rather than to the family meal as a whole. This felt disappointing and, honestly, a bit disrespectful in its execution. While we understand that businesses can set their own policies, the way this was handled left a bad impression and took away from what was otherwise meant to be a positive family outing. The food itself was decent, but the experience surrounding the discount overshadowed our visit. Given our prior positive experience with the Woodchips, this was not what we expected. We hope management considers how these situations are handled in the future, especially when recognizing military service. read more

Discovered this gem on our way up to the thumb. It was so hard to decide what to eat because everything on the menu sounded delicious, and it was delicious! This is my 3rd time checking out Lightning Rounds. The first since the new menu has been out. I do have to say that the menu upgrades are a major improvement IMO. Not that I didn't care for the previous offerings, but this is something that will have us coming back. There are a lot of new choices that are really great. THE XXX Cheeseburger is definitely one of my favorite burgers in town. We ordered a side of cheese curds as well and they are fantastic. The waffle fries are very good and the shoe strings too. My wife ordered the 3 piece tendies and they were very good. Audrey had her tendies and waffle fries for free! Great feature. Quin had the mushroom and grilled onion grilled cheese? Not quite sure the official name. But she loved it. I was more pleased with this trip than the last time we were here. Like I said, I just think these choices are more memorable than the last menu. We were outside on the patio to enjoy this beautiful day. There is plenty of space out there for all kinds of fun stuff. We will be back in the future. Menu was very interesting, pretty much all sliders, of all kinds and priced right, most under $5.00. Some salads and cheese curds, poutine and more. Wow What a completely transformed space. From the updated colors to a smoother esthetic what an upgrade from previous restaurants in this establishment. The menu is simple and straightforward- cost effective handhelds, buildable sides and salads. The sliders were the star for me- checkout the redonkulous burger- my only regret was not getting a better pic before slamming it. It came to the table steaming hot with a perfectly grilled brioche bun and tons of cheese (which is of the utmost importance to me). The hot chick sandwich was also insanely good - it wasn't too hot spice level wise but enough to perfectly pair with the sauce (garlic aioli, I think?). We tried the cheese curds (hand breaded), cheeseburger chowder (new comfort food), and the pollo taco as well. The cocktail menu had specially crafted cocktails plus a full bar- I was surprised to see the cocktails were $5- a steal to easily complement the rest of the menu items. For only being open a few weeks the service was good too. Our server Hailey explained everything is either scratch made or locally sourced and prepped us for potentially a longer wait time as they worked out the opening kinks- we experienced NONE of that. Food was quick, hot, and as described. I think the food format works best for people who want to try a little of everything, even the "small" sides were large enough to share. Just discovered this place about 2 weeks ago and we've been back 3 times since! This place checks all the boxes. Awesome atmosphere. Great service. Friendly staff. Good drinks and AMAZING food. Quickly became our favorite place to grab food and a beverage. So far we've tried the egg rolls, wings, Angry chick sandwich, burger, salads, pickles, fries & cheese curds. It was only when we asked about my drink that she submitted the order for it and dinner. Fast forward one week and our daughter is home and wants to try LR. We try again. There were 2 other tables on our side of the wall. We waited over 10 minutes and never were addressed at our table. Fast service. Spicy chicken slider was great also their shoe string fries. Had Oberon on tap. Any Michigan restaurant or bar not having Oberon during season is unforgivable. Cheese curds also tasty. Our server was top notch! Food was over-salted , over seasoned and too greasy. The onion petals were tasty. Husband enjoyed his shroom burger but the waffle fries were so over seasoned/salted that we couldn't tolerate them. I was looking forward to fish tacos in the house made tortilla, but for some reason they fried the tortillas in salt, which took away from the dish. Maybe it was seasoned to the taste of the kitchen staff on duty, but it was way too much. Simpler is better sometimes! Ambiance was good. Many screens to watch. I've visited at least once a week since initial review. Ordered spicy chicken sandwich two more (separate) times; had to send both back - it was like licking a salt block, & I'm not shy with salt in the least. But please, DO NOT let that stop you from going there, or ordering that. That sandwich packs a punch. It's refreshing to have an actual SPICY chicken sandwich when so many others claim it, but aren't. Waitresses handled the salt issues awesome! Because the staff here is AMAZING. A few other people that I dined with also mentioned their food was salty too, I think I've narrowed it down to the batter used for fried anything. We've had cheese curds come out a bit on the salty side, too. But the beer is ice cold and goes down very well to cancel the salt out. Not adjusting my rating because best staff, best cheese curds ever and there are other great things on the menu. My only advice is to visit their fb page to see what events are going on. They have a really neat back area for bands / private events (If you ever get a chance to see the local group Cicada here - those kids are really GOOD!) but on a different visit, they had an open mic night. It was difficult to have a conversation with family when there was a bull in a china shop next door at times. I imagine they can't shut the door to the back area due to fire exit regulations. We had dinner here a few days ago. I had a "cool" chicken sandwich. It had no flavor. I asked for a side of ranch and put some on my sandwich, but the bun absorbed it and the chicken had no flavor. We used to eat here when it was Sidetracks, and the Coke always tasted funky. The Coke problem has carried over. The mac and cheese has a peculiar flavor, it's almost like the pasta was boiled in green beans water. The pasta is mushy, too. Yuck! Our waiter was attentive and polite. Highly recommend the whiskey maple storm, cheeseburger egg roll, carnitas tacos, cheeseburger chowder and any of the sliders. We also all agreed that the cheese curds were the best we've ever had. I really want to give them a good review but there are some things that weren't so good, I had a bowl of their cheeseburger soup and I was less than impressed, watery cheese with very little in the way of burger with nothing else, except a small takeout container of chopped pickles the size you would get for sauce. The double slider was good and tasty but for almost the same price at other places you would get a half pounder. I got the slaw side and for 2.50 I got another small cup , about the size you would get a condiment in, it was good but small, my wife had the chicken taco which was cold and the 'puffy shell' was cold and chewy.
