Everything was communicated via phone calls and emails (Ali would stay late [so sorry!] to accommodate the time zone difference and our busy work schedules): timelines, start and due dates, vendor selections, reminders, etc. Looking back I think the process was made so simple with the least amount stress as possible, with her passion and dedication. Overall the process was made fun and enjoyable which we loved. No wedding details were left unaccounted for from the planning process (even things like recommendations for suit selection for my guys spread out between NY, Cleveland, Austin) to coordinating ceremony and reception times with the sunset. Of course being a typical guy I underestimated the amount of details that could go into designing flower arrangements, table linens etc. When you work with MA, you get to work with their recommended list of reputable vendors who all come together in the end as a great team. This was our first time going to Maui as well and coordinating our 65 guests was difficult as expected, but Ali was always available to answer any logistics questions we had, no matter how insignificant or naive they sounded. I joked with wifey multiple times, I had so much trust in them that I could've just presented them pictures of what we wanted, left the layout process up to them and showed up the day of to be surprised at the ceremony/reception. I picked it based on how good the website was arranged. Yes, that's right ... I basically picked a website that looked *together* and basically looked, well .... pretty. Pretty pictures and cursive writing accompanied with easy page navigation. That's how I roll. Deanne sent us information and we picked our package. There was an a-la-carte menu to have additional things added, like releasing white doves or butterflies. (We decided to opt-out of releasing random insects or birds since we don't know what the repercussions are to the environment, and with our luck they would be hit by a car or sucked into the ocean, and of course we are so morbid ~ our laughter might be met by evil stares from onlookers.) Deanne was awesome! I wanted someone to have it all together for us, and we would simply show up -- and that's how it went down folks. No fuss, no confusion, no problems. If there were any, we didn't know about it. All of our communication was via email and then by phone when we got to the island, and we met her when we arrived in the parking lot of the beach we were getting married on. I only had two requests, the date and time, and I had to have a specific lei. Deanne delivered! We took a shuttle down to the beach, and when the door opened, I felt like I was met with paparazzi. Who's this guy taking pictures? Oh, that's our camera guy? Sweet! Deanne came and gave me a big hug, and I looked over at our minster, I realized he wasn't the one that she said was performing our service. Should I be worried? Nope! This guy was amazing! He did a traditional Hawaiian wedding and even blew the conch shell during our ceremony. Deanne, thank you so much for making our wedding day with friends and family awesome and totally stress free!

During numerous email discussions, Kara made excuses for every issue we raised and essentially blamed us for the shortcomings of our wedding planner. Because of that, I cannot recommend Aloha Wedding Planning Services. Although Veronica, our planner, was lovely and personable, the service we received on our wedding day did not reflect a 5-star experience. Given that we paid $4,000, I expected much higher quality. If the cost had been lower, I can confidently say I would not have been as upset by the small details that didn't go perfectly.

Take My Death Away…read more For the past year or so, we had been planning a family vacation to Hawai'i to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. But, as our luck would have it, literally two days before we're set to board the plane, my grandmother (selfishly) decided to pass away. Well, as one can imagine, this did not sit well with my mom, and she wanted to cancel the whole deal. After much cajoling, we were able to get her on the plane, and part of that making her feel better was my sister suggesting we have our own ceremony while in Hawai'i to honor her. This is where Kahu of Hawaiian Ceremonies took over. My sister contacted her, and she responded quickly over text. She then proceeded to interview my sister in order to get some background information about my grandmother to use in the ceremony, set up a time and date to meet, and the rest was cake. She even got the necessary permits to hold the ceremony at the beach. The ceremony was beautiful, succinct, and, best of all, made my mom feel better so she could enjoy the rest of her time on the island.
