I joined a FB group for Maui residents, in hopes to figure out how I could help their community recover from the fire. I would have flown to help, but I'm a single parent that works full-time and I have my cats that I need to look after, too so leaving San Jose wasn't an option. Instead, the group helped me figure out where I can lend a helping hand to. I donated canned goods and dry foods to the Maui Humane Society. I purchased and sent school supplies to a teacher. Last, I wanted to do something nice for the kids.. to show a bit of positivity in light of darkness. I purchased 40 teddy bears and I placed an order w/ Heidi to surprise the same kids that are waiting for the stuffed animal surprise to arrive. Heidi reached out to me thanks to the FB group. Her bakery is also listed on the sheet where businesses have been impacted, so I knew I would help brighten the kids' day and support a local business. I ordered 4 dozens. She has a lot to choose from, but Heidi suggested chocolate chunk and snickerdoodle to keep it simple for the kids. I agreed, but could have opted for any/other flavors if I wanted to. After a few exchanges, the cookies were picked up yesterday. Look at the packaging! So beautiful! I bet it tasted delicious and decadent as well. I have yet to step foot inside their new digs that took over the old Tutti Frutti spot. However, I was gifted a 3-pack sampler of cookies. It would've been nice if the package was labeled properly with its contents. Lilikoi Oatmeal This was my favorite of the trio as it had the best flavor and texture, but not by much. The lilikoi drizzle wasn't overly sweet or pungent like the fresh fruit and complimented the cookie well. A layer of oatmeal lined the bottom of the cookie for a mouthful of oats. Ginger Spice My second favorite cookie but it was too soft - squooshy like a Peep candy, though the flavor was spot-on. Chocolate Chunk Sea Salt Horribly crumbly like an old cookie that sat on the shelf for too long, killed it. OVERALL: Good luck, MCL, but I'm not a fan. read more

I've watched Maui Cookie Lab grow over the years from their little cookie trailers at various locations on Maui and now to this brick and mortar spot in Kahului at the old TCBY/Tutti Frutti. They've given the place a lovely facelift with fun splashes of color throughout and even have a great printed social wall that encourages those aesthetic photos for the 'gram. In the past few months I've tasted and experienced their cookies through various avenues whether it was a prepackaged dessert at events, a coworker picking up a box for the team, a very very large order of boxes of mixed cookies for an entire organization, and here at their store. I've found myself loving their cookies more and more and have especially taken a liking to their Chocolate Chunk Sea Salt cookie! Their Likiko'i Oatmeal is also a good choice along with their floral shortbread cookies. If you're wanting to try something a little different, grab a cookie ice cream sundae where they cut up a whole cookie and pair it with ice cream! It is a bit pricey at $4 for one cookie, 3 for $11, or $21 for six so it's definitely a once in a while kinda treat for me. If you want to try a larger variety of flavors, I'd recommend the Mini Cookie Gift Box (12 cookies) for $22. They also do custom orders and worked with my team when we needed hundreds and hundreds of cookies for our staff -- it makes for a great treat at those company parties and events! read more

First of all yay for the reserved parking spots in front the store. Finally made it here after seeing all the yummy photos on Instagram. A very cute shop with the smell of fresh cookies as you enter. There's a good assortment of cookies, but not too many where you would be there for hours trying to decide. It's $4 for 1, 3 for $11, & I think 6 for $18. But don't quote me on that last one. The more you buy, the better deal you get. As much as I wanted 6, I went with 3. Got the lilikoi oatmeal, chocolate chip oatmeal with Mac nuts, & caramel toffee. Cookies had a good texture. Littlle crisp on the outside, softer inside. The chocolate chip oatmeal was thicker & softer. There with some salt sprinkled on top which was a nice touch. Very yummy & probably my favorite. The lilikoi was a nice surprise. I'm not a huge lilikoi fan, but it added a nice tartness to the oatmeal. Caramel was good, not too sweet. Being that we live in Kihei, I threw then in the fridge, so the chocolate wouldn't melt. It didn't change the texture, even the next day they were fine. Person behind the counter was very nice & helpful. Definitely need to come back & try more. read more

How sweet it is! Although I haven't tried all of the cookies they offer, I plan to one day! Maui Cookie Lab creates humongous cookies that are fresh, tasty, and make great gifts. They also have itty bitty cookies in case you want something more petite. My favorites are the lilikoi oatmeal and floral shortbread cookies (which you can get in the regular, large cookie size or as a mini 2" size). Their floral cookies are beautiful shortbread cookies topped with dedicate, edible flowers and finished with a citrus glaze. Sure the cookies are a bit pricey, but the big cookies are huge, and a lot of attention goes into each cookie, especially the floral ones that are individually handcrafted. What put Maui Cookie Lab over the top for a 5-star review is the owner Heidi. She really understands the importance of a happy customer, and I was pleasantly surprised at her great customer service and willingness to go above and beyond. Driving down the hwy past Makena Beach 1-2 days after searching online for "thee best cookie options on Maui" and happened upon this truck along the side of the road. I like thin crunchy cookies just like thin crust pizza it allows you to appreciate the flavors and texture thoroughly in my opinion. I actually got some of these cookies at the Maui airport! After eating them, I regret not getting more and stopping at their shop! The caramel crunch was my favorite by far, and the salted chocolate chip was a close second. The lilikoi oatmeal was also good, but I liked the first two more. A definite hit! read more

Meh, it's just okay. The shop is super cute and the cookies look nice. But the cookies themselves? Nothing special at all. The caramel crunch cookie was kinda weird because I was expecting caramel but it just tastes like a molasses or a ginger snap cookie. Don't get me wrong, the cookies don't taste bad or anything. Even a bad cookie is still a cookie but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat these again. If I was nearby and feeling lazy about baking maybeeeee I would drop by here again. My daughter called me and begged me to stop here before going home today and OMG...This is the CUTEST cookie shop! Upon entering the shop, I was greeted by the sweet manager Shanna. I'm the type who asks quite a bit of questions and gets excited about the littlest things, and Shanna was there for it. LOL. I got 6 cookies (for $21): 3 Chocolate Chip with Sea Salt, 1 Sprinkled Snickerdoodle, 1 Caramel Crunch, and 1 Lilikoi Oatmeal. My family and I loved them ALL. OMG... Where have these cookies been all my life??? Why am I only tasting them now??? They opened their brick and mortar location and I told my brother we NEED to try them. He opted to get 6 + the one free...Snickerdoodle, Chocolate Chip w/salt, Ginger, Mexican Chocolate, Caramel and Chocolate Chip Pineapple...I ended up with the coconut /mac nut macaroon and a couple more! I just tried the Maui Cookie Lab's Cookie Ice Cream Sundae and it was delicious! I wish I had gone earlier! The ice cream is from Rosalani and you get to pick a cookie to have diced up and sprinkled on top. You can choose from their classic cookies, freshly baked each day. It's brilliant! The shop is fun and colorful. Reserved parking out front is a plus. Will definitely be returning for more cookie sundaes! read more

The chocolate macadamia nut rugelach the box has a sticker ship 2 day express but it took 5 days to get here. Plus we ordered the Macadamia Chocolate Rugelach received only chocolate rugelach. The picture shows them the size they usually come in any bakery in NYC. The actual size are no larger than the top of a thumb. For $49.95 plus two day shipping? Which actually takes 5 to get to you? Wasn't sure if I should post this review but what I heard really bothered me. I've been a frequent customer since returning home. The last time I went I heard a dog barking from the kitchen. I asked the sales person if there was a dog back there then the owner came out with her dog! Dogs do not belong in a kitchen! It's not the first time I've heard a dog barking in there. I'm not familiar with food and health guidelines but I'm sure animals are not allowed in commercial kitchens. I won't be back. read more
