We found these cookies at a small booth in the Maui swap meet and soooooo happy we did! I've never had a macaroon so rich and decadent. They're moist, yet crunchy on the outside. I met Lori at the Maui Swap Meet a year ago when she coaxed me to her booth to try some macaroon samples. I am not usually a fan of macaroons but when I tried hers I absolutely loved them! I bought 3 pounds back to California and was rationing them for weeks. Fast forward a year later, I decided to have my wedding in Maui and right away I knew I had to call Lori to order macaroons for my wedding favors. We figured out my order and arranged to have 2 macaroons, 1 original & 1 pineapple, in tiny lauhala boxes with a fuchsia ribbon on top with me and my husband's names and the wedding date. I received my macaroons today and OMG. These heavenly little cookies are to die for. I got the classic coconut, kula strawberry dipped in chocolate, double mac nut, trail mix and kona chocolate almond. They are so delicious and filled with lots and lots of coconut. Gluten free. I love the fact that the chocolate did not melt in the post office or in the truck. I am ordering more as soon as I gobble everything up. I really love the trail mix!!!! My husband and I discovered Maui Macaroons when we went to the Maui swap meet. We were on our way out when I noticed Lori's booth. Never one to pass up a free sample of a hawaiian local treat, I snuck over and tried a cookie. I was sold on the first bite! I convinced my hubby to try them even though he's not a fan of coconuts and he LOVED them. We purchased 2 bags and they stayed soft and chewy until we flew home a few days later. We love these cookies so much that i even ordered these for my baby shower. I called Lori and she baked the cookies to my specification (something that they encourage on their website!) and had them in the mail so that they would arrive to California on time. this last saturday i happened upon lori steer's booth at the maui swap meet - "maui macaroons". i glanced around, saw only a small amount of product, then noticed the small bags of cookies were $6.00, at this point uninterested, I turned around to leave when i heard a soft/gentle, almost musical voice say, "would you care to sample one of my macaroons ?". i thought with an evil giggle, "why yes, I'll sample as much of your cookies as I can shove in my mouth, but there is no way i'm going to pay $6.00 for a bag of cookies. so you're wasting your time/product". $40.00's later - i'd say i thought wrong. to begin, to call her "macaroons" a "cookie" is a crime against nature punishable by special session of "the hague". her macaroons are small nuggets of coconut love meant to excite, titillate and cause you to ponder the meaning of it all. from that one sample i knew instantly that some filipino woman up in wailuku had grated that coconut fresh, just prior to lori incorporating it into her product. flour was not used as a filler - the star here was the coconut. she had different variations, things such as chocolate and mac nuts incorporated into the nuggets. but honestly, you don't need all that stuff. the classic is powerful enough to stand up, peck you on the shoulder and say "love me, i'm yours". i grew up in the south where baker's coconut was frequently mashed into cakes to gain "ooh's and ahhh's". i, like most in the south forced to eat it to keep from upsetting grandma, hate coconut in any baked product. lori's macaroons changed how i look at coconut in deserts. "ain't nothing like the real thing baby....nothing like the real thing". you would be doing yourself a terrible injustice if you find yourself at the maui swap meet and don't swing by "maui macaroons" to sample this young ladies product. there is no way you'll walk away empty handed. read more

As many of us British Columbians do quite often, booking a trip to Maui is always high on the priority list. While visiting on our last trip, we decided to make a trip to the Kahului swap meet as we had heard many good things about this place. We certainly are glad we did. We shopped for all the usual gifts that you might get in Hawaii. One of the vendors, however, stood out in our mind, and still does to this day. We happened to stop by a tent under the name "Maui Macaroons". We tried a sample from the lovely lady (Lori) and man oh man...we were blown away. The coconut macaroon was unlike any we have ever had. We tried a cranberry white chocolate one, a macadamia nut one, and one that was just the coconut. WOW! We ended up spending over $60 at this one tent and brought back tons for family and friends. I am writing this over a week after we visited and we still have macaroons left over that taste incredible. My friend, who is gluten intolerant, loves these ones as apparently most of them are gluten free. We are hooked! Trust us.....make it one of your destination stops when visiting Maui read more
