It has been a long time since Ive physically gone to Stillwells to get something. Not to mention getting something other then pastries. I think the last time was before they changed ownership. Walked in & the vibe was overall different. The store is brighter with music playing . Ive also noticed that they're now on social media, which I'm sire has helped bring in business for them. I went for the special which was the hot pastrami sandwich & I chose Caesar salad for my side. It came on a nice thick bread filled with a generous portion of meat. Really tasty & even though I didnt eat it right away the bread wasnt soggy. I'm really not a salad girlie, but decided that it was a good pairing for that sandwich. If you havent been into stillwells in years, definitely make it back there if you can. read more

Wow wow wow! This is one of my favorite island bakeries / restaurants! Let's start off with the customer service - everyone here is super friendly and helpful. It's like everyone is like Ohana. The staff work hard and are polite and welcoming. For lunch I ordered the vegetarian chow fun. It was delicious! For desert I ordered the blueberry crumble and Lilikoi pie. Both delicious! They have a lot of handy and convenient items to go - don't miss out on the Lilikoi pecan shortbread cookies, as they are known for this! I also got 5 bags of their freshly bagged coffee as gifts. We stopped by coz the hubs wanted to check this bakery out. The plan was to get pastries but then we left with lunch too! Hubs got the Chow Fun, kid got Tuna Melt with chips, and I got Club House with Caesar's salad (one of the cashier's favorite sandwiches; the other is the BLT). The hubs decided to get a slice of Mac Nut Cream Pie and I couldn't resist getting a crème brûlée. I mean, might as well, right? Chow Fun: At first glance it looked like a small portion for the price, but, it's quite filling! Ends up being perfect portion for one person. The noodles are thick and fresh, the seasoning is simple but tasty, even with only one type of protein (ham). Club House (on focaccia): the bread was thick but because it's fresh it was light. There was ham, crispy thick bacon, juicy tomato, and lettuce, with mayo and mustard I think? Delicious. Caesar salad is what you'd expect. Mac Nut Cream Pie: a lot of Mac nut pieces. Nice chocolaty crust. Sweetness of the custard was just right. Good! Creme brûlée: Rich and thick custard, not eggy. Thin caramel crust. Sweetness is just right. Good! Cashiers were courteous and helpful. We didn't wait long for our food. There are chairs inside for waiting and tables and chairs outside for "dining in". So in the past, it's been hit or miss with the sandwiches. The last time I ordered a sandwich, I was pretty disappointed. So for today's lunch I decided to try their dry mein. Unlike Maui style dry mein (AKA Sam sato's) which is thicker and usually comes with a sm portion of dashi to dip into, this is more like Oahu's fried noodles. And lucky for me, I love both! The noodles are nice and chewy. Oyster sauce and dashi have soaked into the noodles, which gives it a nice flavor. Not salty at all. It usually comes with ham, bean sprouts, and green onions. There is nothing more perfect than freshly baked wheat bread with crispy, thick bacon. Add in lettuce, tomato, and turkey/ham/cheese, you have the perfect club. My husband's corned beef hash and egg breakfast sammie was wonderful too. Add in a hashbrown and voilà the perfect breakfast sandwiched between two slices of perfectly baked bread. Easy peasy approach from the road entrance to their parking lot. Covered outdoor seating available. Enticing pastry case and other savory menu items. Welcoming and patient customer service. We ordered a box of pecan butter balls and a lemon cheesecake bar. Both were delicious. I gobbled the remaining pecan butter balls before entering the TSA checkpoint at Kahului Airport. I stopped by here earlier today with my dad for breakfast. We had just arrived on Maui that morning and checked Yelp for a place with breakfast sandwiches when Stillwell's Bakery and Cafe came up. This bakery is located in a strip mall right off of W Kaʻahumanu Ave in Wailuku. The inside looks like what you would expect from a bakery, with display cases filled with baked goods and a place to order coffee. Outside they had about 10 tables for seating. Since I am not normally a breakfast person, I ended up going with the lilikoi cheesecake since it looked good. Meanwhile my father went with a breakfast sandwich with bacon on rye. My cheesecake here ended up being quite good. The cheesecake itself was rich with a nice flavor that was slightly sweet and slightly tangy. Then the lilikoi flavor came through on the finish and lingered nicely. The base was buttery and had some coconut in it, which made for a perfect tropical pairing with the cheesecake. My father's sandwich took about 10 minutes to come out, but it looked good when it was ready and he thought it tasted good as well. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My cheesecake was quite good and my dad enjoyed his breakfast sandwich as well. read more

A classic Maui bakery and dare I say, the best cream horns I've ever had. Stillwell's has been a go to institution for my family for as long as I can remember. I was craving for a cream horn the last time I was home and decided to visit. Happy to report the cream horns are just as good as I remember. Flaky pastry with a creamy custard (thats not too sweet!!), covered in velvety chocolate-- you can never go wrong. Also decided to try their cream puff and although it's not my favorite, the chantilly on top was enjoyable. Also got a cheesecake bar, which I thought was also good but I will have tos tick to my cream horns! Service is quick and friendly, you can be in and out in a few minutes. A local standout bakery that is decadent! We have a part-time office here on Maui. Several wonderful patients have brought us delicious pastries from Stilwell Bakery & Cafe. We finally visited and returned for more. The servers are smiling, patient and informative. The array of baked goods should meet any group's varying tastes. We had their most famous mini cream horns. Better than a cannoli, it has a crunchy shell with just enough chocolate and then a light and tasty cream filling. We bought them for local family with lots of kids and it made the mom smile!! Totally decadent was the blueberry cheesecake crumble! A great crust and crumble with a rich cheese cake and perfect blend of blueberry taste. This is my favorite. They've got a decent selection, which made it really hard to choose. But here's what we ended up with: Banana Cream Pie - A classic done right. Smooth, creamy filling with chunks of banana mixed in. The crust was flaky with a layer of chocolate at the bottom to keep it from getting soggy. Topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of sliced almonds. Chocolate Mousse - Three yummy layers of chocolate goodness. First, chocolate shavings on top. Then a rich dark chocolate ganache. And, a smooth, semi-sweet chocolate mousse. Decadent but not too heavy. Perfect for you chocolate lovers. Crème Brûlée - Thin, crispy layer of caramelized sugar on top with a lightly sweet custard underneath. We ordered at the counter n they bring it outside in the seating area which was nice. I'm not sure focaccia was the best choice for the sandwich, but it didn't impede on flavor. Simple, yet really well made and seasoned, and much bigger than I expected. Vegans and vegetarians, I had the BEST experience at Stillwell's Bakery and Cafe! Parking is a breeze in their lot. I wanted something delicious and vegetarian. When I ordered, I was recommended the chow fun noodles and the veggie burger. I ordered the noodles and was told they will clean the cookware and utensils before cooking my food. This was incredibly thoughtful. I was asked if oyster sauce was okay and opted out. My veggie noodles were hot, flavorful, and made with care. I wanted a pastry and they were knowledgeable about ingredients and upfront about what had gelatin. Again, so thoughtful. I was given the option of an unglazed cheesecake if I wanted. By the way, the pies do have gelatin. Ask about your options when ordering. My friends got sandwiches that were hearty and fresh. Tuna and chicken salads were both raves about. The strawberry cup and Neapolitan were delightful and fresh. They were not overly sweet either. The vibe is more diner than restaurant and I absolutely loved it!
