    We had a wonderful experience. Rental was super easy, communication was always fast and when I had an issue adding my husband to the rental they were very helpful in getting him added. We stayed at the Honua Kai Resort. The condo was very clean, new appliances and having a washer and dryer made a huge difference! . We will for sure rent through them again.     The luana units were PERFECT for our large 3 generation family vacation. The smaller pool and hot tub (as opposed to the larger communal pools) were awesome for the kids to play, as was the green space in front of the unit. we have stayed in ground floor ocean front units several times and loved them but 1) they have become very dated and lacking in upkeep 2) you are always dealing with crowds. 3) it is much harder to keep track of the six grandkids! we have rented from other agencies and MRR is by far the most responsive! Mahalo for a fabulous vacation!

    Algae settled on nonstick shower plastic - it was also peeling at the edges.

    I think the Kaanapali Alii in general is a good building, has perfectly maintained grounds, and Alli staff is wonderful. Our experience with the housekeeping, and Maui Rentals, was much less so. DIRTY: Upon arrival we found a property that was grungy around the edges. The throw rug in the bathroom was visably dirty, the carpets and furniture were in need of a good shampoo - they werent just stained and worn, they were dirty. The bedspread smell indicated it had not been laundered for at least the prior two or three guests. I found used BandAids (YIKES) a french fry and a cheeto in the desk drawer. I had to wipe down the dresser drawers, the mirrors had remnants of toothbrush spray, there was green algae on shower steps, fake plants (which I dislike anyway) were literally caked with dust. I don't tolerate that standard in my own home, why would I do so in a "luxury" resort condo for which I was paying close to $1000 per night. I did complain, but they could not have shampooed the carpets and the upholstered furniture without disrupting our stay (nor did they offer to do so). This is all part of maintaining the property, and imo this was a fail. They did come and launder the throw rug & bedspread, and did give us extra sheets to cover the furniture, and gave us foam to sleep on when we were promised two beds (see below). Such were our "luxury" "new" accommodations. NOT NEW/MISREPRESENTED: The unit itself was listed on VRBO as being "completely new" but we found nothing new, in fact, everything looked like the 1990s or 2000s, except the appliances, which were probably installed in the last couple of years, even so, the frig did not make/dispense ice. We were also explicitly told prior to booking that the king bed in our unit could be split into 2 twins. When my two adult children arrived later in the week, we found out that was not the case, (something about only Kings in "guest" bedrooms could be split, not in master bedrooms) that our bed was not splittable. This was frankly infuriating, and sort of ruined the family part of the stay because our son had to sleep on a hunk of foam in the living room - which meant we all had to turn in and rise on his schedule (which differed from our own), not to mention his discomfort and lack of privacy. NOISY: Last but not least, our particular unit (262) was located over the back service entrance and adjacent to the outdoor Westin bar. Over morning coffee on the lanai we were greeted by delivery persons and their trucks backup beeping and driver language, and with our evening cocktails enjoyed the thumping beat of dance music. The lanai was anything but peaceful. This unit should come with a noise warning. It was loud enough at times for my apple watch to register a decibel warning. ACCOMMODATION: Not a dime was offered as any adjustment or accommodation. No apology or concern. Nothing. Not even an apology. Just a gee whiz, "someone" gave you bad info, we'll bring you some sheets and a foam "futon". BOTTOM LINE: The Alii itself is a nice property. We have stayed here before and our room was pristine and peaceful. Take care about the location and condition of the unit you choose to rent. Not all units are created equal. First and foremost: AVOID BOOKING IT THROUGH MAUI RESORT RENTALS unless you know the condition and location of the unit. Even then, I personally would not rent from them given the standards they think are acceptable in a luxury rental.

    We had such a great experience with Maui Resort Rentals! Our main contact, Zach Mazotti (Guest Experience Supervisor), was outstanding - professional, responsive, and always a pleasure to work with. The unit itself was almost brand new, beautifully appointed, and exactly as described. The central AC had been installed but wasn't working due to a builder issue (totally outside the agency's control). Maui Resort Rentals was very transparent about it from the start, offered us a discount, and quickly set up portable AC units so we'd be comfortable. On the rare occasion we needed help, someone was sent immediately and handled everything professionally. Their honesty, responsiveness, and commitment to making sure we had a great stay really set them apart. We'd absolutely book with Maui Resort Rentals again and highly recommend them for a luxury stay in Maui.

Although patient with me, Jessica's sense of urgency was on another level with communication, getting questions answered and documentation complete. Communication and access to information was extremely important to me and whether it was via text, email, phone or the Compass App (which I was blown away with), she had rapid response time whether it was early morning, late night, weekday or weekend which was so appreciated and allowed me to move quickly. (How does he find time to surf?) What we appreciated most about Eric is how open and supportive he was when we came for our first visit to Maui. With a gluttony of buyers and very little inventory, most agents weren't that interested in speaking with us since we weren't 'on island' yet. Eric was gracious and helpful. Every time we met he offered valuable advice that guided our move to Maui and the home we ended up choosing. We appreciated how he took us to see houses in areas we hadn't considered as it expanded our understanding of the land, options and market. Throughout the journey from contract to close, Eric helped us navigate the complex process and joined us at all the appointments at the property, providing great advice and asking helpful questions of the listing agent. My main complaint is poor communication with the "super host" when we needed help. We lost power along with 10,000 Maui customers also with no cell service and were in the dark with no working flashlights for 24 hours experiencing food spoiling in the fridge and cockroaches falling out of the bathroom vents. Yes, some were unfortunately stepped on in the dark, much to our disgust. I don't think the Meyer family would approve of her management neglect. Since we had stayed there 6 months back we knew it had everything we needed. The condo is dated and overpriced for its condition. We compromised due to my special needs like the elevator. Easter Sunday on our way to service we find the elevator is broken. Missed the most important day of the year for a Catholic. I was trapped in the condo without being able to enjoy pool or go out. We had sent messages about other things the night before but she never got back to us. We informed her about the elevator, which to us was an important health and safety issue, still no response. After attempting to resolve the issue directly with her we were forced to contact Airbnb Support. Only then did she respond. We asked if there was another unit and she said everything was full due to the holiday. But the elevator usually got fixed in a day or so. Good thing I wasn't IN the elevator when it broke down. Notice the use of the word "usually", that tells us this happens frequently. She was annoyed to be called on a holiday while she was traveling. She does work in the hospitality business and holidays is when they are busier, right? We have spent Sunday, Monday, and today Tuesday trying to get refunded the CORRECT amount. NOT once has she apologized for how this has affected our vacation, she has gone out of her way to point out how this issue is inconveniencing HER. When she called she very defensively said: "I had a death in the family, second my mother had a car accident, I have a lot on my plate...." Her difficult attitude and unwillingness to find a solution to a bad situation, her insensitivity to a disabled guest and their needs or inability to do things other people can, and her overall lack of caring has ruined our trip more than the inconvenience of having to move in my condition. Our vacation has been ruined and still haven't been fully reimbursed. Bree is the most dishonest host we have had the displeasure to work with.

When we asked the concierge person how the process works, she mentioned that they would book a complimentary photoshoot and we can pay for as many photos as we want. I asked her how much it would be to buy 1 photo and she said it would be $17.50 for each individual photo. I thought that was reasonable. When we completed the photoshoot and reviewed the photos, which turned out nice, the gal showed us the price options and I was very surprised that it was $80 PER photo. So we would be incentivized to pay for the more expensive package. I brought up how she told me each photo would be $17.50 and we could buy as many as we wanted, she acted surprised. Overall, I wouldn't mind paying for the photo packages, but the costs should have been presented upfront instead of having us invest the time and energy to take the photos, see them, then review the cost for the first time. 2) Don't recommend any pose that risk injury to young kids. The photographer suggested us doing a pose it which we pull our daughter up for a "swinging" picture, which we did and I accidentally dislocated our daughter's wrist. It was me who yanked her too suddenly, so I take full accountability for that, however, that pose should not have been recommended in the first place. Our daughter started crying right after because her elbow hurt from having her wrist dislocated, which I felt terribly for. The photographer felt bad too. Thank God a chiropractor nearby who happened to be in the area, saw what happened, came by, and adjusted her wrist. She was better.
