We will be staying here every Maui trip in the future. We booked through Costco and stayed in a partial ocean view room. Rooms- clean, zero bugs, exactly as described online. Our partial ocean view was exactly what the pictures showed on the website. A microwave or toaster would be a great item to add to the rooms, or at least near the vending machines on each floor. Beach access- BEAUTIFUL. so close. Constant views. The beach is seconds away from the resort. Maui brewing co also has ocean front views and was super nice for sunset. Resort- the pool was cleaned every morning and always warm. Plenty of seating options around the pool and around the resort in general. The vegetation was really nice. All staff were SO kind. The grounds always seemed clean and relaxing. Cultural classes- absolute favorite part of our trip. We had so much fun learning about the Hawaiian culture through story telling, history, garden walks, lei ceremony, lei making, and wood carving. Overall we had such an amazing experience, learned so much, and had constant beautiful views. Only complaint is that I wish there were more food options at our resort, or microwaves. Maui Brewing Co was okay, but limited. Whalers Village is a quick walk and has a variety of options. read more

We booked through Costco travel (airfare, hotel, car) and this was the hotel we picked. LOCATION (5/5): fantastic! the beach is steps away so you don't need to drive to the beach. There's the popular outdoor mall, Whaler's Village about a 5 minute walk away with restaurants and shops, just follow the beach path. LUGGAGE STORAGE (1/5): We arrived a bit early and the staff held onto our luggage while we went out to get food. I didn't see where it was taken. I did not realize that they would store our luggage outside in the humidity!!! I thought they would store it inside the hotel in a closet in the back. I had temperature-sensitive medication in my luggage and when we came back to check-in, I was shocked to find our luggage stored outside. Had I known that, I would have asked them to store my meds in the fridge for me. Thankfully, my meds were okay in the end, but it did give me panic. PARKING (5/5): Since we booked through Costco, the parking was included with our stay. We had in/out privileges and no valet required. STAFF (5/5): I forgot her name, but she welcomed us very friendly and checked us in. Michelle I think was her name. We asked about local places to eat and she kindly wrote us a list. The housekeeping staff was also very nice and always greeted us in the halls. SHUTTLE/TROLLEY (5/5): There's a free green trolley that will take you to Whaler's Village and came around every 30min or so (check the schedule) and will also drop you off at nearby hotels along the beach, not just the Outrigger. Also, the hotel has it's own private shuttle that will follow the same route within the resort grounds if you don't want to wait for the trolley. Again, they don't exit the resort.One night we went to a nearby hotel (The Bungalos) for a music event but had just missed the trolley and the guys out front said they could drive us in the hotel van. And then gave us a number to call them when we were ready to go back to the hotel, so we called them but wanted to go to dinner at Whaler's Village after and they took us. So so convenient. really nice guy! It's complimentary but we tipped our driver and he was always so kind! We read in the handouts that they did a special going-away ceremony at the end of your stay but unfortunately we had to miss it to catch our early flight, so Michelle was kind enough to give us the necklace and do a mini version for us there at the check-out counter. POOL (1/5): We didn't even try the pool. It's quite small in size, and it was so hot, and no shade anywhere, so we didn't bother. They did provide towels though that you could swap out and stuff, so we used those and just went to the beach. RENTALS: There's a hut on-site where you get the towels, but also offers rental stuff for the water, beach chairs, etc. Note: the beach chairs + umbrella rentals are quite steep, I think was like 2 chairs + 1 umbrella almost $85 and had to return by 5pm. We ended up going to Costco and instead and bought 2 tommy bahama chairs and umbrella and used them the whole week while we were there, and even used our chairs at other places too. We saved some money that way and used that money instead to tip the staff and buy food in Maui b/c it ain't cheap! ACTIVITY SCHEDULE: We were given a print-out at check-in with activities throughout the week, however we showed up to one of them and there was nothing going on but there was a gentleman there. We were told that the print-out was outdated so we had missed the activity since it was earlier in the week. So don't go off the print-out. He had a different schedule available at his table. So..there's that. Overall, I would not mind staying here again but would be interested in staying at the other hotels along the Kanapali beach. read more

We arrived at the Outrigger on February 10 after a long flight, tired and hungry. Most of the island had been without power due to high winds, which we did not know until we checked in. When the lobby erupted in applause, the desk clerk explained that the power had just come back on. So far, so good. Before arriving, I had upgraded to a remodeled ocean view room for a small fee. Unfortunately, the resort's definition of "ocean view" and mine were not the same. Our room was on an upper floor, but the view was almost completely blocked by large courtyard trees. If you leaned and looked hard enough, you could see a tiny sliver of ocean off to the right. Not what I expected for an upgrade. Be very cognizant of what style of room you are choosing. Oceanfront is their best category and those rooms are very limited in number. Ocean view is a complete gamble in terms of what kind of view you will actually receive, and partial ocean view will likely mean you are looking at the backside of the hotel with a limited or possibly nonexistent view. Things got worse when we went to eat. The Maui Beach Club, the only on property restaurant, was closed for a private event. After a long travel day and a power outage, it was surprising and disappointing that the resort would close the only dining option to paying guests. I went to the front desk to express my frustration about both the room and the restaurant closure. They offered to show me my original room, but that "ocean view" required leaning over the railing and looking sideways to find a glimpse of water. I declined and stayed with the upgraded room. To their credit, they did give us a one hundred dollar resort credit for the inconvenience. For the rest of the stay, the Maui Beach Club meals were good and the staff was generally pleasant. We found even better dining options at Whalers Village, which is conveniently close. The pool, however, is nothing to write home about. It is very small, has no shade, and has no umbrellas. Guests were dragging chairs all over the property trying to find relief from the sun. It looked more like a crowded summer festival than a resort pool area. One last surprise: this is the only place in all my Caribbean and beach travels where I have had to rent beach chairs and an umbrella. Two small folding chairs and one umbrella cost eighty five dollars per day, and only until four thirty. Multiply that by a week and it adds up fast. I spoke with another couple who simply went to Costco, bought an umbrella for forty five dollars and two chairs for ninety nine dollars, and planned to pass them along to another guest when they left. Honestly, that is the smarter move. Overall, the location is great and some staff members were wonderful, but the arrival experience, misleading room categories, lack of dining access, underwhelming pool, and high beach rental fees made this stay far less enjoyable than it should have been. read more

Visited Hawaii for my birthday with my boyfriend and had such a special experience here! The staff is warm, welcoming and helpful! Outrigger made for an extremely different experience, by making guests feel comfortable and accommodated. Incredible hospitality and service, such a relaxing and incredible experience. Towel service provided, as well as self parking available! They even threw in a tote bag and complimentary water bottles. The location is right on the beach. The beach is steps away from your hotel room. The restaurant onsite was really good. They have a convenience store in the front of the hotel that has everything. Cons were they only had one pool which was very small. No jacuzzi. You had to return lawn rentals by 5pm which sucks because it is still hot and sunny at that time. Also the boat excursions dock and pick up passengers on the beach right in front of this hotel so we had to move several times inorder to get out of their way. One complaint (at the end of this review) Incredible spot. From the greeting we got when we checked in, through the entire stay, till our last day, I cannot say enough great things about this place & the staff. The views are amazing. The breakfast is packed with great, fresh food. On our last day (Christmas) the staff got together and made it to all parts of the hotel to sing Christmas carols to us guests. They were so kind and genuine. Then they showed Home Alone on Christmas night with a big projector, for all guests. The one complaint I have is actually just a design flaw. The pool (& feet) showers are PAST the pool, when guests return from the beach, which is a problem because guests that want to wash the beach sand off their feet, can often be seen dipping their dirty feet in the pool, on the way back to the hotel. This constant flow of unshowered feet causes the pool to get quite nasty, especially at the tail (pool is shaped like a cartoon whale) end. Even the best pool filter system (which they may even have) wouldn't be able to keep up with the volume of guests walking to/from the beach, so if possible, please install multiple showers BETWEEN the beach and the hotel pool. read more

clean and well manicured campus but outdated structure with dilapidated stucco. spacious clean room but too many nicer resorts in the surrounding area for me to recommend Outrigger. my biggest complaint is the small lobby/lounge area and limited space and access to resort activities. for example, I went for the stamping event this morning (Wednesday, 9:45) and it was lei-making or basket weaving instead and the next stamp class tomorrow morning is full already. very disappointing. Outrigger is just simply not the caliber of resort I'm accustomed to. If you're looking for luxury, I would not recommend. read more

We came to eat at Maui Brewery and utilized the parking garage on site. Upon entry the sign stated 2 hour parking complimentary with no details on the sign or printout/ticket stating that validation is required. Then when leaving they required $26.18 for parking for a little over an hour. The representative was not helpful or understanding and it was horrible service. She insisted on seeing a receipt and the restaurant did payment digitally. Due to not having a receipt they advised we had to pay the parking fee. We asked for a manager and no one came back and they let us out. I would not suggest visiting this resort or the restaurant from this experience. I would give no stars or negative review if I could based on this service. read more

We are big Outrigger fans as I feel this hotel chain delivers a nice experience at a decent price tag. This location was purchased and partially remodeled - the lobby does need some work and the pool is small and basic, but we are on Maui it's not like we came to hang out in some hotel lobby. The rooms are remodeled and very nice/modern. This location is a short walk from whalers village, and there are beach paths connecting the resort to the shopping center. There is a Maui brewing company on premise where you can get a great Mai tai, and the aqualani has rentals for all the beach supplies you need. We were pleased with the convenience of the location. One thing I would note is that our room (440) was SO HAUNTED!! We had issues with the air conditioning randomly turning off while we were sleeping, the overhead lights turning on every night in the 3-4am hour, and also during the day as if someone was commenting on our conversations. Also had the tv resetting at odd times - too much to type the whole thing but it was a little intense. Not sure I would stay in this specific room again but would revisit the property for sure. read more

We love this property so so much! We've been staying there 20 years and when Outrigger took it over, I was concerned that some of the Hawaiian charm would go away, but that is not the case :) It is still as charming as ever, but with refreshed room decor and with the Maui brewing company now as their on site restaurant serving breakfast lunch and dinner! We recently had to abruptly push our trip back a week, due to the storms in Hawaii., and Michelle with in-house reservations went above and beyond to help me retain the rate I had booked and make us feel cared for :)) thank you so much Michelle! I had a great stay at this hotel. It's a great place to stay at if you plan on staying by the beach or exploring the local food and businesses. Their pool is simple and they do not have a hot tub. The main attraction is the beach so plan accordingly with the weather!! They also have a stand where you could rent kayaks, snorkeling gear, paddle boards, umbrellas, chairs, and much more. I recommend a quick walk to the ABC store to purchase goggles, floaties, and simple gear for half the price they offer. Overall, great hotel for a fun beach visit! They have a standard breakfast buffet from 7-10:30 a.m rate of $30 per person. It's all you can eat and they just have the basics such as eggs, bacon, pastries, juice, coffee, oatmeal, cereal, and so on. I don't recommend the Maui brewing restaurant they have at the hotel...if you're planning a nice dinner. The food is simple and good but not worth the money in my opinion. Not the best service there. There are plenty of food and restaurant just less than a mile of the hotel. It's only a quick 10 minute walk and you'll find plenty of food, breakfast, coffee, and shops at Whalers village. read more

The concierge desk was knowledgeable and gave us some nice ideas and helped us book an excursion. Pool was nice. Ultimately the ocean was warmer and just steps away. Unlimited towel exchange was nice. Kept the fresh ones coming throughout the day. Our package waived the resort fee and provided parking. The parking garage was huge. The hotel was huge as well. We were fortunate to have an ocean view and be very near the access points to the pool and the ocean. Would absolutely recommend. There was some remodeling going on while we were there. The place feels a bit outdated, but the rooms are perfectly good and there was always a lawn chair available outside. It's in an excellent location since there's easy access to the beach and Whaler's Village. I didn't try the hotel breakfast or lunchbox service because both seemed outrageously expensive. Also, most hotels have confusing shower controls, but this one was particularly hard to figure out. I recommend just giving up early and calling the front desk to explain it. I was hesitant at first since I'd just stayed at The Laylow on Oahu and this is a three‑star, but Outrigger Kaanapali ended up being exactly what we wanted. We booked a Costco package that included Maui Ocean Center tickets for two, waived parking, resort fee, and seven nights for about 2.7k, which felt super reasonable for Maui. I booked too far in advance in hindsight, but everything else was smooth. The grounds are beautiful and thoughtful. They have a community garden on site helping regrow crops after the 2023 Lahaina fires, which I loved seeing. Staff were consistently warm, said hi every morning, and even cleaned our room after noon when we ran late, so we always came back to a fresh bed. Our room was comfy, the bed worked great for me, and we had a semi‑beach view with sea breeze at night. Best perk is Maui Brewing Co. right on the property in front of the whale‑shaped pool. We popped down for breakfast and lunch a few times, and I could sneak out to grab food while my partner napped. Don't miss the kukui nut lei activity. Our cultural guide was fantastic and gave real history on migrations and place names before "Hawaiian" became the label. You make your lei, place them on each other, and you can bring it back to any Outrigger to have it restrung with a fresh white kukui nut. Beach access is only minutes away, the atmosphere feels genuinely local, and the whole stay felt easy and kind. No regrets at all, and I'd come back in a heartbeat. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Locals warned us this property--nicknamed the "Shipwreck" hotel--was supposed to be fully renovated after Outrigger purchased it, but that never happened. Using COVID and the Maui fires as excuses, the property remains in shambles, and unsuspecting travelers like us are paying the price. We booked through a third party (who I won't name, as they are working with us to resolve these issues) and paid for a Signature Room, 1 King Bed, Partial Ocean View. Upon arrival, the staff attempted to downgrade us to a "Garden View" and had the audacity to claim it was a "partial ocean view" if we leaned over the balcony far enough. When we challenged this nonsense, they tried to stick us in a second-floor room facing the back service side of the neighboring property--hardly the paradise we paid for. The photos advertised online and provided to the third party, are absolutely misleading. The reality is chipped paint, holes and scrapes in the walls, no central air conditioning, and no elevators to upper floors--completely unacceptable for what is billed as a signature Maui resort. When we voiced our dissatisfaction, the staff was dismissive, unhelpful, and outright refused to offer a refund. Ultimately, we walked away from our fully paid three-night stay, kissed the money goodbye, and rebooked at the Westin Resort and Spa, which was everything Maui should be: polished, professional, and truly magical. And the stay was just a few bucks more, but well worth every cent. If you're expecting a dream Hawaiian escape, do yourself a favor: avoid the Outrigger Maui at all costs. It is an overpriced, run-down embarrassment that Outrigger should be ashamed to attach its name to. read more

To be honest, this is probably one of the more lower end hotels I've personally stayed out when out of town. The bed was not comfortable for me at all - and I really struggled with finding a good position that wouldn't make me go numb. For a freshly renovated room, there were some issues with the draining of the sink but that's very superficial. On our first day there, they had the water turned off for cleaning off yourself from sand, and the staff (working towels) seemed super nonchalant about that. It wasn't a great start to our anniversary trip. Luckily, the hotel staff when we called up to request a quick vacuum were super nice about taking care of that for us and when we returned, we had a clean room with fresh towels. Their hotel staff was exceptionally kind and quick throughout our stay, so that is a plus here. Overall, would I stay here again? No. But , I also wouldn't tell someone to not stay here because it gets the job done. Beach was nice and private and didn't have to deal with a lot of people. The whalers village is a close walk so this hotel is in a great area if you want to limit walking. read more

If I could title this, it would be "Buggy Beach Kaanapali Resort!" Location is beautiful, right off the beach and black rock, unfortunately the hotel is showing it's age. We moved a total of 3 times during this trip, each time the room had different issues. The first room was featured cockroach eggs and cockroaches, the 2nd room (supposedly "renovated") had black mold in the bathroom, and the 3rd and final room on the 6th floor, featured more cockroaches and lizards. The staff - is incredibly dismissive of the pest issue - and while it's hard to blame them as it's probably out of their hands, it's still not very pleasant to hear from them that "this is Hawaii, cockroaches are expected" - like what? Your company advertises clean and comfortable rooms! Cockroaches in the bed and bath is absolutely not of that sort. There seems to be no pride in the product at this resort - and the staff is a wall when it comes to meeting customer expectations - even the most basic ones. Ultimately we cut our trip short - it just wasn't worth risking our health over, and the hotel only saw fit to refund our resort fees. AVOID THIS HOTEL! read more

4.5 stars. The Outrigger Ka'anapali made our stay extra special. Vee at the front desk helped us secure a handful of beautiful rooms in the newly-renovated wing for my large party, all a stone's throw from one another. We loved the seating area off the bedroom that opened up to a lanai facing the pool. Having a picturesque communal area to congregate, talk story at the end of our respective days, or make plans in the morning was exactly what my group was looking for. Short walk to the beach & Whaler's Village, as well. Mahalo to the staff for the excellent location of our block of rooms! Though our time at the resort was nearly perfect, one issue persisted throughout my stay; the A/C unit would shut down completely every few hours, making the room unbearably hot & stuffy. The ceiling fan helped a little, but it was no substitute for A/C. I'd have to contact the front desk at least once a day to request a reset on the temperature control system. A minor inconvenience which would not deter me from staying at Outrigger Ka'anapali again & again! read more

I had a great stay here for five days, Monday - Saturday. We ordered a reservation through Costco so it included the resort fee as well as the daily parking fee ($20). It's not the most high end resort, actually don't even know if it's considered a full resort. The rooms lack a microwave as well as the resort doesn't have a gym. My room was at least very clean and they had something setup for us when we arrived because it was our honeymoon. They also gave us a free bottle of champagne which was nice. In terms of things to do, there are a few classes everyday. We ended up doing the hula class as well as the lei making class which I would recommend if you're staying multiple days. They also give you towel cards which cost $50 each if you lose them. I don't really like that part of the resort but I had no issues with them. Basically all it is for us to borrow beach towels for the beach/pool. Never seen a resort do that but whatever. Overall I felt this was a very nice reasonably priced 3* hotel. Nice spot if you don't plan to stay all day at the resort. Don't expect too much and you'll have a great and relaxing time here! read more

I've stayed at this hotel four or five times. Before it was purchased by Outrigger it was a lovely experience. Now, the corporate approach has diminished the value and the hospitality. On my initial visits I had no special needs. But, it just so happens that now I have a husband with early onset dementia which is highly impacted by things like how long it takes to check in and where our rooms are. I admit, I arrived a couple hours early for checking in. My husband was having a very rough travel day and just needed a bed for his routine nap. The kind lady informed me the room wasn't ready. I asked if there was any possible options for getting a room sooner given my husband was really breaking down. She offers me a room for an extra $100 fee. I'm so desperate I accept it. Then as I get to my car I realize it's on the first floor. Anyone caring for someone with dementia knows this is a major wandering risk. I go back to explain this and I'm offered another option. It was kind, an apparently upgraded room but it was second floor and no elevator. This new room would be an additional $60 a night. Aside from even more cost, this was a challenge for me as my third guest is awaiting knee and hip surgery. I was appreciative but figured I might as well just wait for my original check-in time for a higher floor room. That's when I'm told my "Premium" room was only applicable to first floor rooms. I thought "Premium" meant something but apparently not. They repeatedly told me the best they could do was second floor and that they'd move me tomorrow. But, I'd have to checkout at 11 and wait for the new room to be available. Likely 3:30 but they'd do their best to get sooner. Look, I appreciate the attempts to help, but these just aren't good options when you're dealing with this type of disability. My husband has a routine midday nap. People with dementia sleep a lot. I would be at risk of having a second disrupted day for him, which would essentially ruin this vacation. So, now I'm in my first floor room and my husband has already made multiple attempts to open the sliding door that goes straight to pathways outside. More than that, because it's the first floor there is constant traffic of people walking by. No privacy. We are also by an entry door so there is constant noise from guests going and coming. It's going to be sensory overload the whole trip. I don't mean to be ungrateful as I know they tried within their policy limits to help me. There just didn't seem to be a lot of care and understanding of what I'm dealing with. Not their fault. My advice is simply, don't book "Premium" thinking you're getting a better room. Had I known, I would have gladly booked a better room at a higher rate. These nuances in reservation type and costs should be elaborated online for people choosing rooms. Now, you could say maybe I need to stop traveling. But, just understand it's hard to tell a loved one with a terminal illness that they can't go celebrate their birthday on their favorite island. Wish I had known what I was getting. Definitely would have made different choices. read more

The hotel is on west Maui. Definitely a slower pace than other areas. The beach is beautiful and waves are great. We purchased two excursions from the hotel. One of them was snorkeling at Molokini crater. That was a blast, but the lady selling you these will tell you parking is $3. Only to find out, its a $1 an hour and you HAVE to make two depending payments to cover the time, or you will have to pay $200 to the towing company to get your car back! The room are nice an there is a ton to do here without needed to rent a car. read more

I have nothing but an amazing time. The beach resort is not extremely fancy, but it does what we need and it's clean. It's located right on the beachfront and has easy access to neighboring hotels, restaurants, shops, and of course the beach! Each room has a mini fridge and a safe, but no microwave. When we needed a microwave, the front desk directed us to the deli during their business hours. They have several wings and the pool is at the center. There is no hot tub and the pool was not heated. There were areas with a hammock and many lawn chairs for the guest. They also had the Maui Brewery Co right on the property with live music in the evenings. They do offer an ayce brunch for $30, but we didn't participate since we wanted to try all the restaurants on our bucket list. The staff are friendly, accommodating, and helpful. We had a warm welcome at check-in. They were thorough at explaining where everything was and all the key cards that came along with our stay. Be sure to reclaim your towel cards otherwise it's $50 dollars for each missing towel card. Through Costco, it included a waived self parking fee (typically $20 daily). Parking is covered and there's plenty of spots. They also upgraded us to a partial oceanview, which we were really appreciative of. We were celebrating our anniversary and they actually surprised us with a bottle of champagne and a card. We absolutely loved their thoughtfulness even though we don't drink. The hotel is conveniently located next to Whaler's Village, so we walked there and shopped or enjoyed a meal there every night. The resort also has daily cultural activities. We participated one of the events and loved it. We wished we stayed longer to check out all the other activities. We will definitely be back to this resort when we return to Maui. read more

Overall the resort was a great place with very helpful employees, and had most of the services you'd see offered at other fine resorts and hotels. The rooms were clean, modern and attractive, however, in the two bedroom suite, the second bedroom was too small. There wasn't any room to put all the luggage. When constructing the resort they should have made the bedroom a little bigger. Also, they used carpeting in many of the rooms. A lot of resorts and hotels now use vinyl plank flooring, which is easier to maintain. Lastly, it can be hard to find the resort and the parking locations, especially after dark. Signs should be installed on the roadways in and around the resort to make it easier to find your way around. Nothing is labeled. read more

I enjoyed my stay here! It's walking distance from The Whaler shopping center which has plenty of stores, plenty of restaurants and had a restaurant inside the hotel too. I highly recommend having breakfast at the hotel, it was delicious. The Hotel is very nice, I'm super happy with our room and it had a beautiful partial ocean view from our deck. The customer service was excellent. I'll be back indeed! read more

No amenities. No hot tub, no heated pool, no gym, outdated lobby -- they literally use pool chairs in their main check-in area. One restaurant, Maui Brewing, is absolutely terrible both in terms of service and food. The rooms are suitable but the Expedia rooms are the worst with open exposure to the elements and subject to heavy rain / wind. During our stay, the elevator beeped all night due to it being out of service, and the wifi was down for a full day. The condition of the facility in main areas is poor with peeling paint, cracked cement on the pool deck, just a very outdated and uninspired facility. They charge a facility fee every day, heaven knows what that's providing. This is the worst trip to Hawaii because of this "resort". They even charge $35/day for a lounger on the beach! Do yourself a favor and pick a proper resort like the Westin or Sheraton, really anything other than this dreary resort. read more

Super amazing resort! We loved how close Black Rock was (5 minute walking distance). The staff were incredibly nice. We recommend getting breakfast included. My husband and I had breakfast every day and it was delicious. We also loved the Maui Brewing Co. read more

Keurig coffee machine was faulty 3 times!! finally they brought us a brand new one. also bring your own hair dryer b/c the ones they supply are really heavy and loud. we had a very basic room which was ok. the beds were really comfy and clean. a couple of small things went missing. Very nice beach and located near a resort and shopping mall. Who could ask for more than that. We enjoyed our time here. We actually stayed about four hours. This location is also where a lot of the boat cruises drop off and a pick up location. The water was pretty calm. Average amount of waves. Nice family beach. read more

We had a nice stay! Location is great. Beach access is close and easy. Really appreciated the included Hawaiian cultural center and activities (worth the time!). Room was clean. Towels fluffy. Bed was comfortable. Enjoyed the Konane game outside and common areas with loungers and hammocks. Towel service, swap as often as you'd like. Two things: pool is small and gets crowded. No conditioner in the rooms (people with long hair beware after a day at the beach). read more

Our first time back since KBH was purchased by Outrigger and became Kaanapali Beach Resort. I am admittedly biased. I love the simplicity of this place in the heart of so many other, larger and more expensive, resorts on Kaanapali. We had an ocean front room and our view was unsurpassed. Daily we watched boats and parasailing from our little lanai. We were celebrating an anniversary and the staff thoughtfully sent champagne to our room, and left some anniversary "swans" (see photo) on our bed! KBH now KBR is not fancy. There are not an abundance of amenities and it really is more of a hotel than a resort. Still, you can't beat it for the friendly, welcoming aloha spirit, clean and comfortable rooms, and a view that cannot be beat. KBR is the best value on Kaanapali Beach. We look forward to our next visit. read more

It took forever to check in with just one staff working. The room was absolutely filthy! Open soap on the sink, sand all over the chairs, spilled sticky drink on the shelf by the tv, white soap all over the walls of the shower, hair on the bedding too! Disgusting! And no hot tub. How do you have such a high dollar hotel with no hot tub? Do not stay here. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere newer that is clean and sanitary. read more

We loved Outrigger Ka'anapali Beach Resort! The location was amazing right on the beach. We were there every day to enjoy the ocean and watch the sunset. The staff was great and the room was clean when we arrived and every day we were there. We'd definitely come back here ourselves and recommend you do to! read more

This hotel was a huge disappointment. It's possible we were in an older part of the hotel. The room itself was okay but the walk from parking to the hotel was horrible. We could see the overstuffed dumpsters of trash, the hallways were horrid and the other end of the floor was being remodeled. Restaurant was horrible. Pretzel bites were inedible. The coffee was horrible. The bed was never made, when I called housekeeping they said they no longer make the bed!! I was never told they didn't make the bed. At $699. a night I expect my bed to be made. Price gouging during the holidays. read more
