Very clean, handy amenities, great view, plenty of space, convenient location. The beds were comfortable and the patio doors that opened the length of the living room were so perfect in the mornings. The resort property was immaculate. Beautiful landscaping and the pools and hot tubs were great. It was hard to find a chair if you went in the afternoon but not a deal breaker. The property was steps from a beautiful golden sand beach with the most amazing snorkeling. Walk south a few yards for easier entrance to the water and prepare to be wowed! So much coral teeming with fish. On our last morning there we also saw 3 eagle rays, several turtles, an octopus and a couple eel. Just magical! Maui Resort Rentals had great communication prior to and throughout our stay. Most answers to questions were just a click away. I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future. That being said they're responsible for identifying issues with maintenance of the properties - fixing them or having owners fix them. They have failed in both units. Upon entrance of BOTH units they had an old home, musty/moldy smell. One unit had 4 mismatched cups, a less than fully equipped kitchen and a fridge door handle that was not properly screwed/tightened down so that the arm could be turned about the fridge like a faucet. A chair at the dining room table had a complete hole in the back wicker. Hardly the five star property they advertise. The air conditioning vents had visible mold growth on them. By day four we all had swollen eyes and it lasted for days. DISGUSTING!! The Other unit was just as bad but also had ants that ate their way through all the dry goods we just brought in the unit the night before. A request for service for the ants went completely ignored! The one time KBM did respond was when we asked for one unit late check out time to store our luggage as we had a 9pm flight. Very quickly they responded offering one hour complementary or up to $400 to leave the luggage there until 4. What a shame. I was furious I didn't even respond other than for them to rethink their response given the poor condition of the properties. DO NOT STAY HERE OR WITH KBM properties at golf villas. It appears that since the course closed down they no longer care about these properties or their reputation renting others' properties. Such a shame. UPDATE AND RESPONSE: As I did mention - KBM is a management company. Part of being a management company is ensuring the properties are as listed. If not it is the management company's role to either force owner to make appropriate repairs/provisions or not take the listing on as a client. I live in Key West Florida. I know tropical conditions and bugs. Excusing obvious mold and active ants based on the climate is the problem with KBM - no accountability. Their response is exactly why I made this review. It's indicative of the attention they gave the properties we rented before and during our stay. For clarification - The villas are in the BAY course. The BAY course is and will remain closed for the foreseeable future. The staff at the pro hosted they have no timetable on IF it will reopen. The Plantation Course (a few miles away) has reopened.

After…read morebooking through Hopper, we had a strange start because we had to check in at a different tower, the drive back to our tower. once we got that sorted, check-in was smooth. The free valet was fantastic, and the room was spacious, clean, and had a gorgeous ocean view. We had an issue with our mattress and it was never comfortable. That was the big bummer of the stay. They replaced our mattress after we said something but it didn't fix the issue. When we laid down, we always felt like where laying way back like toward the headboard, feet higher than our head. It may have been a bed frame issue. It wasn't the worst, we just ended sleeping the other way. You have to call housekeeping to get service. That was super easy and they did a great job. All staff on site were wonderful. The grounds were well-kept, and we loved spending time by the pool--there were a few different pools, each with its own unique feel. Surprisingly, we went down the slide several times (haha it's not just for kids). Duke's on the property was a big plus. They had servers taking orders pool side. The food trucks nearby were fantastic, dealing distance away, and so much variety. they're open u til 8pm. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back.

We were taking photos on the property and then he bent the knee on the beach. Honestly, we had such a great time the first time we were here that we returned for our, super late due to Covid, Honeymoon last month. I love the size and location of the property. From the pools, amenities and the gorgeous view. The rooms are condos that come with kitchens, laundry and balconies. The first time we stayed we did a one bedroom partial ocean, but this time around we did a studio and enjoyed the full ocean view. The staff have spoiled us with some sweet congrats cookies that we really enjoyed. This property also has a Dukes on site which is super convenient. They do get busy though so we've just ordered to-go and enjoyed our food on the balcony. One thing I wish this hotel did have would be a cafe, or some kind of coffee on site. There's a market in the other tower, but the building we stayed in has one under construction. I'm hoping they put a coffee spot because it would be perfect! We love the location and feel when we come here and the included parking is a HUGE plus! I couldn't recommend the Honua Kai more and we look forward to more visits here in the future.

Now the bad: There are a group of people (we found out later that they own units here) who are not nice. They hang out at the pool daily, sit on the steps and talk very loudly. Then they complain to the workers if you play music near them. Our music was not loud at all and even the worker told us so and he felt bad. The workers say they play music by the pool too and it's only this group of owners who complain a lot. Oh and they give you dirty looks too. The unit was pretty well appointed but the owners must be quite tall. The toilet is really high and my feet dangled several inches off the floor while using it. The jetted tub was hard to get into and the bed was rather high too. If you are petite like me and get this unit, you will have to contact Aston to get a change, the front desk can't help you. Maybe we should have done that, but we arrived after Aston was closed for they day and once unpacked we didn't want to move the next day. Our unit did not have many electrical outlets and no USB ports. Luckily we brought along an extension cord and USB power adapters. The unit was equipped with standard plates, glasses, utensils, blender, toaster, coffee maker, stove, microwave, refrigerator with ice dispenser, and dishwasher. Kleenex, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher soap, one package of laundry soap and plenty of bathroom towels. The grounds are well maintained, gardeners were trimming and sweeping most of the day. The lobby has hot coffee urns in the morning and delicious pineapple iced tea in the afternoons. The location is fantastic, steps away from the beach, next door to Whalers Village for shopping, right along the beach walk. We didn't use the pool but sat by it once chairs became available in the late afternoon (there were lots of chairs but even more chair hogs.) My husband did use the hot tub and reported it was quite hot. The pool area has coffee in the mornings and iced tea in the afternoons. I used the fitness center a couple of times. There were dumbbells of many weights and other great strength training equipment. There were also treadmills, ellipticals, and exercise bicycles. Water and towels were provided. Overall, we feel we made a great choice in booking The Whaler.

Best of all, the beach is literally about 10 steps away, making it easy to relax and watch the honu (sea turtles) during sunset, such a special experience. We were also given two keys, which made it convenient to access the pool and hot tub. Our lanai had an amazing ocean view and became our favorite spot to enjoy meals and unwind. I've honestly never stayed anywhere that felt so peaceful and relaxing. While the property may look a bit dated, that's part of its Maui charm. We booked the room through Airbnb, but it's also available directly through My Perfect Stays. I booked a beautifully appointed studio at the resort at an amazing off-season rate and was extremely happy with my accommodations. Modern kitchen with all the necessary appliances and equipment; large bathroom with separate toilet/shower room, iron/ironing board, blow dryer AND a closet filled with pool/beach accoutrements. The bedroom/living area was outfitted with a comfy queen-sized bed, couch, desk and chair, lounge chair and 43 inch tv. The best part of it all was the spacious balcony which overlooked the Pacific and gave birdseye views of neighboring islands. Noelani Resorts also offers two beautiful pools---one heated, the other not, and a jacuzzi. It also has several grills and a bar area complete with ice machines and the ability to set up an impromptu cookout/luau/party at any hour. What's more, the resort is conveniently located near popular restaurants, shopping, beaches and tourist attractions. But the best part, however, was a secret path leading to an area where green sea turtles come to chill at night. Lets give a round of applause to Mother Nature for this unexpected treat. Some vacays call for expensive hotel rooms with all the amenities and outlets one who saved up for it in advance, can handle. Last-minute vacays on a budget, like mine, call for an amazing place like Noelani Resorts.

I will come back again!

At some point, the owners sold off each unit and now every unit there is individually owned and managed thru Vacasa . com (at least that is who you end up booking with when you go to Mahina Surf's website to make a reservation. Therefore, amenities will vary by unit. There is a review here from June '23 stating her unit provided everything (beach chairs, cooler, etc.). She was lucky her unit provided that, but those are not standard amenities the property provides. My unit (#221) had some old random pool noodles and boogie board. Maui is gorgeous and this property is just as beautiful in the photos and is right on the ocean, but just know, your beach access is a beach full of rocks. It's not your regular swimming beach. There's nowhere you can take a stroll on the sand. Either way, most ppl will drive to see all the other wonderful beaches in Maui. Units there are only 1 or 2 bed. 2 bed units are all on 2nd floor. You get a full kitchen with standard amenities (dishes, cookware, utensils, etc.) Some units like mine had cooking spices in the cupboards, leftover pantry items like coffee, sugar as well as plastic containers food prep dishes. Property has a nice pool. No umbrellas (they get blown away by wind) there but plenty of lounge chairs and a few tables. You are equipped with ONE set of bath &beach towels & bed linens. That's it. So depending on how long you will stay, you will need to wash. There's co-op machines. Our unit provided about 5 loads worth of laundry detergent & tabs for the dishwasher. You need to be careful and read about what each unit provides before you book, because it tells you. They DO NOT provide any cleaning supplies. SO BRING YOUR OWN. I brought a 3oz TSA approved spray bottle of Formula 409 and Clorox wipes. You will need to clean because of bugs. There's a Safeway (Vons) nearby & a Costco close to the airport. Costco will have the best prices. Also tons of ABC stores (Hawaii-based general store) where you can get just about everything--but EXPENSIVE. The units have louvered windows and a huge glass sliding door to the balcony/lanai so there's a lot of openness, hence bugs. You may find bug traps (ours had them). It's Hawaii, there's bugs. Anyway, you really can't get away with keeping everything closed up because none of the units there have any AC. I went in July and it was quite hot. There is almost always a breeze, so it's tolerable, but just so. I've also been there in November, but that was 20 years ago, so with climate changes, who knows now lol. Vacasa also provided a few hotel-style toiletries like shampoo and lotion, but bring your own from home because buying at the store is very pricey. A small package of baby wipes at the store was almost $10 for example! Nevertheless, it is Hawaii and almost everything will be double if not more than the mainland.

Luckily, we decided on Hale Mahina, B304 was perfect for us and the beach was still literally a 2 minute walk and right behind the pool. The best thing was the fantastic view, we went to the beach at least once a day and saw sea turtles in the sand every time we went later in the afternoon. My wife and I spent every night lounging on the balcony enjoying the beach smell and sounds after we put the kids down. Another good thing to as proximity, very close to convenient places to eat, get groceries, and get gas. It was also a close drive to the more seculded north end of the island and all the tours and excursions south in Lahaina. Our unit was nicely maintained and nice, the building manager puts a lot of care into the building and cleaned the pool every single day.

We stayed for 4 nights in July including my husband, our toddler son and myself. Our unit was A202. Pros: - There's private beach access and a swimming pool inside the resort. The beach is fine sand and the waves can get a little rough. Many people were snorkeling and swimming so probably not unsafe. We didn't go snorkeling as we don't know how to swim and our toddler didn't like the waves. But that's on us. Overall a great private beach. - There's a shower and foot wash so that you can leave the sand at the beach. There are also beach towels, two pretty new beach chairs and an umbrella in the unit which we carried to the beaches we went to. - The building is in close proximity to Lahaina Harbor and Whaler's Village, making it quite a prime location. - There's a TV with an internet connection, a well appointed kitchen, washer dryer and dishwasher. The Internet needed some router restarts but eventually it did and then worked seamlessly. - The unit was cleaned well too. There's ample parking and an elevator up to the units. So quite accessible as well. Cons: - The bedroom and the bathroom have no access to the single portable AC and can get quite stuffy and hot. We were visiting in July and this was a major concern. There's no ventilation in either of these and that made it worse. - Even the living room doesn't get cooled down much by the single AC. We at times wished we stayed at a hotel with a kitchen rather than here due to the heat. - The unit is overall small, almost like a studio apartment with some makeshift doors. I think it's partially on Airbnb advertisement where the previous owner sold it like a bigger unit. It's good enough for a couple or a family of 3 with a little kid, like a toddler or smaller. - The bedroom is just beside the staircase so you can hear people walking up and down super clear and evidently they can hear you too. It mattered to us since we have a toddler and we needed to put on white noise to suppress this as much as we could. - The single closet in the bedroom is crowded with a lot of things so we used a couple of basket drawers to unpack our clothes. I wish there was more unpacking space.
