Don't go here. Too expensive for run down gear! Leaky snorkel mask, chairs that break on the beach, surfboard with duct tape on it, body board was separating on the bottom. For the money he charged us he could have bought all new with the exception of the surfboard. He actually inspected the beater we rented upon return as if he would notice any new damage. Wish now I had a pic of it! Never again. Charged $35 a week for 1 set of snorkel gear Snorkel Bob or Boss Frog charges 1/3 that and it is newer stuff! read more

At first, this seems like a funky little 'locally' owned surf shop- a place I would love to give my business to. Then I went to rent a surfboard- Wayne wouldn't rent me the one I wanted even at a crazy inflated price. He kept trying to turn me on to a trashed board he picked up at a yard sale for $50. I tried to be very respectful and convince Wayne to rent it to me. After 30 minutes of waiting and watching him sell an overpriced ukulele to a foreign family, he looked at me and said, I don't know why your still here- I'm not renting you that board! So, I went north about 10 min to the next 'surf shop' I could find and they were the exact opposite of 'Wayno'. Quality boards at a great cost, very friendly and professional. This is a great spot to get your water gear. We rented snorkel sets for the week and got a great deal. The owner was very friendly and took time to talk to us about good spots for the best snorkeling near us. He also included a map. His suggestions were great! Me and my wife rented a 24 hour rental of snorkel equipment from Maui Surfboards and ended up using the equipment for a full 3 days. When I returned the equipment I was charged way less then what I should of been charged. Maui Surfboards took the time to give me a map for free and show me and my wife where the best places in the island to snorkel from the shore. Once he found out that I was a newlywed he gave me and my wife a free bottle of champagne. Service was fantastic and they have a beautiful little dog that greets you once you enter the shop. My family and I stayed in Maui for our first family vacation! We stopped at this shop and not only did they have the items we needed, they were most helpful with telling us what places to stop at, where to sight see, how to snorkel, what restaurants to eat at...etc! I must say, they were more helpful than the snorkel trip we actually paid for. Tucker was such a cutie pie! If you love fur babies, you need to stop by and see Tucker's tricks! Give him a belly rub for luck!!! I give them 5 stars because, they were so friendly, so informative and so helpful! Snorkel gear was so affordable! They come with floaties too! If you had a bad experience here, then maybe you're the one full of nonsense, or you're the joke. Wayno, his buddy, and his dog were awesome! Just wanted to rent paddle boards and walked out with much more. he gave us great recommendations for beaches to go to. When we returned the boards Wayno pointed us towards two amazing local restaurants! He even called the restaurants for us to make a reservation. we were definitely taken care of all around. Not to mention, we also walked out with a new Ukelele. Can't wait to come back next year! read more

These guys are the best. Super friendly and helpful. Great prices, and really want you to just have fun. They set us up with tie downs and extra gear for free. We got a 10' and an 8' board. They were a little beat up and nothing special, but got the job done and we had fun. Would absolutely recommend to rent from here. Do it!!! read more

We just stopped in to check out snorkel rentals and loved the place. Wayno is a local who has passion for the island. He was personable and was super great with our kids (ages 4&6) and just wanted to make sure we enjoyed ourselves -- walked out with snorkels for the week (snorkel, mask & fins) and he threw in a couple beach chairs and boogy boards for the kids to use while snorkeling. Very bad service, the man at the counter was extremely rude to my wife because she didn't want to sign his petition. Also very shortly after we went to Boss Frog's instead and the man there was very helpful and warned us that the waves were not good that day. They are great to deal with, very helpful with giving instructions for the paddle board. I find their prices very reasonable, about half of the resorts. The Killah Wiffah surf shop is spot on, great prices, huge selection, and all sizes of boards ranging from longboards to shortboards. Best prices in the area, and great people to meet any expectation that you want to shred Maui. Wayno was beyond kind and helpful. We walked in for snorkeling gear and he gave us some tips for the best beaches and local restaurants. The rental gear includes a boogie board which was very helpful while out in the water. He noticed we had older ladies in our group and he wanted them to be comfortable at the beach and gave us some chairs as well. He was genuinely kind and a wonderful person!! We rented some great snorkeling gear from him, and he threw in some boogie boards and beach chairs to boot. Also gave us some great advice on local coral spots. And better yet, hooked us up with a great surf instructor. Great local shop to rent just about any beach gear you need. Wayne O who is the owner is a great guy and set me up with a great deal for a surf lesson at Maui Wave Riders in Lahaina and later with a long board rental and some local tips where to go. Ended up keeping the board for my stay in Maui and when I came back he gave me another great discount without even asking.
