Ribeye Steak was perfectly medium rare.

The food was overall good, and our server (Ashly was the name on the check) was excellent.

Exceptional food, spectacular view on the golf course with mountains beyond, and friendly, engaging service. If you're staying at HGV King's Land buildings 1 or 2 it's essentially the same 8 minute walk but in the opposite direction of their only restaurant, which can't hold a candle to this place.

Family-Friendly Spot with Scenic Vibes We made an 8am reservation for a party of 10 (7 adults, 3 kids), and Mauka had our table ready within 5-7 minutes of arrival. We were the only group there at the time, which made for a peaceful start to the morning. I ordered the French toast with strawberry compote on the side, plus a side of Canadian bacon and coffee. My 3-year-old daughter and I shared the meal & she loved the French toast! It wasn't overly sweet and had a nice texture. The Canadian bacon came with five generous slices, and the portion size for both the French toast and pancakes was huge. The breakfast plate (Portuguese sausage, potatoes, scrambled eggs) was on the smaller side, but honestly, it was refreshing not to feel overloaded. Other dishes at our table included pancakes, avocado toast, and the breakfast plate. Drinks came out quickly (within 5 minutes), and food followed in about 20 minutes. Service was kind and accommodating, especially with the kids. They brought out two high chairs, and when one had a broken seatbelt, they replaced it right away. They also gave us covered to-go cups for the kids' water, which was a thoughtful touch. Only downside: they didn't have milk for the kids, which we had ordered, but they let us know promptly. The scenery was lovely, and the overall vibe was relaxed and welcoming. While the food wasn't anything extraordinary, the location and service made it a pleasant experience. We'd definitely return if we're staying in Waikoloa again.

Beautiful view food so good we didn't get a pic before we devoured it

The service was top Notch our server Ashley was the gem that made the experience even better. She was so sweet and attentive best service we had so far anywhere on any island. Food was soo yummy great quality we had the fried chicken sandwich and burger both were perfectly cooked and seasoned fries were sooo good and overall our fav lunch spot so far.

Probably the best sit-down breakfast option in the resorts area, and with a great view. We came here after reading all the overpriced and mediocre reviews of the other restaurants in the area. The restaurant is at a golf course. Easy parking and quick walk to the building. Indoor and outdoor seating options available - we opted for outdoors side the view of the golf course was beautiful and it wasn't too hot. Our server was fantastic and super friendly. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, avocado toast, iced tea, and diet coke. Prices were decent for the resort area (around $18/item). On the menu, it listed that I could add 2 poached eggs for $6, but at the bottom it says $3 for 1 egg as a side. I asked for 1 poached egg with my toast. When the food came out, the server told me the chef can only do poached eggs in 2 so they gave me 2 but still only charged me the $3 for 1 - I thought that was sweet of her. She was also proactive with our refills and brought us new drinks as refills even if my iced tea was still only half full. Breakfast sandwich was good, as one would expect. Avocado toast comes with 2 pieces and was also tasty especially with the poached egg on top. I wish the avocado was a little more chunky and less "smashed". The texture is like a paste (almost blended like store-bought guac instead of fresh guac). Still tasted good though all together.

Breakfast with a view!! We sat out back on the patio- overlooking the golf course. Definitely sit outside!!! So beautiful. Everything we ate was so delicious. Pancake with local flavors- coconut syrup!! I had steak breakfast special. It was perfect!

Is the day after Mother's Day and I was looking to celebrate with a delicious meal since we've been eating in our kitchenette at the timeshare all week. We decided to try the golf course because a golf course meal is usually more reasonable than the resort options. We hit the jackpot with lunch that runs until 4 o'clock and the menu is absolutely perfect with so many options and the prices are half the price of the dinner menu. You can get your typical burger with fries or fish and chips or Cobb salad but they also have very interesting island options as well. I chose the furikake Ahi sandwich with the coleslaw that had Lilikoi dressing. The sandwich had an incredible wasabi mayonnaise, and the brioche bun was so light and toasted perfectly. Every bite was a delightful mouthful, bursting with flavor, and the Aji was seared and crusted with a light Panko furikake crust. The chef's know how to do it here. My husband had the burger with cheese and grilled mushrooms, and it was absolutely delectable. Since we were celebrating, we decided to have the chef made dessert mud pie, which was a mile high and very wonderful to share as a satisfying finish to our meal with an incredible view outside on the 18th hole. If you're staying at the resort or if you're not, it doesn't matter you need to go here !

This is a 3.5 review. We walked to this golf course restaurant from Waikoloa Marriott, about 0.8 miles away through the petoglyphs (highly recommend!) through the lava field (you can walk on a regular path). The restaurant was supposed to open at 7:30, but there was a sign that they open at 8:00 today. Given that we arrived at 7:25, we had some time to kill. Good thing we didn't have a tee time! We sat on the patio enjoying the lovely morning as we waited. The golf course is beautiful! At 8:00, the bartender was there and explained that the chef didn't have the key for the door so they had to open late. No apology. He was working alone in the front of the house, so he didn't want to go outside to serve customers on the patio. I had read reviews, so I knew I wanted the Bloody Mary, which was supposed to come with bacon or pork belly and "chef's kiss salt." The Bloody Mary only came with regular salt and a green bean, olive and onion. The flavor of the mix was good, but I was disappointed that it wasn't as described. I don't know if we were charged the same price, as I couldn't find an online menu to check and the bartender was too busy to ask. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which was delicious and came with a few potatoes. A good amount of food for me. The hubs ordered the caprese avocado toast, which we agreed was subpar (golf humor). The bread was soggy and the balsamic vinegar did not seem to be high quality, was vinegary. I had one bite.

Place wasn't busy when we went on a Sunday. Idk if that's good or bad. Place was clean and service was great. Server was super nice. View was great, it overlooks the golf course. Live music is great. The food tasted great. The steaks were cooked perfectly. Great place to go if you're in the neighborhood.

Chopped salad with blue cheese dressing
    JoAnna D.

We had the house chopped salad with blue cheese dressing and the macadamia nut-encrusted ono dinner. Both were delicious! The chopped salad didn't look like much and was smaller than I expected, but the taste made up for that. The ono dinner also had a great taste. Our server Tyler was very kind and friendly and encouraged us to come back for brunch and drinks as well. It's clear he takes pride in his work and the establishment.

Service was fine. Friendly waiter and quick service. Steak was not good. Chewy and not recommended. I Iike my shrimp cocktail even though my shrimp were a bit overcooked. My salad was fine. My wife hated the noodle dish and felt sick all night after eating it. Dinner here not recommended.

Where we were staying our attended Chad recommended this place for breakfast not far from where we were staying and actually was a nice walk. Staff was very friendly, the view from our table was amazing making the ambience so relaxing with the perfect morning weather. Started with some coffees to get the juices flowing and then moving on to a zesty Bloody Mary featuring a thick cut of pork belly amongst the other traditional features in a BM. We ordered two versions of the eggs Benedict and both were so good. The Makua and Makana Benedict featured a fish cake along with some slices of filet giving you a surf and turf version, filet was fork tender and tasty along with the panko crusted fish cake on a delicious local English muffins. The pork belly Benedict had plenty of meat and perfectly cooked. Prices were very reasonable and a refreshing change to our resort prices. This is a great place for breakfast and lunch located adjacent to the golf shop on the golf course. If you are looking for something walking distance from the Hilton or Marriot resorts and want a good breakfast than this is your destination. Bon Appetitto Portions are definitely big and delizioso

LEFT: Guava juice RIGHT: Iced Tea

Breakfast ends at 11:30am; Lunch starts at 12 noon. The server was nice and efficient, but unfortunately we missed breakfast by a few minutes and the host didn't tell us until we were seated and ordered a couple of drinks. The restaurant is next to a beautiful golf course so the environment cannot be more relaxed and pleasant. We'll definitely come back for breakfast.

Beautiful view but food wasn't great.

I haven't done a review in a while but I felt like one was due for this restaurant…read more I just want to say we have been to a lot of restaurants on the big island and some multiple times including the newly opened marlin bar. Consistency was key here and everything was on point. Service was excellent, food came out quick and hot, fresh and delicious. The prices were reasonable especially for the quality of food. We went to napua for the 2nd time and it was not as good. They raised their prices again so 62 for a plate of fish (mahi mahi with rice and green beans) and it was dry and lacking in flavor. Just for 3 of us it came to almost 200.00 you just pay for the ambience at that restaurant. We went to lava lava beach club and the prices went up and the food was terrible. Again your paying for the ambience their but there the pork was fatty, fish sandwich tasted like canned tuna and the pork sandwich idk it tasted like the smell of throw up. Ceviche was horrible and paid 30 dollars for a tiny tostada with some shrimp and fish that was super super fishy. This was the best place so far besides pono Hawaiian deli (poke spot best poke ever!!) or getting your own fish at the farmers market in Waimea I wanted to add this to highlight this particular restaurant. We ate here 4 times (3 dining and once to go) and all the times it was so good. We got the island waygu burger it was cooked perfect and seasoned well, we ordered the coconut shrimp this was delicious, we ordered fish and chips (lightly breaded not overly oily or fried it was light airy and crispy), we ordered the corn dip and this was surprisingly refreshing with their homemade chips, order the hot chicken sandwich and wow this was lightly panko breaded and it was not overly hot and spicy everything paired well with it, also got the regular waygu burger and it was again cooked perfect and exploded with flavor. Finally tonight came back on our last night and I ordered the kona kampachi, wow wow wow it was cooked to perfection (finally a restaurant that can cook fish correctly and not over cook it) the miso butter worked perfectly and the portion was huge!! And only for 36 dollars like com on. My wife got the mahi mahi fish tacos and that was delicious with the lime cream sauce. All the nights we went there never broke 100 dollars and that says something in Hawaii and it literally beats every other restaurant so far for the price, ambience and quality of food. Consistency was key please if you're reading this owner or chef of this restaurant please stay this consistent!! Thank you!!

Most of the nearby restaurants close to our hotel were either closing soon or offered heavier meals, so I was happy to come across Aloha Wine Bar online. Despite the name, it has an interesting food menu in addition to their drinks. We were able to walk over from the hotel and were glad to see a few other customers there without it feeling overly busy, so we were able to sit right away. We ordered a few of drinks, some sushi dishes to share that really hit the spot, and a flatbread pizza to round everything out. The bartender (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was super friendly, and it was clear he enjoyed chatting and engaging with the customers. That always adds to the experience :) If I "had to" complain about anything, it would be that the pizza took quite a while to come out compared to the drinks and other food. That being said, it wasn't a dealbreaker and we didn't mind much since we were not in a rush. We were on vacation, after all. Tbh I'm not sure when we will make it back to Big Island or to this particular area, but if/when we do, I would absolutely consider coming back to try more of their food and drinks. They start serving Japanese-inspired foods starting 5 pm and they have nightly live music starting around 6 pm. Food was fine, nothing special, but the ambiance was wonderful and the nightly torch lighting + conch shell blowing at sunset happens on this balcony. ------ FOOD: * Smash Burger (4/5): Came with two patties and a slight skirt on the meat. Was a little simple though (i.e. no lettuce or tomatoes, though did come with one deep-fried onion ring and cheese). Fries were pretty good! * Luana Roll (4/5): This is their signature roll and I thought it was good but wasn't anything special. Probably not worth $30. * Double Crunch Roll (4/5): Again, good roll but nothing special and didn't particularly love it. ------ SERVICE: * Fine service, though the waiter took a long time to check in on our table. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't a problem, but it was strange. * Note that their kitchen is not located nearby and so the waiter has to go to a kitchen downstairs before bringing the food up. That means that service can be a little slower at times. ------ ENVIRONMENT / AMBIANCE: * Really nice ambiance. It's a balcony right off the main lobby where you check-in, and there are lots of comfy lounge chairs and small tables to match. The lobby and the lounge are both technically on the 3rd floor of the resort, so you can overlook the rest of the resort including the pool, beach, and ocean. * The live music at night is nice, both if you're dining at the lounge or just returning to the lobby area after a long day out. * There's also an indoor bar area next-door to the lounge with a pool table. The pool accessories are in rough shape (only 1 usable pool stick) but anyone is able to set up the table and begin playing. Despite being here during the holidays, this table was surprisingly available for most of our stay. * Every night there's a traditional Hawaiian ceremony where torches are lit at sunset and someone blows a conch in all directions. We came on a windier day, and the tiki torch kept getting blown out. The one closest to us was gushing out gas without a flame, and left an extremely heavy gas smell. The staff started getting defensive which I didn't understand, and told us that we were being unreasonable since the area wouldn't be lit up if there was no torch. I kept explaining to her that the torch was out, so we don't get the light anyways, but she wasn't listening to our concerns. Eventually another staff member came by, immediately understood, and finally turned off the gas for us so we weren't getting smothered by the odor. We ordered two cocktails and a spicy Kanpachi roll. The cocktails were mediocre, and one of them was not what we ordered. My wife asked for a blended cocktail and ended up with a drink on ice. The kanpachi roll was below average, with soggy seaweed and loosely rolled where it was falling apart while eating. I would skip on this lounge if you're looking for a place to eat and maybe even for skip and go elsewhere for drinks. We only tried one sushi roll, but after our experience we didn't intend on ordering anything else.
