They offer appetizers and a small menu of bar food. They have Kona beer, a variety of wine and a full bar. Drinks were good. The food was good and the nachos had a generous portion. The service was a little slow. It took a while for our food to arrive so don't come here if you're in a rush. Otherwise, it's a good place to relax. read more

The service here was not good, it took 10 minutes before anyone approached us and it was not busy at all. She was not friendly or nice. We ordered the beef quesadillas which was a slice of beef lunch meat smothered in liquid smoke. I could not get the taste out of my mouth, absolutely awful and beef taquitos were not much better. I could not find any beef, it tasted kinda like enchilada sauce mixed with some kind of mush. I recommend finding somewhere else to eat, we went out for pizza after and that was much better and only a few minutes away. The servers weren't very welcoming, and the vodka tonics we ordered were undrinkable--we aren't sure what mix or brand was used, but the taste was off. We ended up switching to bottled beer instead. The selection was lacking with only 8 pupus (appetizers) + 1 dessert. The portion was small for the price but expected at a resort. Highly recommend the corn dip ($16). The salsa was probably one from a jar, but the corn dip was so yummy! You also get a lot of chips. The jalapeño poppers ($18) were mid for the price. The breading was thick, not cooked through and slightly mushy. Wasn't bad, but not good either. Servers were quick and courteous. If you need a late night snack, not entirely bad. This Kona Taproom is part of the Hilton property and a great place to enjoy a drink and snack or meal. There is bar seating, seating within the establishment as well as seating on the patio. We sat at the bar for drinks and a light dinner. Vladimir made delicious drinks for us, which we enjoyed at the bar, but could also be taken to go as they had plastic cups that could be utilized on property; we did not try the beers. While we were at the bar, we were able to ask Vladimir about the property as well as the local area. Vladimir shared with us some of the highlights of the property, as well as some of the highlights of the island, given that they had grown up on the island and had local insight/ knowledge. We really enjoyed our drinks, meal, and conversation. We found the drinks to be tasty and of a comparable price for a resort. We had the Poké bowl which was fresh, and we had the taquitos, which were light for taquitos. read more

With it, I had a vegetarian sort of baked cheesy dip (artichoke?) served with tortilla chips which was actually very tasty. They had everything we wanted: good dark beer, healthy salad, water, and we shared- no problem. Just arrived at the hotel...hungry, thirsty and tired so we decided to check out Kona Tap Room. Got the brisket quesadilla, Caesar salad, Mai Thai, lava flow, caramel cake...the cocktails & dessert were definitely better than the main dish. The brisket had a lot of flavor but very dry, and so was the tortilla. The Caesar salad tasted like the prepackaged stuff from a grocery store. Our server was friendly and efficient...checked on us a few times and filled our water cup. This's a hotel restaurant and bar so the decoration is pretty generic but clean. We ordered food and drinks at the same time. Drinks and food arrived in a reasonable time. There was enjoyable entertainment that evening, all the tables were not full. The bar had a few people sitting at it. We enjoyed the size and quality of the Cubano Panini and Ahi Nachos when they arrived. When we were finished, I had to walk to find the server to pay the bill. I've been to Hawaii enough times to know that you should have low expectations for the food. Most places are overpriced and mediocre bar food, with Kona Tap Room being no exception. That't not the reason for my low review - it was the service. It's open seating, which does not translate into first come first served. We were waiting about 15 minutes until someone came to acknowledge us and take our order, with other tables around us arriving later but getting their order taken first. Once we got our order it took 10 minutes to even get something as simple as ketchup to go with our fries. I wanted to provide more stars in this review but struggle considering I've had so many great 4 star review experiences at other places. We stopped here more than once during our stay at the resort. Our first night, we arrived at the resort in the evening and noticed this place was open when we arrived because it is right at the entrance/lobby of the resort. This place is pretty big in size. There are plenty of tables and chairs to use. There are also about 10-15 seats at the bar. There is a stage where musicians can perform on, which was going on throughout our stay. Our first night here, we decided to sit at the bar because it was really dead. We ordered the Cuban panini, pulled pork sliders, and the Caesar salad. We also ordered some Kona beers. The food was really good! Kona beer is always amazing! The bartenders were decent the first night. Not super welcoming but not horrible. We stopped in our last night for some food and last minute beers. This time it was a little busy so we decided to sit at a table. This time we ordered the sliders again and the nachos. Everything was delicious again but the service was not as good. Our server had a little attitude, but again, jot the worst experience. The prices were pretty steep but mostly everything is expensive in Hawaii. I would definitely recommend this place if you want something laid back and close. read more

Casual restaurant at the Hilton Waikoloa village which opens at 4:30 pm. There was a small but nice outdoor patio outside and an island, bar-style atmosphere inside. This was absolutely disappointing! First super weird hours and got here around 3p for some chill time only to be let known they close in 1hr....to me this is the Hilton resorts fault. There is such limited selections here and the hours are a total joke. Once seated the time to have someone come over was at least 10mins +...ordered a flight of beers (3) a single beer and there chips, salsa and guacamole. The issue I have is you are basically handcuffed if you didn't go to the grocery store. We orders the $16 chips and salsa and again what a joke. Store bought chips and stale, store salsa and guac that wasn't even appetizing. I guess what I am most irritated with is and it's my fault for eating and sitting here but come on $46 for basically 2 beers and some chips! Atmosphere is basic Hawaii and nothing special. The worst food I've ever had on any Hawaiian island. Ordered the bbq quesadilla and taquitos and both were HORRIBLE. The meat in the quesadilla were in large strips and topped with cheese in a flour tortilla. Taquitos had barely any filling and tasted like they weren't thoroughly cooked and came straight of the freezer. Service wasn't that friendly. We ate here a couple of times on our visit to the Hilton Waikoloa Villiage, and the food is pretty good. Let me say, it's pretty expensive, even by Hawaii standards ($23 for 6 chicken wings), but if you're staying at the resort and not motivated to drive off, I did enjoy the tap room. Started with a Mai Tai (of course!). I found it very sweet, almost too sweet, and I like sugar! I had the wings a couple of times. They were crunchy with a fun sauce. The wings are on a bed of celery and carrots. You might get a packet of ranch if you ask, but it's not standard. I switched to the Lava flow, and it was excellent! It's a pineapple coconut mix with strawberry puree swirled through. It is kind of sweet as well, but very refreshing in the heat and went down maybe too easily, lol! We also tried the poke nachos. There was a very generous amount of tuna poke on wonton chips with some sesame and green onions. There were no veggies on this dish either, sadly. I love nachos with some form of veggie or avocado, but the portion was generous and the tuna was very good. read more

What I like about the Kona Tap Room is that their poke nachos are delicious. The sauces and the fish are very solid. The price, not so much, but that is also true for almost every shop in this resort. The beers are okay, I'm really not a fan of Kona beers in general. But they do have the Koko Brown Ale, a Hawaii exclusive, which I enjoyed. Service could be better too. Our experience here was....well, weird. We went on two occasions. We were unimpressed both times. The taproom is basically a bar right off of the lobby. To carry predominantly we are from Kona brewing. However, most of the taps were dry on the last night of our stay. Literally they had only TWO beers to choose from. There were also just a handful of mixed drinks to choose from. It is not a full bar. They do serve appetizers. This ended up being our meal one evening for lack of any other options at the hotel. They were ok--better than a fourth night of take out pizza from Nui (or the awful other stuff they make there). To add to weird, my friend accidentally spilled her water glass on the table and floor. The waitress told us that they did not have any mop so we should "be careful". (I can't make this stuff up!) She removed the ice cubes, but there was water on the table in the floor for the remainder of our stay there. The tables and chairs were comfortable. The service was a little slow, but the this place is pretty nice in a pinch and the pulled pork sliders with an egg on top was actually pretty tasty.
