I contacted the Day Worker center for a project helper for some recessed lights I was installing. I…read moreneeded help moving furniture, holding a ladder, prepping the space for dust containment etc. Just basically needed a second pair of hands. The first person they wanted to send cancelled the morning of the scheduled day. They let me know and had good communication and sent me a second person. The second person was an hour late. When they arrived, because they spoke reasonable English (or so it seemed), I tried to give them an overview of the project. Apparently they didn't understand English as well as I thought because they assumed they were installing the lights vs just being my second pair of hands. Instead of asking a question or raising a concern, they acted like everything was fine and said they were going to their truck to get tools...and then they just took off and never came back. 20 minutes later I got a call from the Dayworker center asking why I wanted the individual to install lights and that they weren't an electrician. Over-all just a terrible experience. I wouldn't use them again or recommend them.

My original cleaners used to be very reasonably priced, and I asked them to come by every 2 months or so for maintenance only because I'm pretty good at keeping things pretty clean and just need someone to do deep cleaning of the kitchen and bathrooms every now and then. However, I noticed in the past few years that my old cleaning service was staying for a shorter period of time each visit, and their actual cleaning became more haphazard and perfunctory with every year (for example, they literally started cutting corners when vacuuming and would not wipe all kitchen surfaces). And in the past year, my old service raised their price by 40% and also told me I could only get a 10% discount if I committed to regular monthly service. Well, I wasn't going to pay them more to keep doing less (and only a perfunctory cleaning job at that)! Amaranda and her team were recommended to me by my sister, who has used their cleaning services for over 3 years now and at two different locations along the Peninsula. I don't do regularly scheduled cleaning, I just text Amaranda when I need a cleaning. Scheduling can be a bit difficult at times because Amaranda and her crew work all over the Bay Area, and they need to fit in travel and clients in different locations. I try to let Amaranda know a week or two in advance and give a few days and times that will work. While scheduling a few weeks in advance can be a bit of a pain (it's definitely not on demand!), in the past 3 times I have scheduled them, Amaranda and her team have always been very punctual. As for the services themselves, Amaranda is a gem when it comes to deep cleaning and organization! I have a lot of stuff, having lived in the same place for the past 16 years and being, admittedly, a bit of a pack rat. Amaranda is a genius when it comes to organizing the madness and helping me get rid of junk that I don't need. They are thorough and thoughtful and work extremely hard. I wholeheartedly recommend Amaranda's House Cleaning and will happily continue to use their services!

The rate is a little higher than my last housekeeper, but she does a better job, is more reliable, and is easy to get a hold of via text. Also, keep in mind the rate for the first cleaning is higher than the ongoing rate, since the first cleaning will take longer than usual. Her reminders like clockwork the day prior are a huge help. The key to being satisfied with any housekeeper is meeting the her/him in your home prior to the first cleaning and discussing exactly what you expect. The reality is, not everyone has the same list in mind when they think of what a housekeeper will do on each visit. Also, I was able to explain which things only need to be done monthly versus every time. If something isn't getting done the way I expect, I let her know via text and she takes care of it on her next visit (this has maybe happened once). In the spirit of full disclosure, one or two things have been broken over the past year, but Amaranda always lets me know and offers to try to replace it. I have had housekeepers for over 20 years, and I've never had a housekeeper who didn't break something. Some previous housekeepers have tried to hide the fact that they broke something. Even when you're careful, things will sometimes break, and that's a fact of life. What's important is whether the housekeeper admits it right away and does what she can to make it right, and Amaranda does both. Also, my cat dislikes her less than any other housekeeper (he doesn't like anybody if I'm not around). :) Speaking of my cat, she does a great job of getting my couch free of cat hair, and that's no small feat! One last thing, Amaranda actually cares about her customers as people. She always asks how I'm doing if I happen to be home when she comes to clean. She would ask how my mom was doing since I had previously shared with her that my mom had breast cancer. She would ask how I was doing after my dog died. She let me know that she and her mom were praying for me and my mom. She genuinely cares about her customers. She's the best housekeeper I've ever had.

I never received a response about my missing items and the service was overpriced. Not recommended.

The quality of the move was excellent. The staff at Goin' Green is courteous, professional and focused. The move went very quickly even though we had to open boxes and do sorting. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job. The transfer to the storage unit in Santa Cruz went very quickly. The men from Goin' Green organized the new space and there is space open for sorting.
