We are from Pittsburgh staying at River Run RV Resort and stopped in here for dinner . Cheese sticks were like egg rolls very good . The best blue cheese dressing (they make ) and the side salad was fresh . Hubby had salad shrimp and fries it was good and I had chicken fried steak (was huge) mashed potatoes and carrots was delicious. Waitress Heather was friendly prompt and courteous . Food was only "okay"...But overpriced. Server was slow and didn't explain the menu. When our ticket came we noticed we were overcharged for the French Dip sandwich. It came out to be $20. Because they charged extra for onions, mushrooms, and even the cheese. But didn't point out that all of the add ons were not included in the price of the sandwich. Delicious place to go for a bite to eat when you're in Granby! What stood out to me was the service - all the wait staff were Midwest nice (as I like to call it). You could tell they enjoyed what they do and treated everyone very well. It seemed like a fairly large place - a bar area, a lounge area and a dining area. A little run down but it's a small town and sometimes the run down places are the best! The food was great - large portions though so be careful! I can vouch for the Jalapeno Smokehouse Maverick Burger ($13) and the Steak Fries (included). The burger had the thickest patty I have seen in a long time. Most importantly, it was really tasty! The steak fries, dipped in ranch dressing, were nothing short of delicious. A+ service made our visit a great one. We stopped here after a long day of driving in the mountains. It was around 3 pm on a Sunday and the place was decently full. The servers were all very friendly although they took a long time to take our order and to et us our card back. But the food came fast. They have a very diverse menu with salads sandwiches and meats. The portions are very large too. In a town like Granby where you don;t have very many options this is a safe bet on where to get a good meal. read more

Gave them an extra star because I love the friendly service they have here. My Wife and I threw a party for 50 of our local friends last night in the Mavericks private room. The staff set up awesome Buffett table and always kept it full. The food was plentiful and tasty especially the Stuffed Mushrooms. Next came the BBQ Chicken wings; OMG I couldn't stop eating them. The wait Staff Ladies were delightful and took care of all our guests. And here it comes : If you follow my reviews you know I also critique restaurant bathrooms. Mavericks is clean as a whistle. Hey, I firmly believe in the old adage "That if the bathroom is dirty then the kitchen is worse". This is still one of the Gems in Granby, Colorado. We've eaten at Maverick's a couple of times when we traveled here. I had a regular burger and it was excellent, cooked just like I asked. The bun was so soft. The steak fries were the best! Crispy on the outside, just like I like them. The hubby had a steak salad. He requested the steak to be medium-rare. It came out just as he ordered and the salad was HUGE! He couldn't finish it. The first time we came, he had the soup of the day. It was something they threw together (can't remember the name) but the hubby loved it. First time in was a great experience! My husband said, "it's a cowboy place and we're in ski clothes". Ha, everyone is friendly. The bar area has locals and all were nice to us. Our margaritas were tall and in a 16 oz glass, very delicious and refreshing. The country music is nice and not too loud. There are TV's for sports or kids cartoons, video games, etc. we relaxed in a room off of the bar that had comfy living room furniture. We almost felt like we were at home, it was so comfortable! Sirloin steak was the worst I've had in my life, managed to try the Mountain Man " Burger it was probably the only good food that was served, One of the workers were I'll tempered and constantly yelled to get our attention. There was a nice waitress though who was more calm. But it's clean where it counts, and the service is friendly and helpful. The green chili really is outstanding! You have to like spicy food, though. Good diner-style fries. My wife and I were passing through Granby on our way to Rocky Mountain National Park and wanted to find a place to get some food and to watch the World Cup game before getting to the park. We landed at Maverick's. We sat in the bar, at the bar. The bartender immediately asked if we were having lunch, on top of drinks (which I always appreciate when sitting at a bar). My wife ordered a half sandwich and green chili. She really liked both. The green chili was just the "right amount of spicy." I ordered a burger, medium. It was cooked perfectly. You could see the grill marks on the meat. Great flavor. The bartender continued to check on us while we stayed throughout the World Cup game. Not too bad though very unremarkable. Supposed to have "award winning" green chili but doesn't even compare to The Ditch in Winter Park. Cilantro lime rice and plenty of black beans to go with it made the $14 price tag a little more worth it. The burgers I saw other folks eating looked decent. We are locals and we love Mavericks. We are originally from the Denver area so we're happy to find food that is consistently good as well as service that is consistently friendly. We personally love their burgers, but we also enjoy their wings and green chile. On top of it all, the owners are always trying to give back to the community, which is rare and awesome.
