This was our second attempt at a Kremmling restaurant and it was delicious! I ordered the French Dip sandwich with side salad and steak tip and wild rice soup. The kids had Mac n cheese and a burger. Everything was exceptional! The sandwich was perfection. The soup was delicious but was thick. A splash of water from my cup made it perfect. The service was quick and very friendly. We went for lunch and they had a good selection. I got The Smuggler, which was an Open faced roast beef sandwich. It was loaded with roast beef and the gravy was good and not Salty. I ordered a side salad which was very good. They have a large variety of salad dressings. Went to this restaurant for the first time on October 31,2024. I have stage 4 cancer and on a special diet which prevents me from eating meat. There is nothing on the menu without meat so I tried to order a side potato and a side salad and the server who was dressed as a joker or a clown or something with black hair said, no you cannot order a side. The other people with me said, I can't eat meat for medical reasons and this extremely rude girl/ server said, "well then you shouldn't come to the Grand Old West!" Stopped in to grab a burger and beer on a Sunday morning while passing through. Walked in about 20 minutes after they opened and the entire staff was hanging out at the bar. Not unusual before the first guest arrives, but everyone continued to sit at the bar talking very loudly and very inappropriately about drinking and getting high, I'm not sure the last time I heard this many F-Bombs in a matter of a few minutes. In addition to the loud and obnoxious conversation one of the guys behind the bar wouldn't stop hocking loogies into the garbage, he eventually walked into the kitchen and began prepping food while continued to hock loogies into the garbage next to him. Simply put-likely the BEST cheeseburger I've EVER eaten. I've had hundreds if not thousands of burgers and this burger is the definition of what a burger should be. I could TASTE the beef which is rare and why I believe most places come up with burgers stacked with a 100 toppings. This one, cheese was my choice, lettuce, tomato and onion. It cane with a side and nine was steak fries. We also shared fried jalapeño caps that were battered very well and required a good ranch dipping sauce which they had. We enjoyed a delicious meal! We got 2 single hamburgers, with one of us getting fries and the other onion rings. The hamburgers were made with ground chuck, and cooked Just as we ordered. The fries and onion rings were super as well. (The food delivered to those around us also looked extremely good and you could tell they liked what they got as well.) But just as much as we enjoyed our meal, the wait staff was very attentive and helpful. I'm going to jump this review up to 4 stars because of the friendliness here. The food is average. Its not bad but its no gourmet burger shop (yet). The burgers are not cooked to order buy they do start at $7.50. Add $.50 for topping and $1 for stuff like bacon or a fried egg or grilled mushrooms. The regular fries and home fries, big thick potatoe wedges. The western fries are your regular fries. A bad naming convention but both are good. The reason I am giving this 4 stars is because there are always people here. At least someone, where the rest of kremmling is a ghost town. We walked in after the kitchen closed and the cook/manager/local dude told us he could whip us up a burger. This was a God send after hauling a heavy truckload or stuff back up to the steamboat area for the second time that day I wish they'd play more sports on the TV and get a thermometer so they can cook the burgers medium rare.
